Playing under the blog hood

Ack, I’ve spent the last 3 or 4 hours trying to find and then change the character string value for one variable. That sounds easy, but it isn’t. There are hundreds and hundreds of files that work together to make this blog go, and I’m not talking about any posts or images. All these interlocked .php files, in dozens of directories. Horry clap. The English language sub-directory has over 50 files in it alone, just for various text messages for this feature or that one.

At one point I just gave up and substituted a text string straight into the code. That’s a kludge, and in my book that’s cheating. So I found it finally, even though I had to finally use a couple of DOS commands to get what I wanted.

But I fixed things, so I’ll never get another whiny email telling me that new member registration is closed. Because you could get that message if you ignored every other message that I’ve put in here about registering. And now you can’t. Ta friggin’ da.

What a pain in the ass.

So, how about those election results, eh? Have your say ... I have to go get some lunch. Than maybe I’ll post about my awesome bowling and my ideas for keeping a dying league alive.

eye candy and some thoughts on emotional males showing their ‘softer side.’

Trying to shake off a cough that doesn’t go away. Went to docs and got more cough meds with codeine which works like a charm.
Has side effects as they all do ... but one of which is being sleepy. Which I confess to. Better that, then the cough that had me up all damn night.
Oh btw ... while up anyway I was listening to BBC radio election coverage. ALL DAMN NIGHT!

A thought ... one of the guys who won his spot, and one of ours I believe, got all weepy and choked up at the end of his speech.
Why oh why the hell why do men have to do that?  Have any of you noticed that women, even those we don’t like much, haven’t done that. I mean lady politicians. If any have, I missed it.  But for some embarrassing reason, men get all emotional.  When I was very, very, very young back in the days of the dinosaurs, I used to watch baseball and football (when it was a faster better game) and on the odd occasion a political speech.  I never saw ball players get all weepy or a politician who won an election get all weepy.  I wish those who do would STOP that nonsense.  It’s damned embarrassing.

I must say, it all goes with the current thinking and the “new male” of the 21st century. Even one of the guys from Top Gear wrote about it this week. That is, men who’ve lost the plot and are pretty useless. Men who think women will like em more if they show their softer side etc.  But the damn weirdest thing I’ve read all month had to do with straight men kissing. GAK!

Every single day of the week there are these silly stories that use headlines like, ‘New studies show’ or ‘scientists say’ or ‘new facts suggest.’ OK, you get the picture. Well, one of the “new studies” claim that it’s perfectly natural for straight men to lip kiss when they are close friends. Or friends who haven’t seen one another for awhile.  Natural?  Oh yeah?  Then why does the thought of that turn my gut? No way Ho-zay! Uh uh. That is not a natural thing among straight guys.
I had any number of very close friends over the years and never wanted to kiss any of em.  And I have no desire to hug a friend either. My friends know I like em or, well, we wouldn’t be friends.  And we sure as heck are not about to get all touchy feely.

Who does these “studies” anyway?  Is there much money in it?  I was just thinking maybe a 2nd late career in my dotage might be profitable. ??
How does one get on that gravy train?

Just a thought before saying g’night and leaving all with eye candy for pleasant dreams.

I happen to see this photo in the paper and was intrigued. So I went looking for more. Amazing how different she looks in different photos. Like she isn’t at all the same person. Whatever ... she’s what she is meant to be. Which is ... Eye Candy.

Out of touch and out of favour: the future looks bleak for Barack Obama…

Simon Heffer reports on American elections ... No further comment from me, but when you read all he has to say, you might have a thing or two to add.
Heffer is btw, a conservative. But keep in mind that often times Brit cons and American cons aren’t always the same animal.  But rest assured, this fellow is no weepy eyed liberal.
This has been edited so see the link for all of it in full.

America has taken stock of Mr Obama’s presidency – and it doesn’t like what it sees.

By Simon Heffer .

In recent days both the President and his rather clumsy Vice-President, Joe Biden, have been touring America trying to get the Democratic vote out. They do not appear to have been very successful.

The combination of corporatism and overconfidence, and the economic failure it brings, are familiar to Britons from Leftist governments of both main parties since the war. Harder for us to understand is how the head of government has, in the past two years, become a prisoner of Congress, particularly since it is a Congress that, until today, his own party dominated. Self-interest on the part of many in the American political class ensured that the $787 billion stimulus package was spent unwisely and unproductively.

Mr Obama should have dealt more firmly with his congressmen, but he didn’t. His failure to communicate with his electors has been matched by a failure to engage with his colleagues, many of whom spent the election campaign trying to distance themselves from him in the hope of being returned.

He has a historically low 37 per cent approval rating. Towns all over America are blighted by poverty and dereliction. The black community, which so closely identified with Mr Obama, is especially hard hit. But the suffering is widespread. In the past three years, 2.5 million homes have been repossessed and average incomes have come down by five per cent. Fifty million people have no health insurance, a 25 per cent increase in 10 years.

Mr Obama’s apologists maintain that he has prevented a second Great Depression. However, the problem is that his supporters in 2008 expected more than that. There has been a haemorrhage of confidence in America’s future. The surge of the Tea Party reflects the common observation by formerly apolitical middle Americans that “we’ve forgotten who we are”. Such people imagine they have lost their national identity. They see a culture of freedom being wiped out by what they call “socialism”: an ideology of which the health care act is the prime symbol.

al-Qaeda terrorists ‘threatened another Lockerbie’.

More of the same but getting a bit intense I think. No panic button but I sure am tired of these grizzly bearded sub human bastards.  OH, like you aren’t. But I almost feel like we’re on some kind of front line.

By now I’m certain all of you are aware and know about the latest foiled bomb plot. Explosives in printers and printer cartridges. Seems Yemen has become a hotspot for terrorist activity and training.  Yemen?  Would anyone miss it?  And Somalia? Would anyone miss it?  We might have to take a very much closer look at Pakistan as well.

My solution to both problems and no joke intended.  Doesn’t mean there won’t still be islamic terrorists. But damn fewer and an unexpected nuke attack on both places would surely reduce the problem by a hundred fold. Then in the aftermath we send in clean up units of a newly formed death head div. to mop up and rid the world of anything remaining.  Anything short of that will not work. It can’t because their numbers are growing. They have a higher birth rate, think insects. Same thing.  These are very evil life forms, many of whom really do these things only because they enjoy the exercise, and now have a religion to use as an excuse.  Join them to the many who are true believers, all of em spawning, and you see the problem.

I do not subscribe to the argument that we can not use methods that put us in their moral grouping. Why not? If we can rid the world of the scum, who’ll question the methods later?  And those that do can be sent off to places like Afghanistan (if there’s much left) to see how they’d like living in another century.

Here’s my time honored solution.

Suspect linked to al-Qaeda plane bomb plotters arrested in Britain

A member of al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula was arrested in Britain for allegedly plotting an attack in this country, the Home Secretary Theresa May has said.

By Tom Whitehead and Caroline Gammell

The suspect was an “associate” of the terrorist group, which was linked to last week’s cargo plane bomb plot in which ink printer cartridges were loaded with enough dangerous explosive to blow up aircraft.

image

In her first speech on security, Mrs May warned such threats will continue against the country and that the police and security services were working to disrupt al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) operatives in this country.

Mrs May also warned that the threat of AQAP and its capability in Yemen was increasing.

Mrs May said: “An AQAP associate was arrested here earlier this year.

“He is alleged to have been planning a terrorist attack in this country. Threats such as these are likely to continue.”

During her speech, the Home Secretary also warned that Somalia will become a terror hotbed if “left to its own devices” plotting attacks on the UK.

She said: “Where necessary we will enhance our protective security measures; we will invest in conflict prevention and stopping terrorist plots overseas; we will refocus the strategy for preventing radicalisation in the UK; and we will strike a better balance between our liberties and our security.

“There is much good work under way to tackle the terrorist threat.

more here. read it and know your enemy

Strike a better balance, the lady says. Right. Here’s a better balance. It’s been tested and found to work when applied.

I tend to take the threat to us very seriously. And personally.

anyone have numbers of muzzie vote yesterday? meanwhile, back in the olde country ….

I came across this at American Thinker.  Posting only part so see the link for more.

Some folks claim that some blog sites and some msm outlets stir fear where there should be none.  In other words, they are just exaggerating a perceived threat. When I see things like that, I can’t explain or understand how those who are not muslim, can not see the threat. What planet are they on?

H/T American Thinker
all of it is here

London’s Islamic Republic

Avi Davis

‘Eurabia’ has become a popularly employed neologism in recent years to describe the slow melding of cultures in Europe.  Those fearful of an eventual eclipse of European civilization by a fast growing Muslim population have emphasized Europe’s ever widening acceptance of Muslim practices and beliefs—even when they directly conflict with notions of Western morality and accepted behavior.

But as events in London last week demonstrate, political developments on the continent may be fast outstripping the pace of cultural transformation.  The startling election of the Islamist Lutfur Rhaman as the first executive mayor of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets could offer us a harrowing glimpse into Europe’s Eurabian future.

Mr. Rahman belongs to the Islamic Forum of Europe, an organization which has expressed contempt for democracy and support for jihad and the imposition of sharia law on British society.  In March, the Channel 4 program Dispatches, undertaking an investigate report of the organization, found that Islamist influences were dominant in the organization.  Azad Ali, the IFE’s community affairs coordinator in London, was quoted declaring: “Democracy...if it means at the expense of not implementing the sharia, of course no one agrees with that.” A 2009 recruitment manual for the group states its program in unequivocal language:

Our goal is not simply to invite people and give da’wah [call to the faith]. Our goal is to create the True Believer, to then mobilise those believers into an organised force for change who will carry out da’wah, hisbah [enforcement of Islamic law] and jihad [struggle]. This will lead to social change and iqamatud-Deen [an Islamic social, economic and political order].

The Brits are losing their country and culture one EU court decision at a time.

This wasn’t available when I posted the story yesterday. Since then, I have discovered that some American states do in fact allow for prisoner voting. So I guess the UK isn’t unique. Unless you ask what took em so long?

This killer became a jailhouse lawyer and this is the result.

Here’s what you need to know about the scum ....

Hirst killed his landlady, Bronia Burton, 69, hitting her seven times in the head with an axe when she asked him to go outside and fetch coal for the fire.

He denied murder, but pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

And just so ya know, he’s a free man today. Diminished responsibility my sore butt.  He stole her future right to vote btw. Wonder if that might figure into the mix. Nah ... not when do good lefty libtards make the rules.

A couple of comments from the Daily Mail Mail.

Why! Why! Why do we keep allowing foreigners to tell us how to run our country.
We fought two world wars and lost millions of lives in order that we should be allowed to govern ourselves and create our own laws. We have finally succumbed.

One Chicken coming home to roost

The Story of Old Butch

Farmer John was in the fertilized egg business.

He had several hundred young layers (hens), called ‘pullets,’ and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs.

He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters.

Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells.

John’s favorite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch’s bell hadn’t rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover.

To John’s amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn’t ring. He’d sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one.

Farmer John was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Saint Lawrence County Fair and he became an overnight sensation among the judges.

The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the “No Bell Piece Prize,” but they also awarded him the “Pulletsurprise” as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren’t paying attention?

Vote carefully, the bells are not always audible.

Lock The Door Behind Him

Obama’s $2 BILLION Vacation Starts Thursday

10-12 days in India, Indonesia, and the Far East, 3,000 people, 40 airliners, all the best hotels. $200,000,000.00 PER DAY.

Guess that recession is long over, because YOU are paying the bill!

US to spend $200 mn a day on Obama’s Mumbai visit

Mumbai:  The US would be spending a whopping $200 million (Rs. 900 crore approx) per day on President Barack Obama’s visit to the city.

“The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,” a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

US President Barack Obama is likely to arrive in India on November 5 instead of November 7 as originally scheduled. He will leave Washington DC on the night of November 4 soon after the mid-term Congressional election where many pundits are predicting severe reverses for the Democratic Party.

He will be away from the US for almost 12 days, one of the longest tours during his presidency, touching India, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, before returning to Washington DC on November 14.

Barack Obama’s trip to India ... will be the biggest by any US President - with a staggering 40 aircraft and six armoured cars. Details of the elaborate arrangements for the tree-day presidential visit on November 6 were leaked to Indian newspaper earlier this week. Forty aircraft - including the Air Force One military plane - and six heavily armoured cars will follow the president around the country.
...
The entourage will be the biggest ever in terms of logistics and manpower for any US president. The president himself will be ferried around in a black Cadillac - dubbed ‘Barack Mobile’ - which has its own built in communications centre - to enable Obama to be in touch with the White House, US vice president and the US strategic command.
...
Obama will be accompanied on the trip by US first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters Malia and Sasha, according to Indian newspaper Headlines Today.
...
US officials also hope that Obama’s trip will breath new life into his presidency after a drop in support ahead of the mid-term elections. Political commentators claim that many poorer white American’s feel alienated by Obama’s failure to deliver promises two years after his rip-roaring election win. But the extent of the trip to India - which could run up a bill of hundreds of thousands of pounds - is unlikely to win over hard-up swing voters in the US. The president has booked the entire Taj Mahal Hotel for two days of his visit and the property will be a no-go area for non-hotel staff while he is staying.

Three Marine One choppers will be reassembled in India to ferry Obama and his family. These helicopters will also assist in evacuation in case of an emergency.

… one of the longest tours during his presidency, touching India, Indonesia, Japan, and South Korea, before returning to Washington DC on November 14.

The four-country visit involves major US friends and allies at a time when there is concern in Washington and Asian capitals over China’s assertive stance.

And while he’s there, he’ll do his best to avoid saying the “k word”.

Looks to me like he’s going to have a big long sulk because his party and his policies got rejected today. Oh boo hoo, we’ll make a run for the border AND we’ll get our “enemies” to pay for yet another extravagant vacation.

... and yes, he’s taking his pet teleprompters with him. They’ve never, ever been needed in the entire history of India, but to give his under 20 minute talk he will have them. Simply unbelievable.

Son of a bitch.

Somebody lock the doors so he can’t get back in. Please!

important day for America and good luck.  Dark day here, another nail in soverignty coffin for uk

Didn’t want to believe the headline that greeted me this morning when I took the paper off the front porch. Gloom. It isn’t just this one voting issue btw.But it does show how extreme the problem is.

The EU has told the govt. here that it must allow prisoners to vote. It says that to deny them that right will open England to law suits, which the Prime Minister says the country just can not afford.  Of course not.  They need the money to spend overseas helping turd worlders overcome their poverty. They need money to fund the members of the European Parliament and all the ancillary feel important offices they hold. And lets not even get into quangos.

Another nail in the sovereignty coffin.

Prisoners to get the vote

Prisoners will be given the vote in general elections for the first time in 140 years after David Cameron conceded there was nothing he could do to halt a European court ruling demanding the change

By Andrew Porter, Political Editor
Telegraph

For months, the Government’s lawyers have tried to find a way to avoid allowing 70,000 British inmates the right to take part in ballots.

But on Wednesday a representative for the Coalition will tell the Court of Appeal that the law will be changed following legal advice that the taxpayer could have to pay tens of millions of pounds in compensation.

The decision, which brings to an end six years of government attempts to avoid the issue, opens the possibility that even those facing life sentences for very serious crimes could in future shape Britain’s elections.

Ministers are now examining ways that limits could be placed on which inmates can vote. They will push for strict conditions, including a ban on “lifers” and murderers from voting.

In an attempt to limit the political fallout, there is likely to be a push to implement a threshold that would see those serving sentences longer than four years being excluded from voting.

It is understood that judges may be given responsibility for eventually deciding which criminals are allowed to vote when they are sentenced.

Senior government sources said Mr Cameron was “exasperated” and “furious” at having to agree to votes for prisoners, but the threat of costly litigation had forced his hand.

He was told that the Government faced a series of compensation claims from prisoners and potential legal action from the European Union if it did not agree to a change.

see the rest here

Read the rest BMEWS and keep it in mind when you go to the polls today.  Today England ... tomorrow ?????

a bit of eye candy with a caution. Don’t piss off the Chinese ….

I don’t follow this stuff and didn’t even when younger. But ... what made this time different is the diplomatic bru-haha and the Chinese.
Now then ... you do not want to piss off the Chinks (not meant disparagingly, I like the word) cos they can bring much discomfort on ya. To be fair, and not because she’s American, I really think and only based on a couple of photos here, that the American girl is a knockout and I prefer her to the lady from Norway.
Big deal, right?
Anyway ... they’re all Eye Candy. Correct?

American teenager Alexandria Mills was crowned the winner of the 60th anniversary beauty contest on Saturday.

But the 18-year-old Miss USA’s celebrations were tainted by claims that her biggest rival, Miss Norway, was cheated out of the title by the competition’s Chinese hosts.

the muslim scum among us ….

And I’d bet the slag is on benefits too.

You all know about the explosives found this wkend, in printer cartridge etc.  Some in the press claim that govts. are scare mongering. They don’t deny the threat but say it doesn’t warrant the exposure it’s getting and the warnings to be aware. Well I think they’re wrong.  No pun intended but they are dead wrong.
And this is only one small example.

Meanwhile, the hand wringers and bed wetting bleeding hearts on the left are demanding “inquiries” into the reports of Brit Intel turning their backs on torture used by Americans.

‘Smiling’ woman ‘stabbed MP twice in stomach after confronting him about Iraq war’

By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 3:15 PM on 1st November 2010

A woman stabbed an east London MP twice in the stomach in revenge for his vote for the war in Iraq, a court heard.

Stephen Timms told the Old Bailey he thought Roshonara Choudhry, 21, was coming to shake hands, and she smiled before lunging at him on May 14 this year.

Mr Timms, Labour MP for East Ham, was sent ‘reeling and staggering’ before retreating into the men’s toilets at the community centre in Beckton.

image

His assistant Andrew Bazeley prised the kitchen knife away from her and she was placed in a “bear hug” by a security guard before police arrived. Another knife was found in her bag.

Choudhry told detectives she was trying to kill Mr Timms for “punishment” and “to get revenge for the people of Iraq”, prosecutor William Boyce QC, said.

“When asked why she had stabbed him a second time she said ‘because I wasn’t going to stop stabbing until someone made me‘,” Mr Boyce added.

Choudhry, who was not in court, is accused of attempted murder and two charges of having an offensive weapon.

Jeremy Dein QC, defending, said she did not recognize the jurisdiction of the court and did not wish her lawyers to challenge evidence put before the jury.
