McGyver This

I repaired the air conditioning with a length of rope, a keyhole saw, and a pair of vise grips.

And I only used the saw because I couldn’t find a chopstick.

In. Your. Face. MacGyver.

Digital Defenestration

Throw Out Your Old Windows, Get New Windows For Free!

Ah, if only we were talking about double hungs, casements, and double glazing, Peiper would be dancing a jig.

Alas. This is merely ... merely ... Microsoft inviting the entire world to update from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10. For free. Invitation only. RSVP.

If you have not yet received an invitation, don’t worry. With only a couple billion PCs in the invite queue, it might take Redmond a bit of time to get around to sending yours out, but it shows up as Update KB3035583. You can get this update manually too if you want.

The actual roll out of Win 10 won’t be for another month or two. July, but don’t be shocked if there is a delay or two. Or five.

If you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8, you should already have had an invitation to “reserve” a copy of Windows 10. If not, run Windows Update to see if any updates are available for your PC. The one you want is KB3035583. This puts a small white Windows logo – the GWX or Get Windows 10 app – in the system tray on the right hand side of the Taskbar. Alternatively, you should be able to find the invitation by going to Windows Update in the Control Panel (via System and Security).

Huh. Well, I just looked on mine, and no invite. [pout] And then I ran a Windows Update and all I found was 4 security patches and an “important” update for the MS Silverlight bit of junk. No KB3035583 to be found. OTOH, I haven’t yet restarted from that update, so who knows?

Windows 10 will be released as a free update on 29 July, Microsoft has announced.

It will be the last major release of the 29-year-old operating system before Microsoft switches to a “Windows as a service” system, which entails updates being rolled out when ready.

This marks a change in Microsoft’s business model. The operating system will be offered as a free upgrade for users of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 within the first year.

Each version of Windows has cost upwards of £100, although the majority of Windows users receive new versions of the operating system when buying a new computer, and not by upgrading the software themselves.

Microsoft made Windows 8.1, which restored the Start menu, as a free update to Windows 8. Windows 10 will bring back more familiar elements from Windows 7 and combine them with the modern look of Windows 8.1.

More than 4 million people have been beta testing the public preview of Windows 10 for the past couple of months, helping Microsoft fix problems before release. Recent reports indicate that Windows 10 is far from ready, with multiple bugs and glitches yet to be fixed.

Setting a date for release could help accelerate the development cycle, but it is crucial that Microsoft’s first public outing for Windows 10 is solid to avoid comparisons with bug-riddled Windows Vista from 2006.

Microsoft’s long-derided Internet Explorer will be replaced by Edge on Windows 10, while the operating system promises to unify the Windows ecosystem of apps and services across desktop, laptop and tablet PCs as well as smartphones.

Microsoft’s voice-controlled digital assistant, Cortana, will also make its debut beyond smartphones with Windows 10, rivalling Apple’s Siri and Google’s Now. Microsoft recently announced that Cortana would also be made available for the iPhone and Android devices.

The Redmond-based software company needs Windows 10 to be a hit both with consumers and businesses after difficulties in persuading organisations to upgrade from the 14-year-old Windows XP.

Microsoft’s “free upgrade offer*” says: “We will offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified new or existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year.” The asterisk links to a rider that says “some hardware/software requirements apply and feature availability may vary by device”. It may not be possible to update some Windows Phone smartphones, and it won’t be possible to update Windows RT devices.

The rider also says: “Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 Update required.” This implies that if you are running Windows 7 or Windows 8 then you will have to update to Windows 7 SP1 and Windows 8.1 Update – both are free – in order to get Windows 10 installed via the Windows Update service. This will deliver Windows 10 without you having to download and install the new operating system.

Pretty sure this PC is running 64 bit Win 7 Pro SP1. Maybe they haven’t added the full set of bells and whistles to Win 10 Pro 64, if such a thing is even going to exist.

Frankly, I miss XP. That OS was utterly bulletproof for me. Come to think of it, so was Win 98. I lucked out and avoided Win 2000 and Vista.

This link takes you to the Reserve Your Copy page at Microsoft.

this gets complicated. but it’s where our world is today. no worries tho, it’ll get worse.

The world today.
Sure is different from the one I grew up in.

Words really do fail me here.
Except to say ... I feel sorry for any child brought up in that sort of unnatural mess.  Like the Elton John love nest.  How do you explain to a kid when other kids make comments as they will, that one of these two men is mommy.

Revealed: The bizarre family tree at the heart of an extraordinary court battle over one little girl - involving two lesbian mothers, a gay sperm donor and a transsexual lover now living with a man

· Girl is the biological child of lesbian woman and gay sperm donor
· They see her occasionally and she lives with mother’s lesbian ex
· The step-mother’s former partner, a transsexual, wants contact with girl
· But judge rules said that another effective parent would risk harm

By Vanessa Allen for the Daily Mail

A transexual man went to court yesterday for the right to contact the child of his former lesbian partner.
He brought the civil case despite having no biological connection with the nine-year-old girl.
Identified only as Alice, she was born to two lesbians who used donor sperm from a man also in a same-sex relationship.

image

The couple – known as Rachel and Helen – split up when she was three. Rachel, who was Alice’s natural mother, was sectioned with schizophrenia and Helen entered a relationship with Matthew, the man who has brought the case.

When he met Helen he was a woman having treatment to live as a man.

They were together for four years – Alice living with them – and he claims she called him ‘daddy’ and he became her effective stepfather.
They split up in 2013 and Matthew has had no contact with Alice, who has been diagnosed with autism, for almost a year.

Having completed his gender reassignment, Matthew asked the Family Court to allow him to apply for an order for contact with Alice.

His request was opposed by both Helen and Rachel, who said Alice had started to call herself Daniel and claim she was a boy while living with
Matthew.

Helen was said to be very concerned that he encouraged Alice to wear boys’ clothes and told her to avoid playing with ‘gender appropriate toys’.
She told the court in London that Matthew had been ‘controlling and verbally and mentally abusive’ during their relationship, and that his testosterone treatment had made him aggressive.

Helen, who suffers from a personality disorder and has limited mobility, said she did not want Alice to stay overnight at the home of Matthew and his new partner, James.

Rachel, who had been Helen’s civil partner, said Alice already had contact with both her mothers and her biological father, the gay sperm donor.
In a statement to the court, Rachel, who is now living in the community in supported accommodation, said: ‘It is time to put the dangerous drama of the past behind her once and for all. She must be allowed to simply settle down. She has all that she needs.’

Matthew, who also has psychiatric problems, said Alice knew he used to be a woman but had only known him as a man.

His sex change had been explained to her ‘in an age-appropriate way’, the court was told. Matthew denied that he had encouraged her to call herself Daniel or say she was a boy.

He said he had played a central role in helping to raise her.

Deputy High Court Judge Clifford Bellamy said Matthew had applied to the court for permission to ask for an order for contact with Alice.
The judge said he accepted that Matthew may have become a ‘social and psychological parent’ to Alice but said his contact application could be ‘potentially damaging’ for an autistic child.

Such an order would require months of psychiatric assessments, social services reports and court hearings and would be stressful for the family, he said.

The judge refused Matthew’s contact request, saying: ‘There is a risk of Matthew’s application disrupting Alice’s life to such an extent that she would be harmed by it.

‘Alice’s story is an example of the different ways in which modern family life is formed. Modern family life can be complicated.’
None of the family can be identified for legal reasons and the judge said he had changed the names of everyone involved to protect Alice’s anonymity.

Gotta Train Him

Summer mini-league bowling! We almost managed a sweep last night, taking the first and third games by a handy margin, but we lost the 2nd game by just 4 pins. Oh well, 5-2 beats a shutout any day. New bowler G is showing some bad habits. Somebody really needs to show him how to make a less bouncy approach and how to get his arm swing going properly. And to keep his eyes down. And to throw to his target. Beginners have so much to learn, but a good swing is the very first thing.

I tried showing him the basic Luggage Throw last night, but I don’t think I really had his attention. Still, it was fun for me to go back to that old release, and use it to throw a 192 game just dinking around. It’s a very forgiving release that puts a decent amount of spin on the ball, but - as always - it’s all in the follow through. Straight wrist, hand in the ball at 3 o’clock. Pushaway, swing, squat, lunge, project the ball, thumb out, DON’T FLOP YOUR HAND, lift and follow through with your arm coming up to “answer the phone”. The ball spin is imparted with the sides of your fingers if you keep your wrist stiff laterally, giving you a fairly forward tilt axis, which gives a gentler more arcing hook. If you let your wrist sag down laterally, as it would if you were swinging up a suitcase to put it on the counter, then the tilt axis is more vertical, and the ball will react more sharply down the end of the lane. So even this basic toss is adaptable, which is why it’s good to have in your arsenal. Plus you can do it when your arm is tired, and even if you choke the follow through a bit the ball still hooks.

I want to have the fun experience of having the huge advantage of a low average beginner on my team who gets better every week. Sure, he’s got an 86 average now, but with a bit of work we can get him to the 160s by the end of the summer season, and still get the handicap advantage.

nutty professor says, “america overreacted to 9/11, widespread panic ensued in America”

The woman is a moonbat. A loony tune.
And people seek her advice ?  Yup.

Irish-born Professor Richardson is an internationally renowned scholar of terrorism and security studies and regularly advises policy makers.

So now ya know why things are so screwed up.

I’m no expert on “the troubles”, but I don’t recall the Brits being attacked with such a staggering loss of life in one day in any city here.

Americans ‘overreacted’ to 9/11 terror attacks because they’re not as resilient as Brits, says Oxford University’s first female vice-chancellor

· Terrorism expert Professor Louise Richardson said 9/11 provoked such a response because violent extremism was a ‘new experience’ in the US

· Widespread panic ensued in US after atrocity caused almost 3,000 deaths

· First female vice-chancellor said UK is more ‘resilient’ in the face of terror

· Said combating psychological impact of terror is the best counter measure

By Eleanor Harding, Education Correspondent For The Daily Mail

Americans ‘overreacted’ to the 9/11 attacks, according to the newly appointed first female vice-chancellor of Oxford University.

Terrorism expert Professor Louise Richardson said the 2001 atrocity provoked such a response because violent extremism was a ‘new experience’ in the US.

Widespread panic ensued in America after al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger airliners and flew them into buildings, causing almost 3,000 deaths.
In contrast, British citizens have shown themselves to be more ‘resilient’ in the face of terror when dealing with violence during the Troubles in Northern Ireland, she said.

Professor Richardson, who lived and worked in the US for many years, said that combating the psychological impact of terror was the best counter measure.

She said: ‘The whole genius of terrorism is to have a greater psychological impact.

‘The reason random attacks have so much more impact is that if no-body is chosen, no-body is safe and the fear is much more widespread. I think central to any counter-terrorism campaign should be a resilient population.

‘And I have to say the British population in the course of the Troubles and violence in Northern Ireland proved really quite resilient I think – far more so than the US and the scale of the reaction and overreaction in the US to the 9/11 atrocity.

‘This was a reflection of the fact that this was a such a new experience for the US.’

Irish-born Professor Richardson is an internationally renowned scholar of terrorism and security studies and regularly advises policy makers.

Professor Richardson, who has led St Andrews for more than six years, was nominated to become the first female vice chancellor in Oxford University’s history.

and now I wait

I cleaned up a scrubby patch of barren ground on the edge of this building’s parking lot and put down deer resistant wildflower seeds. It’s a nice sized area, about 180 sq ft, the size of a parking space, and pretty much flat. So it took a couple of big bags of seeds, but wildflowers are pretty inexpensive. It had been such an Eeyore Zone, all covered with pine needles and sticks, with just one or two valiant hostas trying to survive. If only half the seeds take well, then it will become a thick meadow of colorful blooms. And it’s a no work garden. Sow ‘em and let ‘em grow.

All told, I think I spent about 2 1/2 hours cleaning and planting, and about $15 on seeds.  Neighborhood beautification. Si se puede!

New NYC Crime: Manspreading

If You Thunk Your Junk, You’re A Punk?

Nope. Not that blatant. And such a thing is already illegal, under “indecent exposure” or something like that. No, this new one makes perceived aggressive rudeness a crime. Remember that grump bully on the school bus who always “reserved” a seat for his pal who got on at a later stop? And there wasn’t much you could do about it because you were 9. But you wanted to. Oh yes, yes you did. This new one puts legal teeth in the comeback you couldn’t make then, but takes it to a feminazi level of crazy now.

image

It is now against the law (for a male - only a male??) to sit in a slouched manner with his legs “open” and “taking up too much space”.

Bad news, tall men with a poor sense of boundaries: the NYPD have had enough of your nonsense. Yes, after op–eds in the New York Times (£), a popular crowdshaming Tumblr campaign and a series of public service ads from the Metropolitan Transport Authority, ‘manspreading’, or ‘sitting with your legs slightly too far apart’, as it used to be known, has apparently become a criminal offence.

According to a recent report from the Police Reform Organising Project, at least two men have been arrested and charged on grounds of the M–word, “presumably because they were taking up more than one seat and therefore inconveniencing other riders”. Rather than simply throwing out the charges, the judge issued an order that only guarantees that the men won’t suffer further repercussions if they avoid getting arrested again in the near future. It’s all part of a numbers driven crackdown on subway behaviour that’s also seen arrests for break dancing, walking between the cars and – collective air punch – people putting their feet on the seats.

So this will put an end to passive-agressive subway bullying forever, once and for all. Let’s hope.

But is this really necessary? Is it even vaguely legal?

And ignore, for a second, the fact that this ‘law’ gives the police more power to selectively arrest whoever they like: it’s pretty telling that notorious menace Matthew Broderick hasn’t yet been brought to justice.

No, the main problem with arresting people for anti–social behaviour is that anti-social behaviour shouldn’t be illegal in the first place.

Criminal acts have clear boundaries, as in the case of murder, tax evasion, or torrenting episodes of Game Of Thrones; sitting with your legs too wide on a subway seat does not.

And what about women? Aren’t there some women out there who sit with a wide stance? Too wide? And I’m not picking on the heavy ladies; I’m talking about the violent crazy ones in that Savages gang, and the sistas who cut a bitch over some McNuggets. Are you gonna tell them to move their big old legs?

America catches up as the supremes endorse the 5th century.

From the BBC … Just another bag of bull**** from another court. This time the supremes.  Nobody denied her a job because of religion. Abercrombie has (or they once had) a very specific dress code.  An image.  And a head scarf was not a part of that image.  But our glorious supreme court got suckered on this.

Hey …. if a company is paying out money and is in the field of fashion in some way, then why don’t they have a right to insist on a dress code?
This is not the first time Abercrombie has been in court on the issue of appearance.

Some years ago when we were living in Riverside, Calif., this rather large pile of flab and cellulite applied for a job at a gym in Ca.  They refused to hire her as they thought her mass of flab would not be in keeping with their image of health.

So she sued and of course she won.

Was a time when someone like that would see an incentive and loose weight but no.
In the modern world, just kick off ur shoes, make yourself comfy and sue.

H/T BBC News

US Muslim in Abercrombie hijab court win

“I was a teenager who loved fashion and was eager to work for Abercrombie & Fitch,” said Ms Elauf in a statement after the court released its decision.
Ms Elauf was 17 years old when the discrimination occurred during a job interview at a shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 2008.

“Observance of my faith should not have prevented me from getting a job. I am glad that I stood up for my rights”, she said after the ruling.

In an 8-1 verdict, the court ruled that Abercrombie had violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act, which bans discrimination based on religious beliefs and practices.

Groups representing Jews, Sikhs, Christian, gay, and lesbian rights organisations filed papers in court in solidarity with Ms Elauf, who told reporters she sought to protect the rights of people of all faiths at work.

In 2013 Abercrombie & Fitch Co settled with two American Muslim women who were targeted by management for their use of the hijab. Each woman was awarded $71,000 (£47,000).

Abercrombie & Fitch Co has since reversed its policy on headscarves.

Abercrombie & Fitch argued that Elauf couldn’t succeed without first showing that the employer had “actual knowledge” of her need for a religious accommodation. But the Court disagreed, and sent the case back down to the lower court for further consideration.

The controversy began in 2008 when then 17-year-old Samantah Elauf sought a job with the retailer. Prior to the interview, Elauf was nervous she might not be hired because of the black headscarf that she wears for religious reasons. She interviewed with assistant manager Heather Cooke, however, and although she was told that the company’s “look policy” meant she shouldn’t wear a lot of make up, black clothing or nail polish, her head scarf never came up.

But after the interview Cooke sought approval from her district manager. She said she told the manager that she assumed Elauf was Muslim and figured she wore the head scarf for religious reasons. The manager said Elauf shouldn’t be hired because the scarf was inconsistent with the look policy that bans head gear.

bbc

What the article here hasn’t mentioned and come to think of it, neither did CNN in theirs,
is that A & F says her head scarf conflicted with their “Look Policy,” which derives from its focus on what the company calls its
East Coast collegiate style.

So the bottom line is that the folks who foot the bill have no rights.

No, really, Honest ur honor, I didn’t know smoking was bad for me. boo-hoo. nobody said a word.

I happen to see these today .... I’m not posting the articles but merely sharing.

It’s pure bull**** and you all know it is.  How in the freekin world can a court come down in favor of a lying no good shit and his lying pretty good but still a shit, lawyer.

Oh big surprise.

image

As I understand the news on radio, one of em died. Good and I hope it hurt and I hope the lawyers get the same.

This is such miserable underhanded bullpoo.  After all these years someone did not know?  Can anyone believe that?
Does Canada not have warnings on their packs?

It just plain pisses me off when things like this happen.  I’m not a smoker but if you are, you’ll be paying for this.
I hope the companies have an appeal in place and the the liar dies before he gets to spend a penny of this theft.  And the same kind thoughts for the judge or judges.  I really do not understand.  What have I missed?

Oh well, lets move on.

Golly boys and girls ... what do we have here?

Lets hope Britain (dragging France by the hand, as Churchill once put it) no longer has a treaty with Poland in which they:

Guarantee Poland’s Territorial Integrity.

Speaking of Government Spying…

It’s official - the Department of Justice (Why am I thinking of the Ministry of Love from 1984?) is studying “Far Right Social Media Use”.

We’re on the radar folks.  There is no rumored evil from the Obama admin that hasn’t proved out.  We’re being investigated like criminals.

Here’s the article from The American Spectator

DOJ Collecting Your ‘Right-Wing’ Social Media Posts

I like this quote:

The study draws more upon right-wing forums than upon the corners of the web inhabited by Islamist extremists.

“We will collect posts made in four active forums used by members of the far-right and three from the Islamic Extremist community, as well as posts made in Facebook, LiveJournal, Twitter, YouTube, and Pastebin accounts used by members of each movement,” the grant said.

“The findings will be used to document both the prevalence and variation in the ideological content of posts from members of each movement,” the grant continued. “In addition, we will assess the value of these messages in the social status of the individual posting the message and the function of radical messages in the larger on-line identity of participants in extremist communities generally.”

The project will also “identify the hidden networks of individuals who engage in extremist movements based on geographic location and ideological similarities.”

...and this from Fox News

Justice Department funding study on ‘far-right’ social media use

“There is currently limited knowledge of the role of technology and computer mediated communications (CMCs), such as Facebook and Twitter, in the dissemination of messages that promote extremist agendas and radicalize individuals to violence,” according to the NIJ grant. “The proposed study will address this gap through a series of qualitative and quantitative analyses of posts from various forms of CMC used by members of both the far-right and Islamic extremist movements.”

It wouldn’t be complete without these links to the original.  Officially they lead to the National Institute of Justice, same ministry, different department.:
NIJ Award Detail: An Assessment of Extremist Groups Use of Web Forums, Social Media, and Technology to Enculturate and Radicalize Individuals to Violence

...and this one:
Solicitation Title:Research and Evaluation on Domestic Radicalization to Violent Extremism

We are being investigated as if we were terrorists and criminals.  We are a seditious lot, but the last I checked dissent, an insistence on the the rule of law with our Constitution paramount and all the rest, were not terrorist acts or criminal acts in any way.  Our ideas, beliefs and hopes are only a threat to the people who want to criminalize them.

When they make us criminals, what’s the old saying?  May as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb?

and they keep coming, with no end in sight.

Don’t be fooled by a headline here and there that may appear reasonable.

Europe is doomed.  Their future has been cancelled.

France and Germany especially and of course this place that ppl continue to forget is an island.

When this place fills up I guess the excess will try and make it to the USA.

Thank heaven for guns in your hands, cos some day folks, I really believe it could come to that.  You think things are bad on the borders over there now?  Hey .... there’s billions in hard cash in people smuggling. That’s one hell of an incentive unless somehow someway you figure a way to stop them.  Without btw allowing the SOBs access to lawyers paid for by you and by not recognizing this “human rights” industry thing.

Just ranting cos I don’t see an end to this.

France and Germany reject EU migrant quota plan and say Italy and Greece need to do more to strengthen their borders

They insist the plan doesn’t take into account ‘efforts already undertaken’

Added that Italy and Greece make it too easy for migrants to enter Europe

European Commission hopes to ease pressure on Italy and Greece

Med countries are struggling to deal with thousands of immigrants arriving

5,000 migrants crossing from Libya saved from the Med in just three days

By Imogen Calderwood For Mailonline

France and Germany have slammed an EU plan to ease migrant pressures in the southern member states, claiming it doesn’t take into account their ‘efforts already undertaken’.

The emergency proposals are designed to relieve Italy and Greece, which are struggling to deal with thousands of immigrants crossing the Mediterranean from Libya.

But the interior ministers of France and Germany released a joint statement today claiming that the proposals are insufficiently ‘balanced’.

Ministers Bernard Cazeneuve and Thomas de Maiziere insisted a better balance between ‘responsibility’ and ‘solidarity’ was needed.

They added that the ‘efforts already undertaken’ by countries to admit asylum seekers should be ‘better taken into account’.

image

The statement pointed out that nearly three-quarters of asylum applications in the EU are made in five member states – Germany, France, Sweden, Italy and Hungary.

Spain and eastern European states have also expressed concerns.

The European Commission issued the proposal last week, in an attempt to share out the 40,000 Syrian and Eritrean migrants reaching Italy and Greece with other member countries.

But Germany and France, under the current proposal, would take nearly 40 per cent between them.

The statement said: ‘This temporary relocalisation mechanism must be founded on two principles of equal importance: responsibility and solidarity. We believe that the balance between these two principles has not yet been reached in the proposal presented by the Commission.’

The EU plan takes into account a country’s GDP, unemployment figures, population size and past number of asylum-seekers.

Hey .. some of you may get a laff outta this.  Last year sometime, or maybe it was early in this one, the EU changed something with regard to dues paid by member states. Monies based on GDP I believe.
Well ... the EU decided that the UK had to include monies earned by prostitutes in their GDP.

Now how that’s done I have no way of knowing.

Lyndon??

the continuing burden carried by ….. who else?

Catch the video at the link, and take a look at mommy dearest.

Hell of a story.

Authorities here will not be happy till the whole damn island is over run totally by muzzies and black bastards like these.

Imagine .... simply tell immigration you’re a queer and in fear for your life in your home country and the welcome mat is out.

I’d be willing to bet if it were possible to time travel and show the tommies of the 40s what became of their country, they’d all of em throw down their arms, revolt and open the door to the Germans.
Yeah a bit extreme alright. But they might have refused to fight in Europe.

Oh .... there’s a report in a paper today that says police in America shoot and kill two of their citizens every day.
We need those cops here but they’d have to kill more than two a day cos were aren’t dealing with real humans but cockroaches over here.

This is the violent mother of a teenage murderer who successfully claimed asylum in Britain because she is a lesbian and has been allowed to live here despite her string of convictions.

Sandra Espeut’s gangster son Ochaine Williams was jailed for 12 years for stabbing to death 21-year-old Steven Grisales in the street in Edmonton, North London, in 2011.

The 50-year-old Jamaican’s own life of crime is laid bare today after a serious case review was published into her 15-year-old son’s murder and seven years of council and GP failures before it.

Espeut, a recovering alcoholic who calls herself a ‘supermum’, subjected Williams and his siblings to ‘extraordinary levels of violence, emotional and physical abuse and criminality’, a serious case review revealed last week.

Another child in her care was left with 60-plus injuries but despite social workers considering her a key suspect who had ‘physically abused a child previously’, nothing was done.

MailOnline can also reveal the authorities knew she was a ‘serial offender’ with convictions for shoplifting and violence, but this was not ‘fully considered’ as part of her asylum application, which has allowed her to stay in Britain for 15 years.

She now lives in a respectable north London suburb and is the director of a busy hair and nail salon - but her neighbours claim her behaviour is making their lives intolerable because of her ‘day and night’ partying.

One neighbour, who would not give her name for fear of reprisals, said: ‘It’s a very violent home, I see it all the time. They are very rowdy, very aggressive people. They play music from six in the morning until six the next day at such high volumes.

‘It’s been awful. They moved in a few years before her son did what he did. I’m really scared of those people.

‘They are the worst of the worst of the worst. I’m waiting every day for them to move. Every single day I pray’.

Espeut’s Facebook account reveals how she lives a party lifestyle and has been able to ‘tour Europe’ by car, visiting places including Amsterdam since her son was jailed.

In one video filmed as she drives through France in a new 4x4 vehicle she says: ‘Oh my god. I feel like a superstar. I’ve toured Europe and I’m now at France. I’m so proud of myself. I’m a supermum’.

Espeut came to Britain in 2000 with her children and claimed asylum because of her sexuality but this was initially rejected because the Home Office refused to believe she was genuinely a lesbian.

Officials also questioned why she had waited until she was 39 to come to the UK if her life had been in danger.

But after years of taxpayer-funded legal battles Espeut successfully managed to claim asylum because she argued a return to Jamaica would put her life in danger.

Miss Espeut first lived in Sheffield with her children, who were aged 21, 11, seven and four at the time, but officials questioned why a homosexual woman kept getting pregnant by different men.

The mother-of-four, who was 39 at the time, claimed that she entered relationships with men to hide her sexuality after she and her female lover were targeted by homophobic thugs.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
