a worthless and crappy system more concerned with human rights as long as it’s the criminal

He was termed “a risk to the public who should be deported” by the Home Office.
Nevertheless, a worthless, miserable dirtbag, an error on legs was allowed freedom after 14 yrs in prison for a deadly stabbing.  The laws being what they are here, it was deemed a violation of his human rights to deport him, and so here he is.

Freed after years in prison, he has been rearrested only four months after release for a mugging with violence.

This half breed monstrosity once led a boy gang of 8 named Venom.  Members of which once raped a tourist, and threw her naked into a canal.  For which they received 6 years. Hey, lets hear it for justice. Three cheers …. you gotta be kidding!

After this bad excuse for anything human killed school headmaster, he was bragging about it.  But while in prison he showed such good behavior that …. heeee’s baaaack!
Justice my freekin ass. If that existed at all, those rapists would have had their privates cut off, and crippled for life so their crime could never be repeated.

The subject of this rant was 15 when he killed the headmaster in 1995.  Convicted in ’96, in ’97 his lawyers (who should by rights be shot dead, or better yet, have the killer move in with their families) launched an appeal of his sentence. It was denied.

NOW GET THIS BMEWS READERS ………..

In 2002, the widow of the headmaster, Phillip Lawrence, was asked by the probation officers to APOLOGIZE to the “upset” killer because she was critical of his lack of remorse.

image

Can any of you wonder why I act fuckin crazy sometimes?  Look at that sub human face. Does it look to you like it is capable of human feelings like remorse?  How can anyone read that sort thing and not get nuts?  The probation officers. Idiots.  Of course he felt no remorse.  He was bragging about it to friends after he did it. His gang was called Venom.  And those stupid assed brainless twits wanted an apology from the wife?

Born in Italy, he came here as a youngster.  His mom is from the Philippines. His father has recently been arrested in Italy for killing his girlfriend.  Runs in the family I guess. Anyway … this piece of walking filth was supposed to face deportation after jail, BUT.  Oh no. Can’t have that because it was ruled that it would violate his human rights by denying him a family life.  Can you believe that?  So now the bastard is back in jail but you know in time, he’ll be out again.  We can hope someone in prison kills the low life.

Oh what the hell. As long as I’m on the subject of right … how’s this one grab ya. How’s this for public safety and common sense and justice?

Failed asylum seeker Aso Mohammed Ibrahim, who ran down and killed 12-year-old Amy Houston in November 2003, before fleeing the scene. The career criminal has won a string of appeals against deportation on the grounds he has a wife and two children in the UK. The youngsters were fathered after he sneaked into the country illegally.

The right to family life argument is now used far more commonly than cases under Article 3 of the Act, the prohibition of torture or ill treatment.
This clause has been repeatedly exploited by terrorist fanatics, such as Abu Qatada, claiming they would face brutal treatment if not allowed to remain here. Most controversially, nine Afghan hijackers who forced a plane to fly to Stansted so they could live in Britain had their wish granted.

Cases such as these prompted Mr Cameron to call the legislation ‘practically an invitation for terrorists and would-be terrorists to come to Britain’.
However, this rhetoric was quickly abandoned to keep the LibDems on side. Six months on, as foreign criminals still walk the streets with impunity, the price of this decision is painfully clear.

TELEGRAPH SOURCE

The Daily Mail can reveal two of his gang members - Henry and Allan Agum - are also back behind bars.
They were just 14 when they took part in a merciless attack, which happened as the mother-of-two from Austria enjoyed a weekend shopping trip in London. Following her ordeal she was thrown naked into a canal.

It is widely considered by police to be one of Britain’s worst-ever rape cases.

Now they have each been jailed for six years for carrying out a brutal robbery together following their release.
The revelation that two of the rapists have reoffended so quickly will intensify the row concerning Chindamo’s recall to prison just four months after he was freed after serving 14 years for the murder of headmaster Philip Lawrence.

imageimage

Oh surprise, surprise.  The scum pictured above offended again? No. Gee. Can’t trust anyone anymore.
And these two will again be free one day.  What a system.  So much for security and public safety. Who’ll be next?  We can wish it to be to be the lawyers who defend these useless creeps, but somehow they always manage to get lucky.

1. shoplift, 2. get caught, 3. run down arresting officer, 4. given time for 7 wk vacation. wth?

It is not possible to read the papers I do every day and not share the insanity on a blog.  I don’t enjoy passing on this kind of thing, but the extent of the lunacy and lack of common sense and fairness found in what they laughingly call the ‘Justice System’ just can’t be ignored.

So far, in all the time I’ve been here I haven’t run across one single person who thinks the legal system as regards criminality is working. As well, there is great unease over what might be a broken promise by the PM to undo the human rights laws that have made a mockery of justice.

If you folks back home in the USA think that things are a mite screwy with our system, and they assuredly are, be thankful that so far at least, our rules and laws whatever the flaw, isn’t tied to the European courts and their dictates. They seem to be here and the Brits are not at all happy about it.  Especially the victims of crime and their families.  Wait till you see the post that follows this one.  You’ll get a taste of insanity and what it means to have your sovereignty impinged.
But in the meantime ...

Shoplifter who ran down policeman told ‘Take 7-week trip-of-a-lifetime before we lock you up’

After mowing down a policeman in an attempt to escape justice, shoplifter Saphhia Da-Silva was expected to face the full wrath of the British legal system.

But instead magistrates have adjourned sentencing – so she can enjoy a pre-booked seven-week holiday to Australia.

Da-Silva was spotted shoplifting at a Gap store and was followed to her car by two police community support officers.

As she attempted to escape in a silver BMW, hit an empty pushchair and then PCSO Daniel Smith flinging him 5ft in the air.

Her case had been adjourned for pre-sentence reports, and a sentencing hearing would have likely been held in mid-December.

But the mother-of-two’s planned seven-week trip Down Under, on a visa, is from November 28 to January 15 so Ashford magistrates agreed to adjourn the date until January 31.

Nigel Numas, for Da-Silva, said: ‘She wants to go to Australia and take her mother and children to see her nan.’

Chairman of the bench Anne Norris told him: ‘We are dealing with something extremely serious. Is it relevant for your client to go on holiday?

‘There is also a victim who is off sick and has been seriously injured.’

girl burns koran …. girl gets busted by fuzz

So, what do you think?  Was she right in what she did?  Frankly I don’t know. I doubt it solved anything. However, why shouldn’t she have the right?
So far there haven’t been any demonstrations so I guess it’s past. Of course, with the student riots going on here in multiple cities, maybe this got lost.

Girl, 15, arrested for ‘burning Koran at school and posting footage on Facebook’

By Daily Mail Reporter

Holy book: The 15-year-old girl was questioned and bailed by detectives after the alleged burning of the Koran
A teenage girl has been arrested on suspicion of inciting religious hatred after allegedly burning an English language version of the Koran - and then posting it on Facebook.

The 15-year-old, who lives in the Sandwell area of Birmingham, West Mids, was filmed two weeks ago on her school premises burning the Islamic religious book.
Police have confirmed the video was reported to the school and has since been removed.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested on Tuesday on suspicion of making threats. Both have been released on police bail.
This incident comes just two and a half months after six yobs were arrested after filming themselves dousing the Muslim holy book with fuel and setting it ablaze behind a pub in Tyneside.

It is believed the young girl was allegedly filmed setting the booklet alight while other pupils watched on.
Two Facebook profiles have also been removed from the site.

just a few shots from the singapore air show ….

I love this kind of thing and Singapore is the one country in the world I’m sad not to see. Maybe not sad exactly but can’t shake the feeling I have missed something extraordinary.
I think whoever put this together or chose the shots for the newspaper (Telegraph) could have done better. For example. It’ s an air show. So why photos of photographers taking shots of exhibits.  Gimme more planes.

This isn’t a bad way to start the day.  I promise, it’ll get worse cos there’s all sorts of insane activity that have driven us (me especially) up the darn wall this week.

These might be the three best the Telegraph published on line.  I tried to google Singapore Air Show to see what other pix might be available. Oddly, what came up was news of a sort but no photos. Obviously I was in the wrong place (?). There was one site but I got a warning flash from FireFox about possible security on the site so I didn’t open it.  Maybe I should have?

This was the warning I got so you can see why I didn’t want to go ahead. If you do and found it safe, let us know. How’s that for chicken hearted?

secure.singaporeairshow.com uses an invalid security certificate.

Nobody Say The “M Word”

Serbian Man Arrested In California

Had House Full Of Explosives

With 9lbs of PETN and 50lbs of Hexamine recovered so far, plus blasting caps, cops say “It was a bomb factory”

11/19/2010 Yard Man Steps On Landmine

A gardener was injured today when he stepped on some form of explosive device at a home in Escondido, California.

A man was taken into custody but it was not immediately clear if he was a suspect, the report said, the San Diego Union Tribute said. The bomb squad was on the scene following the blast in the city, north of San Diego.

The gardener, 49, called emergency services about 12.50pm local time and said he was suffering a puncture wound to his arm after stepping on something that exploded. He was taken by ambulance officers to the hospital.

A neighbour said the blast rattled the windows and blinds of her home.

11/18 Highway Closed, One Arrested
Another gardener who was at the house at the time, Enrique Domingo, 23, said he thought his co-worker, Mario Garcia, stepped on a “bomb.”

Garcia was in serious condition Thursday night, a hospital spokesman said.

The sheriff’s bomb squad, the FBI, deputies and firefighters responded to the home on Via Scott in an unincorporated area of Escondido north of El Norte Parkway and west of Interstate 15. Some neighbors were evacuated.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Jan Caldwell said Thursday night that George Jakubec, 54, a resident of the home, was arrested on suspicion of possession of destructive material, manufacture of destructive material, and unlawful possession of explosives.

11/21/2010 Explosive arsenal found in Calif. home
Nine pounds of explosives were found in a Southern California home after an explosion, authorities said.

The homemade compound hexamethylene triperoxide diamine, a powder that looks like flour, was found in Mason jars in the backyard of a home near Escondido, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Jan Caldwell told the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Officers went to the property Thursday when landscaper Mario Garcia scuffed his foot on the ground and set off some of the compound that had fallen there. The resulting explosion injured his left eye and arm.

George Jakubec, renter of the property, was then arrested on suspicion of unlawfully owning explosives and possessing and manufacturing destructive materials. He is to be arraigned Monday.

Bomb experts put the jars in holes dug in the ground Friday and detonated them. They did not know if the compound would explode—it did not—so the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 were closed for three hours.

Authorities say Jakubec made the explosive, but his motive is a mystery.

Washington, Nov 26 (DPA) More home-made explosives were found in a California residence described as a ‘bomb-making factory’ by police, US broadcaster CNN reported.

Authorities found two home-made explosive devisives and some pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), an explosive used by Al Qaeda and the reason for controversial enhanced airport scanners currently being unveiled at US airports, the report said Thursday.

11/26/2010 More Explosives and Chemicals Found
Authorities have found more blasting caps and bomb-making materials in a California home they now say is too dangerous to enter.

The 54-year-old resident of the house in Escondido, George Jakubec, a naturalized U.S. citizen from Serbia, remains jailed after a judge set his bail at $5 million. The unemployed software consultant has pleaded not guilty to charges of possession of explosive devices, possession of bomb-making materials, bank robbery and burglary.

Authorities initially found homemade grenades Sunday after being summoned to the house after a gardener was hurt in an explosion.

On Wednesday, bomb squad members went back inside and discovered blasting caps and two types of explosive materials, including pentaerythritol tetranitrate, KTLA-TV in Los Angeles reported. They also found containers of hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sulfuric acid and 50 pounds of hexamine, a bomb-making material, in a storage area outside the house.

“Proactive operations on site have been suspended,” the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department said. “Explosive material and hazardous chemicals remain within the house.”

Explosives experts are working on a plan to safely remove the materials from the property but it is expected to be at least Wednesday before they go back, KTLA said.

11/22/2010 (Escondido)—George Djura Jakubec, 54, pled not guilty today to 28 criminal counts. He is accused of possessing destructive explosive devices and the ingredients to make them, as well as robbing two local banks.

Deputy District Attorney Terri Perez told Judge Marshall Hockett that the suspect’s home was “a bomb factory” containing “the largest quantity of these types of homemade explosives at one place in the United States.” Those materials pose “a huge danger to officers and the public,” she said.

In addition to bombs and explosive materials, authorities found multiple detonators, grenades and shrapnel. Authorities have not disclosed what the intended target of the bombs may have been, nor whether Jakobec was acting alone or as part of an organization.

So, sounds like a real looney. But don’t say the M word ... because aren’t Serbs supposedly Eastern Orthodox Christians? Or is this one a Bosniak? Or does that even matter in this case? Terrorist, or Albanian mafioso, or just plain old nut job? What was this guy up to? And how did he come by these materials and the know-how? And what’s with the bank robberies?

THIS IS A SPECIAL POST FOR A FEW BMEWS PEOPLE WHO REMEMBERED THE LADY

Yesterday, I posted the obit for this beautiful woman.  But at the time I didn’t have this photo. In fact, I didn’t find it on line either.
The Telegraph ran her obit today and used this photo in the hard copy, but not on line.  So I called them today and politely asked if they would email me this shot, which I love. Well, as things turned out I ended up having to use my scanner anyway, as all they had at the time was the entire page which came as a pdf.
So anyway ... at least we few have this photo and I am glad of it.  I think you guys will be too.

thanksgiving … for lots of reasons

Not much to say at the moment ... except to wish BMEWS readers a most satisfying day wherever you are.
Might be light on posts today depending on how soon we get back.

image

Seems like bad news and bad happenings every day. You might not always think there are things to be thankful for. But there really are. And you don’t have to go too far back in history to catch examples of our good fortune. Not being Pollyanna on the subject, it’s just that as awful as I sometimes think things are, I see evidence of my own good luck. We live in an old house that is below modern standards but ... the roof keeps the rain out and there isn’t any mortgage.  Some folks this Thanksgiving day have no home at all.  Some are hungry while many of us don’t worry about the next meal cos it’s always there.
Many are just plain lucky to have been born in the West, and have yet to appreciate their good luck . Most of all on this day, I’m thankful for the many troops of whatever nation and especially my people and the folks I call Battling Brits, who aren’t so lucky in their present situation but who are keeping as best they can, a West free of islamic domination.  For now at least.

So ,,, Cheers all.
Later

What am I thankful for?…

I’m thankful we still have citizens like this:

(Watch the crowd in the background. Their response brought tears to my eyes.)

The Constitution of the United States is under assault from without (NORK, China, and Islam) and from within (Obama regime and the Democrats).

I’m thankful for former Marines like Lewis. I’m thankful for the crowd that stood and placed hands over hearts. The Obamunistas shall not succeed. You will NOT force unConstitutional laws down our throats (and then send us to your death panels to deny us treatment for throat cancer)

We will NOT go quietly the way the formerly Great Britain has.

“General Thanksgiving–A Proclamation”

General Thanksgiving
By the PRESIDENT of the United States Of America

A PROCLAMATION

WHEREAS it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favour; and Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me “to recommend to the people of the United States a DAY OF PUBLICK THANKSGIVING and PRAYER, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:”

NOW THEREFORE, I do recommend and assign THURSDAY, the TWENTY-SIXTH DAY of NOVEMBER next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favorable interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquility, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed;-- for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enable to establish Constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted;-- for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge;-- and, in general, for all the great and various favours which He has been pleased to confer upon us.

And also, that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations and beseech Him to pardon our national and other transgressions;-- to enable us all, whether in publick or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shewn kindness unto us); and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as he alone knows to be best.

GIVEN under my hand, at the city of New-York, the third day of October, in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and eighty-nine.

(signed) G. Washington

Hmmm. No mention of Pilgrims. Or Squanto. Just giving thanks to God, which ‘is the duty of all nations…’

Indeed, the duty of all nations, Presidents, Congress-critters, and citizens is to give thanks to God.

Atheist? Got ya covered:

“The worst moment for the atheist is when he is really thankful and has nobody to thank”

––Dante Gabriel Rossetti

To those who might be ‘offended’ by this post: either learn some ‘tolerance’ or seek psychiatric treatment.

Faster, Sarah! Kill! Kill!

PETA

Palin Euthanizing Tasty Animals

image

IDA: Sarah Palin’s Alaska is an evil SNUFF FILM!!!!!!!!!!1111!!!!!!!!!!

Though viewers are falling faster than bludgeoned halibuts (the show’s ratings dropped by 40 percent to 3 million for Sunday’s show), “Sarah Palin’s Alaska” still has more than enough viewers to stir up controversy. Animal rights activists are up in arms over Palin’s treatment of a halibut in the latest episode.

In Defense of Animals has called the footage of Palin clubbing a halibut to death a “snuff film.” Alaska fisherman groups beg to differ, saying it’s actually a humane technique to put down the large fish, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

The former vice presidential nominee took to the seas with her daughter Bristol (off from a night of dancing, I presume), where she tells the camera, “stunning the halibut may seem a bit harsh to some, but it’s the safest and most humane way to harvest these massive fish.”

“Sarah Palin’s complete lack of compassion as demonstrated in this snuff video is disgusting. Most disturbing is the way she seems to enjoy causing suffering to other beings. When they laugh about the beating heart that Bristol holds in her hand, their complete insensitivity to the animal kingdom becomes clear. We tremble at the thought of her holding influence over the lives of others.”

Of course, anyone who knows anything, or anyone who has ever caught a big fish in a little boat, pretty much can figure out that they need a good whack, or they can mess you up.

A reader comment from FishinFool: “As a commercial halibut fisherman in southeast Alaska, I have personally clubbed thousands of halibut. I can tell you that is the only way to do it. A good size halibut can break your boat, your legs and your neck if you don’t stun them. It is far more humane than letting them gasp to death on deck. After stunning, a slice to the gills bleeds them out in a hurry. Bleeding them is why they taste so good. Unless you are a vegetarian, you can’t really say much about the killing of your food. It’s a fact that things die so you can eat.”

It’s the day before Thanksgiving. Shouldn’t the media be ignoring this story and instead running the hit-piece Palin interview that used the special camera angle to show the farm worker who was bleeding out turkeys in the background as she talked? Because, what’s a day without the looney left, MSM and Letterman included, trying to swat the Palin Pinata? They’ve almost given up on Bush, who was merely the President. But this Palin, this evil snowbilly, a private citizen, must be hounded until death and beyond!

free speech in europe … so long as it’s approved

I think this video is one of his best and it is spot on.
There isn’t anything for me to say that would make this any more correct or informative.  But I’m not certain yet that what he sees as an end to the multi-culture nightmare is actually over.  Or for that matter, political correctness.

There is a disturbing thing here I’ve been aware of for awhile and hadn’t thought a lot about till more recently.  It is the willingness of some people, almost always the more liberal and left, to squeal on other people.  Say something critical and say it with distaste in regard to Gypsies, muslims or any group or religion, and there will be some snot nosed wimpy weakling who will happily run to authorities to report your utterance.  Remember the kid in school, there was almost always one boy or girl who ran crying ... teacher, teacher .... Tommy said this or Mary did that.  Well they are all grown up now, they haven’t changed and they seem to prosper here in England.  Not to say we don’t have more then our share in the USA as well.
Not exactly a happy thought.

SOME DON’T KNOW AND OTHER MIGHT HAVE FORGOTTEN.  INGRID PITT … RIP

I don’t recall her in The Wicker Man so the part may have indeed been small.  But I recall her (of course I would) from the other movies mentioned. I remember the very pretty face and figure more then the part to be honest.  Kinda scary in a way. Always is when people pass away and they’re either your age or worse, younger.

This is how she’s remembered by the folks who saw those vampire movies.

Queen of Hammer horror Ingrid Pitt dies aged 73

By Daily Mail Reporter

* Imprisoned in Nazi concentration camp aged five
* Fled Communist East Germany on night of stage debut
* Married U.S. officer who dragged her out of River Spree

Actress Ingrid Pitt, who survived a Nazi concentration camp and fled Communist police to become one of Britain’s best-known horror stars, has died at the age of 73.

The Polish-born star collapsed in London last week while on her way to an birthday dinner hosted by members of her fan club.

The cause of death wasn’t known, although her daughter Steffanie Pitt said her mother had recently been in poor health.

Pitt was best known as a seductive screen siren in a string of British horror films, including The Vampire Lovers and Countess Dracula.

She also had a minor part in the 1973 cult classic The Wicker Man.

Born to a mother of Jewish descent, Pitt was held in a Nazi concentration camp at the age of five.

She survived the war, but was forced to flee Communist Berlin on the night of her planned stage debut, plunging into the River Spree which flows through the city in a bid to escape East German authorities.

In a dramatic twist, she was rescued by an American soldier who would go on to become her husband.

Her movie career was jump-started by her role in the 1968 action-adventure movie, ‘Where Eagles Dare’.

The World War II drama would eventually lead to her being taken on by Britain’s Hammer Films - home to Christopher Lee’s Dracula. She would play alongside the horror legend in 1971’s The House That Dripped Blood and The Wicker Man.

Robin Hardy, the director of The Wicker Man, said he had ‘very good memories’ of Pitt.

He said: ‘She was a very attractive person in every sense. She was a perfectly good actress but a very decent person as well, not that those two things don’t often go together.

‘I’m very sorry to hear she’s gone.’

Steffanie Pitt said her mother was a determined woman and that ‘acting was in her blood from the word “go“‘.

It seems her mother would have agreed, writing in her autobiography, Life’s A Scream, that she had a ‘strong sense of the dramatic even before I was born’.

Indeed, Ingrid’s birth interrupted her parents’ attempts to flee Nazi Germany via Poland in 1937, delaying their attempt to escape to Britain.

Caught by the Germans, Pitt and her mother were interned at the Stutthof concentration camp. She survived the war and joined the Berliner Ensemble, where she worked under actress Helene Weigel, the widow of German playwright Bertolt Brecht.

But the political climate in East Germany didn’t suit her, and her outspoken criticism of the Communist officials didn’t suit the government there either.

She left Berlin on the night of her planned stage debut, diving into (and nearly drowning in) the Spree, which runs through the German capital. Pitt was rescued by a handsome U.S. lieutenant, who she would later marry.

She then moved to America, and - following the breakup of her marriage - to Spain, where she starred in her first movies despite a limited command of the language.

Discovered while watching a bullfight, a career in Hollywood and British horror would follow.

Although Pitt had a series of other roles in film and on television, it was her 1970s vampire films which drew a cult following, with fans crowning her ‘England’s first lady of horror’.

Pitt embraced it, writing occasional columns for websites such as ‘Den of Geek’ and making frequent visits to conventions and festivals.

‘It’s great meeting the fans,’ wrote on her fansite, Pitt of Horror.

‘They tell me that I am more beautiful now than when I was making films a quarter of a century ago. All lies, of course, but sweet.’

Pitt is survived by her second husband, her daughter Steffanie, and a granddaughter.

99 bottles of beer on the wall …..

I can’t think of a thing to say. So here. Enjoy the article.

What a brew-ha-ha: Wife buys beer-collecting book for husband… who then spends 35 years filling their home with 6,788 cans

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 5:58 PM on 24th November 2010

It is the dream of millions of men to live in a house filled to the brim with beer cans.

For Nick West, that dream is a reality, even if all the tins are empty.

The Lloyds Bank worker, 51, has a collection of 6,788 British beer cans in his home in Clevedon, North Somerset.

He even forked out £1,240 for one of the first cans produced in Britain, a half-pint of Felinfoel pale ale from a brewery in South Wales.

His obsession stems back to Christmas 1975 when his future wife Deborah bought him a book about collecting beer cans when they were both 16.

Mr West said: ‘Deborah sort of encouraged me and has regretted it ever since. She wasn’t very happy when we had to move house to find somewhere bigger for the collection.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
