No photos on the cake please and, what is your sexual orientation?

Not certain this early how much I’ll be able to post today but ran across these sign of the dumb times in the letters column of the paper this morning.

In more normal times if there ever was such an animal, I might have questioned these. Or else they might never have been written which is more likely.

But on seeing these I knew I had to post them.

With regard to the photo/cake. I might have to add it to yesterdays Moonbat of the year award as it surely is a tie between the two.
With each passing day I swear this place seems to be more moronic.  I can only hope I live long enuff to return to the USA, even if it would be for no more then just to die.

Incorrect answer?

SIR – My 16-year-old son has just returned from an interview for a summer job in a hotel.

He wasn’t asked about his ability to do the job, about punctuality, reliability, manners or anything which might contribute to his being an effective and pleasant team member.

However he was surprised to be asked to state his sexual orientation. His reply was “normal”. Politically incorrect?

Cake compliance

SIR – Last week my wife visited the Asda in Wolstanton to order a birthday cake for her father, who will be 90 on June 29. We wanted to have a photograph placed on the cake, showing him at the age of 14 – 76 years ago.

Because it appeared to have been professionally taken, the store would not accept the order on the grounds that it could possibly infringe copyright, unless we could produce the photographer’s death certificate, proving that copyright had lapsed.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
