News You Can Lose
I haven’t paid hardly any attention at all to the news the past several weeks. I doubt if I missed much of anything.
Politics? What for? I made up my mind who I was going to vote for in the 2012 presidential election back in the Spring of 2008: anybody but Obama. It was obvious then that McCain was throwing the election just like Bob Dole and Daddy Bush did before him, so that the other party could have it’s turn. So whatever Romney is up to ... it doesn’t matter one jot. If the guy can get elected, and I hope he does, and IF he can get Obamacare thrown out, then he will have been a successful President and the economy will surge. If not, then he’s another lying cork-snocker, the nation is doomed, and there is no significant difference between the elected officials on either side of the aisle. Crooks and statists, all of them. But if he can ... then we can have America again. Mostly. Sort of.
So, what’s in the news?
- Rep Peter King (R-NY) - “FBI not consistent when it comes to labeling what is or isn’t domestic terrorism.” Oh shut the fuck up King. They are so. If it’s a white guy doing the shooting, it’s terrorism. If it’s a muslime, it isn’t. Black, brown, white, or yellow, as long as they’re face & down ass up 5 times a day for a-lah, they’re off the hook. Even if that shooter is a card carrying member of AQ. Why? Because the FBI surrendered to Allah ages ago, and they are in fact dhimmis and apologists. No connection to any terrorist group, the shooter acted alone, musta been crazy, sexually frustrated, or just constipated. Nothing to see here, move along.
- Weird fish suddenly popular on Facebook. Weird stuff is always popular on Facebook. Who cares? But these giant flat fish are pretty funny looking, and seeing them off the coast is kind of rare, so I guess it’s news. Must be caused by global warming or something.
biggest darn swimming fish head I ever saw!Animal Facts
* Scientific Name: Mola mola
* Habitat: Open Waters
* Animal Type: Fishes
* Diet: Mainly jellies and other zooplankters, squid, fish, crustaceans, brittle stars
* Size: to 14 feet and nearly 5,000 pounds; molas in Monterey Bay up to 1,000 pounds or more
* Range: Seasonally distributed in all tropical and temperate oceans
- EPA Pressured To Drop Ethanol Corn Mandate; Drought Makes Corn Prices Soar
Golly, that pretty much says it all right there, doesn’t it? Look, we’re not ready for ethanol yet. And it isn’t cost effective yet. And if we ever do get in this groove, it has to be made from WASTE PLANT MATERIAL in an area not otherwise growing food. At a price just slightly better than compost. And that’s all. Anything more costly than that is just stupid, and even Al Gore agrees with that. So cut the crap, and cut the damn program. It was wrong, it didn’t work. And if Obama and the DC Bandits can’t kill this one, they can’t kill anything: fire them all, right the hell now. With record drought destroying crops across the country, corn prices are skyrocketing, and that is causing a world-wide ripple effect, including on the cost of the corn-derived gasoline additive ethanol.
Corn prices are up 60 percent this summer, Christopher Hurt, a Purdue University economic professor, estimates. And now Democratic governors from Maryland, Delaware, North Carolina and Arkansas have joined ranchers, poultry farmers and the United Nations director-general for food and agriculture in asking the Environmental Protection Agency to waive the federal requirement that gasoline contain 10 percent ethanol.
“It’s universally acknowledged that ethanol is raising the price of food,” Kenneth Green of the American Enterprise Institute said. “It’s not lowering the price of gas. In fact, it may be raising the price of gas, and it’s having a devastating environmental effect in terms of coastal pollution.”
What, rein in the EPA? You’ve got to be kidding me. Ain’t never ever gonna happen. Not with this asshat nor the next one.
- Nonprofit raises eyebrows with mailings seeking to increase voter registration
Oh STFU. The registration forms are improper, unofficial, and being sent out to dead people, dogs, cats, and Wardmama’s collection of drowned groundhogs? Too effing bad. If your state had responsible voter registration - IE, get your damn ass down to county, show ID, and fill out the form in front of some government employee - this wouldn’t happen. Your state screwed the system, so now they have to deal with the problems. Let us know when they grow up and put the adults back in charge.
“This all looks like a total fraud to me,” says another viewer, who contacted Fox News to investigate why the group was pitching a voter registration form that, he said, appeared to be an official government mailing to, in his case, someone who cannot even legally vote.
The Voter Participation Center blames faulty mailing lists, not fraud, and says that it is trying to correct any problems.
“The Voter Participation Center, of course, regrets any instance at all where there is some sort of mis-mailing to some address or some person who shouldn’t receive the mailing,” said Center lawyer Scott Thomas.
Like hell. Bite me.
- Crude oil down to $114 per barrel??? US playing the “should we release the strategic reserve” game again, trying to cut the price a whole $1/bbl in the short term.
Horry Clap. Such a good deal. Hey, I know, how about “drop the price to $29 right now or we nuke you” combined with “The USA is embarked on the largest oil drilling program in history in an effort to become 100% energy independent in 2 years or less”. Together those might work. Anything else is bullshit and just kicks the can down the road while draining our national wealth into our enemy’s hands.
- GOLD stagnant at $1612/ounce, demand lowest in 2 years
Why should I even link this story? I personally have NO demand for gold, nor any spare money to play in the fixed precious metals game, and it’s a sucker bet at this point anyway. Gold is at it’s highest rate ever ever ever in all human history, and the only way it will go any higher is if the whole effin’ planet goes belly up bankrupt. In which case the gold becomes worthless, and a can of Spam™ becomes the new worldwide currency, with change made in handfuls of rice.
- “Sharpie Parties” latest social media destructive event to get even with evil banks for forcing you to buy more house than you could afford
Moving on to the next load of crap ...
LOS ANGELES – In the age of Facebook and Twitter, a new crime has hit America: “Sharpie parties,” gatherings of party revelers armed with “Sharpie” magic markers and lured by social media invitations to wreak havoc on foreclosed homes.
Five years into the U.S. foreclosure crisis, Sharpie parties are a new form of blight on the landscape of boarded-up homes, brown lawns and abandoned streets. They are also the latest iteration of collective home-trashing spurred by social media.
I say give the cops facebook accounts and invite them to “leadie” parties, where the guests are given free boxes of bullets and allowed to shoot the fuck out of the home wreckers with their Sharpies. For each wrecker killed by at least 8 bullets, the bank that currently holds the mortgage on the cop responsible agrees to knock of 1/100th of a percent from the interest rate. And make it a crime in California for any minor to be in possession of, or to make an attempt to purchase, a Magic Marker™ , Sharpie™, or other cellulose tipped marking pen. Just like they did with spray paint.
Nope, doesn’t seem like I’ve missed much of anything after all.

a couple of items that caught the eye
I thought a bit of humor was fitting here since in awhile I might be posting some very unwelcome material I want ppl to know about. Anyway, we deserve a laff what with all the usual posts about crime, justice lack of and all the other crap that drives us up a wall.
Not that this story is very funny to the people involved. Anything but. It has to do with adultery and betrayal etc. So why do I think it’s funny?
Cos it deals with Nelson Mandela’s family and I don’t much care for the anti American anti Bush commie sob or his kin. And take a gander at the link for pix.
Nelson Mandela’s grandson throws wife out of home after discovering that baby son is his brother’sBy Dan Newling, Cape Town
2:48PM BST 14 Aug 2012
Mandla Mandela, 38, was accused of bigamy when he married teenager Anais Grimaud while still married to his first wife.
Now, following weeks of media speculation that their marriage had ended amid blazing rows, Mr Mandela has confirmed that his wife had an affair with his brother.
“The Mandela family has sent my wife Nkosikazi Nobubele Mandela (nee Anais Grimaud) back to her home after it was discovered she has been having an affair with one of my brothers”, he said.
“I confirm this affair resulted in a son that Nkosikazi Nobubele gave birth to in 2011.
The cuckold scandal is just the latest in a series of controversies involving Mandla Mandela, whom Nelson Mandela anointed as his political heir.
Then there are a couple of very short mindless news briefs and I’m glad they’re short.
Filed under oh what a surprise.
Hmm. Must remember to make that a category. It’s continued stuff like this that says, the world most surely is NOT right.
IN BRIEF
A muslim was arrested after he threatened to attack his pregnant girlfriend with a knife, if she continued to refuse to convert to his religion.
And ....
A patient said to be “No Risk” by dumb ass shrinks was tasered 2wice by the police while the nut case was on home leave.
The reason?
He was found brandishing a Samurai sword in the street. He drew the sword and then approached the officers but he wasn’t offering to give up the weapon.
They should have shot him dead but no. ALL life is precious is the mantra. And the bed wetting lefty libtards would raise hell.

PEOPLE ARE SICK AND NUTS CONTINUED
Take a look at this would ya. I suppose the live and let live folks might support this. After all, go back in time far enough and nobody wore much if anything I don’t suppose. Unless in a cold climate. They might have draped an animal skin over their naked body. And I also suppose that if this were a fairly good looking female between the right ages, not too many men would complain. Or would we?
But really ..... this isn’t the year 1, there is such a thing as decorum. This guy is a total jerk and an inconsiderate one as well. Heck, he admits he embarrasses his kids. Who know better. So he keeps getting arrested but nothing much happens. He even went to court naked.
There are ways, I know there are ways, to cure this illness. And the cure once applied, is permanent.
unedited article and photos at the link below.
Naked rambler is arrested three days since walking free (and with no clothes on) after six years in jailStephen Gough is charged with breach of the peace
Re-arrested last time just 60 seconds after leaving prison gates
Admits his teenage children are probably ‘embarrassed’ by himBy NICK ENOCH
The so-called ‘Naked Rambler’ Stephen Gough has been arrested three days after he was released from prison.
Gough, a former Royal Marine who hikes across the country naked, was arrested in Townhill, Dunfermline, this afternoon by officers from Fife Constabulary.
He was released from Perth Prison on Tuesday, having spent the past six years in the Scottish jail.
A spokesman for Fife Constabulary said he was arrested following complaints from members of the public and has been charged with breach of the peace.
The 53-year-old, from Eastleigh in Hampshire, earned the nickname by walking unclothed from Land’s End to John O’Groats after quitting his job as a lorry driver.
He told the Sun: ‘My children are teenagers so I expect they are embarrassed by me. If I was them and my dad was walking around naked, I suppose I would be embarrassed.’
Wearing just a backpack – he had few other belongings when he entered maximum security Perth Prison – Gough stood still to enjoy the breeze.
He was arrested within 60 seconds of his last release and fully expected the police to do so again.
But, in an apparent shift in attitude, the rambler had been allowed to go on his way.
At the time, he vowed to continue walking around Britain without any clothes on – albeit away from busy main roads.
He appeared naked in the court dock and was also found guilty of contempt of court for failing to display the ‘decency’ required by the court process.
Gough had claimed arresting him for walking around naked was a breach of his human rights and his right to freedom of expression.
Sheriff Fletcher said: ‘The court expects people to come here in a decent state of dress. That has been explained to you in the past. I gave you the opportunity to dress yourself.’

People Are Sick And Nuts
No, no real coverage by BMEWS on yesterday morning’s insanity in Aurora Colorado. Another seriously warped individual, brilliant and yet insane, went on a killing rampage for no reason at all. Wrapping himself up in body armor and a gas mask, carrying an assortment of weapons an a huge pile off ammunition, James Egan Holmes, 24, took over a crowded movie theater and just started killing people. 12 dead, 59 injured. So far. Hundreds of rounds fired. Utter mayhem. No motivation whatsoever. No ties to AQ or any other terrorist group. No co-conspirators. Just kill, kill, kill, and kill some more. And then somehow the police caught him. And when the federales searched his apartment, they found it was full of booby traps and fire bombs and worse.
It’s not like this Holmes guy was some drooling cretin. From what I gather he was well on his way to becoming a brain surgeon. But he was nuts, and his mother knew it. A bit of news says how some reporter called her up for comment, and got to her before she’d heard the news. “That sounds like him”, says Mom. In other words, she knew full well he was nuts, but did nothing about it.
And the press did what was expected of it. They hauled out every over-the-top verb they could find. They immediately did the “we need more gun control” angle. They all immediately faild Journo 101 and reported rumors, daydreams, and political agendas as facts. Plus they got most of the basic facts wrong. One story told how Holmes was carrying “6,000 rounds of clips” or somesuch, never mind the misnomer, or that such a pile of ammunition would weigh more than 120lb.
Perhaps the worst media offender was this ass wipe Brian Ross from ABC. Looks like he did ONE Google search on the “James Holmes Colorado” and the results gave him a Jim Holmes who belongs to a Colorado Tea Party group. Bias took over any remaining shred of common sense, professional integrity, or even basic journalistic skill (verify, verify, verify!!) ... and you know what followed. It does not matter that he later apologized, even if that was only 10 minutes later, which it wasn’t. Utter FAIL. Ross should be fired on the spot, and he and his network ought to be sued for libel. Tens of millions.
In an interesting twist, a counter-rumor is now going about that Holmes was part of some Black Ops fringe group of the Occupy Movement. Fact? Fantasy? Lie vs lie? Who knows.
Lesser journalists later ran to their keyboards to keep the story alive, and I can guarantee we will be deluged with Aurora Shooting Spree stories for days. A Fox News associate was killed in the theater. She had narrowly avoided being a victim in some earlier shooting. Some people in the theater heroically assisted others even as they were dying from their own wounds. And let’s not forget the statistics. Does this one now rank as #1, since it has the most people shot? Or is it still #2 or #3 because fewer people died? So far? Is it ahead or behind Columbine in number of shots fired? And hey, should we blame the movies - this one, another Batman film, apparently features some killer who shoots up a crowd at random, just for shits and giggles or to “make his point”. Or maybe we should blame video games, which have become extremely realistic and sophisticated, and the popular ones require the player to shoot dozens if not hundreds of people and creatures electronically to win. And while we will have the usual litter of stories calling for more gun control and the usual counter-litter of stories calling for universal carry, we will have very very few stories calling for national standards of sanity, early testing and detection thereof, and lifelong incarceration of the crazies found that way. Horrible, but that is what it would take to stop another iteration of this nascent national psycho-hobby. You have to get the loonies off the path. And you have to identify them early, even if they are your own children. Oh, and the left blames Rush Limbaugh for this one too. Others wonder if it wasn’t the other way around; that a nutcase liberal is acting out the film’s nutcase villain, whose name is a thinly disguised jape at Mitt Romney’s old company Bain Capital. Gosh, it wouldn’t be the first time that Hollywood has done “subtle” support for a leftist viewpoint or candidate ... and the Occupy folks are just one bunch of leftist extremist nutjobs out of many.
Speaking of needing her head examined, some dimwit woman in Peru wants to marry Urine Vandersloot. He admitted killing a woman in that country, and he probably offed Natalie Holloway on Aruba all those years ago.
People are deranged. Too bad it’s only when the seriously insane act up that we realize it. We are a culture in decline.

Protest Like An Egyptian
CAIRO (Reuters) - Protesters threw tomatoes and shoes at Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s motorcade on Sunday during her first visit to Egypt since the election of Islamist President Mohamed Mursi.
A tomato struck an Egyptian official in the face, and shoes and a water bottle landed near the armored cars carrying Clinton’s delegation in the port city of Alexandria.
A senior state department official said that neither Clinton nor her vehicle, which were around the corner from the incident, were struck by any of the projectiles.
Protesters chanted: “Monica, Monica”, a reference to Former President Bill Clinton’s extra-marital affair. Some chanted: “leave, Clinton”, Egyptian security officials said.
It was not clear who the protesters were or what political affiliations they had.
Hey, maybe they’re all Romney supporters.

Low Tide
Meh, I got nothing today. Same old Stupid on teh news. Just another day.
So here’s a pretty girl ...
What, you’d rather have your Daily Stupid? Fine
- A liberal essay on “the other big case the Supreme Court got right”, Citizens United v. Federal Elections Commission, which overturned parts of McCain-Feingold and “gave” corporations political free speech. Fine, he thinks the ObamaCare ruling is peachy keen. And without looking at the specifics too closely, it sounds like Citizens United was the right decision. But the guy starts off his essay with “Bush Stole The Election”. And it’s the MIDDLE of 2012.
Actually, there are only two cases in the past half-century that are notorious, from a liberal point of view: Bush v. Gore, which upheld the theft of the 2000 presidential election, and Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission, just two and a half years ago, which declared that corporations have a right of free speech under the First Amendment.
Stuck On Stupid much?
- Through the looking-glass, darkly: California introduces legislation to protect the RIGHTS of illegal aliens. Say what?? They call it the “anti-Arizona Bill”
The California bill, which has the support of over 100 immigrant rights groups, police chiefs and mayors, was drafted not only as a symbolic counter to legislation in neighboring Arizona, but also to push back against a federal program called Secure Communities that shares the same principles as Arizona’s law, supporters say.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE, established the Secure Communities program in partnership with local law enforcement agencies and the FBI to deport unauthorized immigrants.
Well, if Arizona’s law that parallels federal law is unconstitutional, what do you think California’s law that is directly opposed to federal law might be?
- Don’t be fooled, Americans are starting to embrace Obamacare says Juan Williams, Fox News’ left wing diversity sock puppet. Put a sock in it, sock puppet. You are too stupid to see your own mistakes, so your arguing position is completely invalid.
Watching President Obama’s response to Thursday’s Supreme Court decision upholding the constitutionality of his health care reform law, I could not help but think how different things would be if he had given the same speech two years ago.
He began his remarks from the White House by saying the Court had “reaffirmed a fundamental principle that here in America—in the wealthiest nation on Earth—no illness or accident should lead to any family’s financial ruin.”
Reaffirmed? If you ask most Americans, they will tell you the president and his party never made that point in the first place. All the talk was about “Cornhusker Kickbacks” and “Chicago-style politics,” to win votes in Congress. GOP critics hammered the plan as a “big government takeover” and “socialism.”
But with last week’s Supreme Court ruling in favor of the health care plan public opinion on the plan is starting to become more favorable.
All of which proves that talking points regurgitators and other mindless sock puppets CAN’T EVEN READ THEIR OWN WRITING. Duh. Hey, Juan - ‘ ... the COURT had “reaffirmed ...”’ Geez. Maybe repeated use of the cluebat will unstick this one, but I doubt it. Oh, and such a thing was NEVER EVER NEVER a “fundamental principle”. “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Socialized Medicine”? No, I don’t think so. Heck, health insurance didn’t even exist for more than 100 years after the nation was founded, nor was it even close to being anything like a near-universal jobs benefit until after WWII.
- The lying liars in the corksnocker media STILL don’t get it. Even in the midst of a barrage of well-hidden facts finally coming to the surface, the worst the press - even the ENEMY press at Fox News!! - will say about Obama’s first autobiography, ghost written by Bill Ayers and full of complete fabrications, is that it “projects a persona he wants to be”. Which is the Stuck On Stupid Sock Puppet way of saying “It’s total bullshit designed to make you believe in a person who doesn’t actually exist. Buy the lie and pull the lever.”
“Autobiographies are not really good sources if you’re looking for absolute complete factual accounts of someone’s life,” agreed Professor Early. “Autobiographies serve another kind of purpose for the person writing the book. I don’t think it much matters whether Barack Obama has told the absolute truth in Dreams From My Father. What’s important is how he wanted to construct his life.”
Crivens! How stupid do you really think we are anyway??
- Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
- Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
- Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
- Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
I think I’d just rather look at pretty girls on the beach ...

Unreal News
Showing you once again how unimportant you are, and how far, far more the world spins around the elite, Fox News leads this story in their Entertainment column. This is national, even international news.
Lost Cat: Kurt Cobain’s daughter offers $5G reward for missing pet
The daughter of late music legend Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean, has been left heartbroken after her little cat ran away.
Cobain, with her fiancé Isaiah Silva, has been scouring her West Hollywood, Calif., neighborhood and posting missing flyers. She’s even taken to Twitter to appeal for locals to find her kitten, named Zero.
Cobain, 19, is so desperate to find her pussy cat that she is even offering a massive reward.
How much?
$5,000!
Describing her beloved fur child as “a skinny black cat,” the daughter of the late Nirvana frontman said she raised Zero since she was four weeks old.
Blah blah blah, and let’s add that daughter and her nasty ass dope fiend mother Courtney Love don’t get along too well and use Twitter to trade barbs.
Horry Clap. What a sorry mess Fox News has become. On the other hand, I didn’t even know this girl existed until I saw this bit of “news”.
Mother, daughter, and the lost $5000 pussy.

Bamboo: is it straw or sticks?
Strange news from last week:
Pigs die as houses are blown down
Hundreds of pigs died when a strong wind blew all their houses down at Dongxiang county, in south China’s Jiangxi province.
The region has seen a massive increase in the last 10 years in the number of pig farms which is now a staple of the local economy.
But although locals are famous for their pig breeding skills their building skills are not so renowned – and officials now estimate that the strong winds that the region recently experienced had flattened 30 farms, killing hundreds of pigs in the process.
Officials are now planning checks on all new pig farms and existing ones to make sure the building regulations are up to standard.
Farmer Zeng Huobao, 48, whose pig farm collapsed killing all 200 pigs said the collapse had ruined him and he’s planning to sue the builders who put up property in the first place.
He said: “I had one of the best droves of pigs - now I have nothing.”
In mostly unrelated news over in the UK, bacon prices are about to jump 20%, for the same reason that the price of eggs is way up: new PETA-esque “cage free” livestock regulations are dramatically raising the cost of raising the animals.
Bacon prices could soar by 20% after new EU pig welfare reforms banning stalls set to come into force
Britain’s breakfast lovers are facing a hefty hike in the cost of their favourite fry-up as the price of bacon could increase by 20 per cent next year.
A new report has revealed that the cost of the much-loved meat could dramatically increase when new EU pig welfare rules come into force.
The British Pig Executive (Bpex) has warned that pig meat supplies could plummet by between 5 per cent and 10 per cent at the start of 2013.
It says a ban on sow stalls could lead to pork producers who are unable or unwilling to comply with the new rules leaving the industry.
And the bacon hike warning comes as the price of eggs has soared for Britain’s shoppers in the wake of the EU-wide ban on battery cages introduced in January.
Bpex deputy chief executive Mick Sloyan warned that as the EU produced around 20 million tonnes of pig meat each year, even a 5 per cent drop could have ‘very sizeable effects’ .
‘We are forecasting wholesale price rises of at least 10 per cent year-on-year which could rise to 20 per cent if production is reduced aggressively’ he told trade magazine The Grocer.
If pig meat production drops and prices rise, bacon would be affected first, he said.

Fair And Balanced?
I can’t say if Fox News is getting on the gun control bandwagon again, or if they’ve decided to report more stories of violent crime in the wake of the Treyvon story, or if it’s just been a busy week for the shooters, but I did notice that today’s news has quite a lot of these stories. Maybe it is a good thing, maybe not. Depends on how you want to spin it. But people shoot each other every day in America, for a variety of reasons; some groups of people are more violence prine than others seemingly, and some areas are far more violence prone than others, no question about it. Perhaps if Fox were to just report them all, it would open everyone’s eyes to the reality. Raise their awareness. The stories are out there, locally. And many could be written if reporters made a tiny bit of effort. Perhaps it would be best not to categorize them at first, and just let a pattern emerge. You can see it already if you know how to read between the line a little: “Police in Gary are looking for a purple PT Cruiser and a white Cadillac involved in the shooting.” Gangs and ghettos and felons, oh my. And crazy psychotic evil people.
5 Detroit men charged with kidnapping, torturing, killing 2 women.
Texas flash mob beach party shooting, 1 dead, 3 wounded.
Shot dead in the street for his sneakers.
Father dies as human shield shot many times, protecting his 8 year old son Tre.
violent felon Nakwon Foxworth shoots 4 cops in Brooklyn shootout.
AZ Taco Bell drive-through customer shoots special needs pedestrian.
Possibly hispanic guy in hoodie robs Walmart, shoots and kills manager.
and the list goes on. And on. Albert Rodriguez Arias stabs his elderly father 6 times with knife, turns himself in. Maybe it’s high time the news groups started running the stories. There is a lot more crime going on than most of us realize; don’t just report the most sensational cases.
Speaking of sensational ...
Taking it up a notch? Florida prostitute borrows idea from “McNuggets hooker”, will have sex for 2 double cheeseburgers. And a $40 tip. Busted!
No word on what she’d do for fries and a Coke.

Bad Eggs At Easter
HOLFORD, England – A child on an Easter egg hunt organized by a pre-school group in an English village stumbled upon an unexpected surprise—a hand grenade.
The hunt was taking place in a field near the town of Holford, Somerset, on Saturday, This Is Somerset reported:
[ Police were forced to close a section of a main road in Somerset this morning after a hand grenade was found during an Easter Egg Hunt.
One of the families taking part in the hunt near Holford raised the alarm after discovering what appeared to be a hand grenade on the side of the road. ]
The area was cordoned off and the bomb disposal squad destroyed the grenade in a controlled explosion, police said. It also resulted in the closure of a highway for a few of hours.
“We were beginning to count up the eggs at the end of the hunt and I saw a boy of three standing on an object,” Stuart Moffatt, who was attending the hunt with his three children, told the Daily Mail.
“It was brown and about four inches high. It looked like an Easter egg, but it was a hand grenade.
“I was shocked. The boy who was standing on it thought it was a rock. The leaders did a great job keeping the children calm.”
The grenade was believed to have been a relic from World War II, according to the Mail.

Oh Snap
Yo, Your Momma So Loud ...
Florida teen calls police to report mom having sex
A Florida teenager called 911 last week to ask police to place her in a children’s shelter because she “heard her mother having sex.”
The 15-year-old girl felt disrespected when overhearing her mother having sex late one night, so she called Panama City police to report the situation, The Smoking Gun first reported on its website.
When police arrived at the home in the early hours on Jan. 19, the girl’s mother explained that she was with her boyfriend and didn’t intend to wake her daughter. But their bedrooms are right next to each other, according to the police report, which was obtained by FoxNews.com.
At some point, the mother and daughter had an argument, the police report said.
The teen, who told police that there was no abuse, originally asked to be taken to the Hidle House, which is a temporary home for children who are homeless or abused. But after speaking with a representative, she decided it was almost time for school and decided to stay put.
Disrespected? I think she was just jealous.

TSA Gone Wild
A manager at the Transportation Security Administration at Dulles airport has been arrested for allegedly running a prostitution ring out of a Maryland hotel.
According to court documents, the agency had received a complaint of “very similar” activities back in 2009.
Bryant Jermaine Livingston, 39, was arrested while on the job as a supervisor of TSA agents at Dulles International Airport. The Manassas, Virginia resident, said by phone he is innocent of the charges, but declined to discuss the details of the case.
According to charging documents, on February 15th, Livingston used cash to rent a room at the Crowne Plaza Hotel on Georgia Ave. in Silver Spring, Md. The hotel manager recognized Livingston as a previous customer who, on earlier occasions had “groups of males and females frequently entering and exiting Livingston’s room,” according to a court document.
And then the cops showed up ...
Responding officers say they saw, “11 people inside the room [including] three naked females and four males attempting to get dressed. Multiple people were laying on the two beds and other people were sitting in chairs and standing in the room.”
Sounds pretty innocent to me. Just a dozen complete strangers getting together for an orgy. Must be one of those flashmob things.
I’m so glad that everyone at TSA is of high moral fiber.
A spokesman for the Transportation Security Administration confirmed that Livingston had worked for the agency since Oct. 29, 2002, but he is now “no longer employed by TSA.”
In a subsequent interview, one of the men in the room told Montgomery County police that, “he paid Livingston $100 to enter the hotel room to engage in sexual activities.” Charging documents also say a TSA investigator told police that, “in 2009, a very similar complaint concerning Livingston was on record. The complaint alleged that Livingston was operating a prostitution ring and charging individuals $25. for sexual acts.”
$25 in 2009, and $100 in 2012. And the government says we’re not having serious inflation!
I’m waiting for Obama to stick his nose into this one too ... since Livingston could another one of those sons Teh Won never had.

Today’s Lie
I was laughing so hard at this whopper I shot some coffee up my nose. Horry clap, who does he think actually believes this rot? Pull the Gulf drilling permits, cancel the Keystone pipeline, forbid any new drilling on federal land, the continued moratorium for ANWR and offshore, billions thrown at useless green alternatives as a way to pay off his financial backers, his impossible mpg mandate to CAFE for cars, the Supertrain to nowhere, the moronic continuation of food based ethanol which wastes billions and has doubled the price of food in 6 years, ... the list is endless. And let’s not forget Transportation Secretary Chu, who is all for $5/gal gas. And the US still does not have one more refinery or nuke reactor than we did in 1973.
President Barack Obama is hitting back at Republican criticism of his energy policies and his role in controlling gasoline prices.
Obama used his weekly radio and Internet address Saturday to underscore his administration’s work to develop alternative energy sources and increase fuel efficiency.
“I’m going to keep doing everything I can to help you save money on gas, both right now and in the future,” Obama said. “I hope politicians from both sides of the aisle join me.”
He accused Republicans of a “bumper sticker” approach to solving the nation’s energy problems.
“We can’t just drill our way to lower gas prices — not when we consume 20 percent of the world’s oil,” Obama said in the address
After 39 straight days of increases, prices fell nearly a penny from Tuesday to Thursday and held steady on Friday at $3.758 per gallon for the national average. The lull won’t last long, and gas is still nearly 50 cents higher than it was at the beginning of the year.
And this news is from CBS, one of the biggest Obama whores going.
I seem to recall that when we had that huge gas price under Bush, which the media blamed him for 10,000%, (of course Obama gets a free ride; none of this is His fault) and the oil stock prices and corporate profits skyrocketed to the point where they nearly equaled those of the iPad people this year, and the government was condemning speculators, that it all came crashing down when Bush announced that new offshore drilling would commence. Just the word that new supplies were being dug for, not actually delivered at this time, was all it took. And the crude price per barrel dropped like a rock. We went from $4/gal to $1.99 in two weeks it seemed, and the price kept dropping for several months after that. Perhaps the economy going to rack and ruin around the same time had something to do with it, but all these years later the economy doesn’t seem to be doing all that much better, and we’re right back to $4 gas again.
The truth is, Obamba isn’t doing squat to bring down gas prices. He and Chu want them this high, even higher. What else can you believe? Another presidency, and another bunch of years, and still the USA has a self-destructive energy policy. Still. How many times do you need to be kicked in the wallet before you see the reality? The government is not on the people’s side on this. And some in government are actively the people’s enemy on this.

Fake And Inaccurate
An Army of Andrews fights all the BS memes, all the time. I found this one at CNN this morning while looking for news stories. It’s a 15 picture photo essay of the Por ‘n Starvin’, their harmonious-with-nature home brought low by Glowball Warming!!!1111!!
On the shore of a vanishing island
Daesung Lee sees global connections the rest of us often don’t recognize or choose not to dwell on.
Lee, an international photojournalist, spent two months photographing the people of Ghoramara Island, located in the Ganges Delta region in India’s West Bengal state. The island has been dramatically affected by global climate change.
“I have researched the effect of global warming, which is caused by mass consumption and pollution. Since the 1980s, more than 50% of the Ghoramara has vanished due to erosion by the sea. As a result two-thirds of the population have moved away from the island,” Lee says.
“This world is more connected than we can imagine by globalization. Most of the products we use for everyday life are produced by people we never know.”
He says many people who aren’t involved in the consumption of these products become “environmental refugees.”
“I hope people realize that climate change is more serious than we know and we have a major responsibility for it. I also hope people consider the impact that our consumption has on the world … and make efforts to reduce it by recycling products and using them long term.”
Working on the remote island had its challenges. With no electricity, Lee was forced to leave the island to go to the mainland every three days to charge his camera batteries.
He posed villagers on the shore and took portraits of them in juxtaposition with the beauty of the vanishing island.
“The villagers in Ghoramara have begun to save money in preparation to buy new farms,” Lee says. “I could see the traces of a heritage vanishing by the rising tides. Exposed roots of plants destroyed by the erosion serve to illustrate the absence of foundation in the lives of these people. The sea is swallowing up their past, while their future remains unknown.”
– Robert W. Johnson, CNN
What he isn’t telling you is that the island of Ghoramara is little more than a hump of mud on the outside edge of a bend in the Rupnarayan River where it dumps into the Bay of Bengal at the north end of the Indian Ocean. It’s a pile of silt with some grass growing on it. As anyone who knows anything about rivers knows, they are constantly changing. Riverine silt islands come and go all the time. It’s just that in this overpopulated and poorest corner of the Turd World, people will live on any piece of somewhat dry ground they can find. In this case, there was probably no more room in the nearby town of Kakdwip (is that the ancestral home of Barney Frank??) and it was either live on the silt pile or share the stanky mangrove swamp to the East with a bunch of tigers. Climate change, global warming, increased consumption, and insufficient recycling have nothing to do with this eroding mud pile whatsoever. But it does make a better picture than some lone polar bear clinging to a bit of sea ice, right? And most folks won’t even read the whole one paragraph story, they’ll just look at the pictures. And then Blame Bush.
See the map at Wiki, or Google Map up 21.916667, 88.129722.
Fight the meme. Do not accept the lie.
PS - the Rupnarayan River was dammed some years ago, some miles upstream at Kolaghat, for a hydropower generator. This lowered the level of the river, perhaps allowing this pile of silt mud to surface and dry out in the first place. The province of West Bengal is in desperate need of electricity, so it is entirely probable that the electricity people - government employees - have been running more water through their turbines to produce it. That would put more water in the river, which would in turn rise up in level, and erode or drown the mud island as it should have done all along.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
