Addicts who steal may escape jail.  makes about as much sense as health and safety regs.

 

The deadline for consultation is the end of next week.

Yeah right. “consultation.” We already discovered what that really means.  They sit down and listen with mind closed cause it’s (usually) already made up.
The consultation is a merely a process whereby the powers that be toss the dog a bone to munch on.

We once received notice of “consultation” on a local matter with the so called consult meeting to take place on a certain date. Surprise .. the meeting took place okay except someone goofed because a day later (maybe two days) this very well printed newsletter went out informing all that the rule or law or whatever, would take place on such and such a date.  They could not have produced a circular of the nature we got in so short a time and in that number, less it already had passed a closed vote.
Consultation ... yeah ...
