Fort Hood Shooting? AGAIN???

10:30 UPDATE: PTSD??  “soldier on soldier” violence??  “No terrorism here” message, of course.

A shooting at Ft. Hood that left at least four dead—including the shooter—and 14 injured Wednesday was a “soldier on soldier” incident without any apparent terrorism link, a senior Department of Homeland Security source told

A senior law enforcement official tells Fox News that at least four people, including the gunman, died in the shooting and 14 were injured.

The Homeland Security source, who stressed the information was preliminary, added that there was “currently no [counter terrorism] nexus” and said it appears the shooter killed himself.

Senior U.S. officials confirmed the shooter’s identity as Spc. Ivan Lopez, who was based at Ft. Hood, which was also the scene of a deadly shooting in 2009 that left 13 dead.

Rep. John Carter, R-Texas, told Fox News’ Megyn Kelly on “The Kelly File” the “knowledge I have is he was a truck driver.”

Carter also said the shooter was reported to be in full uniform and “it was reported to me most of, if not all, the victims were in uniform.”

He also said he had been told the shooter died of self-inflicted wounds.

UPDATE: 14 wounded, Shooter Offed Himself. 1 Dead , or is it 8??

Associated Press: 14 injured in Fort Hood shooting, gunman dead of ‘self-inflicted wound’

Fort Hood officials confirm there has been a shooting at Army post, and that there have been injuries.

The Associated Press is reporting that according to a senior defense official, one person has been killed, and 14 were injured in the shooting. The AP is also reporting that according to a Justice Department internal report, the “Fort Hood gunman [is] dead of self-inflicted wound.”

From Fort Hood’s press office: “Fort Hood’s Directorate of Emergency Services has an initial report that a shooter is dead but this is unconfirmed.”

The shooting took place at a medical support building just after 4:30 p.m. There are conflicting reports concerning the number of suspects.

Fort Hood tweeted at 5:01 that “all personnel on post are asked to shelter in place.” This is what that sounded like, per a video posted to Instagram.

Another update is due from Fort Hood’s press office around 6:30 p.m.

Scanner chatter does indicate authorities believe that at least one shooter is a white male, around 180 to 200 pounds, believed to have been armed with a .45-caliber pistol.

Scott & White Hospital in Temple says it “has activated its internal incident management system and is receiving patients. Hospital staff is preparing to receive and treat victims of this emergency,” the hospital said in a brief statement.

Things are still very much up in the air; earlier reports said there may have been two shooters, other reports said as many as 8 dead. Information is coming out in dribs and drabs; expect the “official story” to change dramatically over the next 3 days (starting with the FBI telling us how this is not an act of terrorism. Again. As they always do. Liars. But they haven’t rolled that one out yet for this story)

FOX NEWS: SHOOTER (the only one) WAS IN UNIFORM; 8 wounded 4 dead, 1 shooter

The shooting is believed to have taken place at the Medical Brigade Building. Local NBC affiliate KCEN-TV reported there were also reports of victims at the Battle Simulation Center.

Officials with the Bell County Sheriff’s Office and Texas Department of Public Safety are helping to secure the perimeter of the largest active duty armored post in the United States Armed Services.

Central Texas College’s campus was evacuated due to the shooting, with all personnel and students asked to leave and all classes canceled.

Gosh Sheep Are Stupid

Sure, regular sheep, the kind you’d find on a farm, all covered with wool and a bit mucky below the tail area. Not particularly energetic or smart.

But those other kind of sheep ... the sheeple ... the vast, seemingly semi-conscious mass of humanity, sleepwalking through life, letting government pull them around by the ... tail ... because they can’t be bothered to think for themselves.

THOSE sheep must be god awful stupid.

So I’ve got the 6 o’clock news on, and here’s the Talking Heads showing Fearless Reader going on and on, his great self fresh from playing What If war games with other heads of state today, restating his heavy concern about nukes being smuggled into, and detonated in, Manhattan. So let’s make sure the NYPD gets another hundred gazillion dollars for unionized overtime, let’s give them tanks, jet planes, flamethrowers, torture chambers. Let’s put a million CCTV spy cam system in place every 10 feet on both sides of every street, let’s have power drop fences in place so we can lock down entire neighborhoods a quarter block at a time at a moment’s notice, no warrant or high level elected official approval needed. Ok, he didn’t really say any of that, other than his fear of suitcase nukes in NY, and let’s make sure that NYPD gets another few shiploads of cash. The rest is me, figuring out what else they’d do with that much more cash, seeing as they’ve already had BILLIONS since 9/11. As far as I know.

TWO SECONDS LATER those same talking heads are telling us the story, tut-tut-tut, of how these 4 alleged yutes ("what’s a yoot?") had to face the judge today FOR SNEAKING INTO THE FREEDOM TOWER, walking RIGHT PAST THE SLEEPING GUARD (an SEIU employee of course. And a minority. Who happens to be blind I’ve heard!!) and “base jumping” off the top of the new tower with parachutes, recording their exploits, and posting it to YouTube.

(CNN)—Four New York-area men were arrested Monday after a BASE jumping stunt from atop One World Trade Center in September, police said.

The charges against James Brady, Kyle Hartwell, Marko Markovich and Andrew Rossig included burglary, reckless endangerment and jumping from a structure, according to a statement issued by NYPD Commissioner William Bratton.

“These men violated the law and placed themselves, as well as others, in danger,” Bratton said. “These arrests should send a message to anyone thinking about misusing a landmark this way.”

Three of the men are accused of climbing the nation’s tallest building on September 30 and parachuting more than 1,300 feet off the skyscraper, said attorney Timothy Parlatore, who is representing Rossig. Hartwell is accused of keeping lookout at the base of the tower during the stunt, Parlatore said.

Video footage of the early morning jump shows the men deploying their parachutes and flying down to a secluded spot on a nearby highway, according to Parlatore, who said he’s seen the video.

After all the mountains of cash spent on various government agencies in New York City, the whole security apparatus of the most iconic building in the entire nation appears to be a plastic tarp over a hole in the construction fence, and a sleeping guard on the 85th floor. Excuse me, Mayor DeBlasio, can we have our massive fortunes back now? Obviously you and your nanny state predecessors haven’t managed to do a single worthwhile thing with it. Not one.

Horry Clap.

And the talking heads on TV News went from Story 1 to Story 2 and then on to something else without a blink of the eye. No connection. Not even an eye roll. NADA. No awareness whatsoever.

Like I said, sheep. Baaaa. Baaaa.

No Ozymandius Be He

Two “New” 3400 Year Old Statues

Of Amenhotep III

Rise Again Over Luxor

Amenhotep III, with his Great Wife Tiye

In the black land of Kemet, this very Egypt ...

Archaeologists have unveiled two colossal statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III in Egypt’s famed temple city of Luxor, adding to an existing pair of world-renowned tourist attractions.

The two monoliths in red quartzite were raised at what European and Egyptian archaeologists said were their original sites in the funerary temple of the king, on the west bank of the Nile.

The temple is already famous for its existing 3400-year-old Memnon colossi — twin statues of Amenhotep III whose reign archaeologists say marked the political and cultural zenith of ancient Egyptian civilisation.

“The world until now knew two Memnon colossi, but from today it will know four colossi of Amenhotep III,” said German-Armenian archaeologist Hourig Sourouzian, who heads the project to conserve the Amenhotep III temple.

The existing two statues, both showing the pharaoh seated, are known across the globe.

The two restored additions have weathered severe damage for centuries, Ms Sourouzian said.

“The statues had lain in pieces for centuries in the fields, damaged by destructive forces of nature like earthquake, and later by irrigation water, salt, encroachment and vandalism,” she said, as behind her excavators and local villagers washed pieces of artefacts and statues unearthed over the past months.

“This beautiful temple still has enough for us to study and conserve.”

One of the “new” statues — its body weighing 250 tonnes — again depicts the pharaoh seated, hands resting on his knees.
It is 11.5 metres tall, with a base 1.5 metres high and 3.6 metres wide.

Amenhotep III was a bit like Bill Clinton, in that he rode the wave of economic success started by the previous, more warlike pharaohs Tutmoses I...n in the early part of the 18th Dynasty. When this guy was king, Egypt stretched from Turkey to Libya, the irrigated part of chunk of Iran and Iraq down to the Persian Gulf, and South up the Nile all the way to Ethiopia and beyond. map. About the only radical thing he did was to change his personal religion from Amun/Amen to Aten, and that mainly as a political move because the priests in his first faith were getting too uppity, too powerful, and too rich. Of course, everything has unintended consequences, and when his son Amenhotep IV (The Abomination known also as Ahkenaten) took over, the boy turned 3000 years of Egyptian worship on its head, and declared that Aten, his sun god, was the one and only. He also moved the capitol and went totally punk with the official art style. The nation blew up, Ahkenaten went bye-bye, and son/grandson/nephew Tutankhaten got the big gold chair. And he quickly changed his name to Tutankhamun, which means he caved to the priest class, but that move put the other gods back in happy rotation, and the country stopped freaking out.  However, having “lost faith” for a time, Egypt never again had the surety to command such vast lands, and over the next centuries shrank down to something like its current borders. But they did take apart the entire new capital city of Armana stone by stone, defaced every statue of AH IV they could find, then did a “who, us?” for the next couple thousand years, pretending things had never happened. This inward turning allowed Ramses the Great, who came along a few decades later in a whole new Dynasty (19th) to get billions of statues and monuments made in his image, and now history sees him as the most big deal Pharaoh ever. He did manage to live nearly forever, to 91 or so, and was king the whole time. Which is pretty great in itself, when everyone else in the country died at about 38.

Ok, so that makes for a decent “A” part of A&R Thursday ... except it isn’t Thursday. So, like Teh Abomination hisself, I’m changing the rules for the “R” part just a little bit ...

Second Verse, Same As The First

Henry the Eighth I am I am, Henry the Eight I am ... oh wait, not that one. Sadly. No, this one: another INSANE anti-gun law makes a criminal out of a law abiding citizen. And now he’s a ... get this BS ... a registered gun offender. Say what? WTFF has this county become? Holy clams on the half-shell.

Mark Witaschek: Registered Gun Offender
Convicted of possessing a dud shotgun shell, one empty brass case, and a handful of loose bullets.
Turned in by his ex-wife, of course.

Where is that damn Reset Button? Time to drain the fever swamp that is Washington DC, and hose down all the insects there with DDT. And they’re ALL insects.

Witaschek surrenders to D.C. police ‘Gun Offenders Registry’; Businessman convicted of having unregistered muzzleloader bullets

Mark Witaschek never had a firearm in the District of Columbia, but he is now on the city’s Gun Offenders Registry.

This bizarre case has drawn national attention because an upstanding citizen was tried and convicted of possessing unregistered ammunition for muzzleloader bullets, which are simply pieces of lead and copper.
On Friday afternoon, I accompanied Mr. Witaschek and his wife, Bonnie, to Metropolitan Police Department headquarters to abide by the terms of his sentence, which meant registering within 48 hours.

Immediately inside the front doors and metal detectors is the Gun Offenders Registry Unit, which has suddenly appeared in the same office space as what was the Firearms Registry Unit. A white piece of paper taped over the existing painted sign indicated the office switch.

“They label it ‘gun-offender registry’ to sound like a sex-offender registry,” Mr. Witaschek noted.

There were five uniformed officers and one plainclothes cop manning the unit. We were the only civilians. Mr. Witaschek quietly gave his name and said why he was there.

“We’ve been waiting for you,” said Officer Flores

I have unregistered muzzleloader bullets. And round balls too. And thousands of unregistered pistol and rifle bullets, in your choice of cast lead, jacketed, solid copper, solid bronze, and a variety of shapes and styles. And I’m certain I could dig up a few dud rounds, although I make it a habit to break them up and dispose of them ASAP.

For Mr. Witaschek, the registration process took less than 30 minutes sinc e no other offenders were in the office at the same time.

Outside the police station, I asked Mr. Witaschek how he felt about submitting to this requirement of his sentence given by Judge Robert Morin.

I was found guilty of something that is not even illegal and forced to register for something that is not illegal,” Mr. Witaschek said. He paused, then he just shook his head.

Mr. Witaschek is appealing his conviction both on technical grounds that muzzleloaders [muzzle loading] bullets are not classified as ammunition under the law and on the constitutional grounds that his Second Amendment rights have been infringed.

Sounds like jack booted thuggery to me. Sounds like it’s high time to Take Back America from our very own cops. Sounds like cause for revolution.

Follow the link above to learn more about the new, secret list THAT YOU CAN’T SEE that the DC cops are keeping. Oh, they’ll happily share it with any other government employee. But not you, citizen scum. Bad dog! Back in line! Heads down! Praise Obama, mmm mmm mmm! Work harder!!

For more of Witaschek’s case, go here, and read about the INSANE over the top antics of a completely out of control, over-militarized police department. Every last one of these fuckers should be fired and charged. Every. Last. One. Because this is the real story here ... the you-can’t-do-shit-about-it ham-handed gestapo tactics of modern American police, operating with impunity far outside the law and any constitutional restraint. They are your masters, slave, so you’d better behave.

Mark Witaschek, a successful financial adviser with no criminal record, is facing two years in prison for possession of unregistered ammunition after D.C. police raided his house looking for guns. Mr. Witaschek has never had a firearm in the city, but he is being prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The trial starts on Nov. 4.

The police banged on the front door of Mr. Witaschek’s Georgetown home at 8:20 p.m. on July 7, 2012, to execute a search warrant for “firearms and ammunition … gun cleaning equipment, holsters, bullet holders and ammunition receipts.”

SEE ALSO: MILLER: Justice delayed is justice denied - Appeal for decision on D.C.’s gun carry-rights ban

Mr. Witaschek’s 14-year-old daughter let inside some 30 armed officers in full tactical gear.

D.C. law requires residents to register every firearm with the police, and only registered gun owners can possess ammunition, which includes spent shells and casings. The maximum penalty for violating these laws is a $1,000 fine and a year in jail.

Police based their search on a charge made by Mr. Witaschek’s estranged wife, who had earlier convinced a court clerk to issue a temporary restraining order against her husband for threatening her with a gun, although a judge later found the charge to be without merit.

What the fuck. Who does she think she is, Jerry Ryan?

h/t to Doc Jeff

Not In My America

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

They Don’t Understand This Part Either

The U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals affirmed San Francisco’s tough gun control laws Tuesday, ruling that they fall within the scope of the 2nd Amendment.

At question was the city’s requirement to lock up firearms and ban the sales of hollow-point ammunition.

“San Francisco’s regulations do not destroy the Second Amendment right,” wrote Judge Sandra S. Ikuta for the three-judge panel in a 35-page decision filed Tuesday.  The other judges on the panel were Dorothy W. Nelson, and Milan D. Smith, Jr., who concurred with Ikuta. Two of the judges were Bush appointees while the third, Nelson, was a Carter appointee.

The case, Jackson v. San Francisco, has been winding its way through federal courts since 2009. It challenged the City and County of San Francisco over local laws implemented in 2007 that compelled gun owners to secure guns either locked inside a container or disabled with a trigger lock.

Further, it took exception with the blanket ban on selling ammunition with “no sporting purpose,” which in effect took self-defense-based rounds off the local shelves. Plaintiffs in the case included Espanola Jackson, the National Rifle Association, and the San Francisco Veteran Police Officer’s Association.

Concerning the locking requirements, the court stated that, while the law, “burdened the Second Amendment because storage regulations were not part of a long historical tradition,” they were “not a substantial burden on the Second Amendment right itself because it did not prevent an individual from possessing a firearm in the home.”

The 2007 San Fransisco laws forbid the sale or transfer of hollow-point ammunition in the city or county.

On the subject of self-defense ammunition, the court again stated that while the requirement, “may burden the core of the Second Amendment right of self-defense,” it was a, “reasonable fit to achieve [San Francisco’s] goal of reducing the lethality of ammunition.”

It ain’t none of backdoor jamming San Franswishco’s effing business whether ammunition is more or less lethal. Storage regulation be damned; you own a gun, it’s your right to keep (or bear) the thing any way you choose. Granted, should you do so in a matter that actually causes harm to someone else - not “made them uncomfortable”, but real harm - then you’re subject to liability. Aside from that, sod off.

And excuse me, but where and in what invisible sub-atomic penumbra do you find “trap and skeet, competitive target shooting, deer hunting, and pest control” and other “sporting purposes” in “a well regulated militia” or any “right of the people”? It ain’t about sporting purposes. Well, not only about. This is blanket infringement, pure and simple. So San Fran and the whack-a-doodle leftard lunatics on the 9th should all strap on rubber wings, drop trou, and take a flying F at the moon.

PS - what the bleep-bleepity-bleep makes you think that a “not substantial” burden to the 2A is ok in the first place? Are you that retarded? Any burden. ANY. BURDEN. is an infringement. Period.

From now on, all citizens of San Francisco and all members of the 9th circuit court of appeals are allowed full and complete free speech. As long as they use ONLY the 1776 words that I personally select for them as their vocabulary. 1776 words is quite a lot; I can’t see that being a “substantial burden” on their 1st Amendment rights. I’ll also let them practice whatever religion they want ... as long as it’s on my list of approved faiths ... which I haven’t written yet. But WTF, if they sign off on bullshit like this case, they ought not to have any trouble accepting ex post facto. Obviously they don’t know our Constitution from a bucket of hog slop, so what difference could it make at this point in time?

“The Second Amendment is not a second-class right– that’s is what the Supreme Court says– but that’s not how the intermediate courts are treating the Second Amendment,” said [primary counsel Chuck] Michel. Jackson v San Francisco is not finished, however. Michel advised that he will be seeking en banc review of the case by the 9th Circuit.

Is USA now the PLO?

SOS Kerry: Trade Izzy Spy Pollard For Hundreds Of Pali Terrorists

WTF? Isn’t this kind of “Muslim Outreach” now NASA’s job?

Officials involved in the fraught Israeli-Palestinian peace talks said on Tuesday that an agreement was near on extending the negotiations through 2015 in exchange for the release of Jonathan J. Pollard, an American serving a life sentence for spying for Israel. The agreement would also include the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, including citizens of Israel, and a partial freeze on construction in West Bank settlements.

Secretary of State John Kerry and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel hammered out details of the emerging deal in meetings here that began Monday night and continued early on Tuesday. The agreement was awaiting approval from the White House regarding Mr. Pollard as well as from President Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority.

The Obama Regime is no friend of Israel. Never was, never will be.

The senior official said the terms of the developing agreement would be for Mr. Pollard, a former Navy intelligence analyst convicted of espionage more than a quarter century ago, to be released before Passover, which begins the evening of April 14. Israel would free a fourth batch of long-serving Palestinian prisoners as promised at the start of the talks, as well as 400 other prisoners, many of them women and children, who were not convicted of murder.

Among the prisoners would be 14 Arab-Israelis, whose release is deeply controversial in Israel and could cause a crisis in its governing coalition, with some ministers threatening to quit if they are freed.

Israel would also agree to show “restraint” in building in its West Bank settlements, which most of the world views as illegal.

Right. So let the ordinary, run of the mill, criminals go. The robbers, rapists, arsonists, thieves, extortionists, and pimps. They didn’t kill anybody - oh wait, sorry, they weren’t convicted of killing anyone - so let them out. And back out of the West Bank once again.

Wrong. Just so wrong. A stalwart America would be sending concrete and rebar to Israel by the shipload. Build, baby, build. Because we’d never even think of the West Bank as Occupied Territory. Which is isn’t. It’s part of Israel now, and has been for 40+ years. And there is no Right of Return either.

But part of Oblunder’s Fundamental Change is weakening the nation and dissing our old allies.

And Pollard? Come on. If the government didn’t have the balls to put him up against the wall at the time, or in the chair like it did the Rosenbergs, then after all this time they might as well deport him. He’s been in jail since 1987. 26 years. That’s nearly 3 life sentence jail terms in the UK. Let him go ... but his release isn’t worth that of a small army of paleo-swine-ians. No, not even one.

wort wort wort??

Hey EPA: Get Your Nose Out Of The Beer Bucket

Beer brewers are objecting to a proposed federal rule that would make it harder for breweries to sell leftover grains as animal feed instead of throwing them away.

The Food and Drug Administration rule change would mean brewers would have to meet the same standards as livestock and pet-food manufacturers, imposing new sanitary handling procedures, record keeping and other food safety processes on brewers.

Beer makers complain that the new rules, if adopted, would force them to dump millions of tons of “spent grains,” which are left over after barley, wheat and other grains are steeped in hot water.

Bear Republic brewmaster Rich Norgrove says the rules would be costly and force brewers to dump the grains, instead of the more sustainable practice of feeding them to livestock.

The Northern California brewery sells its spent grain to local ranches, which use it as an affordable food source for about 300 head of cattle, according to The Santa Rosa Press Democrat.

“Now the government wants to get involved,” Cheryl LaFranchi, a Knight’s Valley rancher, said. “What are they going to do with it? Put it in a landfill?”

The FDA says the rules stem from a new, broad modernization of the food safety system.

“ a new, broad modernization of the food safety system”??? Sounds like doublespeak for “a vast expansion of the powers of an unchecked, unelected, out of control bureaucracy”.

Feeding the leftover mash to the animals is as old as time. Nearly. I’m pretty sure the ancient Egyptians just drank the stuff whole, or cooked up the dregs into some kind of flatbread. Come on, that was so long ago they hadn’t even invented yeast yet. For bread anyway. Whatever. Once the wort comes out, the leftover mash is one of the “slops” used to slop the hogs ... it’s sterile, low sugar, cooked carbohydrates. Grains and maltings. Heck, you can make the stuff into bread yourself. Or waffles. Or cookies.

And honestly, I’d be pretty amazed if the beer brewers, who by their very nature are seriously into sanitary processes, just poured the dregs out onto the dung heap until the cattlemen came by. Get real.

Chris Thorne of the Beer Institute said he believes once the FDA has all of the information, it will see the benefits of the current system of recycling the old grain.

“This regulation is onerous and expensive, but really it’s just unnecessary. There has never been a single reported negative incidence with spent grain,” Thorne said in a statement.

The Colorado-based Brewers Association issued a statement last week calling proposal an “unwarranted burden for all brewers.”

Golly gee. Imagine that. A branch of the Obama regime going out of its way to make unnecessary regulations that would negatively impact smaller businesses. Who would have ever thought such a thing could happen?

Really? I missed it all.

Golly gee, the final episode of How I Met Your Mother aired last night, after 9 seasons. Or was it 8? Or 13? And all the social networks are just abuzz with how the ending was just ... wrong.

Gee, not sorry, but I missed it. Actually, I never saw a single episode. Not one. Not even part of one. The commercials were on constantly, and they left me dead cold. Always. Kind of like the ads running now for this thing called The Millers. Are you effin’ kidding me? You couldn’t pay me to watch that crap.

I’m not sure how I’d define what interests me for a sitcom or other television show, but my wife and I keep missing out on all these “culturally relevant” programs. Never saw The Wire. Never saw The Sopranos. Never saw that other show that just ended a couple weeks ago after a many years run either. Hell, I’m so out of it I can’t even remember its name. No, I don’t mean 30 Rock or The Office, neither of which we ever saw either. Oh, right, Breaking Bad. That was it.

And it’s always been like that for me. As a small kid, I thought The Honeymooners sucked. There wasn’t a single thing in it that was in the least bit funny. Never could stand The Brady Bunch. Don’t watch Dancing With The Stars, or any of the America’s Next Top _____. Competitive cooking shows? Give me a friggin break. I can’t smell it, I can’t taste it. Don’t waste my time. I only managed to follow Survivor for 2 or 3 season, but not until after the first generation of watchers had abandoned the show. Which I rejected as complete BS when I first heard about it, because it wasn’t really about survival much at all; the show ought to have been called lying backstabbers. I don’t find that kind of thing entertaining. I can’t watch any of the reality programs; they’re all crap.

And the shows we do love? They get cancelled. All the time. Something that starts out with an awesome premise, like Lost or Fringe, gets dragged sideways and goes to Hell. Without fail; we are the anti-Nielsons here. So whoever the Powers That Be are in TV Land, their ideas don’t mesh with ours. Ok, almost all. She watched Burn Notice and Monk from the beginning almost to their ends. “BN” bored me after 2 seasons; too much Michael doing the McGyver shiz, and nowhere near enough Michael doing Fiona. And Monk? Half the time I found the show’s concept offensive, and half the rest of the other half of the time I found it boring, as Mr. Monk never learned, never healed, never made any forward motion, never made any progress on Trudy’s murder. And the ending was an even bigger slapped together crock of crap than that made for the American version of Life On Mars (aka “It was all a dream").

Politics is pretty much the same way. The candidates we like get creamed. The ones we hate get elected and reelected forever. The only party that has come anywhere near to lining up with the things I believe in has been the Tea Party, and they’ve been media raped nearly as much as Sarah Palin. I doubt if there has been a government program or action in the past 10 years that I’ve agreed with. I simply don’t fit in. I wish I did. I always wanted to. But I don’t. Never have. And I’ve long since stopped worrying about it. Mostly.

Maybe there will be something new this fall that we can get in on the ground floor of, that becomes a cultural reference / hinge pin that everyone revolves around. I hope so. CSI and NCIS are both worn out, and the new NOLA spin off with Scott Bakula is sure to bomb even worse than the Star Trek series he killed. I mean, how the heck do you do such a piss poor job that a Star Trek series gets cancelled??? It’s already bad enough that Game of Thrones runs only 10 episodes per year with just this year and next to churn through 3 1/2 books worth of story, and that Boardwalk Empire has killed off or eliminated nearly every interesting character other than Nucky at this point. And no more sweet, sweet naked Gretchen Moll. Crap. She was the best part of Life On Mars too. Hotness, yum.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
