Gosh Sheep Are Stupid

Sure, regular sheep, the kind you’d find on a farm, all covered with wool and a bit mucky below the tail area. Not particularly energetic or smart.

THOSE sheep must be god awful stupid.

So I’ve got the 6 o’clock news on, and here’s the Talking Heads showing Fearless Reader going on and on, his great self fresh from playing What If war games with other heads of state today, restating his heavy concern about nukes being smuggled into, and detonated in, Manhattan. So let’s make sure the NYPD gets another hundred gazillion dollars for unionized overtime, let’s give them tanks, jet planes, flamethrowers, torture chambers. Let’s put a million CCTV spy cam system in place every 10 feet on both sides of every street, let’s have power drop fences in place so we can lock down entire neighborhoods a quarter block at a time at a moment’s notice, no warrant or high level elected official approval needed. Ok, he didn’t really say any of that, other than his fear of suitcase nukes in NY, and let’s make sure that NYPD gets another few shiploads of cash. The rest is me, figuring out what else they’d do with that much more cash, seeing as they’ve already had BILLIONS since 9/11. As far as I know.

TWO SECONDS LATER those same talking heads are telling us the story, tut-tut-tut, of how these 4 alleged yutes ("what’s a yoot?") had to face the judge today FOR SNEAKING INTO THE FREEDOM TOWER, walking RIGHT PAST THE SLEEPING GUARD (an SEIU employee of course. And a minority. Who happens to be blind I’ve heard!!) and “base jumping” off the top of the new tower with parachutes, recording their exploits, and posting it to YouTube.

(CNN)—Four New York-area men were arrested Monday after a BASE jumping stunt from atop One World Trade Center in September, police said.

The charges against James Brady, Kyle Hartwell, Marko Markovich and Andrew Rossig included burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure, according to a statement issued by NYPD Commissioner William Bratton.

“These men violated the law and placed themselves, as well as others, in danger,” Bratton said. “These arrests should send a message to anyone thinking about misusing a landmark this way.”

Three of the men are accused of climbing the nation’s tallest building on September 30 and parachuting more than 1,300 feet off the skyscraper, said attorney Timothy Parlatore, who is representing Rossig. Hartwell is accused of keeping lookout at the base of the tower during the stunt, Parlatore said.

Video footage of the early morning jump shows the men deploying their parachutes and flying down to a secluded spot on a nearby highway, according to Parlatore, who said he’s seen the video.

After all the mountains of cash spent on various government agencies in New York City, the whole security apparatus of the most iconic building in the entire nation appears to be a plastic tarp over a hole in the construction fence, and a sleeping guard on the 85th floor. Excuse me, Mayor DeBlasio, can we have our massive fortunes back now? Obviously you and your nanny state predecessors haven’t managed to do a single worthwhile thing with it. Not one.

And the talking heads on TV News went from Story 1 to Story 2 and then on to something else without a blink of the eye. No connection. Not even an eye roll. NADA. No awareness whatsoever.

Like I said, sheep. Baaaa. Baaaa.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot.
