Taking The Measure Of Life During Lockdown

Many weeks ago, before this whole virus thing took off, we had a nice sunny day in the early spring. After the long dark of winter, we had actual daylight down in the living room. And we realized that the carpets were in God-awful condition. We have cats. Cats make a mess. And they throw up. All the time. It’s what cats do. And the carpet suffered. So we figured it was probably time to get rid of it, and we thought that maybe carpet wasn’t the best way to go. So we thought about putting in wooden floorings. So we traveled to the other end of the county and found a Lumber Liquidators store, and found some flooring there that we liked. And we paid to have one of their subcontractors come and measure our place.

Then the virus maelstrom hit, and life shut down for two months. Several phone calls with the measuring people over that time, and we finally scheduled to have somebody come and do the job yesterday. He got here at 11, after we both got up real early and did furious amounts of housework to make the place presentable. The job was only supposed to take 25 minutes. And we were all wearing our masks and gloves, being good little sheep and following Teh Rulez. But we got to talking, and talking, while he worked slower and slower. He finally finished 2 1/2 hours later. So now we have the precise measurements for every room and closet in the unit, and the exact number of square feet, and even how much overage will be required to put in wooden floors or tiles in each room here.

But he was here forever, and we talked and talked about all sorts of simple benign stuff. Dog stories, different home construction methods, the state of the internet, remember when Carter was president, and so on.

This was the longest, and nearly the only, face to face conversation I have had with anyone other than my wife since Friday the 13th in March. It’s now almost the end of May. Ok, we did see a few friends and relatives at her sister’s microscopic outdoor wedding on March 20, with all 7 of us in masks keeping great distances apart out in their backyard. We went home after about 90 minutes of that. It was nice, but it was very awkward. We haven’t seen my mom or her dad since Christmas. Right now I’m not even sure if it’s legal to drive out of state to do such a thing.

We’ve been living in nearly solitary confinement since about March 7; we were voluntarily self-isolating for more than a week because of the possibility one of her co-workers had the virus. That didn’t pan out, but we didn’t have that info until after the wedding.

I guess I’m rather starved for human interaction.

The Dothraki Among Us

2 Dead, >5 Wounded At Giant SC Block Party
It must have been a great time

A South Carolina teenager was among two killed when gunfire erupted late Saturday at a block party that drew about 1,000 people despite the government’s warnings against large gatherings during the coronavirus pandemic, investigators said.

Jabbrie Brandon, 17, died at a hospital, while 21-year-old Curtis Lamont Bomar died at the scene just outside Jonesville, Fox Carolina reported, citing the county coroner.

At least five others were wounded at the party, the Union County Sheriff’s Office said. The extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.

Witnesses told authorities that the gunfire came from a car driving down the road, and people at the party returned fire, the station reported.

If you watched Game of Thrones you’ll remember the line from Danaerys’ wedding - “A Dothraki wedding without at least three deaths is considered a dull affair”.  Sometimes it seems to me that a certain element in our society feels the same way, and actually looks forward to random acts of murder at so many of their social gatherings. Concerts, sporting events, new sneaker releases, Black Friday sales, weddings, funerals, children’s birthday parties, and the especially ironic shootings at their Stop The Violence candlelight vigils. And now with the warmer weather, and the ending of some of the lock downs, they vent the pressure with firearms. I was a big fan of GoT, but the Dothraki were barbarians.

COVID Equality

Color blindness?

via Justin Hart. I cannot vouch for the accuracy of this data, but county by county numbers are available in all the states if you make the effort.

image

The total number of deaths attributed to COVID-19 is the same in all three color areas: red, yellow, green.

Somebody took all the county death numbers, put them in a spreadsheet, and sorted them. Then cut that sorted data into 3 roughly equal chunks, and then found that one chunk was just a few counties, the next chunk was a couple dozen counties, and the final chunk was the entire rest of the county. So they mapped it, and every county in the lower 48 got an associated color. Red for the first chunk, yellow for the next chunk, and green for the last chunk.

All the deaths in all the green areas added together are equal to the total number of deaths in all the yellow areas added together, and both green and yellow are equal to the total number of deaths in all the red areas added together.

And what a non-surprise: the yellow areas are right around the red areas. They are NOT the population centers of the country. Not all of them anyway.

Makes you wonder why national policy is being set based on the red zones. Which are all super blue, actually.

Back To Normal, Florida Man Weekly Stupid

Kidnapping Used To Pass Unconstitutional Roadblock Checkpoint

A Florida man was arrested last week on kidnapping charges after allegedly threatening a 17-year-old girl in a grocery store parking lot and forcing her to drive him and another woman through a coronavirus highway checkpoint into the Florida Keys, authorities said.

Alexander Michael Sardinas, 37, has been charged with kidnapping and false imprisonment and is being held at the Monroe County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to court records.

He and a woman identified as 43-year-old Michelle Lynne Peterson hailed a taxi to head into the Florida Keys on Thursday but were turned away at the U.S. 1 checkpoint at mile marker 112.5, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Despite both living there—Sardinas in Tavernier and Peterson in Islamorada—they lacked the proper identification and paperwork proving either residency or that they held jobs in the Keys, Adam Linhardt, a sheriff’s office spokesman, said.

After the taxi dropped them off on the side of the road, a Florida Highway Trooper spotted them arguing and gave them a “courtesy ride” back to Florida City, Linhardt said, according to the Associated Press.

Later that day, Sardinas approached a 17-year-old girl in a Publix parking lot. Police said the young woman was traveling from her father’s house in Homestead out to her mother’s in Key West, but had made a pit stop at the grocery store around noon. She was targeted because her vehicle had the proper hurricane reentry sticker and a Monroe County license plate that would clear her to pass through checkpoints.

Though there was no evidence Sardinas was armed, the man allegedly threatened to harm the girl if she touched her cellphone, according to the sheriff’s office. The girl then drove Sardinas and Peterson through the checkpoint, showing deputies her license, which has a Florida Keys address.

She later told detectives she did not tell the deputies at the checkpoint she was being held against her will because she was scared. Once cleared to pass, the girl then let Sardinas out at a gas station in Tavernier, drove Peterson to a CVS at mile marker 92, and, when both were finally out of the car, pulled over to call a family member, according to the sheriff’s office. The family then called to report the incident.

Tavernier and Islamorada are already IN the Keys, just not down at the far end, merely 20 miles past Key Largo. So it looks like even general Keys residents aren’t allowed to go out to the end of the island chain? And obviously no regular Floriduh residents either. How on earth is this possibly even slightly legal??

But kidnapping ... that’s a bit much. Especially since they’re already in the damn Keys. Is Key West all that much better than the rest of them? The place is about a whole square mile, isn’t it? WTF.

Geex. Floriduh Man strikes again.

Life is getting back to normal.

UPDATE: Just to make this story even better, Key West is scheduled to reopen next week.

And a general PS for overall Floriduh stupid:

Jessica Haim, who owns five retail shops on Duval Street, filed a lawsuit arguing that the “military-style” roadblock was illegal and ineffective.

Nothing prevented people in the Keys from driving to Miami, getting infected and coming back, her lawyers, Angelo M. Martin and Alan A. Fowler, argued in court papers. Nor were workers who live in other counties tested for illness as they drove through the checkpoint.

Holiday cookout winner

image

This is the “francheesie”, a deep fried, cheddar stuffed, bacon wrapped hot dog served in a pretzel bun. A Chicago thing.

Total salt overload, but I bet it tastes great. A couple of the hot dog places around here serve Vienna Beef dogs, and I think they’re pretty good. A nice balance of snap, flavor, volume, etc. Worth a try if you can get them.

As much as I love pretzels, I’d use a regular bun instead. And I’d get the same taste without the mess by just frying the bacon dog and putting some cheese sauce on top.

Heck, I’d probably parboil both the hot dogs and the bacon to get some of the salt out first, let them drip dry, and then a quick dip in the deep fryer. Or use a lower salt dog. We usually buy the Sabrett dogs, which are tasty, thin, and rather salty. A low salt Ball Park might be a better choice here.

But I bet they taste great either way.

Happy grilling!

More Back To Normal: Pushing Identity Politics On Children

Crayola Releases “Colors Of The World” Skin Tone Crayons

image

Every body is beautiful — and Crayola has released an inclusive new line of crayons to celebrate just that.

The iconic art supply company has created a palette of 24 global shades for its new “Colors of the World” box, which is designed to illustrate more than 40 skin tones.

Because Crayola believes that every child should be able to “creatively and accurately color themselves into the world they see around them,” the brand hopes the new line can help cultivate a more inclusive world for kids of all ages, races, cultures and ethnicities.
...
Slated to hit store shelves in July, the exciting new crayons will be sold in 24 and 32-packs, the latter featuring new hair and eye colors as well.

Each of the Colors of the World crayons will be wrapped in “gradient” skin tone labels with the color names listed in English, Spanish and French. Color names like “light golden,” “deep almond” and “medium deep rose” were selected to be realistic and relatable, helping kids easily chose the shade they most identify with.

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their crayons but by the content of their character.”

I don’t buy in this at all. Maybe it is a good product for the few artists who do portraiture with crayons, but for children? No. I think it’s much better, more innocent, for little kids to draw mommy, daddy, and the family dog in red, green, or purple. Do little kids REALLY need to be skin tone aware, and “identify” with only the shades of that they see around them?

Wouldn’t it be a better, more inclusive world if ALL of us could get past this kind of simplistic classification?

Ok, Back To Normal

4 Dead, 11 Shot In Chicago In 36 Hours

Four people were shot dead and at least 11 were injured as shootings occurred across gun-controlled Chicago during the first 36 hours of Memorial Weekend.

NBC Chicago reports the first shooting of the holiday weekend were recorded around 2 p.m. Friday and the last one reported during the 36-hour window took place about 7 p.m. Saturday.

The first fatal shooting was discovered just before 8 p.m. Friday, when police found “a 32-year-old male victim was found shot to death inside a residence.” A 35-year-old was shot to death in an unrelated attack at roughly the same time.

Around 11:30 p.m. Friday “a 41-year-old man was discovered lying on a sidewalk after suffering multiple gunshot wounds to his upper and lower body.”

The last reported fatality of the first 36 hours occurred at 6 a.m. Saturday, when police found “a 27-year-old man lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to his stomach.”

The shootings come even as Fox 32 reports “a coalition of organizations is sending 370 community-based mediators to 72 locations across 12 neighborhoods in hopes of tamping down Memorial Day weekend gun violence.”

Bullets don’t do social distancing.

And there’s no point mentioning who these people are, or the people that shoot them. SSDD.

Wishing Her A Great Career

This is Layla Burns. I think she’s about 14. She is a young teen child model with steady work and a budding actress. She had a small role in a couple episodes of the Outlander romantic drama on the Starz network, and was in at least one other artsy short film.

What a beauty. I hope it lasts, and she has a great career. Some people are just blessed.

Ingenious But Morbid

“Pandemically Perfect”

Cardboard Box Company In Columbia Designs Fold Out Instant Hospital Bed

Fold It The Other Way And It Becomes A Coffin

image

Worried his country’s health system might at some point be over-taxed, Rodolfo Gomez, whose company ABC Displays usually produces marketing material, designed the cardboard bed-coffins.

“We saw what was happening in Ecuador, that people were taking dead family members out onto the streets...what’s happening also is that funeral services are collapsing with the pandemic,” said Gomez, 44. “So we started to develop a bed that could be converted into a coffin.”

The beds have metal railings, wheels with brakes and can be inclined up and down. They can support up to 150 kg. (330 lbs.). He said the biodegradable bed-coffins cost between $92 and $132.

Gomez hopes their low cost will mean local and provincial governments can outfit rural or under-funded hospitals cheaply. Converting them to coffins if a patient dies will also reduce possible contamination, he said.

Company manager Rodolfo Gómez said he was inspired to find a way to help after watching events unfold recently in nearby Ecuador.

Families in the coastal city of Guayaquil waited with dead loved ones in their homes for days last month as COVID-19 cases surged. Many could not find or were unable to afford a wood coffin, using donated cardboard ones instead.

“Poor families don’t have a way of paying for a coffin,” Gómez said.
...
At least one doctor was skeptical of how sturdy a cardboard bed might be. He also warned that any corpses should first be placed in a sealed bag before being put in a cardboard coffin to avoid potentially spreading the disease.

The plastic bag might be Ok for a funeral viewing, but after that ... cardboard burns quite well. Cremation is probably the best solution here.

The metal handles are probably the most expensive part of this creation. They work as bed rails, and also as coffin handles. Taking a really harsh and low-cost view, they could probably be cleaned and reused on the next bed-box.

Gee thanks Gov

NJ Governor Murphy (commie) has graciously allowed the beaches to open and groups of up to 25 people to congregate outdoors. Wearing masks of course. No more than 10 indoors. With social distancing, naturally.

Just in time for the Memorial Day weekend. And it’s been raining since yesterday, and will rain until Sunday.

But thanks, Your Worship, for granting us this one small taste of freedom.

Good thing we’re Americans.

Another Fatal Underlying Cause

Is TDS The Newest, Worst Co-Morbidity Of All??

Death rates in Democratic areas are triple those in Republican ones

As America’s response to the coronavirus pandemic splits along partisan lines, a Reuters analysis may help explain why: Death rates in Democratic areas are triple those in Republican ones.

By Wednesday, U.S. counties that voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton in the 2016 presidential election reported 39 coronavirus deaths per 100,000 residents, according to an analysis of demographic and public health data.

In counties that voted for Republican Donald Trump, 13 of every 100,000 people had died from the virus.

The uneven impact reflects the disproportionate toll the infectious disease has taken in densely packed Democratic-voting cities like New York. Rural areas and far-flung suburbs that typically back Republicans have not seen as direct an impact.

The pattern holds beyond New York, the epicenter of the U.S. outbreak. Democratic counties in 36 of the 50 U.S. states collectively reported higher death rates than Republican counties.

In Maryland, where the disease has killed more than 2,000 people, the death rate in the Democratic suburbs of Washington is four times higher than in the conservative counties in the Appalachian panhandle.

In Kansas, which has reported 152 fatalities, the death rate is seven times higher in the two counties that backed Clinton than in the rest of the state.

As is almost always the case with statistics when the sample numbers are very small, Republican leaning counties with very below average numbers have sometimes had more cases than similar Democrat leaning areas. The outbreaks at the meatpacking plants skew the data, although large numbers of those sick workers are recent immigrants [ and illegals ] who may not be political. Also, the high number of infected people at LTC centers skew things the other way, towards worser Democrat numbers, perhaps simply because coastal blue states have larger populations than central red states, and thus have far more LTCs and people in them. Notwithstanding those two factors, the correlation seems to hold.

TDS is a co-morbidity. Perhaps it should be tabulated in the Intellectual Disability category.

image

Relative to the pandemic it was pre-existing, there’s no treatment or cure, and the infection easily and instantly mutates from one GOP president to the next. Reagan-a-phobia quickly became Daddy Bush hatred, then emerged even stronger as BDS when his son “ChimpyMcBusHitlerHalliburton” was around, which came around again (the dreaded “fourth wave” !!) as TDS.

Peiper, his wife, and Alderly

The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way,
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.

JRR Tolkien

Vilmar was kind enough to use some of his photographic skills to make good copies of the few pictures I got from their executor some time ago when he settled their estate. They’re gone a long time now, and probably so is the charming but decrepit little English bungalow they lived in on the outskirts of Winchester, out in the quiet farm lands. I always teased him that he was a hobbit living in the Shire, on a cowpath at the edge of the barrow downs. The house had no number, merely a name. Alderly. Their ancient [bronze age] gnarled and pollarded tree lined driveway-width street has been “discovered” and many of the old homes have been bought up and torn down to make way for modern McMansions. And so the past passes.

They never had chidren.

Peiper was my co-blogger here for years. We exchanged letters, emails, books, presents. We were both fascinated by tales of the old pirate days, and our friendship grew from there. We both loved to read, and the esoteric bits of history. I kept her well supplied with fancy chocolates and holiday goodies after he passed away, along with cards and letters on a regular basis.

I’m not sure of when this picture was from, one of their anniversaries I think, but it shows them both in good health and spirits. And that’s how I shall remember them. Peiper, JayD, Jay. His real name was Joel Diamond, and he and his wife Jennifer died a few years ago.

They were my best friends that I never met, and I only talked to her a few times. I don’t think I ever even talked to Jay, although I kept the phone message he left on our machine after hurricaine Sandy for many years. Digital brothers. She was the most charming woman I’ve ever spoken to. Ten minutes on the phone and it felt like we’d known each other our whole lives. I miss them both.

Click on the image of them for a larger version if you’d like.

image

image

UPDATE: Wardmama found a couple old emails they’d shared, and one had a picture of Peiper and “his” gold record. He was a country music DJ in Nashville for a good number of years.

image

It was the late Royce Kendall on the right, who made sure I was given a gold album (the record co. gave me a plaque for the single).  It would never have occurred to me to think I had one coming, altho in all truth I was the one to get the ball rolling and was the first DJ to pull that song off the LP and play it as a single.  Year is 76. Gosh.

Sure wish I could have my hair back if nothin’ else.

Peiper’s memory might be off a little bit. Looking into the discography of The Kendalls, a father and daughter singing duo, their big hit, was Heaven’s Just a Sin Away, gold record, Grammy winner, #1 on Billboard country tunes ... which came out in 1977.

A Month Late And A Trillion Short

President Trump Orders US Flags To Half Mast For 3 Days For COVID Deaths

President Donald Trump on Thursday announced that he would order flags to fly at half-staff to memorialize Americans lost to the coronavirus.

“I will be lowering the flags on all Federal Buildings and National Monuments to half-staff over the next three days in memory of the Americans we have lost to the CoronaVirus,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

The president announced his decision after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) asked Trump to mark the day when America reached the milestone of 100,000 deaths from the virus.

Pelosi and Schumer wrote in a letter to President Trump:

We will always carry their memory in our hearts. As we pay our respects to them, sadly, our country mourns the deaths of nearly 100,000 Americans from COVID-19. Our hearts are broken over this great loss and our prayers are with their families.

Currently the number of coronavirus deaths in the United States stands at 94,591 according to data tracked by Johns Hopkins University.

The president said that the flags would fly at half-staff on Memorial Day to honor Americans who died serving in the U.S. military.

“On Monday, the flags will be at half-staff in honor of the men and women in our Military who have made the Ultimate Sacrifice for our Nation,” he wrote.

On the one hand, this is a fine, temporary gesture, coming just before Memorial Day when all the flags would be dipped in remembrance anyway.

On the other hand, while it may appear that he is making a bi-partisan gesture, he is being manipulated by Pelosi and Schumer, essentially admitting defeat. That’s not what he’s doing, but that’s how the MSM and millions of people will see it.

On the third hand, this is all “a day late and a dollar short” to me, as all the states around me have been flying the flag low for so long now. For a day or two, it’s a fine thing. For more than a month, it’s defeatism. yes, there has been the days set aside for police memorial, but most of this has been for coronavirus deaths. And that bugs me. All the other deaths from all the other illnesses, accidents, old age, etc, far outstrip the somewhat nebulous numbers of “covid caused, covid related, covid suspected” victims. It begins to feel like a con. Defeatism. Keep the sheep sad and they stay in line longer. And I’m getting damn sick and tired of that.

[ May 15 ] In Connecticut, state and U.S. flags are half staff indefinitely in recognition of all those whose lives were lost or affected by COVID-19.
...
Illinois has joined the states who are lowering their flags for the victims of COVID-19.
...
In Massachusetts, flags at soldiers’ home facilities and veteran cemeteries began flying half-staff on April 19 until a date to be determined in respect of veterans and Soldiers’ Home residents who died from COVID-19.
...
In Michigan, state and U.S. flags are flying half staff indefinitely, according to a proclamation that went into place on April 10.
...
In New Jersey, all state flags and U.S. flags are being flown at half-staff indefinitely in memory of the people who have lost their lives to the coronavirus outbreak. The proclamation was placed by Gov. Philip D. Murphy on April 3 and is still ongoing
...
In New York, all flags on state government buildings will fly at half-staff indefinitely while the state is “on pause” due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced on April 8.
...
In Pennsylvania, Gov. Tom Wolf has ordered that all commonwealth flags on commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and public grounds fly at half staff indefinitely in honor of the victims of the 2019 novel coronavirus. The proclamation was put into place on April 8.

A gesture overused loses meaning, impact, and importance. This extended “act of mourning” is no more than empty virtue signalling. This offends me, as a significant tradition is being besmirched. Watered down to nothing. And every one of the states doing it is run by Democrats.

John Bull Late To The Party Again

A week or three ago, Boris Johnson, the PM over there, was at death’s door with the COVID. Then he got a visit from 2 Americans from NIH. A few days later he was just fine, and released from hospital. He has not been forthcoming about his treatment.

The BS-MSM has it’s soggy panties in a twist this week because President Trump has admitted that he is taking HCQ as a prophylactic against COVID-19. For his sake, I hope he’s been on it for quite a bit longer than he’s admitting to.

I came this close to just walking away from blogging forever over this treatment plan and the media’s INSANE reaction to it, for no other reason than that President Trump said in mid-March that he had hopes for it, that it could be a game changer, or maybe not. It was already known then to be effective, and the pharms were donating tens of millions of pills and announcing ramped up production nearly every day.

And then the bullshit started. First in the media, excoriating Trump and pusing the shortage panic button to ensure that a shortage occurred. Then with Democrat state governors, then with the faggots in the academic and medical communities pushing foolish studies knowing full well that they would fail or have limited success. HCQ + Zn + Z-pack, and now, + vitamin D. It has been long known to be an effective phropylactic and an effective early treatment. Which is why every damn “official” study forced it to be used on super sick patients already at death’s door in hospitals. Because OrangeManBad, so let’s let people die to “prove” it.

This was a deliberate act to allow Americans to die, purely for political purposes. The lockdown and destruction of the largest and fastest growing economy in human history is/was for the same reason: get Trump, destroy freedom, grab power, grind the world under their Socialist heels.

But now, finally, TWO FULL MONTHS later, after having banned “off label” use of HCQ, the smarmy bastiges in England are now willing to use their own health workers as guinea pigs to see if this regime does any good. Follow this story closely, because if they do not specifically mention the use of Zinc and/or vitamin D, then it is yet another “test” that is planned to fail from the beginning. Oh, and those other clinical trials we heard about back then? Most of them haven’t even started yet. Isn’t that special?

a few things you should read, if you haven’t already:
https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2020/04/media-lied-people-died-italian-study-finds-incredible-prophylaxis-results-patients-hydroxychloroquine/
• this will boil your blood: https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/05/11/distributed-denial-of-hcq-to-covid-19-victims/
https://wattsupwiththat.com/2020/03/17/an-effective-treatment-for-coronavirus-covid-19-has-been-found-in-a-common-anti-malarial-drug/ (please read the update at the bottom too, and don’t forget that in late February the UK banned the export of all forms of chloroquine. Shortly thereafter, they banned the use of it for their own people with COVID )

this is the really short version of almost all of the above. But the details are staggering, so find a few minutes to read through them. Even if you don’t care don’t care don’t care don’t care. Is it worth reading about how the Dems and the MSM want you dead?

https://www.breitbart.com/clips/2020/04/09/ag-barr-media-have-been-on-a-jihad-to-discredit-hydroxychloroquine/

Barr noted the media efforts to criticize hydroxychloroquine, a drug touted by Trump during appearances with the coronavirus task force.

“[I]t’s very disappointing because I think the president went out at the beginning of this thing and really was statesmanlike, trying to bring people together, working with all the governors, keeping his patience as he got these snarky gotcha questions from the White House media pool,” Barr said. “And the stridency of the partisan attacks on him has gotten higher and higher, and it’s really disappointing to see. And the politicization of decisions like hydroxychloroquine has been amazing to me.”

Ah yes, the “news” story, in all it’s Socialist glory. Finally!!

Donald Trump drug to be tested on NHS staff with hopes it could prevent coronavirus”

Up to 10,000 NHS workers will be be given the same drug being taken by Donald Trump in the first major UK trial of hydroxychloroquine to prevent coronavirus.

The study, involving at least 20 NHS hospitals, aims to establish whether the cheap anti-malarial drug can fend off the virus.

Oxford Radcliffe Hospital and Royal Sussex County hospital, in Brighton, are among the first hospitals involved in the global study, which will involve 40,000 health professionals from around the world.  Researchers hope to have results by the end of this year.

So far, most clinical trials of hydroxychloroquine have focused on its use in treating Covid-19 patients and shown mixed results.

But UK researchers said they hope that the drug may be more effective if it is used preemptively to reduce the chance of catching the virus.

I want to take the giant Monty Python foot, label it NO SHITE YOU ARSEFACE and drop it on their heads. Where the feek have you scunners been???

Here’s the version from Breitbart:

The announcement may give satisfaction to President Trump, who was slammed by left-liberal politicians and commentators when he revealed that he was taking hydroxychloroquine as a possible preventative.

The American leader told reporters on Monday that they would “be surprised at how many people are taking [hydroxychloroquine], especially the frontline workers, before you catch it,” before revealing that he is taking the drug himself.

Chuck Schumer, who leads the Democrats in the U.S. Senate, branded the President “reckless” and claimed that “All the experts say at best it doesn’t help” following the revelation.

“I would rather he not be taking something that has not been approved by the scientists, especially in his age group,” added Nancy Pelosi, Schumer’s 80-year-old counterpart in the House of Representatives — before going on to suggest the President should be extra cautious because he is “morbidly obese”.

Still being used as a weapon, still fear mongering, and NOT ONE DAMN WORD in either news article about zinc, z-pack, or vitamin D. Conclusion: Either A) deliberate dog-shit inept lazy reporting AND/OR B) Another BS study designed to fail, or at least to minimize success.

Plaquenil on it’s own might be enough to keep you from getting the -19. After all, “where malaria is, COVID-19 isn’t”, with a nearly 100% correlation worldwide. But add the zinc, add the vitamin D, add some Z-pack ( and maybe some chicken soup, it couldn’t hurt! ) and you get well, as well, if you came a bit late to the prophylactic game. Just ask Dr. Zelenko. But hurry, because he’s leaving, tired of the same shit storm. Doesn’t matter that he’s cured well over 1000 patients.

Remember: 65,000 lupus and RA patients in Italy, all taking HCQ, during the height of their infection, when Death stalked the land: 20 of them got COVID. No deaths, no hospitalizations.

Note: Now that Trump has mentioned HCQ again, the “second wave” of attacks are upon us (no, not the media forecast corona comeback if any areas dared to open up and embrace freedom again) - the MSM is beating their drum again as loud as they can. Look around, and you’ll see a few news reports about a lupus patient or two who caught the disease. Proof that Trump is wrong!!! Proof that HCQ doesn’t work!!!! Yeah, well read the WattsUp articles first ... because this drug builds up to a stable level in their bodies that lasts a month or more, the vast majority of lupus and RA patients are notorious, historically for decades, notoriously poor at actually taking the pills every day, or even filling their prescriptions. Not that one of them will admit to being lax.  Especially if they’re libs. I’m waiting for the fishtank cleaner story to come up again ... you do know that that psycho Dem woman is being investigated for murdering her husband, which is what I said from the get-go?

So I’ll try to spread the word one last time.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
