Website Of The Day: Free Medication

KSDK Channel Five here in St. Louis has a featured Website Of The day each day. No, they haven’t featured me yet but that’s OK. They’ll get around to it any day now. Recently, they featured a web site that I thought you all might be interested in. It’s a new web site dedicated to helping people get free or deeply discounted medications. The site is called WeHelpMeds.com and has a ton of useful information for people who don’t have medical insurance, are on medicare or medicaid, or just can’t afford the high co-pays on some medications. They claim to have a database that contains over 1916 free or discounted medications and 192 patient assistance programs. Here’s the scoop ....

Many pharmaceutical companies in response to the growing cost of medicine now sponsor patient assistance programs. These programs are helping patients who qualify receive medication free of charge or at a discount. These programs are not related to the medicare discount program. Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
