Did You Miss This?

I got this from Boortz’s site yesterday

Check out the picture closely.  Looks tragic, right?

Check out the t-shirt the guy in the back is wearing.

Let’s hope the one on the stretcher is this asshole’s friend.

I sure would like to see the numbers on how many terrorist sympathizers went for “the big swim” earlier this week.  I’d read the Acer region was a hot bed for the fuckers.  May they rot in hell!

More Interesting Headlines Of The Year

I totally forgot about Bill Cosby.

Or that Jesse Jackson said ‘Negroes Can Drive Cars Fast’ Um Hmmm, go ahead.  Have a white guy say that and see how long it’d be before he’d be tar and feathered.

How could I have forgotten Nick Berg?

Selling Weenies (And “Weenie” Relief?)

Sorry, I could not help myself.

After reading this story that’s the only headline I could come up with.

If you have a better one, let us know.

Blatant Hypocrisy

Recently you may have read about how the NY TImes and the Washington Post printed articles claiming the US was stingy (this in addition to that Norwegian foron you read about here.)

Now I find an interesting little piece that highlights corporate donations to the disaster relief efforts.

In case I missed it, will you all please read this and tell me where the NY Times or the Washington Post stands as far as donations on the list provided?

And while you’re at it, maybe enlighten me why the US government is considered miserly when it donates about 1 percent of its GDP to disaster assistance yet no criticism is forthcoming from the Times or Post of Bill Gates when he only donated $3 million.  Isn’t he worth over 50 BILLION?  Do the math with me know.  If he were to donate ONE PERCENT of his wealth (which is what the US is criticized for giving) shouldn’t he have donated 500 MILLION DOLLARS!?!?!

But, NOOOOO!!!!  We can’t criticize Mr. Bill, can we?

Memorial Day for Bums

I got this from the Wall St. Journal’s Best of the Web.

Funny how we never really heard much about the homeless (bums) when Clinton was President, eh?  But with Bush?  Hell, did you even know that 125 cities observe “National Homeless Persons’ Memorial Day?”

What an absolute crock of shit!

But the reporting out of Honolulu takes the cake.

They report from the homeless coalition that

“there are more than 3.5 million homeless Americans nationwide. An estimated 3,000 died last year, and the homeless coalition expects that figure to rise this year. The No. 1 cause of death was natural causes, followed by homicide, suicide and hypothermia.”

On the surface you’d say, “OK, so what?  3.5 million?  Maybe a little high but then again, Bush is President so it MUST be true.  If it were Clinton we are all sure the numbers would be under 1 million.  Right?”

But here’s where James Taranto and Company get into the “red meat” of the issue:

“The coalition claims that 3,000 out of 3.5 million homeless people died last year. That’s a death rate of 0.86 per thousand. According to the CIA World Factbook, the overall annual death rate for Americans is 8.34 per thousand. That means that if the coalition’s numbers are on the level, the average American is 9.7 times as likely to die in a given year as the average homeless person--this notwithstanding the sky-high rates of substance abuse and severe mental illness among the “homeless.”

Hell, with those kind of numbers I am putting my house on the market and finding a cardboard box to live in.  I’ll probably live to be 130 at that rate.

More likely, though, is that this homeless coalition is full of shit with their numbers yet no reporter bothers to check them.  So much for fair and balanced in the MSM.

Non-Success

OK, I tried yesterday to vget folks to contribute “big” events in 2004 for a possible poll but participation was sparse.

So, fire up the printer and click on the links below to print on a month by month or alphabetical basis the “news” events of 2004 to include deaths and disasters.

While the printer is humming away, pour yourself a scotch or three and read how much actually happened during this year.

And then you wonder why time flies by so quickly?  It’s because so much is happening around us we have little time to really sit down, get our breaths, and contemplate matters.  It’s one thing after another in the world, the nation, the state, the community, our households and our families (and friends, acquaintences, co-workers and neighbors.)

It’s never-ending

It’s 24/7.

“Stuff” is going on all the time.

Even more amazing is how much of it we forget even happened this year.

OK, the links.

A month by month news events list is here.

An alphabetical list of deaths is here.

A month by month disasters events list is here.

The Hodge-Podge Day

It’s not like all days are hodge-podge days here at BMEWS but today will definitely be one of those.  It’s barely 6 AM, I am catching a cold (again) so I will fling things up with no rhyme or reason.

Enjoy this, the last day of 2004.

May your 2005 be more fun, more prosperous and bring you good health to enjoy it all.

It’s Time To Kiss Another One Goodbye

Alright, everyone! Listen up! The bar opens at midnight tonight (December 31, 2004 00:00 GMT). You will have twenty four hours to get totally sozzled .. or sizzled .. or subbled .. or whatever floats your boat. Drink up and enjoy the stone-cold silence coming from the Leftists in our country. We will then embark on a journey into a New Year - 2005, to be precise.

Beers To You!

image

I’m outta here. I’ll see you good folks on the other side .. sometime Saturday afternoon. Until then, be safe, be secure, be sozzled.

One Last Parting Shot At 2004

We said goodbye to all the folks we like who died in 2004. Now it’s time to refresh our memory of the year with some of the stoopidest moments or those moments when bad things happened to bad people - you know, Barking Moonbats.

Of course, we have to start with Howard Dean and the “Scream Heard ‘Round The World”.

image

The Palestinian Cockroach died in a French hospital. Sayonara, sucker!

image

The DemocRATs brought us laughs galore with “The Seven Dwarfs”. Snow White was missing in action.

image

Janet Jackson had a “wardrobe malfunction”, which was quite tilillating to viewers of the Super Bowl - no one remembers who won the game.

image

Saddam Hussein got a shave, started tending a garden and waited his trial for crimes against all galactic life forms.

image

Vince McMahon of World Wrestling tried to get the NBA and the WWE to merge. Ron Artest wants a piece of “The Rock”.

image

In one of the lamest convention speeches ever recorded, John Kerry “reported for duty”. 53% of the country laughed him back to Massachusetts.

image

Hangin’s too good for Scott Peterson but jury decided to give him death sentence anyway.

image

Dan Rather managed to screw himself - on national TV. Hard.

image

This last one only applies if you live in Alabama and especially if you’re an Alabama fan like myself. The Auburn Tigers will probably go 13-0 for the season .... and will end up in either 2nd or 3rd place in the polls. To date, Auburn will have won exactly ZERO national championships. The sound you hear over East Central Alabama is Bear Bryant and God chuckling over their little joke. Hee-hee ..

A Final Farewell To Those We Will Miss

It’s that time of year to bid a final farewell to several people who shuffled off this mortal coil during the last year. The departure of these people brought a tear of sadness to our eyes. There were others we were glad to see go but that’s another story for another day. Here is our gallery of famous faces who left us in 2004 and who we will miss dearly ....

So long, Ronnie! We’re gonna miss your smiling face and honest good sense!

image

Rodney Dangerfield, we don’t know how we’ll face the world anymore without your silly humor. I’m sure God will finally make sure you get some respect!

image

Captain Kangaroo, we grew up with you and Mister Greenjeans - Mr. Moose and Grandfather Clock as well.

image

Tony Randall, you made us laugh in dozens of movies and in “The Odd Couple”. You were a class act!

image

Ray Charles, we thank you for inventing true soul .. and the best rendition of “America” ever recorded.

image

Christopher Reeve, we will remember you as Superman and a fine actor. God will repair your body in heaven.

image

Marlon Brando, you kinda wigged out on us and got kinda freaky during the last decade or two but we’ll never forget Stanley Kowalski or Don Corleone.

image

Finally, Pat Tillman. There is always a special place in our heart for selfless heros of your stature, conviction and courage.

image

Farewell, Gentlemen! We will miss all of you. Each and every one of you contributed in some way to making this a better world with the talents God gave you.

Now We’ve Done It!

It appears that the earthquake and tsunamis were caused human induistrial activity.  Because of it, the sea-god, Tai-Waku.

Even the Sierra Club weighs in.

If you read anything today, read this one, too!

Trust me, you will not regret it.  The moonbats are out in full force.

Let’s Make a List

Come on! Join in!

Let’s make a list of the biggest stories of 2004.

Well have three lists:

the biggest stories
the biggest headline grabbers
the biggest stories ignored

I got my idea from reading Ann Coulter’s recent piece.

If we get enough input I’ll post the results and maybe our SecWar can come up with one of his nifty poll thingies where we can vote.

I’ll start with these:

tsunami
Bush re-election
Sandy Berger
Abu Ghraib
Saddam’s capture
Oil-for-Food scandal
Swiftboats
Homosexual marriage
Pat Tillman
Martha Stewart
Boston Red Sox
Steroids

Your turn.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.
