Park Your AR15

Put A Little Lever Under The Bed

A neat little video over at Theo’s today from Wild Bill, suggesting that you might be better off putting the AR back in the gun safe, and keeping a “friendly looking” gun around for home defense. I couldn’t agree more, since I’ve been saying this for years. Blue steel, wood stocks. Not milsurp. No doo-dads, night scopes, Picatinny Rails, tactical lights, or bayonets. Because when you do have to use it, you don’t want to somehow put a flea up the arse of the local super-liberal DA when she sees your house gun. And nothing chambered in “magnum” anything.

Wild Bill suggests a lever action rifle. Grandpa’s old .30-30. Some old Marlin Model 36, or a Winchester Model 94. A plain old, all American lever action rifle, reminiscent of John Wayne, Wyatt Earp, and all those great old cowboys, singing or otherwise. And I think that’s a good idea. A great idea. But I’d take it another step further.

You don’t want a .30-30. My goodness, a “high powered rifle” used for shooting bears and deer! No, that’s a bit much. Worse, it only gives you about 5+1 shots. Better off using a pistol cartridge. I’d go with the good old .45 Colt. A big soft low speed bullet, it makes a mighty big hole in things. And while your standard lever rifle has a 24” long barrel, shorter versions exist. You can even find a “trapper” style cowboy carbine with a stubby little 16” barrel. While that one would be the most maneuverable, it’s starting to look “SBR”, like a cut-down weapon made just for shooting people. I’d say stick with a 20” barrel. That’s still pretty short, but it’s long enough to give you a 10+1 shot capacity with pistol size cartridges. And it looks “normal” as normal can be.

And to be smartest, be prepared to lose your rifle if you use your rifle. So don’t spend the big bucks. Buy the cheap gun brand. Get a Rossi Model 92, brand new for under $500. It’s a cheap reliable rifle, these days made by Taurus. Not a target rifle, but good enough for home defense. Plus, you hold a rifle with 2 hands, so at close range you usually hit what you point at even if you just aim a little bit. And with a metal capped walnut stock, it makes a decent club if necessary. You can’t say that for your black plastic bullet hose evil killing machine AR.

image

This is where you want to be friends with a reloader, or be one yourself. The venerable (circa 1873) .45 “Long” Colt is so mildly loaded that it hardly goes bang. Sure, you will get a little extra velocity by firing it in a locked breech rifle with a decent length barrel, but you’ll still only get about 900fps. Which is maybe enough. Maybe. But it’s so easy to ramp them up a little on the ammo press, making your own “+P” or even “+P+” or “+2P” rounds. And that ammo looks just like factory ammo. Great big flat point, soft cast lead bullet, 200-260 grains. You don’t want any of that “evil cop killer” hollowpoint stuff, and when the bullets are the size of your thumb, you don’t need them either. Get the velocity up to 1200fps, and cast lead bullets will mushroom into quarter size slugs at across the room distances. So will those copper plated bullets (eg Berry’s or Ranier), and they won’t lead your barrel. When used in a rifle, there is plenty of room for improvement to be gained with just a couple more grains of powder and a good roll crimp. Even souped up a big step, recoil in a rifle is just about nothing.

If you are the kind of person who isn’t going to work up custom ammo, these little lever guns are almost always available in .44 Magnum as well. Sure, it’s a smaller bullet (0.429” vs 0.454"), but it goes faster right from the factory box. But it does say “Magnum” on the rim, and it has that whole Dirty Harry thing attached to it. Tell your lawyer to say “deer rifle”, and know that it’s still a better indoors choice than a .30-30, even in a family friendly looking weapon like a good old lever gun.

australia a better place tonight due to the deletion of one muslim terrorist.

Under a headline from down under that read;

Shooting of teen terror suspect raises tensions, my immediate thought was, oh great. Here we go again.

So I read the article and come to find out the turd stabbed two cops, one of them critically.  He also had two knives and was clearly looking to do harm. Or more likely, murder.  But one of the cops got a shot off and made Australia a better place by minus one.
So why the tension?

Islamic leaders criticise police investigation

Leaders of Melbourne’s Islamic community have criticised police over their investigation into the fatal shooting.

Gaith Krayem from the Islamic Council of Victoria said police were quick to jump to conclusions.

“I was disappointed with the immediate press conference police held last night. It was held three hours after the event, and they drew conclusions immediately,” Mr Krayem said.

And they really haven’t a clue why we hate them.

Here’s the story that went along with that photo.

Australian Police Shot And Killed A ‘Known Terror Suspect’

Martin Parry, AFP

Police in Melbourne have shot dead a “known terror suspect” who stabbed two officers, a day after the Islamic State group called for Muslims to indiscriminately kill Australians, officials said Wednesday.

The 18-year-old, whose passport was canceled a week ago on security grounds, was killed on Tuesday evening, having arrived at a police station on the outskirts of Melbourne to attend a “routine” interview.

Named by media as Abdul Numan Haider, he was met by two members of the Joint Counter Terrorism Team and greeted them with a handshake before pulling out a knife and attacking both men, with one stabbed in the head, neck, and stomach.

One officer fired a single shot that killed him, police said, adding that the teenager was carrying two knives.

“I can advise that the person in question was a known terror suspect who was a person of interest to law enforcement and intelligence agencies,” Justice Minister Michael Keenan said on Wednesday, adding that the attack was unprovoked.

Both police officers were in a stable condition after undergoing surgery.

The attack came after IS militants released a statement Monday urging the indiscriminate killing of citizens of countries taking part in the US-led coalition against the group, which has seized swaths of Iraq and Syria and declared an Islamic “caliphate.”

Australia was singled out, along with the United States, Canada, and France.

“Obviously, this indicates that there are people in our community who are capable of very extreme acts,” Prime Minister Tony Abbott said in a statement.

“It also indicates that the police will be constantly vigilant to protect us against people who would do us harm.”

Canberra this month raised its terror threat level and last week carried out large-scale raids in Sydney and Brisbane to disrupt an alleged plot by IS supporters to abduct and behead a member of the public.

The government believes up to 60 Australians are fighting alongside IS jihadists, while 20 have returned home and at least another 100 are actively working to support the movement at home.

manning in the news. still. why is the bastard still alive?

OK so, if this bit of filth, this screaming faggot get his op., I guess Americans gets to pay for it.
Why?

The bastard betrayed the country while wearing it’s uniform.

And notice the media. Most press reports I’ve seen insist on referring to the creep as a ‘she’.

How in world can IT be a she, if no operation has taken place?  It’s still a he. But no. The media is using the name he gave himself. Chelsea.
Why so damn accommodating?

Notice too the appearance of the aclu here. Why isn’t anyone out there shooting any of these rat bastards?  Have you ever noticed, with all the weapons out there and for so darn long, not one member of the aclu has ever been deleted. Not one!  That bothers me even more than Manning’s lawsuit.

The lawsuit claims he will self harm by self-castration. No he won’t.  He wouldn’t have the nerve it would take. And if by some chance he actually did, so what?
Let him bleed out. Cheaper then feeding him for the next 3 decades and seeing to his medical needs.

From Y-News (Yahoo)

Manning sues Defense Dept. for gender treatment

Chelsea Bradley Manning asked a federal court Tuesday to order the Defense Department to provide hormone therapy and other treatment for her gender identity condition while she serves her 35-year sentence in military confinement.

A spokeswoman at the Pentagon, Army Lt. Col. Alayne Conway, said she could not comment on pending litigation, per military policy.

The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, says the Army private formerly known as Bradley Manning is at a high risk of self-castration and suicide unless she receives more focused treatment for gender dysphoria at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

“Such clear disregard of well-established medical protocols constitutes cruel and unusual punishment,” ACLU attorney Chase Strangio said in a statement.

The Army is providing some treatment but not enough, according to the lawsuit. She is getting psychotherapy from a mental health specialist who lacks the qualifications to treat gender dysphoria, according to the document.

And although Manning has been issued female underwear and sports bras, “she is denied permission to outwardly express her female gender through female hair length and other grooming standards,” the lawsuit says.

Holder To Resign??!!!

BREAKING NEWS: Attorney General Eric Holder To Announce Resignation Today

Please, Please, let it be “effective immediately”

followed by his arrest

U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder will announce his resignation later on Thursday, a Justice Department official said.

The official, speaking on background, said Holder will announce his plans to leave his post in the Obama administration at an event at the White House. Holder “has no immediate plans once he steps down,” the official said.

The news was first reported by National Public Radio.

Attorney General Eric Holder will announce Thursday that he will resign after six years at the Justice Department helm. The attorney general has agreed to remain in his post until the confirmation of his successor, a Justice Department official has confirmed to CNN.

At a formal announcement later Thursday, Holder plans to express his personal gratitude to President Barack Obama for the opportunity to serve in his administration and to lead the Justice Department, which he will call the “greatest honor of my professional life.”

Holder has discussed his plans personally with the President on multiple occasions in recent months, and finalized those plans in an hour-long conversation with the President at the White House residence over Labor Day weekend, the official said.

Holder will note in his remarks that he has loved the Justice Department since, when he was a boy, he watched how—under Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy—the Justice Department played a leadership role in advancing the civil rights movement. During his tenure as attorney general, Holder has had Kennedy’s portrait in his conference room.

The attorney general is one of only three members from Obama’s original Cabinet still serving in the post.

Holder was sworn in as the 82nd attorney general in February 2009 after serving as President Bill Clinton’s deputy attorney general, the first African-American to serve in that position.

The news first broke on NPR at 11am.

UPDATE: Under the bus?

The contempt of Congress case against Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. — the first sitting Cabinet member ever to face such a congressional rebuke — will continue even after his resignation takes effect, but it’s unlikely he will ever face personal punishment, legal analysts said Thursday.

Mr. Holder, is expected to announce his resignation later Thursday, and Tom Fitton, president of Judicial Watch, said the timing is not accidental: A federal judge earlier this week ruled that the Justice Department will have to begin submitting documents next month related to the botched Fast and Furious gun operation in a case brought by Judicial Watch.

“I don’t think it’s any coincidence he’s resigning as the courts are ruling the Fast and Furious information has to be released,” Mr. Fitton told The Washington Times.

Mr. Holder has served since the beginning of the Obama administration, and has been at the center of many of the controversies of President Obama’s tenure, including the investigation into the IRS’s targeting of tea party groups, the push for stricter gun controls, decisions on enforcing drug laws, thorny race-laced cases ranging from local crimes to voter-identification laws, and defending Mr. Obama’s recess appointments, which were ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court earlier this year.

This too ...

Eric Holder was a radical progressive who used the power of the federal government to impose his progressivism on the United States. He loved big interventionist government that took sides based on your politics and your race.  He was a menace to the rule of law.

So he exits.  But instead of being shamed into obscurity as he ought to be, he will cash in.  He’ll abandon the tools of dividing Americans between black and white and worry about a new color: gold.  When Holder lands at a big and shameless lawfirm in Washington, D.C., it will say as much about the country in 2014 as Holder’s rancid tenure said about the modern Democratic Party.

They Just Won’t Quit

DC Council Passes “May-Issue” CCW

After being spanked by the federal courts, the uppity twerks running our nation’s capital passed a firearms carry law that is likely to fail in court. Council members are still miffed that they have to obey the courts, and have to recognize any rights of the sheeple at all.

On the heels of ,a href="http://freebeacon.com/politics/dc-city-council-members-decry-having-to-follow-constitution/">being forced to adopt a gun carry law, DC City Council members decried the idea of anybody in the city owning a gun.

“We’d like to have much stricter–no carry rules at all,” Councilman David Grosso said. “and, preferably, no guns at all.”

“But the courts are ruling against us on this on a regular basis, and if they’re not, then Congress is coming down on us.”

They then debated whether or not they should expose the identity of gun owners to the public. “We should at least give our neighbors and residents a chance to know who has the gun, put it up there, let people be proud of it if they want to carry a concealed weapon,” Grosso said with a chuckle. “But at least we’ll all know who it is and we can treat them differently because they have a deadly threat in their possession.”

Councilman Phil Mendelson was more cautious, saying that “it runs the risk that we’re providing a means for somebody to find out who has a gun that then can burglarize or rob.”

“Who cares about the confidentiality of a gun owner?” Councilwoman Yvette Alexander said. “We don’t want it.”

Douche-apalooza, from the nearly unhinged leftists running the council. Video at the link.

DC’s new May-Issue carry law

n response to a federal court ruling that declared the city’s gun carry ban unconstitutional, the Washington, D.C., council voted to implement a restrictive may-issue carry law Tuesday. The new law is among the strictest in the country and may face new legal challenges, according to the Washington Post.

Tuesday’s vote was another example of the city’s liberal politics clashing with the federal judiciary’s increasingly conservative interpretations of the Second Amendment. In 2008, a Supreme Court ruling struck down the city’s three-decade-old handgun ban and set the stage for the end of the public-carry prohibition.

Council Chairman Phil Mendelson (D) said the District’s new carry law is among the strictest in the nation, joining the likes of Maryland, New Jersey, and New York in establishing a highly restrictive regime that requires applicants to state good reason to want to carry a weapon. But he said a flat ban was no longer constitutionally feasible.

Alan Gura, the attorney for D.C. residents and workers who challenged the ban, said Monday that what becomes of the city’s gun laws will, indeed, continue to be an issue in the federal courts. Gura said the bill that passed Tuesday “plainly fails to comply with the court’s ruling” striking down the carry ban.

“The court instructed the city to treat the carrying of handguns as a right rooted in the constitutional interest in self-defense,” he said. “It’s not much progress to move from a system where licenses are not available to a system where licenses are only available if the city feels like issuing them. It’s something of a joke.”

Gura said he is prepared to take the matter before U.S. District Judge Frederick J. Scullin Jr., who struck down the carry ban in July and has scheduled an Oct. 17 hearing on the city’s request that he reconsider his decision.

“They have to explain why this is different than what currently exists,” Gura said. “I don’t believe they can do that.”

The bill would allow city residents who own properly registered handguns, as well as nonresidents with a state carry license, to apply for a permit to bear a concealed weapon in the District.

But applicants would need to show “good reason to fear injury to his or her person or property” or “any other proper reason for carrying a pistol,” and they would have to pass rigorous background checks and training requirements. The final decision on whether to issue a license would be the police chief’s, with appeals handled by a five-member review board.

A bit of street cleaning in London

image

Radical preacher Anjem Choudary was one of nine men arrested today as part of an investigation into Islamist terrorism.

Choudary, 47, and eight other men aged 22, 31, 31, 32, 36, 38, 39 and 51 were arrested by Metropolitan Police officers in London this morning, and have all been taken to police stations - where they remain in custody.

His arrest came on the morning he posted a series of tweets at about 5am with an anti-Western tone, referring to the ongoing crisis involving ISIS militants in Iraq and Syria.

Muslim activist Abu Izzadeen - born Trevor Brooks - is also among the men arrested.

Some 19 residential, business or community premises were being searched today as part of the investigation, Scotland Yard said.

A police spokesman said: ‘These arrests and searches are part of an ongoing investigation into Islamist-related terrorism and are not in response to any immediate public safety risk.’

Officers confirmed that the nine men were arrested on suspicion of being a member of a proscribed organisation, supporting a proscribed organisation and encouraging terrorism.
...
Choudary co-founded the now banned group al-Muhajiroun. Fanatics Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, who were both jailed earlier this year for the brutal slaying of Fusilier Lee Rigby, were both seen at demonstrations organised by al-Muhajiroun.

Choudary said he knew Adebolajo, who was pictured beside him at a rally in 2007, and the second founder of the group, Omar Bakri Mohammed, claimed that he had spoken to the future killer at meetings.

The group, which has changed names a number of times, was banned in the UK in 2010. A study suggested that in the preceding 12 years, 18 per cent of Islamic extremists convicted of terror offences in the UK had current or former links with it.
...
Anti-extremism campaigners Hope Not Hate welcomed the arrests. Chief executive Nick Lowles said: ‘For over a year, since our own extensive investigations into Anjem Choudary and his disciples, we’ve been saying that more must be done to curb this hate-supporting and recruiting organisation.’

In an interesting aside, anti-extremist campaigners Britain First is claiming partial credit in these arrests, saying that it was there investigation and protests that brought public attention to this bunch, forcing an otherwise lazy government to finally act. Britain First is not mentioned in the above news article.

[email from Britain First] This morning, SO15 Counter Terrorism Command swooped on hate preacher Anjem Choudary and his minions.

This is a significant development in our fightback campaign.

It seems that the recent swoops on Britain First were intended to garner intelligence to support these raids, perhaps.

It seems that our recent fightback activities have “stepped on the toes” of SO15 Counter Terrorism Command as they were ready to swoop on Choudary and his network.

They were also intended to temporarily disable Britain First on the verge of these raids.

We cannot see any other cause or reason for the heavy handed actions against Britain First to have taken place.

This is a major triumph for our “Operation Fightback” campaign: our relentless exposures and face-to-face pressure has rendered the State’s policy of giving Islamic extremists a free-hand completely untenable.

When the public doesn’t see, or know, about the Islamic extremist networks, the State can safely ignore them.

Our public exposures, and confrontations, and our enormous online reach, has rendered this policy unworkable.

We have forced the situation!

Firstly Choudary’s network was banned, now they have all been rounded up.

It’s also a strong possibility that because of our fightback activities, and the result that these extremists have been banned and arrested, and taking into account that they have been arrested on terrorism charges, that our actions in forcing the hand of SO15 Counter Terrorism Command has saved lives somewhere down the road.

Naturally, the arrests work as a fundraiser for the group, because the government’s approach to acquiring Britain First’s information was to raid their offices and impound all their computers and gear!

Another reason I am writing this is because the ferocious assault of the police raids have left us utterly stunted in our ability to carry on working.

Because of the police raids, Britain First has ground to a halt.

Why? Because the police confiscated all of our office equipment.

climate change demo as the righteous gathered yesterday to demand change. yawn.

Ah … so the subject is climate change is it?

There was a photo of actor Leonardo Dicaprio leading a march in NY, and he was flanked by two silly looking older guys who are we must believe, American Indians. Makes sense really.  Mother earth, things gween, the nature loving keepers of it all, the Indian. One old guy is wearing a watch cap with a few feathers in it, I guess that makes him authentic okay.  The other guy is wearing those Indian bead like things down his front and has really long hair braids, pig tails(?) and so I guess he is authentic also. Dicaprio and the Indians (?) are holding a sign that says “Aboriginal and treaty rights” but that’s all I could see in the photo.
Oh, so maybe the guys are real Indians. No probs with that, just don’t get the connection between treaty rights and the sky falling.

But, the sky is gonna fall and these jerks are gonna save us from ourselves. That’s thoughtful ovem.

And all we need do is give up electricity and coal and nuke power and oh right. Almost forgot.  Stop eating meat.  And no more cars. Evil polluters that they are.
What the world needs are horses and donkeys. Well, besides the donkeys that walk upright and vote that is.
Comrades … utopia is ours.

Here’s a headline of interest from the left on this side of the Atlantic.

Climate change march: Investors pledge to take their money out of firms blamed for climate change

And of course, those firms will go bust right away and won’t bother looking for saner investors to fill the gap.

It’s being reported that 700 financial institutions controlling over $48bn of assets are pledging to pull their money out of investments that “exacerbate climate change.” Whatever happened to our old favorite, global warming?

Some of the reported agencies pledging to withhold monies are the British Medical Association, a charitable Trust, and the Quakers, who have joined the “dirty energy divestment campaign”.

Around 40,000 people marched in London yesterday to demand urgent action on climate change.  I guess those dweebs either had the time cos none of em have jobs to go to, or else it was a day away from the spouse.  Whatever.

A good time was had by all, and the working class was on hand to clean up the mess after the wankers had all left.

The divestment movement has 500 wealthy individuals and 168 institutions, mostly from the US, but also from Europe, Australia, Africa and the UK. The UK’s contribution comprises seven institutions with a combined investment portfolio of just £250m.  ($407m)

“It is disappointing that only seven of the 168 institutions who have pledged to invest in greener energy rather than fossil fuels are British,” said James Arbib, the founder of the UK’s Tellus Mater Foundation, a grant-making environmental trust that is one of the seven.

“UK organisations need to wake up and join the global movement away from non-renewable energy before it is too late,” he added.
The World Council of Churches – a fellowship of about 300 churches that represent 590 million people in 150 countries – is another recent addition to the dirty-energy divestment campaign.

It’s a longish kinda story and so I edited some and leave you with the link to more.

. Pretty boring stuff when it isn’t funny.
Or ... maybe not too funny cos as we already know, ‘true believers’ can cause much grief over time.  Look what happened to our light bulbs here. And now vacuum cleaners and soon other electric appliances.

Fine. Greens, Progs, and other Leftists: Commies At Heart

One from Rich K.

What you already knew, because you are not stupid. You understand “Progressive” and the history of the movement. This puts you many many levels above your typical under 40 slack jawed moron.

They’ve never gone away. They’ve been with us since the Wilson administration. FDR was a Progressive Marxist, and like Obama he was the biggest liar of his generation. Talk about “most transparent administration” - FDR had POLIO and spent most of the time in a wheelchair. Yet the complicit media hid this fact from the public not only during his first election, but from the daily news for more than a decade. His cabinet and his government were chock full of Reds. Outright spies, moles, plants, and major sympathizers.

Thanks to Dick Nixon and his pals, the word got out in the 50s, and the Reds had to run and hide, like roaches when you turn on the kitchen light. But they never left. They just went underground. Like Saul Alinsky, Hillary Clinton’s hero, mentor, and subject of her undergraduate thesis. And who can tell how many of Obama’s cabinet and close associates. Marxism is second banana stuff with that bunch, since so many of them are either tied to Muslim Brotherhood, or Black Liberation Theology, or both. Of course they’re all commies. Socialists who believe in their own small elite group being in generational control, with an all powerful central government keeping a dazed, doped, and dulled robo-citizenry in line. For their own good. If that isn’t within a hair of pure real-world communism I don’t know what is.

So. As Rich K pointed out, this past weekend there were all these “Earth First” rallies all over the country. In NYC nearly half a million benighted souls showed up to march, protest, and make a difference by bandying hashtags around. Oh, and they made a tremendous mess, leaving mountains of litter behind them.
Which is what they always do, because the truth of the matter is, all of this is “scene” shit. It’s “all about me”; look at me being cool! Look at me saving the planet! Look at me being a hipster douche greenie!. Look at me fighting Teh Man, man.

Whatever.

image

How many trendy groups can you belong to at the same time? Ah, if only they did interior design, and made cupcakes. With weed in them.

Here’s a link! Out Of The Climate Closet And Into Your Red Pants

Communists along with a few environmental groups staged a “People’s Climate Rally” in Oakland, California on Sunday, September 21, in conjunction with the larger “People’s Climate March” in New York City on the same day.

Wait — did I say communists? Isn’t that a bit of an exaggeration?

Well…no.

At the New York event, many people noticed that gee, there sure are a lot of communists at this march. But in Oakland — always on the cutting edge — the entire “climate change” movement at last fully, irrevocably and overtly embraced communism as its stated goal. Any concerns about “optics” or operating in “stealth mode” were abandoned.

The “climate change” “crisis” is now nothing but the latest justification for “total revolution” and getting rid of capitalism forever.

Well of course. Some of us figured this out ages and ages ago, at least as far back as the Kyoto Accords. The one and only way this movement will EVER be able to put it’s plans into place, it’s carbon credits, it’s cap and trade, it’s lowered emissions everywhere, etc ... AND BE ABLE TO ENFORCE THEM is to have a universal, one world government. And that’s means communism, aka elitist generational socialism. And to get there they are going to use the UN. This is what has been going on for decades. The Green Thing is just the latest.

Destroy Capitalism. Destroy Consumerism. Destroy America.  Destroy Europe. No nukes, no oil, no coal, and nobody white is allowed to build or burn anything. Funny thing, they never have any problems with the people outside the Rain Forest in South America, anyone non-white anywhere in Africa, they certainly never have problems with anyone pisslamic, and they just love their 4 billion little brown and yellow buddies on the far side of the world. No restrictions on them at all, ever. Gosh, perhaps because half of them are already commies to start with?

hopefully true, but totally accurate

In My Inbox, a classic meme

Some possess the vocabulary to sum things up in a way we can understand. This is a quote from the former Premier of the Czech Republic. Obviously, we have a lot of work to do to repair the damage they’ve done.

“The danger to America is not Barack Obama, but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America . Blaming the prince of fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools, such as those who made him their President.”

Doc sent around this iteration, attributed to former Czech Republic President Václav Klaus. Wonderful words, but the core of the quotation goes back further, to 2009 or perhaps even earlier, with the original addendum of

The sad part is he’s only been in office one year. I can’t imagine what the next three will bring.

In the long run, it does not matter much who first penned this thought. It’s one we’ve all had countless times.

The prince of fools.

The father of lies.

The baby-daddy of detached self-aggrandizing narcissism.

I could go on, but I’m running out of terms for relations, and none of it is relative at all. It’s all directly attributable.

And anyone who bothered to look saw it coming back in 2008. Remember the halo pictures? Remember the Athenian columns at the nomination? Remember the “Office of the President Elect”? Remember “In 5 days, when I begin my rule ...”? Remember how the earth would heal and the seas roll back?

What egotistical arrogance; chutzpah at a level rarely seen in human history.

Your Daily Beheading, plus local work for me

Where’s Christopher? I was hoping he’d have something today.

Sorry, I’m busy making some money. Had a window job Monday, and I’m repairing an antique table today.

Maybe I’ll get something up later.

I haven’t hardly even seen the news ... what’s this?? ISIS and their affiliates have now beheaded a French guy? Wow, it’s like they’re trying to piss off the whole world, a piece at a time? Like they want everyone to gather together and come stomp them?

Well yeah, actually they do. In case you hadn’t noticed, they are an apocalyptic cult. If Armageddon doesn’t happen, they don’t get their Mooslimb Miracle.

Wait, isn’t that the same thing that the Iranians believe in? That whole 12th Imam shizz? Or do we now have conflicting jizzlamic end of days legends, and they’ll have to fight it out again?? This is becoming a stuck record.

tired now

I spent all morning at the dentist. Got a fair amount of necessary work done. Only two more trips next month and I’ll be done, and only need cleanings for a few years.

Now that most of the Novacaine has worn off, and my mouth no longer feels like it’s the size of a watermelon, I think I need a nap.

I was a good patient, calm and cooperative. But I so hate going to the dentist. Beats me why; my doctor is top notch. It just feels like volunteering for a bit of recreational torture. “Just a few lacerations today please, and how about we only dislocate one, no, call it two, joints. Thanks awfully.” Once I’m in the chair I’m fine. It’s getting there that’s hard to do.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
