NJ Dems put in motion plans to pad the vote

As Christie (R) leads Corzine (D) by 3+ points in Governor’s Race

Same old same old from the utterly corrupt Garden State. If we ever had strong voter ID here, Democrats would never win a race.

Democrats Ask New Jersey Secretary of State to Ignore Mismatched Signatures on Absentee-Ballot Requests

The state received about 150,000 absentee-ballot applications this year.

On about 2,300 of those applications so far, the signature on the request form does not match the signature on the voter’s registration forms with the state.

In a development that is depressingly predictable, the New Jersey Democratic party is asking the state to provide provisional ballots for all these voters. Those ballots could, presumably, be used to overcome any narrow lead by Republican Chris Christie over Democrat Jon Corzine on Election Day.

A mass distribution of provisional ballots, at the request of a political party, would represent a significant change from established law. Currently, when a county clerk rejects an absentee-ballot request, the clerk tries to contact the voter — through mail, by phone, and in some cases, by attempting to contact the voter in person. And a person who has spoken to some of New Jersey’s county clerks says they’re granting wide latitude on signature styles; for them to reject a ballot request because of the signature, it has to be dramatically different from the one on file.

Paul P. Josephson, a lawyer representing the New Jersey Democratic State Committee, wrote to Secretary of State Nina Mitchell Wells, asking her to “instruct County Clerks not to deny (vote by mail) applications on the basis of signature comparison alone.”

Funny thing though - signature matching is the ONLY means of validation used in this state.

Suspicious minds see the letter as an attempt to create a pool of emergency votes to be used if Christie holds a small lead on Election Night. The Secretary of State has not yet responded to the Democrats’ request.

So Christie will have to win by 10% or more to even be seen to come out ahead. We don’t need no ACORN. Hell, New Jersey could give them lessons.

Heck, if things get really close, I can guarantee several boxes of ballots will turn up, late, that are amazingly atypically weighted in the Dems favor.

Screw all of it. It’s too late for this election - funny how the only time anybody ever voices a concern about voter fraud is just a couple of days ahead of the voting, yet the same allegations are made year after year after year and nothing is ever done - but in my opinion, the entire state voter registration database should be wiped clean the day after elections. And then everyone has to reregister. In person. With proof of citizenship, proof of residence, and several photo IDs. At least 90 days in advance. No provisional ballots at all. Rebuild the entire system from the ground up. With major penalties for people caught voting illegally. And no absentee voting AT ALL. In person, period. Can’t make it? That’s a damn shame. Too bad. Next?

You want trust in government? Start with clean elections. Then stop the patronage. Then start showing some fiscal accountability. Then some fiscal responsibility. Yeah, I’m dreaming. But until all of those things happen, and continue to happen for several years, then both sides of the aisle are lying crooks in my book.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
