Sudden Weekend “Squalls” In Memphis

Saturday, a ”cat 2 chimpout”, a moderate spontaneous riot in Memphis where a mere two dozen black youths attack and beat several white people unconscious.

Late on Saturday night, a mob of black teens swarmed a Kroger grocery store in Memphis, Tennessee and proceeded to beat two store employees and one customer to the ground.

Police reported they had received a September 6 surveillance video showing the swarm of black teens pushing, punching and kicking the young store employees at the entrance to the store.

According to Memphis police, the group emerged from a restaurant in the same strip mall and immediately attacked a 25-year-old man as he left his car in the parking lot and headed for the grocery store.

Two grocery store employees ran to the man’s aide, and the black mob attacked them as well, brutally beating all three victims into unconsciousness.

Police report that the crowd of up to 20 teens were laughing and yelling “fan mob.”

All three victims were treated on the scene and refused transportation to the hospital.

Video taken by customers on the scene attest to the viciousness of the attack. It shows screaming, joking, laughing black members of the mob attacking and kicking a white Kroger employee lying immobile on the ground.

Memphis Police Department Director Toney Armstrong released a statement on Sunday morning, making no mention of a possible hate crime.

Sunday, a ”cat 4 chimpout”, a large spontaneous riot in Memphis where more than 100 teens - all of them black - attack mall shoppers.

THV11’s CBS affiliate WREG reported that three people are now recovering after a mob of teenagers ran through a busy shopping plaza, seemingly picking out customers and Kroger employees at random to attack.

A video of the incident has been shared with local news stations in the area and is quickly going viral. It shows a young adult lying still on the ground as others repeatedly kick him and stomp his head. Other are seen being chased or knocked to the ground.

WREG said a witness told the cameras that the three people injured were attacked indiscriminately--two victims were African American, and one victim was Caucasian.

The news station added that the brawl happened at the corner of Poplar Avenue and Highland Street.

I am not sure if this is the same race rioting mob; this may only be one incident, and the known size of the mob grew from Saturday to Sunday. However, there are Kroeger stores everywhere. It could be two riots. Certainly it is two different videos.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV)—A juvenile has been arrested in connection with an attack of three people at a Kroger in Memphis, Tennessee Saturday.

WREG reports the suspect’s age has not been released. He is charged with aggravated riot and acting in concert: to wit aggravated assault.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have arrested and charged three juveniles in connection with Saturday’s attack of three people in a Kroger parking lot.

A 15-year-old is charged with aggravated riot, and acting in concert: to wit aggravated assault.

According to Mayor Wharton, the teen was out on gun related charges at the time of the attack.

Wharton said the teen was not enrolled in school and his mother was previously charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A juvenile court judge ordered the teen held.

There was no parent at the teen’s hearing.

Police have said the suspect is the individual seen in witness video wearing a lime green shirt.

Another 16-year-old is also charged with aggravated riot, and acting in concert: to wit aggravated assault.

A 15-year-old and 17-year-old are also with aggravated riot.

Does anyone know if crossing state lines to riot and commit aggravated assault makes it a far more serious felony, like when someone crosses state lines during a kidnapping?
