America Hater at Wa-Po

Frankly, I am not surprised to have read about this.  I have always known the media to be biased in ways we sometimes can not fathom.

But to take a good look at the depths of that bias, the level of hatred for America and all things that represent her, we need go no further than the managing editor of the Washington Post, Phillip Bennett.

He was in China recently and actually said the US should not be the world’s superpower!

Straight from the transcript:

Yong Tang: In such sense, do you think America should be the leader of the world?

Bennett: No, I don’t think US should be the leader of the world. My job is helping my readers trying to understand what is happening now. What is happening now is very difficult to understand. The world is very complex. There are various complex forces occurring in it. I don’t think you can imagine a world where one country or one group of people could lead everybody else. I can’t imagine that could happen. I also think it is unhealthy to have one country as the leader of the world. People in other countries don’t want to be led by foreign countries. They may want to have good relations with it or they may want to share with what is good in that country.

This Assnugget then goes on to say:

the Washington Post has a correspondent bureau in Baghdad. One of the jobs of our correspondents in Baghdad is to tell our readers what the Bush administration is trying to hide. Bush says democracy is advancing in Iraq, but our correspondents say the situation there is much more complex than that. Our job is to put that in the public domain and challenge the government and hold them accountable. We do that by having independent reporting about events, by telling our readers what the actual situation is, with as much independence, fairness and accuracy as we can.

He’s in CHINA, of all fucking places, talking about INDEPENDENCE, FAIRNESS, and ACCURACY?  Where’s the reporting about Chinese human rights abuses, asshole?  Yeah, he won’t publish those because he’ll get kicked out of the country!

I keep reading this and getting even more infuriated!  This is his response to a question about the election coverage:

Yong Tang: It seems that the influence of mainstream media in America is on the decline. One example is about the general elections last year. The Washington Post and almost all the other major newspapers in the country firmly sided with Democratic Presidential candidate John Kerry but finally Bush still won the reelection by a wide margin.

Bennett: Yes, the influence of the mainstream media is on the decline, but I don’t think it is because of the reasons you said. Again it goes back to what an editorial policy of a newspaper is. Major American newspapers endorse Democratic candidates every time. I think that endorsement means nothing. I don’t think people will vote according to that endorsement. It is just an old tradition which really doesn’t have lot of meaning any more today.

Well, Mr. Bennett, if it does not have meaning then why do you do it if not to try and persuade voters?  You LYING SACK OF SHIT!!!!  And because you and your ilk are such distorters of truth and promulgators of partisan lies, your influence WILL continue to go down.  We’ve got your number, pal!

The lies continue------

Yong Tang: What is the biggest difference between today’s tabloid journalism and Yellow Journalism during the late 1800s?

Bennett: According to The Yellow Journalism, they write things that are not true. Part of the origin of Yellow Journalism is inventing things and making them up in order to capture people’s imagination. Today even the tabloids hold a standard of accuracy higher than that standard then.

Hey, Assnugget, explain to me the difference between the media NOT following up on stories about Kerry’s service, his military records, his lies, his treasonous acts, etc. and your efforts to demonize the President.  Why is it when you publish stories that are patently false, or interview people who tell outright lies, or endorse books by authors who have an axe to grind with the administration which clouds their abilities to be “honest” that you don’t call this yellow-journalism?  I see no difference.

OK, y’all go read the rest for yourselves. I am sickened by it.

More Reasons To Detest Democrats

There are many reasons I do not like Democrats of any persuasion.  You’ve read about them on this blog:  their propensity for violence and criminal activity; their lies; their subterfuge; their liberalisms; their hatred for our President; their hatred for the United States; their coddling of criminals; their cozying up to terrorists; etc.

Now I have two more:

They are responsible for many of the laws passed in this country that stop us from being able to get information from terrorists so we “export” their asses to countries that aren’t so squeamish about ripping out nails or using genital shock therapy to get answers.

The Democrats are against that. Violates their “human rights” ya’ know?

One opponent, as asshole from Massachusetts named Markey, is opposed because sending terrorist prisoners overseas:

--(1) violates international treaties the U.S. has signed and verified, including Article 3 of the Convention Against Torture;

-- (2) undermines the moral authority of America in the eyes of the world; and

-- (3) ensures that American captives are likely to be tortured in the hands of our enemies, who will justify such actions by arguing that they are doing nothing more to our people than what our government is doing to those we have captured.

HEY!!! FUCKWIT!!!!!!  Listen up!!  1.) treaties we’ve signed deal with the treatment of prisoners in conventional warfare.  Terrorists don’t fight conventionally therefore they forfeit all rights.  2.) take your moral authority and shove it up your ass. 3.) We did not start chopping off heads and torturing soldiers.  They did.  And when it comes to the best interests of the US, as far as I am concerned, torture an terrorist until he dies.  I do not care because even if we gave them 4 star hotels and 5 meals a day, a goat and a camel to fuck, and 72 virgins they would STILL torture our soldiers and cut their heads off.  They are vermin and like vermin need to be EXTERMINATED.

So FUCK YOU, Congressman Markey!

Number two on the hit parade of more reasons to hate Democrats is this piece about how the Dems are not happy with the results of the abuse probe. I wrote about it here and mentioned how it’s gotten so little press coverage.

Of course, the ones who are pissed are those who:

“believe Rumsfeld should take blame for creating an environment in which mistreatment of prisoners might appear to be tolerated.”

Yet how much are you wanting to bet me that these same Senators would defend Orlando’s Mayor Buddy Dyer’s assertion that he was busy with his campaign and should not be held responsible for the “vote buying” that took place prior to elections last year?

Hypocritical, useless bastards.  All of them!

Well………Can We Or Can’t We?

Just like you have scientists who say there is global warming and those who say contrary-wise, so have we “experts” on oil pumping from OPEC.

We all know gas prices are high and getting higher (although not as high as they were in the late 70s/early 80s when adjusted for inflation and wages.)

For most of us the solution is simple:  PUMP MORE!!!

But an OPEC official says we are at max pumping capacity.

On the other hand, there are those who say OPEC can pump 2 MBPD more.

Hell, at $55 a barrel, I’d pump until the pumps burned out.  And that’s what those ragheads are doing---and getting filthy rich at it.

Everyone seems to think the prices are high due to speculation involving terrorist attacks on the supplies.  But think about how fucked up that logic is:  the oil is controlled, in most part, by raghead countries.  Raghead countries have been the prime sponsors of terrorism.  Raghead countries have done little to stem the threat of terrorist activity.  Is there a link between the last two sentences and the current price?  Reminds me of when those assholes tried to corner the silver market back.....when....the 70s?  There is no way any raghead, ass-in-the-air 5 times a day country will EVER do anything to stem terrorist activity because doing so will kill the goose that is laying their golden egg.

Meanwhile, back in the US, the enviro-wacko, granola munching, tree hugging, Birkenstock wearing, patchouli smelling, dope smoking, tofu eating crowd says we can’t drill.  Nor can we build new refineries.

You have to wonder, “given that we are at max refining capacity, what would happen if one of our refineries went down?  Or got attacked?”

I believe it is time to declare open season on environmentalists.

Ragheads Demand Prayer Time

This one really frosts my jaws.  Some workers at Dell walked off their jobs because they are demanding the company give them the right to “pray” and Dell will not accommodate them.

These fuckers are from Somalia and were hired through a temp agency.

Dell should just fire their asses.  Or better yet, hire some private investigators to see if these bastards are truly obedient sheetheads who pray at home, too.

Hell, if this keeps up the next thing you know someone will sue to have the right to sacrifice chickens on the plant floor.  Sheesh.

Hat Tip: Joe

An Opportunity For The Republicans

Maryland Republicans have an opportunity to do a great thing in 2006----elect a Republican Senator to replace Sarbanes who is retiring.  This move by Sarbanes was unexpected and if Republicans there play their cards right we may very well have a 60 seat Republican senate come January 2007.

Let us hope!

OBTW, the Dems are toying with Squeezy Perfumey as Sarbane’s replacement.

MEMO TO MARYLAND REPUBLICANS:  It’s time to start digging into Squeezy’s past.  This guy is a dirtball!

Killing The Rabbit

One of the stupidest things around insofar as holidays are concerned is the concept of a bloody rabbit and Easter.

No one has really explained to me how a rabbit who lays chocolate eggs (hey, a rabbit is a freakin’ mammal, fer chrissakes!) has anything to do with Jesus raising himself from the dead.  it’s a bad meld of paganism and Christianity.

But that’s beside the point.

In Florida, mall Nazis are taking down Easter Bunny displays so as not to offend anyone.  In an effort to display “diversity” they now have:

Baxter the Bunny, Peter Rabbit, and Garden Bunny

I think I am going to puke.

Hubble Bubble

This is the Helix Nebula, also called the “Eye Of God” nebula. Picture taken from the Hubble Space Telescope .... which will be dying soon thanks to funding cuts. What a shame .... we will no longer be able to look God in the eye.

Feb. 7, 2005 — The White House has released its 2006 (FY06) budget request. The request does not include any funding for a Hubble servicing mission. Next up, the House Science Committee will discuss NASA’s budget on Feb. 17. The White House’s budget request is posted at the Office of Management and Budget web site. NASA’s budget is posted here.

The portrait offers a dizzying look down what is actually a trillion-mile-long tunnel of glowing gases. The fluorescing tube is pointed nearly directly at Earth, so it looks more like a bubble than a cylinder. A forest of thousands of comet-like filaments, embedded along the inner rim of the nebula, points back toward the central star, which is a small, super-hot white dwarf.

Still think all this is an accident?

Help! They’re Going To Screw Up My Birthday Party!

FLASH ALERT: Sorry to interrupt your peaceful Sunday but we have a flash alert from the BMEWS Radar System. Pay attention, everyone! Next Saturday is my birthday (56) but the fucktards of the world are going to spoil my birthday party. It is also the second anniversary of the invasion of Iraq (I can never thank President Bush enough for that birthday present two years ago). The idiotarians on the left are planning on screwing up my birthday by acting like asshats once again. Here is the scoop ....

This message is for any Protest Warrior members and for anyone living in the vicinity of Fort Bragg or Fayetteville, North Carolina: be prepared on March 19 for a bunch of asinine asshats who are going to descend on the Army post to protest the war. Michael Moore is promoting this protest on his site. Here is the official web site for the protestors: it is called “The NC Peace & Justice Coalition”. On their site you can also read that they are having a concert with various second-string hip-hop artists who, no boubt, will be “singing” “screaming” so-called “songs” urging people to kill cops in America instead of terrorists in Iraq. Stoopid shit-fer-brains forons!

Look for the usual cast of characters (it’s too bad we can’t convince the Army to turn the “snake-eaters” loose on these creeps) ....

The Evil Beginnings Of Dan Rather

A very interesting piece in the current issue of the Weekly Standard caught my eye. It seems that Dan Rather has been an asshole for longer than many of you may have thought. It all goes back to 1963 and the Kennedy assassination ....

Wrong from the Beginning
From the March 14, 2005 issue of The Weekly Standard
Even in 1963, Dan Rather was a poor excuse for a newsman.
by Philip Chalk

When CBS Announced that it will smile through the pain of Dan Rather’s dying credibility with an hour-long retirement tribute in early March, the network released an image of a young Rather posing in front of the Texas School Book Depository, looking gravely into the distance. While a little nostalgia was understandable--what, no photo of Rather huddled over a fax machine last October?--CBS still managed to remind those who knew the anchor during his salad days in Texas how tendentious and unprincipled he was even then.

Eddie Barker, for one, remembers. The news director for CBS’s radio and TV affiliates in Dallas at the time of President Kennedy’s November 22, 1963, assassination, Barker is widely credited with first reporting on the air that the president was dead, having received word through a doctor acquaintance directly from the hospital ER. Rather, then based in Dallas as a reporter for CBS’s national news broadcast and working out of Barker’s newsroom, later took credit for the scoop, Barker says. The error is repeated in historical accounts often enough to annoy the now-retired Barker, though he says the falsehood was later acknowledged by Rather.

It was a different lie--one delivered on national news, and at the expense of children--that caused Rather trouble at the time. As reporters from around the world descended on the Texas city, Rather went on the air with a local Methodist minister who made a stunning claim: Children at Dallas’s University Park Elementary School had cheered when told of the president’s death.

The tale was perfect for the moment, reinforcing the notion among distant media elites that Dallas was a reactionary “City of Hate.” It slyly played to a local audience, too: The school named was in upper-income University Park, one of two adjacent municipal enclaves that shared a school district and a reputation for fiercely protected, lily-white privilege. Finally, for the ambitious Rather--a native Texan and then a Dallas resident--the account represented the very sort of revealing, local dirt that the throngs of out-of-town competitors would have to work far harder to get.

Except that it wasn’t true, and Rather knew it, Barker says.

Approached earlier by the same minister with what was a second-hand account, Barker himself had run the story by the school’s principal and some teachers, all of whom denied it outright. Because of the shooting, which took place at 12:30 p.m., the principal had decided to close the school early, though without telling the students why. The children at the school--including three of Barker’s own--were merely happy to be going home early, he was told. There couldn’t have been any spontaneous cheering at the news of Kennedy’s murder, because no such news had been announced.

Undaunted, the dogged minister--"a very, very strong liberal and a very, very strong Kennedy supporter,” Barker says--moved on to Rather.

“Rather came to me, and I said, ‘My kids are in school there, and I checked it out, and there’s not a darn thing to it,’” says Barker. “He said, ‘Well, great--I’ll just forget it.’ But instead of forgetting it, he went out and did this gut job on Dallas and its conservatism,” with the preacher’s story at the center of his report.

With the discredited account likely to be challenged by the local affiliate’s editors before being fed to New York, Rather sidestepped a customary film-editing session with Barker and arranged to file the report live instead, Barker says. “And so here’s Dan with the preacher, telling this story about kids at UP cheering when told the president was dead.”

Livid at being lied to, Barker laid into Rather as soon as he returned to the newsroom, expelling the reporter and all his national-news colleagues from the building on the spot. “I said ‘Get the hell out of here--you and this whole damn bunch!’” he says.

Barker’s local TV and radio crews scrambled to arrange on-air interviews with teachers to rebut the story, but the lie had already traveled halfway around the world and would become an enduring part of JFK assassination lore. In the meantime, CBS was threatening to pull its affiliation with the two local stations for having given Rather and his colleagues the boot.

“The next day I let him back in,” Barker says. “But I wanted to make darn sure that he knew he couldn’t pull that kind of crap with me.”

While well-known in broadcast-news circles, the incident did nothing to slow Rather’s rise; his Kennedy coverage was decisive in his eventual move up to CBS’s New York headquarters. “You have to give him credit,” says Barker. “He’s a very aggressive guy.”

Aggressive to a fault, as the ignominious end of his four-plus decades at CBS makes plain. As Barker himself--a CBS newsman for most of his career—says, “Anybody who followed CBS’s coverage last year knows that they were doing a gut job on the president.”
