It’s PHD Day!

Piled Higher and Deeper

In theory the contractor is coming tomorrow. I think he was back from Florida a couple days ago, the 27th, but he may have been delayed by that little hurricane thing. I haven’t heard from him since.

So in the mean time I’ll figure out some kind of “combat loading” plan and empty out the bathroom and the storage closet and pile it all up in the dining room, keeping the things we’ll need to the front. There’s going to be a huge pile of it. Although the storage room is only 30 sq ft, it’s packed to the ceiling an we can hardly get the door open.

And then I can get down to testing out some wood stain colors on some scrap wood. And, why not, may as well make another fat order to Home Depot for this and that.

It’s going to become REALLY crazy now.

Boxes and bags of stuff arriving left and right this weekend. Must have about 15 orders in. This is the valve that will run the hand held shower, and the lever that will turn it on and off. Love the look and feel of this design. Softened modern. This bathroom is going to be swank.

Thirty days hath September ... and this month flew by in about 2 weeks I swear.

Project Progress: A Minor Speed Bump. I hope.

Well, looks like I need to find another plumber. I’d called a local shop a few weeks back, looking for an estimate, but I didn’t think there was any rush as we didn’t have a contractor start date then. Now we do. Monday. And the tearing everything apart part is only going to take a couple days. Then some of the wiring, enough to put one of the lights in above the bathtub. Which means the ceiling there has to go in, which means the insulation has to go in first, 2x4s and perhaps lath needs to be purchased, and a plan developed for putting in the backer board. Turns out there are several ways to do that job. THEN the old tub enclosure can be chopped up and removed, and THEN the plumber can come in and do his stuff.

So why a new plumber? When I called that shop yesterday, the guy just about pitched a fit on me, because in his opinion I bought the wrong brand of shower parts. Pfister is total junk, a rip-off, nothing but trouble! I don’t have time for this! I got chewed out, or so it seemed. Well, the funny thing is, Pfister has all the same seals of approval as all the other brands, comes with a lifetime guarantee, and the knobs and trim we have seem to be of exceptional quality. So I don’t think I want somebody with that kind of attitude working in my place. Like, maybe he’ll do a poor job just to prove his point? I can’t say. Let’s just say I’m “not comfortable”. So time to look for somebody else.

Meanwhile, I ordered the diverter valves from Amazon. I had no idea that each faucet company specifies it’s own valves, but that’s how it is. So another expense, but not a giant one. And I ordered a bunch more bits for this and that, and it should all be here by the time the contractor is ready for the plumber. An I think I’ve figured out how to do the thermostat and the telephone in the kitchen, and where to safely run the power conduit for the radiant flooring if we decide to put a couple sheets of that in. I think we’re going to have to do that.

Nord Stream Pipeline Leak Was Sabotage Bomb. Did Biden Authorize This?

Tucker Carlson runs down some of the evidence. He’s either right - another out of control act by our out of control government - or he’s gone total Glenn Beck crackerdog.

No way Russia, Poland, or Germany would do this. And the methane pollution is massive. And Team Brandon has threatened to shut down Nord Stream “one way or another” several times.



Denmark reports seismic activity as explosions

Danish authorities reported the location of the Nord Stream 1 leak as northeast of the Baltic Sea island of Bornholm, and the Nord Stream 2 leak as southeast of the island. German media, quoting unnamed security officials, say it’s possible the leaks are a result of an act of sabotage, as it’s extremely rare for undersea, concrete-coated steel pipes to break on their own. Authorities have halted all shipping in the area around the leaks.

Lund says both the Swedish network and the Danish Seismic Network picked up the explosions on Monday. The first blast occurred at 2:03 a.m. Swedish time, and a second, larger explosion occurred at 7:04 p.m. “Preliminary estimates would say that this is at least equivalent to 100 kilograms of dynamite,” he says.

Lund says the seismic data was able to pinpoint the second blast to within just a few kilometers of the location the Swedish Maritime Authority gave as the site of the second leak. “We’re not spot on, but we’re fairly close to the area of the leakage,” he says.

Lund says there’s no natural event that could have created such unique seismic signatures less than 24 hours apart. “There’s nothing I could come up with that would produce this,” he says.

The explosions occurred just barely into international waters, in an area with a disputed Economic Exclusion Zone. So anybody could have been there, even “fishing”.


Tinfoil hat time, and a few off the wall musings

Holy shit. And it’s entirely likely as they are that insane and deluded. At least somebody should pop a little incendiary missile over it and burn off the methane.

The finger points to a government. One with plenty of money. To plant explosives at the relatively shallow bottom of the Baltic, divers might still need to wear exo-suits, as they’d be underwater for a very long time. We’re talking a couple million bucks per suit. Not to mention the support ships etc, plus access to waterproof explosives in large quantities and a secure means of setting them off remotely. This is not something the cartels or the jihadis can do, even if they have the money. The world of deep sea divers is pretty small. Somebody knows something, guaranteed.

These explosions occurred off the coast of Bornholm Island, in the not super deep part of the Baltic Sea, an area called the Bornholm Basin, where the water is about 60-90m deep. Call it 200-300 feet. So the exo-suits aren’t mandatory.

This is within the depth that commercial divers can do with scuba, although they will need considerable decompression time, even if they’re breathing heli-ox from their tanks ... and they’ll need a lot of tanks. It takes time to lay hundreds of pounds of explosives. OTOH, plastic explosives can be stronger than dynamite, so less would be needed to do the job. Using a dynamite equivalent metric is a bit silly in this day and age, especially as actual dynamite came in various strengths. The weaker stuff was much safer to use.

Are there smaller submarines that could do this task? Probably. Again, big bucks, and the unknown ones would be military, guaranteed. But again, they need surface support ships. Although if I was the evil genius behind it, I’d have a crappy old freighter built as a Q ship, modified to carry such a sub in a bomb bay in the hull. Maybe make it a large fishing trawler mother ship (Asian or Muzzie registry of course), which would not be noticed if it stayed in one small area for a couple days. Bring along some dhows and actually catch some fish.

This was a government sponsored operation. Period. And Tucker is right, Putin would be absolutely insane to have done this. But it’s not impossible that a pneumatic torpedo was inserted into the pipe from the Russian end.

Tucker mentions seismic recordings. Obviously Denmark has them, as do others, but I haven’t seen any graphs out there yet.

So that leaves us, Poland, Germany, or Sweden. And Sweden hasn’t had much to say about anything lately, so probably rule them out.

Oh, but there is SOME upside here. I think those pipes run across the dead zone too, east of Stockholm and west of Estonia. This is a layer of deep water hydrogen sulfide, a very poisonous gas. Black Sea has this too, especially in their dead zone, where there is so little oxygen and life in the water that ancient Greek shipwrecks litter the bottom in like-new condition. Had the bombs disrupted that layer, the gas cloud released could have killed millions if the wind was blowing from the East.

Now California Is Going After Furnaces: Newsom Bans Gas Heat After 2030

The Golden State just became the first in the nation to begin making fossil-fuel furnaces and heaters a thing of the past.

In its ongoing effort to slash ozone pollution, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) voted Thursday to ban the sale of new gas furnaces and water heaters beginning in 2030. Homes will be required to install zero-emissions alternatives, like electric heaters.

The vote is designed to meet EPA regulations limiting ozone in the atmosphere to 70 parts per billion. Much of California still exceeds that limit.

“We need to take every action we can to deliver on our commitments to protect public health from the adverse impacts of air pollution, and this strategy identifies how we can do just that,” said CARB Chair Liane Randolph.

The heaters requirement was met with comments from the public, including opposition. Retired engineer Michael Kapolnek said the saved emissions don’t justify the cost to homeowners forced into expensive retrofits, such as upgrading electrical service.

Groups such as the American Lung Association and the Sierra Club supported the move.

“This will reduce the building sector’s carbon footprint and improve public health. We also appreciate the commitment to equity-centered engagement and community input in all states of the process,” said Daniel Barad, senior policy advocate at Sierra Club California.

Now here’s a funny thing ... catalytic converters, like the ones on your car, will take nitrogen oxides out of the exhaust stream. With a two stage system, using an air pump just like cars do (good old “make up air” from outside), carbon oxides are burned down, and the system releases plain old nitrogen and carbon dioxide. Both of which are part of the atmosphere, and until not too many years ago, did not count as pollutants.

So I could easily see a retrofit system with an air pump, and perhaps even a heat recovery system ( think of a moonshine still’s condenser, but running backwards ).

But that isn’t good enough for California. CO2 BAD, even though it helps the plants grow. So don’t even look at this possibility, just ban fuel powered furnaces and hot water heaters, even those fired by natural gas, which is the cleanest burning combustible that is cost effective.

Oh, and California has no plans to increase their electric grid, which ( along with all the EVs they’ve demanded and now don’t want you to charge ), will be leached even further by mandating electric heaters.

I gather the only thing on earth that we have an infinite, renewable resource, supply of is stupid. You never hear of a shortage of that.



In a very similar vein, NPR prattles on about how gas stoves are BAD, because they increase the chances of childhood asthma by 20%. Of course, the obvious solution to that is right there in this article: use a range hood. But, oh noes!, the guy in the article only has a wall fan, way up high above the stove. Ok, in that case ... hey moron, install a hood for it.

PS - a proper range hood for any stove, especially a gas one, is at least 3” wider than the range on each side, and projects further forward than the common ones you now see. And to work best, it needs to flow quite a bit more than your typical range hood, somewhere up in the 600cfm or better range for a decent sized kitchen. And in many states, like here in the People’s Republic of New Jersey, that means our old friend make-up air needs to join the party.



Not to mention that there are also multi-stage and modulated gas furnaces; these work in a similar manner to multi-stage and continuously variable air conditioners. Both run on really low most of the time, and only ramp up when needed. For a gas furnace, this gets the efficiency up in the 96% or higher range, which not only saves you money, but pollutes less. These furnaces also have heat recovery built in. This is as good as it gets. And here’s an example of one.

But it’s still not good enough for the utopian dreamers in La-La Land.

Bowling Blogging!!

We got taken to the cleaners Friday on No Longer That Cheap league. 0-7. We had a bit of handicap, which means we needed to bowl over average to stand a chance of winning. We threw on average at best. OTOH, our opponents threw superbly, bowling well over average in nearly every game. Their anchor threw a 736 series as if it were nothing, which is a better series than I have ever thrown in my life. He has a 210 average or thereabouts, so he wasn’t really that much over. So we’re now 14-7 after the 3rd week of the season.

Busy with the project of course. As the new washer and dryer location upstairs is going to require a long duct for the dryer with several corners in it, I knew we’d need a booster fan in the ducting. So I did my research. And then more research. And finally found the one that actually works. It’s the Tjernlund LB2, the only booster on the market that 1) meets meets UL 705 DEDPV & IRC-2015 requirements, and 2) is guaranteed to not clog up with lint for 5 years. The last part is important, because the unit will be mounted up in the attic and will not be easy to get to, or to take apart for cleaning. It’s got a remote panel for the sensor, so you can see how it’s working, and will provided plenty of suction to pull air and lint down the pipe with ease.

The downside is that this one costs nearly double what the standard “propeller in a can” models cost, but I found it on Amazon at a discount price, and I had enough Prime Points to cut that price nearly in half.

The unit mounts to a stud with a hefty steel bracket, so it will provide good support for the vent pipes. Now I just have to spend a day up in the attic figuring out where to run the ducting. The shorter and straighter the better, but up under the truss there are all sorts of studs and chords running every which way. And it has to hook up to the current outside vent cap, which is probably 6 feet below where the duct will enter the attic, 25 feet away, and 5 feet over. So it’s going to be a challenge figuring things out. OTOH, I’m becoming an expert at fitting 10lb of sugar in a 5lb bag, so I’m confident.

If they’re that stupid, they own the fate that awaits them. Meanwhile China builds new coal fired generators all the time, India and Africa continue to burn anything that will catch fire, and none of them give a poopoo about carbon dioxide. Only the guilt-ridden, suicidal West.

So we won all 7 last night, but my team bowled rather poorly. Both our Petes weren’t there, so we got subs. And the subs bowled great!! So we won, and our team averages went down. Best of both worlds!

Dilbert Comic Being Cancelled By Corporate Wokesters

So it looks like the Dilbert comic strip is being cancelled. I don’t buy newspapers anymore, and I don’t work in cubicle world any longer so the relevance of Dilbert is over my horizon, and I’ve mostly forgotten it existed. But an awful lot of newspapers are owned by only a few companies, and they all play follow the leader, and at this point the comic has been cut from 77 papers. Expect many more to come, as management does some “subtle” restructuring of the all important funny pages. And Dilbert goes down the memory hole. And management lies to itself that they were only saving money. But we know better, and so does everyone who reads Dilbert or is one of the non-manager characters in Dilbert. Management always lies, and common sense and decency in the workplace is indecently uncommon.

But author Scott Adams is still just as sharp as ever, and has been snarking the heck out of diversity, trans-ism, and ESG ( the moronic but pervasive woke idea that Environment, Social, and Governance have any real meaning in a company atmosphere ). And we all know that the “tolerant” Left is anything but tolerant of anyone who isn’t them or makes fun of them. They have no sense of humor at all. Of course they don’t; if they could laugh at the absurdities shown in the Dilbert strips, they’d be forced to admit that their ideas and worldviews themselves are absurd. And the whole house of cards comes tumbling down.

So it’s easier to cancel a comic strip. “When you’re catching flack, it means you’re over the target”.  And now I’m back to reading Dilbert online. Still awesome all these years later.

•   I used to do News From The North posts, but gave that up years ago because it’s so boring up there. But here’s the latest from Jay Maine: The paper mill is closing next year. Jay is way up in the back of blueberry beyond, far up the Androscoggin River. And the paper mill employs most of the town. But they couldn’t compete if they couldn’t pollute, so buh bye. The Androscoggin River was once one of the most polluted rivers in the country, but has made a big comeback. Except for a couple stubborn polluters. And next year, one less.

When I was a kid and we’d go camping Up North, we’d drive through Joffrey New Hampshire, home to D.D. Bean and sons, maker of all the paper matches. It was also a massive pulp mill. The stench was gigantic. Still, paper has to come from somewhere.

And Away We Go! Almost

The new contractor says he can start on October 1st. So of course we have a big family event we have to go to, driving an hour each way and spending the whole afternoon and evening at it. So I’ll try for the 3rd.

And let the mayhem commence. This means I have to get hold of the plumber right now, to get an estimate and a scheduling.

And she’d better put down the “how to forage for food” videos and go pick some grout and some paint. And figure out the tiling for the shower niche.

And we’ll buy spackle and several gallons of primer. And I have to dig out the new bathtub and see if it needs the overflow end pipe, or if I bought a tub with a built-in overflow drain.

Finally, we’re making it happen.  Better talk with the contractor about waste disposal too. I can stack up old boards and drywall for a while, but at some point it will be time to get a dumpster delivered for a day. Any longer than that and the neighbors might dump stuff in it.

Not much new here on my end. I ordered the vent fan for the bathroom ceiling. It has a little LED light in it, and it has a speed adjustment so you can choose how much air it flows. The low setting is 30cfm more than the fan that’s there now, and the high setting is more than double the original. It’s one of those Whisper models from Panasonic, which means that it’s super quiet, lasts forever, and uses very little electricity. A bit of research showed me that we don’t need one of the high volume fans that use a 6” duct, so this one will hook up to the 4” duct that’s already there (in theory). Save a few bucks when you can!

Outside, we put down some gravel on the ground in the little nook off the end of the patio and moved the hose reel there. Then we came up with the idea to gravel over that whole little zone, the 3’ between the lower garden edge bricks and the foundation. This area is hard to see from even six feet away, an unusable area that does nothing other than grow weeds. So put down a strip of landscape mesh, a couple inches of gravel over that, and 3 or 4 stepping stone slabs over that. Make it look pretty, provide good drainage, and keep the weeds away. Without spending very much.

I’m sure there’s other exicting and/or upsetting news to report on, but not now. I have to remeasure everything in the kitchen for the cabinet guy, and I have to come up with a list of electric work for the contractor. Neither task is difficult, just time consuming.

My latest crazy idea: increase the power grid many times over before mandating everything going electric. Because you can’t use what isn’t there, and forcing people to switch before it’s available will only lead to suffering.

Governor Murphy’s Plan to Force Electrical Energy Will Break the Budget for Public Schools

And let’s cut through THAT bs right away. The schools won’t be bankrupted or budget-broken. Your taxes will merely increase dramatically.

In less than 90 days, the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is expected to enact new rules that could cost manufacturers, businesses, public schools, and apartment complexes millions of dollars to convert boiler systems to electric.

Senators Michael Testa and Anthony M. Bucco, Republican members of New Jersey’s bipartisan Legislative Manufacturing Caucus, warned that the impact will be felt across the state in the form of higher product costs and skyrocketing energy bills.

“This will be nothing short of a man-made economic disaster,” said Testa (R-1). “As usual, the Murphy Administration is diving in without considering the ramifications or the costs. This all is happening too quickly and without the proper diligence.”

The rule change, set to take effect in December, marks the beginning of the Murphy Administration’s electrification of the state under its Energy Master Plan.

“This is going to tear through the state economy like a bulldozer through a cornfield,” said Bucco (R-25). “Murphy wants to eradicate natural gas and fuel oil, and he doesn’t care how much it costs or who it hurts. The financial impact of this initial step alone is jaw-dropping. Costs could reach $2 million or more to replace boilers in some structures targeted by the new rule.”

This week, a coalition of more than 30 business and labor organizations rallied in Trenton in opposition to the changes.

In a letter to Legislative leaders, the groups said: “There are approximately 1,500 apartment buildings, 1,500 K-12 public schools, 1,200 commercial, industrial and manufacturing facilities, 195 county government buildings and 143 auto body shops, as well as grocery stores and religious facilities, affected by the proposal.”

“Everybody is going to get hit by everything from higher grocery bills, property taxes and rent payments, but I am especially concerned about what this does to New Jersey’s crucial manufacturing segment,” said Testa, the co-chair of the Legislative Manufacturing Caucus. “A multi-million investment to replace a perfectly functional boiler system could put companies out of business and workers out of jobs.

We have an abundance of fuel oil and natural gas. We’ve got lots of propane too, not to mention coal. Natural gas is about as clean a form of combustion derived energy as it gets, other than burning straight hydrogen and oxygen. Nuclear generation beats them all of course, not polluting at all. Geothermal as well, although the costs for that are extraordinary and I’m not sure that it can be implemented everywhere.

And yet the stupid is neverending.

My point is, just like the benighted smugness that claims electric cars are the way forward, an all-electric society also has to get the electricity from somewhere. Solar is a sham. Wind is an even greater sham. Neither one is anywhere near cost effective even with massive government subsidies. And yet, all the Left does is make demands, without creating the resources. To go all-electric, NJ would need about 25 new full size nuclear reactors and 10 times more transmission lines. This would cost trillions and trillions, even if you did it without unions, corruption, or waste, and followed every red cent.

Oh yeah, the good old blog. As you can guess, I’ve been pretty busy. Got the mistakes from the big order straightened out, have to check my account online to make sure the credits went through. Have to order a damper from Amazon as Lowe’s can’t get them.

Met with the cabinet guy again. I really don’t like people telling me I’m wrong with an approach if they can’t think outside of the box. So sorry, I got a little testy and impatient. I do my absolute best to make myself clear, but I suppose I should use a different approach sometimes. Whatever. So now I have to remeasure the entire kitchen yet again, update the drawings, take apart the closet so I can get up in the attic, take pictures of everything that matters, see where some wires run, so on and so forth.

I’m once again at wit’s end. While I’m buying thousands of dollars worth of materials, spending hours and hours calculating and measuring and pouring through specification books, she’s dreaming up yet another kitchen design. This is not helping. And I’m fucking sick of it. And I’m tired of being tired, tired of being cranky, tired of all of it. For the 5th time at least, I don’t want to play anymore. I just want to walk away from all of it, forever. But I won’t, because I’m the one doing all the work, and I’m the one fronting all the money. Every last cent spent so far.

I want some Xanax or Prozac or something. Not that I’ve ever had any psych meds before in my life. Counseling. Whatever. Numb my soul for awhile so I don’t get so worked up over things. Or maybe I just need to take a few days off from it. Yesterday was another day where the entire day, from morning coffee to bedtime was spent on this thing. It’s all I do. It’s all I’ve done every damn day for 5 months, maybe even 2 years. I need to step away for a bit. But I can’t. The real phase is just about to begin. And I feel like the entire burden is on my shoulders.

We won 7-0 for the second week in a row. And we the manager team. But they rolled poorly, and our new teammates came through, and we pulled it off. We won the last game by 3 pins, so that was a real nail biter.

People aged under 50 are generally not at particularly higher risk of becoming severely ill from covid-19. In addition, younger people aged under 50 are well protected against becoming severely ill from covid-19, as a very large number of them have already been vaccinated and have previously been infected with covid-19, and there is consequently good immunity among this part of the population.

Not a lot from me right now. It may have stopped raining. Maybe. We had a very wet Spring then a very very dry Summer, and now The Wet has returned again. After several days of drippy drippy drip, the clouds wrung themselves out last night and dropped nearly 2” on us. But it’s still cool and highly overcast, so there may be more in the offing.

It’s that “mystery noise” time of year for us. Which actually means the walnuts are falling off the toilet-tree that overhangs our patio and roof. Mr. Squirrel running around up there having a nosh only makes matters worse. That tree was marked for removal 10 weeks ago, but it hasn’t come down yet. And at the condo association’s monthly meeting last night, where the dead tree removal project came up. So ours is slated for removal, but the far larger tree behind it, down in the bottom of the soggy gully, has been nearly killed by Virginia Creeper vines for years (some of the vines are 6” thick and several stories high at this point), and if that tree falls it could cause a lot of damage. But it would be a difficult, manual felling and removal, so the price is 5 times higher. So that got put aside for further discussion, but my hope is that the toilet-tree will soon come down.



We’ve (once again) finalized a plan for the kitchen cabinets. We have to make the best of a bad situation, get something that works, and looks nice, and is well made, and is a good value or at least a reasonable price. That’s a challenge. But I think we’re there, getting as much of all of that as we can, plus high degrees of symmetry, the magical “matchy-matchy” that appeals to women. The alcove cabinets are the same height as all the other ones on the other side. The slider wall cabinets on both sides are the same size. All the cabinets on the walls edge align with the cabinets beneath them, and on the short wall around the stove it’s practically bookended. And even better, the cabinets are big enough to be useful. No blind corner base, no space wasted with fillers, no 3”, 6”, or even 9” cabinets, all of which are too small to do much good. And the price is moderate. OK, it’s expensive as hell, but our HD is running a 40% discount until the end of the year, and once you order them Kraftmaid contacts you and you pick a build and delivery date. Which is going to be a while ... like Spring. Probably not the greatest idea to have no walls or ceiling in the kitchen in the dead of winter.

9/11 Once Again

I will not forget. I will not forgive. And I will never ever submit.

It isn’t community service day. It isn’t really Patriots Day. It’s Remember Who Your True Enemies Are Day, and recall that they have been our enemies since the beginning of this nation. They were the Barbary Pirates, for whom the Navy was created to fight.

I don’t need to post pictures. You’ve seen them all a million times in the 21 years since. An entire generation has been born, grown up, and graduated college since then, and has no idea. But a few of them, and a lot of their older brothers and sisters, answered the call and went into harm’s way for a damn long time over this, while our worthless spineless politicians dicked about and threw most of it away. Pity we have so few 103rd floor window opportunities for defenestration.

Recall also how our government has usurped your rights and freedoms ever since, and now spies on you everywhere you go, every page you visit online, and every phone call you make. And don’t even go there with the shoes and TSA. Worthless ever since Day 1.

Bowling Blogging !!

Last night was opening night for Cheap League, which is no longer really cheap as prices have gone up.  It was a thin night, with about half the league being absent. A lot of people, especially those with no kids in the house, take vacations right after Labor Day and Back To School. No crowds anywhere, and the weather is still pretty good, but not so damn hot.  So most of them pre-bowled, and the rest of us were not even slightly crowded. Looks like the league will have 13 teams again this year, which means a BYE match every week. Fine by me, that’s a chance for some easy points.

So wifely and I played Rick and Tracey’s team. We’ve known them forever and get along pretty well. Half their team had pre-bowled, and half our team had as well. We lost the D’s, the new bowler couple who had rolled with us for several years, never really tried to learn the sport, and now claim their new work hours won’t let them make it. Whatever. So we got a new couple, who are long time league bowlers in some other league. And they weren’t there either, but they pre-bowled perfectly ... both were right on average for the night, without much variation game to game. So they neither helped nor hurt, but at least we didn’t have to take an absentee penalty for them. So it was just the 4 of us in a half full alley. This also means that the lane oil isn’t going to break down all that much since only half as many people are rolling on it. So we bowled at a relaxed pace, had fun with R and T, and even showed up with clean balls.

And wifely and I both bowled real well, and we won all 7. Nice start to a new season. She went 167 170 217 for a 554, coming in 22 over average. Well done! I threw a 645 series with a 245 in Game 2, so I was 32 over average. Outstanding. I opened the 245 game with 6 strikes in a row, then doubly messed up by throwing a 9 in the 7th and missing the spare by a zillionth of an inch. But then I went back to making more strikes, but I just missed making a 250 game. Oh well. I’m thrilled to chuck a 245.

Bowling Blogging!! (with a related small project update)

We got managed by one of the top teams last night, and lost every game by just a little. We all bowled poorly, so our opponents didn’t have to try too hard to defeat us. And call me Mr. Naive or Peter Pollyanna for expecting things to have changed on my team. The one guy keeps coming in late, showing up in the 4th frame of the first game, which is a frame past the point in the rules that says “too late, you can’t bowl in this game” but so far folks have let him bowl anyway. Sooner or later our weekly opponents are going to say no, as is their right. I don’t like when people take advantage of other’s goodwill. The other guy shows up partway through practice and barely has time to throw two or three balls before competition starts. And then he bowls poorly, often below his average which is one of the lowest on the league. He throws so many gutter balls that we have a whiteboard chart for our team, tracking gutters and hangings for all of us. I threw one last night myself, missing a 10 pin spare to the right.  So I threw a lousy 149, an ok 189, and something in the 170s, probably barely making a 500 series. I say probably because by the end of the night I was tired and hungry, so I finished up and left. I was cranky when I got home until I cooked something and ate it.

I have to battle depression or despondence over this renovation project anyway, because I’m worried that we’ve bitten off far more than we can chew. But the truth is that, as long as we can live tight, surrounded by mountains of boxes, the job can get done no matter how long it takes. So make as much space as possible. Thin out the other crap in our lives. We have far too many possessions and we have to dump them ruthlessly. I mean, imagine being able to actually put a vehicle in our garage? Wow. It’s going to happen, one way or another. Contractor or not.

Mass Stabber Myles Sanderson Is Dead



Suffering from earlier wounds, Sanderson broke into a widow’s house and stole her truck. She was not injured or abducted, and managed to call the police. They ran the truck down and arrested him, and he died of those wounds shortly thereafter.



The main suspect in the recent stabbing rampage in Saskatchewan died Wednesday afternoon shortly after police captured him.

Myles Sanderson went into medical distress after he was arrested, and was pronounced dead at a hospital in Saskatoon, Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan RCMP, told a news conference Wednesday night.

Sanderson was arrested near Rosthern, Sask., at about 3:30 p.m. CST, according to RCMP, shortly after it issued an alert that a person with a knife was travelling in a vehicle, last seen in Wakaw, about 90 kilometres northeast of Saskatoon.

Blackmore said the RCMP doesn’t have a motive for the attacks that left 11 dead and many more injured. “Now that Myles is deceased we may never have an understanding of that motivation,” she said.

She expressed relief that Sanderson is no longer on the run. “This evening our province is breathing a collective sigh of relief.”

CBC News spoke with a man who says Sanderson broke into his mother’s rural property, about 30 kilometres northeast of Wakaw, around 2 p.m. CST.

CBC has agreed not to name the woman or her son because she was the victim of an alleged crime. The woman is extremely shaken up by what happened, according to her son.

The son said his mother, a widow, saw Sanderson walk up to the front door, which was locked, and ran into the bathroom in her bedroom, locking both the bedroom and bathroom doors.

She had her cellphone and was trying to call police when Sanderson smashed the front, bedroom and bathroom doors. The son said Sanderson was armed with a knife, but told the woman that he wouldn’t hurt her.

Sanderson took the keys to the woman’s truck, along with her cellphone, cigarettes, water and a Pepsi, the son said. Sanderson asked the woman to go with him, according to her son, but she refused believing that he would kill her.

When Sanderson left the property, the woman called a relative using a landline who then called RCMP, the son said.



Good riddance.



Sanderson was a violent drunken scumbag for a long long time, repeated history of stabbings, and the mushy Canadian justice system kept letting him go.

Records reveal attempted murder of father-in-law, long history of assaulting his partner

The prime suspect in the recent mass stabbing in Saskatchewan tried to kill one of the victims seven years ago, court records reveal.

Those records say Myles Sanderson tried to kill his father-in-law, Earl Burns, in January 2015 by repeatedly stabbing him with a knife. He also assaulted another Burns family member. Sanderson was convicted and sentenced to two years less a day.

Burns, 66, was among the 10 people killed over the weekend, police said Wednesday, in the rampage in James Smith Cree Nation and nearby Weldon, Sask.

The court records say Sanderson was also convicted in 2018 for trying to stab two other men in the First Nation with a cheese knife.

They also show a long history of intimate partner violence charges and convictions. Sanderson was first charged with assault against his partner in 2011. That charge was eventually dropped.

A year later Sanderson was brought up on fresh assault charges for attacking her. He was convicted and handed 18 months probation and ordered to stay away from alcohol and drugs. He was also ordered to undergo counselling for anger management and domestic violence and to complete an addictions program.

He was charged again in 2013 for assaulting the same woman and stealing a car, after which he was handed another 18 months probation. Sanderson was once again ordered to stay away from alcohol and start addictions counselling.

New charges were laid against him for assaulting her again in 2015 and 2018.

The records show that time and again he was ordered to stay away from the woman, to get counselling, and even to write her an apology.

In November 2017 he was charged in Regina with both assaulting someone and possessing a sawed-off shotgun. He was also charged on the same day with robbing a restaurant.

He was found guilty of the assault and robbery but the weapons charge was dropped. Sanderson was sentenced to nine months and three years in federal prison, to be served concurrently.

It’s not clear why he was still free in June 2018 when he assaulted an RCMP officer at James Smith Cree Nation who was attempting to arrest him. He was sentenced to 569 days in prison to be served concurrently with his other sentences.

After serving two-thirds of that sentence he was eligible for statutory release in August 2021. By November his release was suspended when it emerged he lied about staying with his ex-partner, in breach of conditions.

But in February [2022] the Parole Board of Canada lifted that suspension.

“It is the Board’s opinion that you will not present an undue risk to society if released on statutory release and that your release will contribute to the protection of society by facilitating your reintegration into society as a law–abiding citizen,” the board said in its decision.

So this time he managed to not attack or rob anybody for a whole 6 months. 3 attempted murders, 5 spousal abuse convictions, 2 assault conviction, a dropped weapons charge, grand theft auto, robbery, lying to the parole board. And they let him go time after time. Canada, soft on crime.

New Mexico official removed from job, BANNED from holding public office
Because he was part of Jan 6 “Insurrection”

He didn’t riot. He didn’t get violent. He didn’t break or steal anything. He didn’t even enter the Capital. He was on the steps. Outside. Of The People’s House. Gathering for redress of grievances, just like the 1st Amendment says he can.

State District Court Judge Francis Mathew issued a ruling Tuesday that permanently prohibits Griffin from holding or seeking local or federal office.

Griffin was previously convicted in federal court of a misdemeanor for entering Capitol grounds on Jan. 6, without going inside the building. He was sentenced to 14 days and given credit for time served.

The new ruling immediately removes Griffin from his position as a commissioner in Otero County in southern New Mexico. He also is barred from serving as a presidential elector.

“Mr. Griffin aided the insurrection even though he did not personally engage in violence,” Mathew wrote. “By joining the mob and trespassing on restricted Capitol grounds, Mr. Griffin contributed to delaying Congress’s election-certification proceedings.”

Griffin, who served as his own legal counsel at a two-day bench trial in August, called the ruling a “total disgrace” that disenfranchises his constituents in Otero County.

“The actions that are being taken are, I believe, perfect evidence of the tyranny that we’re right now living under,” Griffin said. “The left continues to speak about democracy being under attack, but is this democracy? Whenever you’re removed from office by the civil courts by the opinion of a liberal judge.”

The ruling arrives amid a flurry of similar lawsuits around the country seeking to punish politicians who took part in Jan. 6 under provisions of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which holds that anyone who has taken an oath to uphold the Constitution can be barred from office for engaging in insurrection or rebellion.

This is the first time in over 100 years that this provision has been carried out. They recently tried this BS on Marjorie Taylor Greene but that case fell apart. This one didn’t. He stood on the steps of a public building. It’s on video. That’s now a crime?

With the motive for the attacks still unclear, or at least undisclosed, attention was fixed Tuesday on the surviving Sanderson brother — and more precisely on how he had managed to make his way back onto the street despite a long history of crime, much of it violent. In May, his image could be seen on a Crime Stoppers wanted poster.

It was just months earlier that Mr. Sanderson had been granted his freedom.

With 59 convictions for crimes that included aggravated assault, drunken driving and failing 28 times to comply with his bail conditions, he went before a Canadian parole board requesting to be released early from prison. At the time, he was serving a sentence of more than four years for assault with a weapon, assaulting an officer and robbery, among other crimes.

His parole officer argued against early release, pointing to Mr. Sanderson’s history of “deceit.” But in February, the parole board decided to release him, saying he “appeared to have been making good progress on reintegration,” citing his sobriety and efforts at anger management.

Indigenous Brothers Go On Stabbing Spree In Canada: 10 Dead, 15 Wounded

Two men suspected of killing 10 people in a stabbing rampage that devastated an indigenous community in Canada were at large on Monday as authorities tried to determine a motive for attacks that shocked a nation where mass violence is rare.

Police launched a manhunt for Damien Sanderson, 31, and Myles Sanderson, 30, after they allegedly stabbed people in 13 different areas across an indigenous community and its surrounding province on Sunday. At least 15 others were wounded.

The attacks in Saskatchewan province were among the deadliest in Canada’s modern history. A statement by indigenous leaders indicated they may have been drug related. Police said some of the victims appeared to have been targeted, while others were apparently random.

Police are expected to provide an update at 12:30 p.m. EDT (1630 GMT). The suspects were last seen traveling in a black Nissan Rogue and spotted on Sunday in the city of Regina, about 320 km (200 miles) south of the attacks in the James Smith Cree Nation and the village of Weldon, police said.

In an update on Monday morning, police said the suspects were still at large and urged residents to call authorities if they had information that could help in tracking the two men.

We certainly hope these two monsters are caught, arrested, and punished. And not to make light of the horror of the situation, but I was told repeatedly by the self-righteous gun control left that mass killings only happen in the United States. I was also told repeatedly that guns are the real problem and, more specifically, that all law-abiding “assault gun” owners are the cause of all mass killings. [ not to mention that ALL mass killings are done by white guys ] As we on the right knew, that’s not the case at all. Criminals and crazies do not follow the law and will kill no matter what the left pretends. The question is, will the left ever admit it?

The James Smith Cree Nation reservation is roughly 286 miles north of the three points Canadian border between eastern Montana and western North Dakota. It’s in the middle of the permafrost bog zone. Looks like there’s a large open pit quarry south of town, and about 75 buildings and homes in the town. There are two other population “centers” on their lands. The JSCN has declared a state of emergency.


UPDATE: One Suspect Dead, One Still On The Run

Canadian police on Monday found one of the suspects in a mass stabbing spree dead while the other suspect, his brother, was still on the run and may be injured, officials said.

The brother still at large, Myles Sanderson, 30, “may have sustained injuries” and could be seeking medical attention, said Rhonda Blackmore, commanding officer of the Saskatchewan Royal Canadian Mounted Police, at a news conference.

With the death of one Sanderson brother and the injury to the other, the casualty count now stood at 11 dead and 19 injured, Blackmore said.

“We can confirm he has visible injuries. These injuries are not believed to be self-inflicted at this point,” Blackmore said without specifying what caused the injuries.

Asked if Myles Sanderson was suspected of also killing his brother, Blackmore said, “It is an investigative avenue that we are following up on but we can’t say that definitively.”

So if Myles didn’t injure himself, then whodunnit?

Yet another project update

Still trying to spend lots of money, still having a hard time getting people to take it.

Get the same, spend less. Spend the same, get lots more?

Spent another afternoon with a kitchen cabinet salesman, at the other other Big Orange box store in the vicinity. Nice guy, but a bit pushy. Came home and found 8 mistakes on his bid; either missing things I wanted or putting things in there I didn’t want. WTF.

So anyway, only reason I drove 40 minutes to the other end of the next county up to see him, was that - 8 weeks waiting for the local guy to give me numbers - HD sends me an email the other day “make an appointment with any of our cabinet team, any store, and come out with a quote in 90 minutes.” Hell yeah, I’m biting on that. So I drive way up there, meet with the guy for almost 3 hours, and come home. I was just about the only customer in the store on a Friday afternoon, and there was nobody even looking at cabinets, washers, etc. in the spendy end of the store.

So of course I get home, check my email, and the local guy has been working on my stuff finally, and has an AMAZING price ... because his HD is running a 40% off special, which beats the standard 30% discount, and beats Big Blue Box’s 30% + another 5% if I put in on their charge card.

So I write back, let’s take a deep look, lets run a few prices for options, give me some design advice. And get back, he’ll write me when he’s back at work ( which is Tuesday usually ). Hey, so long as the sale is still on. And this gives me time to map out the trim molding amount, figuring the miters, assuming some wastage. And when wifely gets back from the beach ( also Tuesday, maybe?) we can decide whether to have a slightly shorter run, save a few bucks, and not have to nibble the doorway molding, or to cram in as much as we can on that short wall, nibble the molding quite a bit, and go for a couple of the options. Come on, other than a spice rack pull-out, what else can you do with a 6” wide wall cabinet right next to the stove? Or should we go small, stick in a 3” filler box, and stick a pretty panel on front, and thus not have to trim the molding at all.

It was going to be the 3” approach, but 40% adds up to a LOT of money. Even upgrading $400 only puts a dent in the price difference between 40% and 30%.

I also met the Kraftmaid field rep. Nice guy. He explained the whole order timing thing and agreed to pass on my awareness that the end panel upgrade was a con (it’s the same bit of plywood on every base cabinet, whether it’s a $200 box or a $3000 box. Charge a fixed price, not an extra 35%. $70 vs $1000 for the same board? I don’t think so Timmy.), but wasn’t expecting upper management to act on my observation.

And this time, one of these cabinet order clowns had better get my order right. Getting tired of that.

I forced myself to watch this thing live. Then after a loud rant and a stiff Manhattan, I watched the video. It wasn’t any better the second time around.

He is insane. He is evil. He is stupid beyond belief. He is a massive liar and projectionist, although that’s been known for a really long time. Yes Joe, the soul of the nation really is at stake. And you and your cronies are leading the charge of it’s destruction.

This is not a President. This is not even a tyrant or a dictator. He is a thug. A low life lying criminal with violent tendencies.  Just days after labeling half the nation “semi-fascists” he went full Mussolini”. Never go full Mussolini.  Thankfully, a whole lot of people smelled the stink of crazy and spoke up.

This was the most hateful speech ever given by an American President. And probably one of the more hateful speeches given by any American ever, perhaps only eclipsed by rants from the Klan back in the long ago.

He honestly feels that HALF THE NATION are enemies who should at the very least be silenced, and deserve whatever comes their way, including violence.

And here, in my view, is what is true: MAGA Republicans do not respect the Constitution. They do not believe in the rule of law. They do not recognize the will of the people. 80 million voters considered themselves MAGA Republicans a year and a half ago. And I’m going to touch January 6th. I saw the “come dress MAGA and infiltrate” posters the left put up. I saw video of the buses of them arriving. In videos I saw the Capital Police open the massive doors to the building and let people in and lead them around. I watched Ashly Babbit, surrounded by heavily armed LEOs, get murdered in cold blood. I saw all the false players, right down to the (probably) FBI agent who planted the “bomb” at DNC hq. If you can’t spot a false flag op at this point, then you are blind and senile.

The “hero” of “unity” is trying to provoke widespread violence. He wants to start a civil war. So expect several blatant false flag ops to go off in the next week or three.

You, who believed in the Tea Party, that limited government, reasonable taxation, and controlled intelligent spending are how the government should be. You, who believe that the USA should take care of the USA before taking care of the rest of the world. You, who believe in secure borders, sound immigration policy, actual equality under the law, a sound and self-sufficient energy policy, who can see that the government is out of control and utterly corrupt and that the media is their running dog, you who cherish freedom, family, God, life, honest work and reward, are against crime, and want the free exercise of your basic rights, you who revere our Constitution and the basic tenets of civilization developed across thousands of years ... who saw a kindred spirit in Donald Trump’s worldview even though you realized he’s a typical loudmouth bombastic New Yorker, and knew he could stem the tide at least a little ...

Science: New Concerns About New Jabs

Omicron booster shots are coming—with lots of questions

31 August, 1:30 p.m.: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced today it has granted an emergency use authorization for Moderna’s and Pfizer-BioNTech’s updated booster vaccines, which target the BA.4/BA.5 coronavirus subvariants.

For the BA.4/BA.5 boosters, the companies have submitted animal data. They have not released those data publicly, although at the June FDA meeting, Pfizer presented preliminary findings in eight mice given BA.4/BA.5 vaccines as their third dose. Compared with the mice that received the original vaccine as a booster, the animals showed an increased response to all Omicron variants tested: BA.1, BA.2, BA.2.12.1, BA.4, and BA.5.

They found that the biggest effect came from administering any booster: On average, an additional dose of a vaccine coding for the ancestral virus’ spike protein resulted in an 11-fold increase in neutralizing antibodies against all variants. But strain-specific vaccines improved things slightly. Recipients of updated vaccines had, on average, antibody levels 1.5 times higher than those who received an ancestral strain vaccine. Even if the vaccine didn’t exactly match the viral strain, there was still some benefit.

The companies say clinical trials for the BA.4/BA.5 vaccines will begin next month; they need clinical data both for full approval of the vaccines—their recent submissions are only for emergency use authorization—and to help develop future updates. Presumably they will measure recipients’ antibody levels, but not the vaccine’s efficacy against infection or severe disease. Such trials are very expensive and were not done for the BA.1 shot either.

Plenty of other info at the link, but that’s the nutshell. Government just purchased 171 million doses of the stuff, and so far it’s only been test on 8 mice. Clinical trials won’t even start until next month, but line up to get your boosters now!

The booster is a mix of the original blend, with all the side effects, plus the new blend, with unknown side effects. Even though the original was targeted to work against the long gone original WuFlu, the argument is that the next variant could somehow be magically retro-based on that original, and not the 28,000 variants that have shown up since then. After all, this is what happened when Omicron showed up ... IMO it took that long to create it in a lab.

Just say NO.

Bowling Blogging!!

Oh boy, what a night. First night of Old Guys league. Dues went up a bit, USBC fee went up $2. We played one of the hard core teams last night; they’d finished in 2nd or 3rd last year and they almost always finish in the top 5. Our bowling was all over the map, mine included. I was king of the 9s in the first game, couldn’t quite get the strike, left a lot of 10 pins, and kept throwing to the inside and missing most of the spares. So I scored a 139, and we lost that game. I found the lines in Game 2, marked every frame, got a lot of strikes, and rolled a 238. We won that game. Land conditions were changing rapidly, starting out with heavy but short oil, and degrading to long and light as the balls pushed the oil down the lane. So my hot lines died, although I was connecting on my 10 pin spares. Came up with a 166 for that game, which we lost by 11 pins. We lost total wood by 3. At least I didn’t totally screw the pooch like teammate P1 did, throwing gutter balls all over the place, and coming in with a 98. A 98. 45 pins below his already pathetic average. Oh well.

I learned of a simple way to allocate the prize money, an obvious method I’d never realized. $X per point won. For any scoring system, or any number of weeks the league runs, or any number of teams, a total number of points awarded is known. Take the total prize fund and divide it by that number, and you get money per point. A team that wins by a landslide gets more than a team that just squeaks into 1st for the season. It’s a system that’s directly proportional to your team’s success, and that’s as fair as it’s going to get.

Are you out of your freakin mind??

FDA Approves BA5 Bivalent Covid Booster for mass human use.
It was NOT tested on any people at all, only on eight mice. Get yours now!!

Today, the FDA approved “Bivalent Ba.5 Booster” because of an unspecified “emergency”. The booster was tested on, drumroll, 8 mice. That’s it. It will be given to millions of people next week.

How is approving a completely untested product, not medical quackery?

The FDA also refused to convene even its own “expert committee” known as the VRBPAC. The committee, comprised of FDA stooges, approved the craziest things before — but some members of it, like Paul Offit, sounded their opposition to the Ba5 plan.

So, to make sure that the public is certain that these boosters are “safe and effective”, the FDA decided against convening VRBPAC — to prevent Offit from expressing his opinion.

Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration amended the emergency use authorizations (EUAs) of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine and the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine to authorize bivalent formulations of the vaccines for use as a single booster dose at least two months following primary or booster vaccination. The bivalent vaccines, which we will also refer to as “updated boosters,” contain two messenger RNA (mRNA) components of SARS-CoV-2 virus, one of the original strain of SARS-CoV-2 and the other one in common between the BA.4 and BA.5 lineages of the omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2.

The Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent, is authorized for use as a single booster dose in individuals 18 years of age and older. The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent, is authorized for use as a single booster dose in individuals 12 years of age and older.


Somehow they forget to mention anything about their lack of testing or oversight in this press release.

But never fear, our stalwart media is on the job!!


The updated Covid vaccine boosters, a reformulated version targeting the BA.5 omicron subvariant, could be available around Labor Day. They’ll be the first Covid shots distributed without results from human trials. Does that matter?

Because the Biden administration has pushed for a fall booster campaign to begin in September, the mRNA vaccine-makers Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna have only had time to test the reformulated shots in mice, not people. That means the Food and Drug Administration is relying on the mice trial data — plus human trial results from a similar vaccine that targets the original omicron strain, called BA.1 — to evaluate the new shots, according to a recent tweet from the FDA commissioner, Dr. Robert Califf.

That could be a potentially risky bet, experts say, if the shots don’t work as well as hoped.

Does it matter? Gee, ya think?  Has any other vaccine or medicine EVER been allowed on the market that has not been tested on actual people?

We have decided against the quartzite countertop. We love it, but it’s just too high end for a condo like this. We could afford it, but we can’t justify it. We can get a nice looking granite one for the kitchen, plus a fancy remnant top for the bathroom vanity, plus a top rated stackable washer and dryer, plus a high quality extra tall sliding shower door for the same money. It’s just not worth it.

GORBY IS DEAD

Mikhail Gorbachev, 91

Mikhail Gorbachev, the leader of the Soviet Union whose attempts to shake up his country’s political and economic system led to the collapse of the Communist superpower and the end of the Cold War, has died. He was 91.

The Interfax and state-run Tass news services cited the Moscow hospital where Gorbachev died. The Central Clinical Hospital said his death followed “a severe and prolonged illness,” according to Tass.

No, he didn’t end the Cold War. He LOST the cold war.

And no, he didn’t bring down the Berlin Wall either.

The war was lost and the wall came down because the evil institution of Soviet communism finally rotted away from the inside to the outside.

US President Ronald Reagan (PBUH) had a lot to do with that, pushing the Strategic Defense Initiative ("Star Wars") which the Sovs couldn’t match, steal, or afford, and which ended a huge amount of the nuclear fear the world had had since the early 50s. Not to mention the first Iraq War, which showed just how worthless Soviet armor really was, or that the Reds occupation of Afghanistan was a total failure with an infinite amount of war crimes. And hey, the Chernobyl disaster 2 years earlier didn’t help their street creds either. Unrest in many of the Warsaw Pact nations (look up peaceful revolution).

Gorbachev was the leader of the Soviet Union from 1985 until its collapse in December 1991. As general secretary and president, he helped forge weapons reduction deals with the U.S. and other Western powers and remove the Iron Curtain.

Though in power less than seven years, Gorbachev unleashed a breathtaking series of changes. But they quickly overtook him and resulted in the collapse of the authoritarian Soviet state, the freeing of Eastern European nations from Russian domination and the end of decades of East-West nuclear confrontation.

His decline was humiliating. His power hopelessly sapped by an attempted coup against him in August 1991, he spent his last months in office watching republic after republic declare independence until he resigned on Dec. 25, 1991. The Soviet Union wrote itself into oblivion a day later.

I will give old Splotch Head a little credit though. When he realized the writing was on the wall and that the Soviet paper tiger was folding into origami, he knew enough to back off.

Having initiated a policy of glasnost (openness) and emphasized the need for perestroika (economic restructuring), in July 1989, Gorbachev permitted the Warsaw Pact nations to initiate their own political and economic reforms within the terms of the treaty.

The policy of non-interference in Soviet Bloc countries’ internal affairs was made official with Gorbachev’s statement on 26 October 1989 that the “Soviet Union has no moral or political right to interfere in the affairs of its East European neighbors”.

His wife Raisa (my God I remember her name) was one of the only visible leader’s spouses in most of CCCP history. She was certainly noticeable, although having met many Russian girls in the years after, I realized her look was a very common genotype in that country. I still refer to that look as “Russian Girl #2”.
Raisa died of leukemia in 1999. I’d forgotten that.

Russians blamed him for the 1991 implosion of the Soviet Union — a once-fearsome superpower whose territory fractured into 15 separate nations. His former allies deserted him and made him a scapegoat for the country’s troubles.

“Mikhail Gorbachev is as much respected in the West as he is detested in Russia,” former Defense Intelligence Agency officer Rebekah Koffler told Fox News. “To Westerners, he brought openness and rebuilding (glasnost and perestroika), and for the Russians, he destroyed the USSR.”

They gave him the Nobel Peace Prize for that. For losing somewhat gracefully. Think of it as the first Participation Trophy.

One of the benefits of our universally computer driven modern world is package tracking. Mated with theoretically optimized routes and warehousing, we now can get our deliveries much faster than in decades past. For the impatient, most of the deliver services allow you track your boxes or letters step by step as they wend their way in your direction. [ OTOH, this also allows you to watch the Post Office send your stuff all over the country willy-nilly, leave it at distribution centers for days or weeks at a time, and sometimes take days to move something just 7 miles from one center to the next, and then take a full week to deliver it a whole 42 miles away. Sorry, my pet peeve, after recently pulling my hair out when a letter took more than a month to get delivered. Just wait until the whole country tries to vote by mail this November. Guaranteed disaster. ]

Now UPS has brought out “Follow Me”, a real time, self-updating, GPS driven mapping application, that let’s you see the big brown truck driving all over with your package in it. Not sure if this is going to help or hurt, because most people won’t realize that there are 300 other boxes in that truck, and yours is almost guaranteed to be last in line. It was already a bit frustrating just following the data, watching my box go from Florida to Edison NJ in hardly over a day, but then on to Allentown PA, right past my home, and then have to go on to another truck to come back to NJ days later and to get delivered ... later today?  Maybe. “Out for delivery” for 3 days? Oy vey.

Anyway, this is actress Kelsey Asbille Chow. She had a small but regular role in the One Tree Hill drama a few years back, and was in the 2017 film Wind River. Currently she has a supporting role on Paramount’s cowboy drama / Kevin Costner vehicle Yellowstone.

We watch Yellowstone, it’s great, and it’s interesting to see her character developing from a whiny liberal into someone more normal. That’s going to be long journey. She is super attractive though.

Funny, I kind of thought it was the President’s job to keep people aware of new possibilities and to give them even temporary hope. But the Left may be right on this one. Like the blind squirrel ...

Most Americans have been praying for a cure to the Chinese Communist Party virus. Such a prospect turns out to be horrifying, however, if you are a Deep State bureaucrat, someone invested in open-ended and lucrative research into unpromising medicines or vaccines and/or a political opponent of President Trump.

Hence the vehemently hostile response of a leftist publication called Axios to information about Oleandrin, a natural supplement that has proven in clinical experiments and limited human trials in Texas to crush the CCP virus. Rather than celebrate this development and call for an urgent effort to validate such findings with widespread, life-saving trials, Axios touted the uninformed criticisms of naysayers determined to snuff further work on this apparent breakthrough.

To the alarm of some government health officials, President Trump has expressed enthusiasm for the Food and Drug Administration to permit an extract from the oleander plant to be marketed as a dietary supplement or, alternatively, approved as a drug to cure COVID-19, despite lack of proof that it works.

Driving the news: The experimental botanical extract, oleandrin, was promoted to Trump during an Oval Office meeting in July. It’s embraced by Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson and MyPillow founder and CEO Mike Lindell, a big Trump backer, who recently took a financial stake in the company that develops the product.

Oleandrin is an extract from the oleander plant. Researchers have suggested that it could be useful to treat cancer because of the way it affects cells, and that it could enhance the effects of other cancer therapies.

Professor Sharon Lewin, the director of the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity at the University of Melbourne, is an international authority on antiviral drugs and has a laboratory working on COVID-19.
Asked about oleandrin’s potential efficacy as a COVID-19 treatment, Lewin told Axios, “Oleandrin looks to have antiviral activity at high doses in a test tube model. You’d certainly want to see more work done on this before even contemplating a human trial.”

A July 2020 study from the University of Texas at Galveston shows, in a laboratory setting, that oleandrin can inhibit the coronavirus in monkey kidney cells. This study has not been peer reviewed and one of the authors of the study, Robert Newman, is chairman of Phoenix Biotechnology’s scientific advisory board — the company developing the oleandrin product.

The bottom line: Scientists around the world are in a race for cures, treatments and vaccines for COVID-19. Government regulators are investigating hundreds of products. When a biotech executive like Whitney can take his case directly to the president, it casts doubt over the scientific rigor of the drug development process.

From the research study:

Using Vero cells, we found that prophylactic oleandrin administration at concentrations down to 0.05 μg/ml exhibited potent antiviral activity against SARS-CoV-2, with an 800 fold reduction in virus production, and a 0.1 μg/ml dose resulted in a greater than 3,000-fold reduction in infectious virus production. The EC50values were 11.98ng/ml when virus output was measured at 24 hours post-infection, and 7.07ng/ml measured at 48 hours post-infection. Therapeutic (post-infection) treatment up to 24 hours after infection of Vero cells also reduced viral titers, with the 0.1 μg/ml dose causing greater than 100-foldreductions as measured at 48 hours, and the 0.05 μg/ml dose resulting in a 3578-fold reduction.The potent prophylactic and therapeutic antiviral activities demonstrated here strongly support the further development of oleandrin to reduce the severity of COVID-19 and potentially also to reduce spread by persons diagnosed early after infection.

In years past the FDA has been dinged for major slow walking and foot dragging when it comes to testing and approving new medicines. Many drugs are available to the rest of the world that are not yet available to us. With this pandemic that slowness has become an issue, but I don’t think the best idea is to throw caution to the wind and let anything fly. That way leads to snake oil. There has to be some level of significant proper, fair, testing.

OTOH, the Axios article does mention how this could easily be marketed as an herbal supplement, which could NOT focus on any curative ability. To which there’s an easy work around; “We’re NOT ALLOWED to mention that this cures Covid, and thus cannot recommend a dose of 2 pills a day for 2 weeks. This product is for dietary supplemental use only, and we bear no responsibility for it’s use in any other manner.” kind of advertising.

OTTH, shouldn’t President Trump know by now when to keep his fat mouth shut?

OTOH, the Romans also used it to commit suicide.

I looked up the entry at Wiki ... and I think I’ll pass on this one. There may be too much risk in a cure made from just a little bit of deadly poison.

The Death Of NYC?

This is what happens when you elect a communist as mayor. One who encourages rioting and lawlessness. Riots after weeks of extended lockdown. Retail is dying. Populations are fleeing. Violence is everywhere, at unprecedented levels. It’s anarchy and depression.

De Blasio’s New York has finally hit an all-time low: the once bustling city is now on the verge of looking like a demilitarized zone. Between the pandemic and the riots in the city, iconic 5th Avenue now looks more like a dystopian nightmare in a recently shot video posted to Twitter.

The video follows a car driving down a deserted 5th Avenue, with almost all of the area’s high end stores boarded up and shut down. There are few people seen on what is usually a busy street.

“Look at everything. Everything’s boarded up. Even the hotel. Boarded up,” the video’s narrator, who is obviously fed up with how the city looks, says.

He continues: “This is all Manhattan, boarded up. Have you ever seen Manhattan look like this? The media will not report this.”

“Everything boarded up. They don’t want to show this to you people because they’re afraid. Saks 5th Avenue - boarded up from end to end. They put up barbed wire. Everywhere you see boards, windows are gone. Look at New York City - what happened,” he says.

The video runs over 2 minutes and shows dozens of boarded up businesses.




Check the video. Manhattan is boarded up. Block after block of high-end retail closed down and barricaded.



This isn’t exactly new. Similar video from more than a month ago.

No, it’s not a war zone — it’s Manhattan.

Video shows once-bustling Big Apple streets nearly deserted and dotted with boarded-up, spray-painted and bashed-in buildings after days of looting.

The footage taken Tuesday and Wednesday in Midtown and Soho shows the windows of popular stores shattered while others — such as Burberry, Sephora and Sunglasses Hut — are covered in plywood to protect against looters.

Only a handful of masked pedestrians and police officers are seen walking on eerily empty sidewalks. Some plywood panels put up by shops were tagged with graffiti reading, “Justice for George Floyd” — the black man who died after a white Minneapolis police officer pinned him to the ground for nearly nine minutes.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, many Big Apple retailers have been closed for months prior to protests over Floyd’s death.



These riots happened at the end of May ...

Sidewalks across the SoHo neighborhood, Union Square and Fifth Avenue were covered in broken glass. Multiple police cars had been burnt to nothing but ashes. Stores, including a Duane Reade, Urban Outfitters and Swatch, were looted. Banks were ravaged. An Equinox gym had been broken in to. Graffiti covered retailers’ logos up and down some of the glitziest shopping districts, which normally would be hosting a hotbed of tourist activity this time of year.

The New York Police Department has since said it arrested almost 350 people Saturday evening, following protests across parts of Harlem, Brooklyn and Staten Island. NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said in a press conference held Sunday that more than 30 officers suffered minor injuries due to clashes with demonstrators.

It’s now the middle of August. More than 11 weeks later. And these businesses are still closed, still boarded up. Whatever stock that wasn’t looted has been sold online.

Do you really think these storefronts are coming back? Even if the beneficent dictator of NYC allows them to open, with 25% customer capacity and ridiculously paranoid levels of isolation and plexiglass protection inside the stores? Somehow, I kind of doubt it.

Greatest city in the world, killed by policy in half a year. This was not an accident.

Very Funny Officer

So I got another ticket yesterday. Me and my red car manage to get pulled over a couple times a year. Yes, I’m an inveterate speeder, but I do it properly. I don’t tailgate, I don’t cut people off, I use my turn signals, I almost pass anyone on the right, and of course my car is in perfect working order and my papers are current. And I don’t go flying around corners on two wheels, or anything close to reckless driving. I’m just an impatient driver, like everyone else in the state.

In NJ, everyone speeds. Everyone. Nearly everywhere. The only place we make up for it is in those 25mph zones near schools, parks, and downtown. People generally do about 17 in those.

NJ has a scheme in place on the highways. They “let” you drive 65mph, but fines are doubled. Should there be a traffic cone by the side of the road, or a permanent sign saying that bit of highway is also a construction zone, fines are doubled again. So getting a speeding ticket on the highway can be a darn costly experience.

Generally, highway traffic moves at 75mph in good conditions, even in the slow lane, but on the weekends it flies. 85 is typical, 95 is not unheard of, with cars maybe two lengths apart traveling in packs.

And NJ keeps points for 5 years, with a big long list of how many points for whichever of the 65 or so moving violations they have. Get more than 6 in a 3 year period, and get an extra fine to pay. There are a fair number of 0 point offenses, but they are not on the list. Good luck trying to find them, although we all know that the seatbelt one and the red light camera one are no-pointers.

How many points are on your license? Like many other states, you have to pay the DMV to find this out. Gosh, wouldn’t you think that this would be part of their regular job? Available online for free, given that this is a microscopic database inquiry? Heck no.

But there’s a game involved. There are a good number of offenses that don’t have points. Just a fine. So most cops short circuit the plea bargaining process, and give you a break and just write you up for some 0 point offense. It puts donut money in their coffers, nobody wastes time going to court, an you just go online and pay the fine with your credit card.

So I got pulled over for doing 85 in a 65 zone on a demarcated highway. I wasn’t racing, or playing artful dodger, or zooming down the road alone. I was just cruising along with traffic. The Statey did his job in about 2 minutes and I was back on my way.

He wrote me up for the 0 point offense of Delaying Traffic.

Haha, very funny.

Rhubarb !!!

She came home from work with an armload of rhubarb that a coworker had brought in from their garden.

I haven’t had rhubarb in ... probably 45 years. Pretty sure my parents used to grow it in the vegetable garden, but that’s loooong ago in the past.

So we’re making strawberry rhubarb pie, and, since we have so much of the stuff, we’re making a strawberry rhubarb crumble as well. Both are a great excuse to get hold of some good vanilla ice cream.

Rhubarb has an unusual taste, but it’s one that I’ve always loved. Can’t wait to get to baking things up and trying them out. Might even have enough to send her to work Monday with another crumble.

Oh goody, and I guess I’d better go look outside. Amazon says my copy of Law of Nations and John Locke’s Two Treaties of Government were delivered today. Along with my new Solo 2L hand sprayer, as the old one died after a decade of use.

Fauci Gets One Right

Fauci: Voting In Person OK If Social Distancing Done

Dr. Anthony Fauci, chief medical adviser for the White House coronavirus task force, said this week that there is “no reason” Americans are not able to vote in person for the 2020 presidential election in November.

Fauci emphasized that voting in person would not need to be avoided as long as voters followed CDC guidelines and maintained social distancing.

“I think if carefully done, according to the guidelines, there’s no reason that I can see why that not be the case,” Fauci told ABC News. “If you go and wear a mask, if you observe the physical distancing, and don’t have a crowded situation, there’s no reason why shouldn’t be able to do that.”

Fauci noted, however, that those who are at high-risk if exposed to coronavirus or have a compromised immune system should stay indoors and use mail-in voting.

OK, 99% right. I think most absentee ballots should be dropped off well ahead of time at the polling centers, logged in, and signed for ... once proper ID and voter registration is checked. The USPS is highly leftist, so I would not trust them too much.

As reliable as the coming dawn, the willfully stupid and the left biased media and “the experts” have once again yelled real loud to subvert the proper understanding of the law. And that noise will do the job.

I said it yesterday: This application of the Constitution will be ignored and denied by the media and everyone else. Because “birthers”. People are so terrified of being called a name that they are willing to ignore the law, the history of the law, and the true meaning and intent of the law. That’s beyond sad. It’s beyond cowardly. It’s apathetic, pathetic, and bathetic.

That’s right; it’s a conspiracy theory. And he’s abhorrent. Because he referred to a statement made by somebody about the natural born issue, and then said he didn’t know if that was correct or not. So slam him for even implying that this could be a problem.

And then the lies come out by the bucketful. And the overwhelming noise of indignation and implicit raycis drown out the truth, once again. We are totally fucking doomed.

President Trump would not reject a conspiracy theory Thursday that Kamala Harris is ineligible to serve as vice president because her parents were born outside the United States.

Asked about the unfounded and widely refuted claims during a press briefing at the White House, Trump responded, “I heard it today that she doesn’t meet the requirements” before adding, “I have no idea if that’s right.”

Harris is a United States citizen born in California in 1964, making her eligible to serve as president or vice president under the Constitution. [ Fox you are wrong ]

However, a professor of law at Chapman University, John C. Eastman, wrote a piece for Newsweek this week after she was named to the Democratic ticket questioning whether Harris is a “natural born citizen” because her mother was born in India and her father was born in Jamaica.

The fact that Senator Kamala Harris has just been named the vice presidential running mate for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden has some questioning her eligibility for the position. The 12th Amendment provides that “no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President of the United States.” And Article II of the Constitution specifies that “[n]o person except a natural born citizen...shall be eligible to the office of President.” Her father was (and is) a Jamaican national, her mother was from India, and neither was a naturalized U.S. citizen at the time of Harris’ birth in 1964. That, according to these commentators, makes her not a “natural born citizen"—and therefore ineligible for the office of the president and, hence, ineligible for the office of the vice president.

Newsweek also ran a counter essay by noted lawyer Eugene Volokh. IMO, as its typical for greasy lawyers, and all lawyers are greasy because the law is merely a tool to them, and not something held sacrosanct, Volokh makes his counter from the wrong direction. He’s throwing shade and puffing smoke, and emphasizing aspects that have no real bearing. Argument by non sequitur. 

Some people have argued that Kamala Harris is ineligible to be vice president of the United States. The Constitution requires presidents and vice presidents to be “natural-born citizens”; Harris was born in the U.S., but her parents (who had come to the U.S. to study) weren’t U.S. citizens at the time. Does “natural-born citizen” include Harris, and others like her?

It does. “Natural-born citizen” was a familiar legal phrase to the Framers—an adaptation of the English term “natural-born subject.” Sir William Blackstone, an English treatise writer who (in Justice Scalia’s words) was “the Framers’ accepted authority on English law and the English Constitution,” explained:

Natural-born subjects are such as are born within the dominions of the crown of England, that is, within the ligeance, or as it is generally called, the allegiance of the king. ...The children of aliens, born here in England, are, generally speaking, natural-born subjects, and entitled to all the privileges of such.

It’s possible that “natural-born citizen” has since been broadened to include children of U.S. citizens born overseas (a 1790 Act of Congress specified that, “The children of citizens of the United States, that may be born beyond sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural-born citizens").

He is wrong. It is not an adaptation of natural born subject, even though natural born citizen shares two of the three words with the other concept. Oh, and that 1790 Act was overturned in 1795, which he fails to mention. Even the best lawyer is a weasel dick. They argue for or against a topic. Searching for and declaring the actual truth has nothing to do with it.

What is a natural born citizen? It is someone born in this country whose parents are already citizens of this country. Period. Full stop. And that’s all there is to it.

I am a natural born citizen because I was born in this country and both my parents were born here as well, and their parents were citizens when they were born which thus made them natural born citizens. All my grandparents were born here too, although one of them might not have qualified as natural born because her parents came here from Germany, and I have no idea who things worked in the 1890s and I don’t know if they were naturalized citizens by the time granny popped out. But that was generations ago, so it isn’t germane.

It seems we go through this every presidential election cycle. I think what is needed is a SCOTUS decision. And that will never happen, because an honest decision, true to original intent would also torpedo the anchor baby concept that’s been around for 4 decades now. And probably squash the legality of dual citizenship too. And we do not have brave, honest, true Americans on the Supreme Court who are willing or able to make bold, proper decisions. Without the slightest doubt in my mind, this should be a 5 minute, 9-0 decision, made for clarification purposes alone - not delayed forever until some case with standing worms it’s way upwards.

I’m going to add this to my list of life truths:

•  Sulfur is properly spelled sulphur.


•   Eohippus is the Dawn Horse. No other taxonomy name is correct. There is no relation to the rock hyrax, so putting the original horse in the order Hyracotherium was a mistake.

•  The big long dinosaur was a brontosaurus

•  A shark is not a fish, dammit, it is an elasmobranch. Real fish have scales, gill pumps, and a swim bladder. Creating a new intermediate order called “bony fishes” to include both is cheating, especially if you don’t also include dolphins who, by that redefinition should also be fish. Fish who are mammals. No, this is wrong.

•  Ok, I now grudgingly nearly accept that Pluto is not an actual planet, “merely” a dwarf planet or planetoid, because somebody either moved the definition goalposts or because science has advanced enough to go there and find out how big the thing actually is. Pluto 1473 miles across, 2/3 the size of our moon. Mercury still counts as a planet. Mercury is 1516 miles across, a whopping big 43 miles larger. Oh puh-lease. So my grudgingly is very grudgingly. OTOH, given that Pluto has 5 moons, one moon called Chiron which is half the size of Pluto, perhaps it should be called a double planet or a multi-planet.


•  A natural born citizen is someone who is born within the desmenses of a country and both of whose parents are already citizens of that country.

I got so worked up about this yesterday I went out an bought a copy of Law of Nations, and while I was at the digital bookstore I got a copy of the writings of John Locke.

Here we should be going again with the natural born citizen thing. And just like Obama, Kamala Harris does not qualify as such.  Not that most anyone else can understand the concept, or knows that it is very important to care about this and why. “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”

14th Amendment, Section 1, 1868

It is abundantly clear that “subject to the jurisdiction thereof” means exclusively subject to the jurisdiction thereof, which means not in any way beholden to the whims or powers of a foreign government. This was clearly understood by all until fairly recently.

Yes, she was born in the USA. Neither of her parents were citizens at the time. This makes her an anchor baby. According the the 14th Amendment, anchor babies are not citizens. This isn’t a “strict” reading of the amendment, it is a plain reading thereof. Original intent is easy to find in the Congressional Record of the day. The only “reason” that they are considered such these days is due to a single footnote in the 5-4 1982 SCOTUS decision Plyer v. Doe, added to the majority opinion by Justice Brennan:

“no plausible distinction with respect to Fourteenth Amendment ‘jurisdiction’ can be drawn between resident aliens whose entry into the United States was lawful, and resident aliens whose entry was unlawful.”

This weakening of the meaning of jurisdiction within the 14th - that it sees the term as meaning subject to the laws of this nation, and not solely subject to those laws (ie not being also subject to the laws of some other country, as is the legal situation of illegal immigrants) - was a part of the Plyer case, which dealt with Texas’s claim that school funding should not be granted to illegal immigrant children. And of course, Brennan’s footnote comment overlooks that such illegals have no right to be here at all.

Right.

Harris’ parents were a citizen of India and a citizen of Jamaica. While she herself was born in California, and shortly thereafter went to Canada, where she spent nearly all her formative years, she qualifies as a citizen by the anchor baby misconception. Being a citizen does not make you a natural born citizen.

The entire concept of natural born citizen comes from a French book called The Laws of Nations, which was written in 1758 and is the only book or exterior document referenced in the US Constitution. It was used extensively by the Framers, far more than the code of English Common Law, which they strongly felt did not apply to the USA, although they borrowed large parts of it ... as our own law.  Anyway, in The Laws of Nations it says:

“Les naturels, ou indigenes, sont ceux qui sont nes dans le pays, de parens citoyens”

A direct translation is “The natural, or indigenous, are those who are born in the country, of parents who are citizens”.

While there was an 1797 update to the english version of the book, which clarified that line to read “The natives, or natural-born citizens, are those born in the country, of parents who are citizens.”

This is a rather strict definition. To be a natural born citizen, you need to be born here and both your parents need to be citizens when you are born. Not just born here, and not with just one parent a citizen, regardless of where you were born.

Later extensions to the concept allowed “here” to include territories of the country (eg Guam and Puerto Rico), areas controlled by the country (eg military bases), land considered part of the country that was in other countries (eg consulates and embassies), and things controlled by the government of the country (eg military aircraft and ships that happen to be outside the confines of the country at the moment of birth). This is how John McCain, born at a military base in another country, was deemed a valid candidate.

[ “naturels” is the masculine form of the word, “naturelles” is the feminine form. French is so sexist, but both words mean the same thing. ]

Merely being born to two citizen parents is insufficient. Merely being born within our country is insufficient. This is a precise and sharply focused concept, and about the only time it every applies is when someone is considering running for President or Vice President, although it should probably apply to any elected representative who could possibly be in the chain of succession.

This application of the Constitution will be ignored and denied by the media and everyone else. Because “birthers”. People are so terrified of being called a name that they are willing to ignore the law, the history of the law, and the true meaning and intent of the law. That’s beyond sad. It’s beyond cowardly. It’s apathetic, pathetic, and bathetic.

Dutch police have uncovered what they described as the biggest cocaine laboratory ever discovered in the Netherlands, leading to the arrest of 17 suspects from Colombia, Turkey and the Netherlands.

The drug lab was hidden at a former horse riding school in Nijeveen, some 75 miles from Amsterdam, police said in a statement Tuesday.

Police raided the riding school on Friday, discovering tens of thousands of liters of chemicals and 220 pounds of crack cocaine. Sleeping quarters and recreation areas were also found at the site.
The facility was equipped to produce up to 440 pounds of cocaine a day, officials said.

“This is the largest cocaine laboratory ever found in the Netherlands,” police chief Andre van Rijn said in the statement.

How Dare You!!

An anonymous poster on Reddit’s “Am I the A--h---” subreddit said he started a meat-eating club at his job in response to a coworker’s vegan-only club.

He claimed that one of his colleagues started a vegan dinner club exclusively for their coworkers following a vegan, vegetarian or pescatarian diet. Other coworkers “will not be able to join the club,” the poster said the group’s “statement of purpose” read.

In response, the poster claimed that he and some other meat-eating coworkers started a burger and steak club to go out and try new restaurants each week. They only allowed meat-eaters to join. However, members of the vegan club filed a complaint with the company’s human resources department.

Oh how brave, how strong, how empowering. How false and hollow an accomplishment.

And Fox’s headline ... OMG ... “Biden taps Kamala Harris as running mate”. Heels up!

Kamala Harris, the politically shrewd California senator with a law enforcement background that has caused some tensions with the progressive left, was announced Tuesday as Joe Biden’s running mate.

She makes history as the first Black woman to serve as a major political party’s VP pick. The Biden campaign said Biden and Harris will deliver remarks together on Wednesday in Wilmington, Delaware.

“I’ve decided that Kamala Harris is the best person to help me take this fight to Donald Trump and Mike Pence and then to lead this nation starting in January 2021,” Biden said in an email to supporters.

Biden also tweeted: “I have the great honor to announce that I’ve picked @KamalaHarris — a fearless fighter for the little guy, and one of the country’s finest public servants — as my running mate.”

He added: “Back when Kamala was Attorney General, she worked closely with Beau. I watched as they took on the big banks, lifted up working people, and protected women and kids from abuse. I was proud then, and I’m proud now to have her as my partner in this campaign.”

The Trump campaign also released a statement from Katrina Pierson, a Trump 2020 senior adviser, that said: “In her failed attempt at running for president, Kamala Harris gleefully embraced the left’s radical manifesto, calling for trillions of dollars in new taxes and backing Bernie Sanders’ government takeover of health care. She is proof that Joe Biden is an empty shell being filled with the extreme agenda of the radicals on the left.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of you. Politico made the call at the beginning of the month, and many others had figured out that from Biden’s limited field of choices, seeing how his search was utterly sexist and racist in demanding a black woman, this one was the least atrocious of a stupefyingly horrible bunch.

Feral Child Killers

The Little White Kid Next Door

A five-year-old boy is dead after a Wilson, North Carolina, man reportedly ran up to the child while he was playing in a neighborhood street and fatally shot the child in the head. According to a report from WRAL-TV, the shooting took place on Sunday.

Cannon Hinnant was playing outside his father’s house on the dusky summer evening when their neighbor — 25-year-old Darius N. Sessoms — charged Cannon, produced a handgun, and shot him in the head.

The child’s seven-year-old and eight-year-old siblings witnessed the murder.

First responders came to the scene and transported the little boy to Wilson Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Doris Labrant, a neighbor, said she witnessed Sessoms running up to Cannon, putting the gun to his head, and firing the weapon before fleeing the scene into his own home.

Authorities took Sessoms into custody on Monday night and charged him with first-degree murder.

“5 yr old Cannon Hinnant was executed in front of his sisters for accidentally riding a bike on his neighbors lawn,” producer and director Robby Starbuck posted. “There’s no pain our justice system can impose on his killer Darius Sessoms that‘ll equate to justice. CNN & MSNBC haven’t even covered it.”
