If you just want to jump right in, go ahead and enter a title in the “Create or Find Page” box over there on the left menu. The Wiki will tell you that article does not exist and asks you if you want to create it. Answer “Yes” and you’re off to edit your article. |
Create an Article
Creating an article in a wiki is as simple as finding something that doesn’t exist. A wiki assumes that whenever someone searches for an article and no results are found or clicks on a link to an article that doesn’t exist, that someone will want to create that information for the community.
You may notice that every page has a name, and that every internal link Leads to a page whose name is the same as the text of the link; this is one of the central principles of wiki. You may notice that some names which should be links aren’t, but do have a trailing hyperlinked question-mark; these are discussed below.
Click on the ‘Edit’ link at the top of the page. This will take you to a form where the text of the page is presented in a text area, which you can edit. Submit the form to apply your changes to the wiki. If you don’t see an Edit tab, the page is locked by the owner. There is a short page here that describes how to create an entry. A wiki is a website designed for collaboration. Unlike a traditional website where pages can only be read, in a wiki everyone can edit, update and append pages with new information, all without knowing HTML. To a great degree, wiki is like a normal website - read the pages, click on the links to surf to other pages, etc. I have provided a Wiki page here that will help you format your text if you want to get real fancy.
