Bad Moon Rising

You’ll have to forgive me if I seem a little grouchy today. I have been in a great deal of pain the last two days and it’s getting worse. I seem to have ruptured a disk in my lower back, specifically the L5 vertebrae pictured at right.

The medical profession has stocked me up on steroids, muscle relaxers and pain pills for now and the misery has subsided to a dull roar. I’m going in for an MRI and X-ray tomorrow to verify the diagnosis so posting may be a wee bit light tomorrow morning.

On top of everything else the BMEWS site was hacked yesterday around 12:00 noon. Some pissant script kiddie managed to work his way in and overwrite one of the critical system files on our web server. I was online and caught it rather quickly (outage only lasted about ten minutes) but I’m still pissed about that and have spent hours going through the logs to track the rat bastard down. I’ll find him yet. Meanwhile, the hole has been securely closed.

Then last night some pompous worm decided to start critiquing one of the posts here yesterday and I finally had enough.

I majored in Computer Science for graduate and post-graduate degrees and my minor was in History. I still love reading history and learning more about it all the time.

What I post here has to be short and to the point, usually written in short bursts and quite often I have to condense stuff. Even then I manage over 20,000 words a month with as few grammar and spelling errors as time allows due to having a full-time freakin’ job to manage - unlike some of the cockroaches who have all day to pick through every word I type.

DAMN! I need another pain pill ... I wonder if Rush can loan me some of the good stuff?

Rosie O’Donnell Decided to Leave ‘View’
When Walters Failed to Defend Her Against Trump

We told you on Jan. 10: Rosie O’Donnell would leave “The View.” Her announcement this morning has nothing to do with contract negotiations breaking down. ABC did not end Rosie’s “View.” Rosie ended it.

And don’t believe the spin that ABC was mad at her for comments made at the Matrix luncheon on Monday. Rosie was finished with “The View” over the Christmas holiday when Barbara Walters failed to defend her against Donald Trump.

In fact, it was worse than that: When O’Donnell discovered that Walters had bad-mouthed her to Trump, she decided to leave the show. It was that simple.

ABC, in fact, wanted O’Donnell to stay with the show. They offered her, as she said on the air, a three-year contract. She refused to sign. Rosie said she’d stay for a year, and this is what you don’t know: She wanted $10 million to do so.

ABC did not turn down the money. They turned down the one-year part. They wanted stability. They would have paid her something like $30 million to sign for three years. That’s how much they wanted her. She was the future of “The View.”

10 - 9 - 8 - 7 - 6 - 5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 .... LOST! Again! We’re over CONUS (just barely) and that is a very important USAF base below. In fact, if could choose one base to serve out an enlistment and retire at, this would be the place. This should be an easy one for you Zoomies. If you can’t tell me which base this is based on the Google high altitude image, the topography, the outstanding golf course and finally ... the picture at the bottom, you better turn in your wings and go fly jets for the Navy pukes. Now where in heck am I?

House Panel Votes To Subpoena Rice On Iraq
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Wed Apr 25, 2007 1:34pm ET143

U.S. Democratic lawmakers voted on Wednesday to subpoena Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to testify about administration justifications for the U.S. invasion of Iraq in 2003.

On a party-line vote of 21-10, the House of Representatives’ Oversight and Government Reform Committee directed Rice to appear before the panel next month.

Republicans accused Democrats of a “fishing expedition.” But Democrats said they want Rice to explain what she knew about administration’s warnings, later proven false, that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger for nuclear arms.

“There was one person in the White House who had primary responsibility to get the intelligence about Iraq right—and that was Secretary Rice who was then President George W. Bush’s national security adviser,” said committee Chairman Henry Waxman, a California Democrat.

“The American public was misled about the threat posed by Iraq, and this committee is going to do its part to find out why,” Waxman said.

Compare the two - human weasel and animal weasel. I rest my case.

The Case Of The Hateful Ham Sandwich

SOMEBODY ALERT THE MILITARY! We have sixth graders offending Muslims with ham sandwiches. The little freak actually placed a ham sandwich on a table at lunch time where Muslim kids from Somalia were sitting. Arrest that little criminal! How dare he offend Muslims? Have him arrested now or better yet shoot him on sight. We will not tolerate this kind of insensitivity toward our Muslim overlords. Praise Allah!

Police Investigate Possible Hate Crime At Lewiston School
LEWISTON, MAINE (WCHS-TV) - 4/19/2007 1:51:22 PM

Lewiston police are investigating as a possible hate crime an incident in which a ham steak was placed in a bag where a group of Somali students were sitting. Such an incident would be offensive to Somalis, who are Muslims and consider pork unclean.

A Lewiston Middle School student was suspended after the incident, which happened April 11th. Superintendent Leon Levesque says the incident’s being treated seriously and police are investigating.

The incident recalled one last summer in which a man rolled a pig’s head into a mosque in Lewiston, which has a large Somali population. The courts later ordered the man to stay away from the mosque.

Congress Bans Heroes

Whether you call it “friendly fire” or, more appropriately “the fog of war”, what happened to Pat Tillman was a sad accident that happened to a brave young man who loved his country. Now his name is being dragged through the mud and used by anti-war Democrats to further dehumanize the war in Afghanistan and Iraq and throw mud on the military.

Throw in cute, photogenic Jessica Lynch bravely telling how she wasn’t really the heroic figure ABC made her out to be and you have a full-blown media circus on your hands, orchestrated by the Democrats in a further effort to destroy confidence in the US military and harass the Bush administration.

Meanwhile, in Iraq and Afghanistan, brave men and women are performing acts of incredible bravery, courage and self-sacrifice every day and quite a few are being awarded Silver Stars, Navy Crosses and in two cases the Medal Of Honor for their acts.

Yet the media cares not a whit about those heroes and can’t find time to tell you about any of them except in some short blurb on the back pages of some yellow newspaper. And the Democrats ... they just want to cut and run away from the war against the terrorists and thereby make the sacrifices of those heroes utterly pointless.

These people hate the President with a madness unheard of since the Civil War and they hate the military even more and are steadily destroying morale in our troops in the field and making it more difficult to encourage young people to serve.

Why? Because they can ... and they are so hate-filled and power hungry that they don’t care what harm they may cause. The end justifies the means, so to speak. Hmmmm. Can you tell me who first coined that phrase?

Ranger Alleges Cover-up In Tillman Case
WASHINGTON - Tue Apr 24, 7:30 PM ET

imageimageAn Army Ranger who was with Pat Tillman when the former football star was cut down by friendly fire in Afghanistan said Tuesday a commanding officer had ordered him to keep quiet about what happened.

The military at first portrayed Tillman’s death as the result of heroic combat with the enemy. Army Spc. Bryan O’Neal told a congressional hearing that when he got the chance to talk to Tillman’s brother, who had been in a nearby convoy on the fateful day, “I was ordered not to tell him what happened.”

“You were ordered not to tell him?” repeated Rep. Henry Waxman (news, bio, voting record), D-Calif., chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. “Roger that, sir,” replied O’Neal, dressed in his Army uniform.

The revelation came as committee members questioned whether, and when, top Defense officials and the White House knew that Tillman’s death in eastern Afghanistan three years ago was actually a result of gunfire from fellow U.S. soldiers.

The committee also heard from Jessica Lynch, the former Army private who was badly injured when her convoy was ambushed in Iraq in 2003. She was later rescued by American troops from an Iraqi hospital, but the tale of her ambush was changed into a story of heroism on her part.

Still hampered by her injuries, Lynch walked slowly to the witness table, took a seat alongside Tillman’s family members and said the heroism belonged to others who fought in Iraq, such as her roommate Lori Piestewa, who died in the same ambush in which Lynch was captured. “The bottom line is the American people are capable of determining their own ideals of heroes and they don’t need to be told elaborate lies,” Lynch said.

Tillman’s death received worldwide attention because he had walked away from a huge contract with the NFL’s Arizona Cardinals to enlist in the Army after the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

His family was initially misled by the Pentagon and did not learn the truth for more than a month. Tillman was awarded a Silver Star based on fabricated accounts — who fabricated them still isn’t clear after several investigations.

“We don’t know what the secretary of defense knew, we don’t know what the White House knew,” Waxman said. “What we do know is these were not a series of accidents, these stories. They were calculatedly put out for a public relations purpose. ... Even now there seems to be a cover-up.”

Election 2008 - Republican Poll

In our last Republican 2008 Poll, you chose Rudy Giuliani by a comfortable margin. That was a few months back and now we’re going to do it again to see if anything has changed. The candidates have been out there wandering around collecting money for their campaigns and stumping from Iowa to New Hampshire trying to drum up support for an election that is eighteen months away.

The Democrats are also chasing the money and the votes with Barak Hussein Obama-Rama-Shama-Lama-Ding-Dong, Hitlery Rodham Clinton, John “Pretty Hair” Edwards leading the pack with kooks like Dennis Kucinich straggling behind.

Cast your vote in our poll and let’s see what the preliminary count looks like. We’ll do this again in a few months and every few months up until the Republican convention next year. The polls will be open (to everyone, not just members) for the next 24 hours. Then we’ll tally the votes and see what’s what.

Well, the votes are all in and the poll is now closed. It looks like FRED gets our nomination in a landslide. Rudy is second and Tom & Newt are tied for third. Somebody call Fred and tell him to go ahead and declare himself and start raising money.

Lost!

Ssssshhhhhhh! Yes, we’re lost over another USAF base and we’re in deep kimchee if they catch us up here. I could tell you what goes on at this base but then I’d have to shoot you. We’re down South again and the weather is beautiful. I see a CV-22 down there on the ground but don’t let that confuse you. It really is a USAF base - and there is another huge USAF base off our right wing. Now where in heck am I?
