A job well done

Sure, I know I could get more light from a smaller lighter design that uses CR123A batteries. Or the new 18-whatevers that are a Li-On fueled dual AA end on end stacker that generates 3.7v. AA batteries are a dead dodo. Sure. Except that I can get them everywhere, anywhere. The meanest little trading shack in deepest darkest Africa will have AA batteries. Plus the thing makes a dandy little whacker, without being all imposing and screaming WEAPON WEAPON WEAPON!!!! like the big old 6 D cell MagLites the po-po strut around with.

  1. Sounds like a keeper,and a decent company too.

  2. A sturdy dependable flashlight is a nice thing to have. One that is also nearly a weapon because of it’s brilliance and it’s truncheon-like build is even nicer. The TK40 fits that bill. The newer TK41 is quite a bit brighter in the same size and heft, but it’s a narrower tighter beam. The -40 is a medium flood, not too wide nor too narrow a beam. Light output is equal to a 50 watt incandescent light bulb.

This video compares the two lights, and shows you both the battery cages. I’ve seen other videos that show the simple plastic cage in the TK40, so it looks like an interchangeable part over the years.

If I had to do it all over again, I’d probably get the TK41. Prices have come down lots over the years as the CREE LED becomes commonplace. And light power keeps going up; at 900+ lumens the TK41 is equal to a 75 watt incandescent. And with the full power strobe it IS a weapon. Just shop carefully for this one, as there are plenty of the older version lights still out there. Best deal on a new 900 lumen one is here: https://www.copsplus.com/prodnum13816.php
