Firing Squad

The US soldier who murdered several of his fellow troops in a grenade attack during the Iraq invasion finally got his judgement yesterday. The death penalty, that is. It’s about time. Notice the bulletproof vest under that uniform below? As far as I’m concerned, the best justice would be to send this creep back to his platoon. He wouldn’t last five minutes ....

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - Hours after giving a brief, barely audible apology, a soldier was sentenced to death by a military jury for attacking comrades with a rifle and grenades early in the Iraq invasion.

Sgt. Hasan Akbar, 34, could have been sentenced Thursday to life in prison with or without parole for the March 2003 attack on members of the elite 101st Airborne Division at Camp Pennsylvania in Kuwait. Two officers were killed and 14 other soldiers were wounded.

Prosecutors say Akbar launched the attack at his camp — days before the soldiers were to move into Iraq — because he was concerned about U.S. troops killing fellow Muslims in the Iraq war.

“He is a hate-filled, ideologically driven murderer,” chief prosecutor Lt. Col. Michael Mulligan said. He added that Akbar wrote in his diary in 1997, “My life will not be complete unless America is destroyed.”

Akbar is the first American since the Vietnam era to be prosecuted on charges of murdering a fellow soldier during wartime.

Akbar will be the sixth person on the military’s death row at Fort Leavenworth, Kan. The last U.S. military execution was in 1961.

For my money, killing’s too good for this weasel. A public beheading is in order here. Where’s my sword ....?

Lighter thinking …

.  The ponderances have been heavy. The responses has been surprising and enlightening. But what say we lighten it up a little bit?

Nightcap

The skipper is going to go rest and watch TV for the rest of the evening (it’s been a monster of a day at the office) but I wanted to leave you with something to chew on tonight. Read the information below and ponder how it affects you and if you agree with it. I’ll tell you tomorrow where it came from (although several of our readers may already guess) ....

Hint: This philosophy began with Aristotle who woke up one day and decided that “A = A” and “A <> ¬A". Mathematicians in our audience will know what that all means.

Update: A few have guessed the source. If you want to read more, you’ re in for a treat. Read this post that I put on the blog last year.

Car Talk Puzzler

I heard this on ”Car Talk” this weekend and thought it was a good puzzler.

An English teacher was the butt of a practical joke by one of his brighter students.  Each day, the student would take one letter from both the front and back of the teacher’s car model name plate.  And each day, the model name plate would still be a word.  For instance, if the teacher had a Mustang, the first day would leave the plate being “ustan” (taking away the ‘M’ and the ‘g’), but this is not a word.

The student did this for three days, and each day, the remaining letters made a valid word.

What kind of car did the teacher drive?

Answer in the extended entry

When you can’t argue, might as well destroy

From Michelle Malkin (sigh), we learn:

Freeze the Media Day” is when people all around the country drop superglue and toothpicks into the money slots of slimy (sic) corperate media newspaper dispensers.

Of course, they don’t think of the “little guys” who keep up the newspaper boxes, deliver the papers, drive the trucks, or anyone else.  It’s all about destroying ”The Man”.

(BTW, if you should be so inclined, comments are open at the site linked above)

Update: Looks like Portland is in on the vandalism as well.

Well, well, look at what we have here

UN Probes German Companies in Oil for Food Scandal

German companies are also involved in the kickback scandal looming over the oil for food program. United Nations investigators recently requested exports files on 50 German firms from the Foreign Ministry.

Isn’t it interesting how, one by one, all of the countries that were so “opposed” to the invasion of Iraq and the toppling of Saddam’s regime, are being found out as participating of this cluster-fornication of a program?

Bankers in the city along the Rhone River did brisk business with Saddam, even during the United Nations embargo. Saddam’s followers secretly demanded their piece of the pie: those “pieces” were shares of inflated bills issued to corporations planning to supply goods to Baghdad as part of the oil-for-food program. As one of several channels, one account held at the tony Geneva private bank Safdie could be used to transfer these kickbacks.

Moonbat Posse

!! ATTENTION !!

One of our members (lisar915) is in trouble at her blog. The poor little dear is trying to talk sense to her readers and she is under attack from mindless zombies from the Moonbat Left. They have filled her comments with the usual Leftist drivel and are in dire need of an old fashioned ass whooping.

So come by the Skipper’s office, pick up your rifle and plenty of ammo. Saddle up your old horse and follow the Skipper over to The Urban Grind. Here is a link to one of her recent posts ("CIA Reports That Search For WMD is Over") that seems to have drawn a lot of attention from the “Living Brain Dead”, those mindles ghouls who wander the streets after sunset spouting their carefully rehearsed drivel, spewing hatred at anyone who doesn’t agree with them.

Your instructions, as duly deputized officers of the law is to take no prisoners. Shoot to kill. Verbally blast these monsters of the night. Bring me back their heads, whether they are empty or not! Now, raise your right hand and repeat after me ....

I HATE FREAKING MORONS, so help me God.

Now get on the trail and go kick some bootie ....

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
