a modern BBC nativity :  O Come All Ye Fatthless

Here’s the editorial from the Telegraph, O Come All Ye Faithless:

O come all ye faithless

For centuries, it has been simplicity itself to detect a vampire: wave a cross in its face and watch the fiend cower. But now the test will turn up a new breed - the Christianophobes. These are the poor souls who break out in hives at the sight of a dog collar and develop a nervous twitch when they hear Tony Blair talking about God (although that is admittedly a normal response to hearing Mr Blair speak in the first place). And they are on the march: according to MP Mark Pritchard, Christianophobia is pushing religion to the margins of public life. One sign of this is that only one in five schools is planning a Nativity play this year. Then again, perhaps this is a matter of taste rather than censorship: the BBC’s “relevant” take on the Nativity, in which asylum seekers Mary and Joseph are watched over by a former soap star in a silver catsuit, is enough to put anyone off Christianity for life.
