That’s either The Glenn Miller Band or Miller’s arrangement…
It sounds like a Glenn Miller rendition and maybe his orchestra, but Glen (one “n") Grey had a “swing” orchestra called: The Casa Loma Orchestra and was popular around the same period (mid-30’s into the 40’s) as Miller.
Here’s Glenn Miller’s version:

Note: “Moonlight Serenade” is an American popular song with original music by Glenn Miller and subsequent lyrics by Mitchell Parish.

Great find peiper,

Yes, it does sound like Miller as do a number of other tunes recorded by the Casa Loma Orch.
I thought it was Miller at first.
Glad you folks enjoyed this. I have always loved the music from that period and earlier.
There have been times I wished I could have been born in time to see these greats. But then again, in today’s world I can hear and see many of them, time and time again and often for free. I can hook up a cordless CD player at my bedside or anywhere else. Couldn’t do that in 1930. But again, on the other hand, people didn’t have political correctness and all that attends.
Hey ... if any of you with cats, dogs as well btw, want to send me their photos, it might be fun to post them here at bmews. Email em to me and I’ll see if I can get them posted.
Just a thought.
Yea peiper,
For a number of years I thought I was born about 30 years too late. I think the 1930’s and 1940’s were America’s finest years with the greatest generation. We’ll never see that America again even if Obama and his Socialist rats are defeated.
The depression inured the majority of the “common” folks to tough times that would have the modern generation either jumping off bridges or ODing on Horse tranquillizer......Oh, they do?
My step-grandfather often spoke of his time in the Civilian Conservation Corps, which was created by FDR to give meager employment to young men. His memories were of living in barracks, working on the land for 9 or 10 hours a day and eating in a mess hall. The CCC may have been created by a Democrat but it served the country well. You can read about it at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civilian_Conservation_Corps
My mother (Bless her) graduated high school in 1938. One day after my dad passed away she hauled out her old year book. We went through it page by page and with tears in her eyes she pointed to almost every 4th young man and told me he was killed in the war. There were a couple of those guys I felt she extra fond memories of.
Now, I more and more see or hear of my mates (I graduated in 1960) buying the farm. Mostly from diseases or heart failure. The latest casualty was a guy named Ben Marino. A graduate of West point and Vietnam vet. He survived 2 tours and went on to have a fine family and create (Yes he did, not Obama) a successful Surveying & Development company.
I love the music as it is what I grew up - my father listened to it all - and I wowed that we had both a color tv and a record player in an area where a tiny black and whites were what most people had (of course we also had 7 bedrooms and 3.5 baths and an inground pool - in a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath neighborhood) - so we were way ahead of our neighbors. We weren’t allowed to hide in our rooms (most of the time) so it was outside or watch/listen to what Dad was watching/listening to.
Cats - Tiger and King George - the first a rescue from a bad home and the latter a feral born kitten my Mom fed and got to come into her apartment.
I’m an animal person, we had a wonderful Akita mix who had to be put down in 2007, still not ready to try another dog (of course money is another issue) until we can work on picking another perfect dog.
Really would like a horse but that is waaaay out in fantasy land right now.
I happen to love good music - not just one particular time period or genre.
