Terrorists!!

* Was the word already out?  - running coach reports bomb sniffing dogs all around before the blast, something he’d never seen at any other marathon. Nothing to see here, just a training exercise ... and then BOOM.

No, I’m not getting glib. I’m just trying to note the things I find before the story gets turned inside out in a couple days. Again.

Updated update ... Not much to add, now almost midnight in Boston:

A first responder source confirms to Fox News that five total explosive devices were found in the Boston area, including the two that exploded. Authorities spent the next several hours sweeping the area for additional devices.

SMALL UPDATE:
TV: 2 dead (one an 8 yo boy), 70 wounded, some say over 100, multiple limbs lost; first bomb was in a garbage can.
Just about everything else you hear is a rumor; “person of interest being held; a Saudi national”; just rumors or unattached facts. Don’t leap to conclusions.

‘Like a huge cannon’
The terrorist attack, near the marathon’s finish line, triggered widespread screaming and chaos, shattered windows and barricades and sent smoke billowing into the air at Copley Square.

They were about 50 to 100 yards apart, officials said.

“It felt like a huge cannon,” a witness told CNN about one of the blasts.

Photos from the scene showed people being carried away on stretchers. One man in a wheelchair had blood all over his face and legs.

The bombs shook buildings, sending people to seek shelter under tables, witnesses said.

Federal authorities are classifying the bombings as a terrorist attack, but it’s not clear whether the origin was domestic or foreign, a federal law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation said.

Another explosive device found

Authorities in Boston found at least one other explosive device that they were dismantling, Boston Police Commissioner Ed Davis said.

DEVELOPING: Multiple casualties are reported after at least two explosions were heard near the finish line of the Boston Marathon, according to the Boston Herald.

Witnesses reportedly heard booms that sounded like two claps of thunder near the finish line inside the Fairmount Copley Plaza Hotel.

The explosions occurred just before 3 p.m. Video of the scene showed a number of emergency crews in the area tending to victims and blood on the ground near the finish line.

“I saw two explosions. The first one was beyond the finish line. I heard a loud bang and I saw smoke rising,” Boston Herald reporter Chris Cassidy, who was running in the marathon, told the newspaper. “I kept running and I heard behind me a loud bang. It looked like it was in a trash can or something...There are people who have been hit with debris, people with bloody foreheads.”

A photographer with Fox affiliate WFXT reported seeing a number of victims with lost limbs.

Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos. Bloody spectators were being carried to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.

“There are a lot of people down,” said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg. A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

About three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another thunderous explosion could be heard a few seconds later.

Runner Laura McLean of Toronto said she heard two explosions outside the medical tent.

“There are people who are really, really bloody,” McLean said. “They were pulling them into the medical tent.”

BOSTON (MyFoxBoston.com) – Two explosions shattered the euphoria of the Boston Marathon finish line on Monday, sending authorities out on the course to carry off the injured while the stragglers in the 26.2-mile trek from Hopkinton were rerouted away from the smoking site of the blasts.

Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos. Bloody spectators were being carried to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners.

Witnesses reported hearing two explosions on the north side of Boylston Street near the photographer bridge just before 3 p.m. Fox 25’s Maria Stephanos, whose husband had just completed the race, reported that the explosion appeared to come from the inside of a building, possibly Marathon Sports.

“I was right there, I saw a plume of smoke coming from a building,” said Stephanos.

Video from SkyFox showed blood on the ground near the finish line. A Fox 25 photographer at the scene reported seeing a number of victims with lost limbs.

Reuters was reporting that the Boston Marathon headquarters was in lockdown.

It was not immediately known how many people were injured or the extent of their injuries.

The Boston Marathon was suspended. Runners were being stopped at mile 26.

The Massachusetts Ave bridge was closed and the MBTA had suspended service on the B and C lines of the Green Line.

The air space over Copley Square was closed and SkyFox was ordered out of the area at about 3:40 p.m.

Boston (CNN)—At least two explosions rocked the finish line at the Boston Marathon on Monday afternoon, injuring at least a half-dozen people, a CNN producer at the scene said.

The blasts occurred a few seconds apart on opposite sides of the street, CNN Producer Matt Frucci reported. The first left “a big plume of smoke” hovering over the area, around Boston’s Copley Square; the second occurred perhaps 10 seconds later, he said.

The explosions occurred about 2:45 p.m., about an hour after the first of the race’s nearly 27,000 runners had crossed the finish line, Frucci said. The race was halted after the explosions as was subway service into the area.

Paramedics were treating several victims at the scene, and police ordered onlookers to back away from the area. Troops from the Massachusetts National Guard were assisting police as well.

Onlooker Josh Matthews said he heard the blast, then saw police running toward the scene.

“We just heard a lot of sirens, and people were kind of frantic, and it was a bad situation, so we got out of there,” he said.

A spokeswoman for Massachusetts General Hospital said four patients were being treated there.

Fox News: Home invasion suspects killed in gunfight with NC homeowner

Two men suspected of attempting to invade a home in North Carolina Friday died after a gunfight with the homeowner.

Fayetteville Police tell WTVD both robbery suspects fled the home after the exchange of gunfire. One of the suspects, 25-year-old Dominik Council, was found dead on the side of the road nearly two hours after the incident.

The other suspect, 20-year-old Xavier White, was found wounded and transported to an area hospital, where he later died, according to the station.

Police said the homeowner, who was not identified, was injured during the gunfight. Details on the individual’s condition were not immediately available.

Police on Saturday identified 24-year-old Lamyer Campbell and 24-year-old Derek Hair as suspects in the attempted home invasion.

2 charged in attempted home invasion, 2 others killed

FAYETTEVILLE ([ABC local affiliate] WTVD)—Investigators say two men who attempted to invade a home early Friday ended up dead after a gun battle with the homeowner.

It happened in the 7500 block of Levi Road at approximately 3:37 a.m. After the exchange of gunfire, both robbers left the home.
One of the men, 20-year-old Xavier White, was found wounded on Martha Court. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center where he later died.

Police said the body of 25-year-old Dominik Lavon Council was found along the shoulder of the road in the 5400 block of South Sumac Circle around 5:45 a.m.

Police said the homeowner was also hurt in the gunfire. That person was not identified.

Saturday, detectives identified two additional suspects.

They are 24-year-old Lamyer Gorminie Campbell and 24-year-old Derek Rashaun Hair.

Both Campbell and Hair have been charged with first degree burglary, robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit first degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

And what do you know? After tracing the links three levels down, we find that the TV station actually carries a picture of the two surviving suspects.

Four armed robbers, breaking into a house in the middle of the night. And the government tells you that you have no need at all ever for more than 7 rounds    10 rounds   high capacity magazines.

But media coverage quiet on racial, 2nd Amendment overtones

When a group of black men were planning a home-invasion robbery in Fayetteville, N.C., on Friday, they stuck to an M.O. that had succeeded all over the country, but made one fatal error: They chose the wrong home.

The residents of the targeted house were home at the time and armed. After what local authorities report as a “gun battle,” two of alleged robbers died.

Most home invasion robberies follow the same script: Find a residence in a nice neighborhood where people do not live too close together. Statistics show potential victims are likely white or Asian, though professional athletes of all races are common targets, too. In this case, police are not identifying the identity of the home owner.

In an increasingly common crime around the country, especially in rural areas near cities, the perpetrators rush in, maybe beat up the occupants, take what they came for and get out. Maybe kill someone. Maybe not.

But this is the most important part of the plan: The potential victims need to be defenseless.

And that is where Xavier White, Dominik Lavon Council, Lamyer Gorminie Campbell and Derek Rashaun Hair went wrong: They chose the wrong house.

Both of the arrested suspects have prior records.

The Left Just Doesn’t Learn

The city of New Rochelle, N.Y., has removed the historic Gadsden “Don’t Tread On Me” flag from a military armory, deeming the flag “too partisan” because it often is used by the tea party movement.

And in response, veterans groups have tapped the Thomas More Law Center to take up the fight.

It was after an official ceremony on March 21 at the New Rochelle Armory that a new American flag was unfurled to replace the previous weathered flag that flew at the location. Beneath the new American flag, the yellow Gadsden Flag was flown, as is common tradition on many military sites.

However, within a week of the ceremony, City Manager Chuck Strome ordered the Gadsden flag be taken down because of “unidentified complaints” that the flag was a symbol of the tea party movement.

Peter Parente, president of the United Veterans Memorial and Patriotic Association of New Rochelle, sent Strome links to the history of the flag so he decided to allow it to remain.

Visit the “Don’t Tread on Me’ section of the WND Superstore, where you can find caps, flags, blankets and shirts – all with the famous slogan.

But the city council then stepped in, voting 5-2 to order the flag to be removed.

The five members who voted to uphold its removal were Democrats, while the two voting to reinstate the flag were Republicans.

That same day, the public works department removed the flag.

Now the flag fight is headed to court.

“Their outrageous decision to confiscate a cherished symbol of our War for Independence smacks of pure partisan politics,” Richard Thompson, chief counsel of the Thomas More Law Center, stated.

“Many Americans fought and died for our independence under that flag, and the law center will take available means to return the Gadsden flag back on the veterans’ flag pole. As one Revolutionary War hero said, we ‘have just begun to fight,’” he added.

According to the U.S. Navy website, beginning Sept. 11, 2002, all U.S. Navy ships have flown the First Navy Jack flag. The flag, first used by the Continental Navy in 1775, consists of a rattlesnake superimposed across 13 alternating red and white stripes with the motto, “Don’t Tread On Me.”

According to the site, Commodore Esek Hopkins used the First Navy Jack as a signal to engage the British in the American Revolution. The Jack in today’s fleet represents a historic reminder of the nation’s origin.

Over a half a century ago, New Rochelle chartered the veterans society, known as the UVMPA, to formally conduct veterans services, which include caring for memorials and monuments and upkeep and maintenance of armory flags throughout the city.

In the past, the city council has never sought to intervene in any aspect of the how the UVMPA fulfills its responsibilities. The Thomas More Law Center is confident it will be victorious in representing the interests of the veterans group.

The yellow Gadsden flag featuring a coiled snake and the phrase, “Don’t Tread On Me” is steeped in U.S. history dating back to its founding. It has been used by Marines and the Navy since 1775 and is often flown at Marine Corp bases and on Navy warships.

The New Rochelle armory was at one time a New York State Naval Militia Armory and training facility for both Navy and Marines.

“Those who don’t study history are condemned to be Democrats?” Did these total idiots think the Tea Party people just invented that flag ... (ahem) out of whole cloth??   

The Gadsden Flag uses the same rattlesnake metaphor as the “Snake On Stripes” flag; the two designs are essentially interchangeable. The US Navy has been flying the “Fake Snake” (there are historical doubts about it’s use during the Revolution) since 1975. The coiled rattler on a yellow background has been a symbol used by the US Marines since the very beginning.

Pop star Justin Beiber is touring Europe. When he isn’t doing one of his shows, or getting in tussles with the paparazzi, or fainting backstage, he’s out seeing the sites.

One of the places he visited was the Anne Frank Museum in Amsterdam. When given the guest book to sign, he wrote words to the effect that “Gee, I wish she was alive. She’d be a Beiber fan.”

No, I ain’t making it up.

Looks like Christopher properly celebrated Buy A Gun Day. Good luck with your new piece. I hope you got one of the newer models with the SRT (short reset trigger). Get yourself a little can of TSI-301 and some Slide Glide Lite, run about 500 rounds through it at the range, using proper barrel break in procedure, and your new toy will soon be in great shape. And remember, always run the brushes in from the chamber end.

Just be careful what targets you choose. Political Correctness now rules the firing line.

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — Officials with Port Canaveral said a police sergeant has been fired after he brought shooting targets resembling Trayvon Martin to a firearms training session.

Sgt. Ron King was terminated from the police department on Friday, according to officials.

Port officials said King brought two shooting targets which had images resembling Trayvon Martin on them to a firearms training session on April 4.

The image of someone wearing a dark hoodie with a drink can in their hand has become a well-known symbol in the death of 17-year-old Martin. The unarmed teen was shot and killed in Sanford last year.

King was supervising the training session and asked if anyone wanted to use them.

“He had a target in the back of his car and offered it to two other officers with the port,” said said John Walsh, CEO of Port Canaveral. “They rejected his offer and told him to put it back in the car.”

Officials will not say if the targets were actually used by King.

“Whether his act was hatred or stupidity, none is tolerable,” said Walsh.

But King told a different story in a YouTube video he posted, saying, “I find that people are accusing me of doing something that I just plain did not do.”

King said he brought the targets to demonstrate what officers should not shoot at, and claims anyone saying otherwise is trying to further their own political agenda.

A provider of “realistic” shooting targets to the Department of Homeland Security and other federal agencies has created a line of “non-traditional threat” targets that include pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds and elderly American gun owners.

Law Enforcement Targets, Inc. is a 21-year designer and full service provider of training targets for the DHS, the Justice Department and thousands of law enforcement agencies throughout the country.

The company’s website offers a line of “No More Hesitation” targets ”designed to give officers the experience of dealing with deadly force shooting scenarios with subjects that are not the norm during training.” The targets are, “meant to help the transition for officers who are faced with these highly unusual targets for the first time.”

The targets include “pregnant woman threat,” “older man with shotgun,” “older man in home with shotgun,” “older woman with gun,” “young school aged girl,” “young mother on playground,” and “little boy with real gun.”

Why are top training target suppliers for the government supplying the likes of the DHS with “non-traditional threat” targets of children, pregnant women, mothers in playgrounds, and elderly American gun owners unless there is a demand for such items?

This is particularly alarming given the fact that the Department of Homeland Security has purchased roughly 2 billion rounds of ammunition over the course of the last year, enough to wage a near 30 year war.

In comparison, during the height of active battle operations in Iraq, US soldiers used 5.5 million rounds of ammunition a month.

The DHS also purchased no less than 7,000 fully automatic assault rifles last September, labeling them “Personal Defense Weapons.”

The fact that targets of armed pregnant women, children, mothers in playgrounds, and American gun owners in general are being represented as “non traditional threats” “for the first time” is deeply concerning given the admitted preparations for civil unrest undertaken by Homeland Security as well as other federal agencies.

The company behind controversial shooting targets that include images of children, pregnant women and elderly gun owners received almost $2 million dollars in contracts from the Department of Homeland Security.

Minnesota-based Law Enforcement Training Inc., which brags of its close relationship with the DHS and thousands of law enforcement agencies, has stoked outrage after producing shooting targets which feature “non traditional” threats amidst banal environments such as a pregnant woman in a nursery, a mother in a school playground and a little boy.

Gun Show Weekend!

Gun Show! Please welcome the newest member of my family: Sig-Sauer P-226

I daresay I’d get on all sorts of gov’t watch lists, but as a vet, I’m already on all sorts of gov’t watch lists.

Going back tomorrow. I want to buy an ‘assault weapon’, if I can find one…

In lieu of that, I’m thinking of a SIG516.

If I buy it from the same dealer, I don’t have to do the background check again since I just did it today and the paperwork is still good. Is that the gun show loophole? Obviously if I buy from another dealer I have to do the check again so the new dealer has paperwork.

Even the American Embassy is cautioning Americans to be watchful and go with care, advise avoiding demonstrations.  Which will take place during the funeral for Mrs. Thatcher.

There will be anti Thatcher demonstrations next week and will continue for three days, by various left wing groups.  They hope to disrupt her funeral.

You folks wouldn’t believe the bile these scum, many who were not even born when she was in power, are spewing.  The song from Wizard of Oz, Ding Dong, The Witch is Dead, is being bought or played in record numbers so that it has gotten back on the charts.  The left is pushing for it to hit #1.

If a crowd of right wingers were to stage happy celebrations over the death of some commie puke we hate .... oh hang on. The right would never be allowed to hold any demonstration like that.

Anyway ....  remember this hag?  This skank?  This ugly pile of wrinkled filth?

Some of you do.  She made a bilious attack on Lady Thatcher in Parliament this week.

The New Champ…

I only know about this because I’m way behind on my Rush Limbaugh podcasts. Currently on the Jan. 29th show and he mentions this in the 2nd hour. I doubted the story, so I went looking. I should never doubt Rush.

If you love wide or big hips and have been dreaming about the hips of celebrities like Joselyn Dumas and Juliet Ibrahim, I am sure you will love to know that Mikel Ruffinelli of LA, USA has the widest hips in the world. Her hips measures a staggering 8ft in circumference.

At just five-foot-four, 39-year-old Mikel, who weighs 420-pound, is substantially wider than she is tall, but says she wouldn’t want it any other way.

Welcome to the new normal: Large-scale black mob violence is busting out in Philadelphia, Chicago, Utica, Jacksonville, St. Louis, Wilmington (Delaware), Greenville (South Carolina), Grand Rapids, Peoria, Springfield (Ohio), Newark, Boston and Brooklyn.

All in the last three weeks.

Police say they are baffled. Others say it is a regular meteorological event: “Large crowds and fights are not uncommon in the city in the warm weather,” said the ABC affiliate in Philadelphia.

The latest example of the new normal took place Tuesday in Philadelphia: 200 black people on the streets of the downtown financial district: fighting, vandalizing, rampaging, refusing to disperse, tossing bottles at police. It began at 4 p.m. and took police 90 minutes to restore order.

At the epicenter of the violence, an employee of Wendy’s said no one was surprised.

“It usually happens when the weather breaks,” Lakia Garrick told the local Fox affiliate. “They come in here and go crazy. It was really expected.”

Fourteen black people were arrested and charged with misdemeanors.

The riot came less than a month after the political and media establishment of Philadelphia rose up in outrage at an article in Philadelphia Magazine called “Being White in Philly.”

As I mentioned a couple of posts ago, sometimes you don’t even have to look. Other times, you don’t want to. So don’t worry; this stuff won’t be on the TV news anywhere. Not ever.

Reporting at the annual meeting of the American Chemical Society, a group of researchers lead by Tsanangurayi Tongesayi, an associate professor of chemistry at Monmouth University in New Jersey announced the results of their analysis of rice from Asia, Europe and South America. The imports, which currently make up about 7% of rice consumed in America, contained higher than acceptable levels of lead.

The levels ranged from six milligrams/kilogram to 12 milligrams/kilogram; factoring in average consumption, that added up to estimated lead exposure levels 30 to 60 times greater than the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) provisional total tolerable intake (PTTI) levels for children and 20-40 times greater than the standard exposure levels for adults.

Gee, maybe the contaminant level is so high because the crops were fed polluted water? Duh, ya think?

Because Asian populations in the U.S. tend to consume the most rice, the researchers also calculated exposure levels for these groups, and estimated that Asian infants and children in the U.S. could be exposed to lead at 60 to 120 times higher than the FDA’s PTTI. And young children under six years old can be especially vulnerable to lead poisoning, which can impair mental and physical development and, if the exposure is sustained, can be fatal.

“The thing is that is rice becoming a staple food for a larger percentage of the population,” says Tongesayi. He says their calculations are also conservative, since they were basing consumption on the daily recommended servings. It’s likely that many people consume more than what’s recommend in a given day– or week.

Rice from Taiwan and China contained the highest levels of lead, although rice from Italy, India, Thailand, Bhutan and the Czech Republic also contained levels higher than the PTTI.

Also: what about arsenic? Nobody really knows yet.
