Liar In Chief

Yeah yeah, President Obongo put out his “19 points” Executive Order crap today, except they grew to 23 points before he was finished. He did the expected bullshit of amping up the schmaltz factor to 11.24 “if there’s only one live that can be saved then we must act now”. Horse feathers.

President Obama called Wednesday for a new and tougher assault-weapons ban and a 10-round limit on magazines, as part of a comprehensive plan to curb gun violence that includes 23 steps he took without congressional action.

Already facing stiff opposition from gun-rights advocates and Republican lawmakers, the president called on Congress to pass several major changes to the country’s current gun laws—some of which are already being considered like the restrictions on semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines.

Obama called as well for legislation to bar the possession and importation of armor-piercing bullets and to require criminal background checks for nearly all gun sales.

blah blah blah, go find your own link. It’s on every channel and at every news site on the Internet. And it’s all crap.

But a little bit of REALITY for all you bitter clingers. Wait. All you bitter clingers already know this, because you actually know and understand things about firearms. Let me address everyone else then:

Obama wants to ban possession of armor piercing bullets. Gosh, that sounds reasonable doesn’t it? That sounds safe. And smart. Only one problem there my little corksnockers: ALL BULLETS ARE ARMOR PIERCING. Because it depends on what you call armor, and on the velocity of the projectile.

So unless Obadoofus’s EO is laying down some pretty damned specific set of qualifications (as if), then it’s entirely possible that he just banned nearly every rifle bullet out there more modern than a round musket ball. (ESPECIALLY the latest generation of bullets which are machined from solid bronze or copper, because the Greenies are having shit fits that hunters are poisoning the wilderness with spent lead, so they’re calling for the criminalization of lead bullets. Bronze and copper ones are much harder, so by nature they’re even more armor piercing than their old school cousins made from lead.) That’s some pretty dirty pool ... especially since I can’t EVER recall a shooting of any kind being done with AP ammo. NEVER EVER. So how is that going to make anyone safer? It ain’t. And if he had a magical unicorn fart powered time machine, what crime would it have ever prevented? NONE. So how is this completely uncalled for restriction in any way, shape, or form, protecting the Second Amendment? It isn’t. It’s restricting your rights and your freedoms for no valid reason or even any implied one. But it panders to the low information voter who always votes how her feelings go.

PS - the armor vests worn by our nationally militarized jack-booted police (and umpteen other alphabet soup government agencies empowered to bear arms against the citizenry) come in levels of protection. They are all armor, by definition. Yet Level I gear will only stop low powered pistol bullets, Level II gear will only stop “light magnum” higher velocity pistol bullets (eg 9mm+P and .357 Magnum), and so on. You need to get right up to the top of the body armor pyramid to find the stuff that will stop bullets typically used by deer hunters. And that stuff will only stop a couple of them. 2 or 3 hits in the same general area and the armor fails. So even the best stuff isn’t exactly permanently impermeable. Therefore the bullets that defeat it are “armor piercing”.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot.
