Fine, I’ll Try It.

Middle of the night. Time for a cuppa.

WTH, for once I’ll put a splash of cream in. Drink it “proper”. Check myself out on the color chart ... win prizes?

image

Yep, I’m nearly a 2. Just a bit over. About a tablespoon in a mug’s worth, spoon of sugar. Not bad. Loses the edge a bit. I’ve only ever had tea in the clear before. Black? What does one call it, tea with no cow added?

Alright, a bit of toasted cheese to eat, some more of that matzoh - yes, I’ve still got lots!! - another cuppa and then back to bed.

Here’s a nice bit of simple tune if you know your history ...

The western counties point to the sea
I stand unsteady on the shore
The ebbing tide drags my steps from under me
Now it will carry me once more

To trace a circle round the oceans of the earth
I’ll place a band of Spanish gold
On this cold finger of the land of my birth
They would steal to have and hold

Out of the night I’ll send them fear and flame
In oaken ships of fiery death
Their straying children they’ll gather at my name
And learn to fear a dragon’s breath

From these red cliffs I will dive into the sun
And into history
Until from Plymouth Hoe the beating of my drum
From leaden slumber will summon me

In times of trial will recall my restless bones
And read once more upon the page
How a poor Westcountry man once stood before a throne
And how his plunder bore a golden age.

Come on, how often do you hear songs like that? Never. Or even less.  Oh fluff ... the video gives it all away. Mostly.

Back to bed.

Ann Coulter on Soccer

AMERICA’S FAVORITE NATIONAL PASTIME: HATING SOCCER

(7) It’s foreign. In fact, that’s the precise reason the Times is constantly hectoring Americans to love soccer. One group of sports fans with whom soccer is not “catching on” at all, is African-Americans. They remain distinctly unimpressed by the fact that the French like it.

Update: Thanks Vilmar!

Stockman bill allows taxpayers to use same lame excuses as IRS

Stockman bill allows taxpayers to use same lame excuses as IRS

Among those excuses:

1.  The dog ate my tax receipts
2.  Convenient, unexplained, miscellaneous computer malfunction
3.  Traded documents for five terrorists
4.  Burned for warmth while lost in the Yukon
5.  Left on table in Hillary’s Book Room
6.  Received water damage in the trunk of Ted Kennedy’s car
7.  Forgot in gun case sold to Mexican drug lords
8.  Forced to recycle by municipal Green Czar
9.  Was short on toilet paper while camping
10.  At this point, what difference does it make?

May I point out that I use those excuses anyway.

when you don’t care enough to save your past … some foreigners with cash will

Perhaps if countries (ours included) said screw em and cut off foreign aid of any kind, they might have enough money to protect their national heritage.
Oh what am I saying?  Hell, politicians would only find some pet projects that needed the cash, mistresses, trips abroad, alimony (?) and heaven only know what else.

Not just cos it’s Arab, I’d think it a shame anytime a national monument had to be supported by a foreigner. Any foreigner.
The French allowed the place to wither and die for a hundred years, so maybe they weren’t all that bothered watching an old theater fall to pieces.
Hey, it’s an ancient country and there’s only so much that can be saved.  But still ....

Sultan bin Tahnoun, French Culture Minister open Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Theatre in Paris

PARIS: The Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau in Paris was opened last night in a glittering ceremony by Sheikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Tourism and Culture (TCA Abu Dhabi), and Aurelie Filippetti, French Culture Minister, after seven years of restoration. The famous Imperial Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau was re-named by France after the UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan,.

This all took place in May, I was aware of it but haven’t been posting a lot of late and so skipped it. Til now.
A bit of BS here as you will read.  If the site was so much a part of France and its history, if it was a symbol of France and a period of her history, then why oh why was it ignored for so long?

French Political, cultural figures thank Khalifa for saving ‘The Imperial Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau’

They indicated that the French people and visitors of Fontainebleau have visited this historic landmark, which is now renamed ‘the Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Theatre.’ In her interview with Emirates News Agency (WAM), French Minister of Culture and Communication Aurelie Filippetti said,

“The French government and people extend their thanks and appreciation to President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generous sponsorship of the Palace of Fontainebleau ‘The Imperial Theatre at Chateau de Fontainebleau’ through restoring the theatre to life after a 150-year of negligence.” She added, ‘We were able to modernise and renovate the theatre in a full shape, thanks to Sheikh Khalifa, adding that “this is a great pride for us as you know, France has outstanding cultural ties with the UAE, which have been translated into the renovation of imperial Palace that represents a symbol of an important era in the history of France.

Meanwhile, a number of French officials said, “We fully recognised that the UAE friendly people share with us our vision regarding the protection of heritage and boosting cultures in order to promote mutual understanding, peace and dialogue, since the cultural heritage has capabilities to build dialogue among cultures and civilisations.’ – Emirates News Agency

I ain’t gonna watch

Despite the 24-7 “world cup” soccer motif at Google, despite the internet being overrun with “soccer babes” wearing national colors and little else, despite my XFINITY cable TV going on at me about the games non-stop ... I’m not going to watch a single game. Not even in recap.

You see, 86 gazillion people are watching this shiz. In Denmark, in Norway, in Ireland, in France, in Germany, in Turkey, in Belize, and so forth. In the UK too, guaranteed. In India, no doubt.

I pay - and quite a lot, thank you - for top of the line High Definition cable television.

And I live in the United States of America.

So why the fudge is XFINITY forcing me to watch live game coverage in Spanish?

Do I fucking look like god damn Juan Fucking Valdez to you? Or his donkey?

I am sure that there is a live feed in English. Period.

Don’t give me that habla bullshit.

ISIS Slaughter In 4 Iraqi Villages

Another Savage Massacre

Shiite Turkmen villagers in northern Iraq have claimed that an Al Qaeda-inspired Sunni militant group carried out a “savage massacre” in four villages near the city of Kirkuk.

The Washington Post reported that more than a dozen residents of the villages of Brawchi, Karanaz, Chardaghli and Beshir described atrocities that took place last week. Kirkuk’s deputy police chief, General Turhan Abdel-Rahman, said that he knew of at least 40 dead from the four villages, but noted that there were other bodies inside the village of Beshir.

“Tell the world. It was a savage massacre,” one man present at the burial of 15 bodies in the village of Tafaz told the Post.

Many survivors of the attacks have fled to Kirkuk, where Iraqi Kurdish security forces are in control.

The United Nations said Tuesday that more than 1,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed so far in June violence in Iraq, according to Reuters.

Terrible. If only those poor villagers were armed and able to defend themselves. Oh wait, they are armed. Every person in that sandbox seems to own at least one AK-47 and an RPG launcher. I guess they just don’t have the stomach to fight for their own freedom or even their own survival.

OK, and it’s not that I don’t believe them about this atrocity, I do, but ... oh come on already, the deputy police chief is a friggin’ General??? Just give it up already. So what rank does the chief have, God Emperor Haile Sellasie? Mohamhead Jr.? Maybe you dune dogs should ratchet the tinpot dictator shit down a few notches, eh?

And al-Reuters is a tad slow ... I’ve got pictures of thousands of prisoners being marched away ... and ISIS’ own pictures of them being executed. And any number of those bodies are shown wearing army boots, or army uniforms over or under civilian clothes. So 1,000 civilian casualties might be slightly accurate, as long as you add several thousand more “military” ones. And ISIS seems to be considering any male over 13 to be a member of the military, uniform or not. Hey, how come the USA doesn’t get to play by those (most likely accurate) rules??

Still Stupid After All These Years

John Effin’ Kerry, reporting for doody. Dumber than half a box of rocks, as always.

Kerry: We had no warning Iraq was about to explode.
Spy Boss: We’ve been telling you about it for months now.

The U.S. intelligence community provided “multiple strategic warnings” since the beginning of the year about the strength of Sunni militants in Iraq, a senior intelligence official said Tuesday—a claim that challenges assertions by top administration officials that they were caught off guard by the capture of key Iraqi cities.

Earlier Tuesday, in an interview with Fox News, Secretary of State John Kerry said “nobody expected” Iraqi security forces to be decisively driven out by the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, as they were earlier this month in Mosul.

But in a separate briefing with reporters Tuesday afternoon, the senior intelligence official said multiple warnings were provided. Asked who failed to act, the official did not explain.

Offering a grave warning about the current strength of the group—which is a State Department-designated terror organization—the official also said that barring a major counteroffensive, the intelligence community assesses that ISIS is “well-positioned to keep the territory it has gained.” The official said the ISIS “strike force” now has between 3,000 and 5,000 members.

Further, the official said ISIS, as a former Al Qaeda affiliate, has the “aspiration and intent” to target U.S. interests. Asked if Americans have joined, the intelligence official said it “stands to reason that Americans have joined.”

The information from the intelligence community adds to the picture of what is known about the ISIS threat, and what might have been known in the weeks and months before its militants seized Mosul and other northern cities and towns.

Looks like another one of Lurch’s lies has left him ... in the lurch!

Africa: Another Non-Surprise

West African Ebola Epidemic Out Of Control

No matter how much aid the West supplies, it will never be enough. Africa Wins Again.

The deadly Ebola virus outbreak in West Africa has hit “unprecedented” proportions, according to relief workers on the ground.

“The epidemic is out of control,” Dr. Bart Janssens, director of operations for Doctors Without Borders, said in a statement.

There have been 567 cases and 350 deaths since the epidemic began in March, according to the latest World Health Organization figures.

In April, CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta traveled to Conakry, Guinea, to report on what was being done to treat patients and contain the outbreak.

“It took only moments to feel the impact of what was happening here,” Gupta wrote after landing in Conakry. “There is a lot we know about Ebola, and it scares us almost as much as what we don’t know.”

Ebola outbreaks usually are confined to remote areas, making it easier to contain. But this outbreak is different; patients have been identified in 60 locations in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.

Officials believe the wide footprint of this outbreak is partly because of the close proximity between the jungle where the virus was first identified and cities such as Conakry. The capital in Guinea has a population of 2 million and an international airport.

People are traveling without realizing they’re carrying the deadly virus. It can take between two and 21 days after exposure for someone to feel sick.

Ebola is a violent killer. The symptoms, at first, mimic the flu: headache, fever, fatigue. What comes next sounds like something out of a horror movie: significant diarrhea and vomiting, while the virus shuts off the blood’s ability to clot.

As a result, patients often suffer internal and external hemorrhaging. Many die in an average of 10 days.

Doctors Without Borders, also known as Médecins Sans Frontières, is the only aid organization treating people affected by the virus. Since March, they have sent more than 300 staff members and 40 tons of equipment and supplies to the region to help fight the epidemic.

Still, they warn, it’s not enough.

62% mortality rate. Essentially 2 out of 3. And that’s WITH as much medical care as the West can supply.

Remind me to reschedule my trip to Africa to the 12th of Never.

Lie Down With Dogs

Yeah, I should’ve put this one up Friday. But hey, I’ve been busy, out playing in the dirt.

Obama Megadonor Indicted: Insurance Fraud and Manslaughter

Obama megadonor Kareem Ahmed was indicted Tuesday by a California grand jury in an alleged multimillion-dollar insurance kickback scheme ...

Ahmed was a major Obama donor during the 2012 election. He gave $1 million to Priorities USA Action in 2012. He also donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to other Democratic candidates.

Additionally, Ahmed called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) his “best friend,” according to TPM.

Fifteen of his associates were also were also indicted.

Ahmed, the president and CEO of a company called Landmark Medical Management, is accused of masterminding the scheme and faces charges including conspiracy, insurance fraud, and, most dramatically, involuntary manslaughter, according to one of two sealed indictments issued by an Orange County grand jury both dated June 17 and obtained this week by TPM.

The first of the two indictments accused Ahmed of developing topical cream formulas “based on the profitability of the ingredients,” and then giving doctors who treated workers’ compensation patients illegal financial incentives to prescribe the creams. The scheme, which ran from 2009-2013, also involved filing false claims with multiple insurance companies, the nine-count indictment alleges.

Slugs, thugs, shysters, con men, killers. The money men behind the DNC. It never changes; this sounds exactly like the stuff we used to see about the Clintons all the time.
