I don’t buy it

NYC Cops laud observant citizen who spotted truck bomb

Times Square Bomb Was a Dud

I don’t buy it. Any of my readers adept enough to balance the chemical equation xC3H8 + y02 --> nCO2 + kH20 (and that means you McGoo. And several others!) can take one micro-peep at this “terrorist bomb attempt” in Manhattan and smell a rat. I’m sorry. I know the splodey dopes are mega-stupid, but they aren’t this stupid. A couple of jerry cans of gasoline, a couple propane tanks, and a box of over the counter fireworks to set the thing off.

No. Sale.

Does. Not. Compute.

This was not a bomb. This was something that was supposed to look like a bomb. And if you are a real terrorist, what’s the point of planting a phony bomb that everyone outside of BMEWS is going to accept as a real one? But if you are NOT a terrorist, who profits by “saving the day” over a phony bombing attempt? Follow the money!

I buy into this story only half as much as I accept that the BP oil rig disaster was an accident. And I don’t buy that one at all.

New York City Police Investigate Failed New York City Bombing

Local and federal authorities worked Sunday to identify the person or group behind an “amateurish” but potentially powerful bomb planted inside a car parked in New York City’s Times Square. [ which you know will turn out to be some bunch of disgruntled skinhead hillbillies with 8 teeth to share amongst them. ]

Local and federal authorities worked Sunday to identify the person or group behind an “amateurish” but potentially powerful bomb planted inside a car parked in New York City’s Times Square.

Police found the bomb that apparently began to detonate but did not explode in a smoking sport utility vehicle on Saturday, prompting thousands of tourists to be cleared from the streets for 10 hours while the explosive was dismantled.

“We avoided what we could have been a very deadly event,” Mayor Michael Bloomberg said. “It certainly could have exploded and had a pretty big fire and a decent amount of explosive impact.”

Investigators removed three propane tanks, fireworks, two filled 5-gallon gasoline containers, and two clocks with batteries, electrical wire and other components from the back of the Nissan Pathfinder, Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly said. A black metal box resembling a gun locker was also recovered and will be detonated off site, he said.

Bloomberg called the explosive device “amateurish” and Kelly said the explosives were consumer-grade fireworks but could have caused huge damage on a block of Broadway theaters and restaurants teeming with tourists.

“I think the intent was to cause a significant ball of fire,” Kelly said.

Firefighters who arrived shortly after first call heard a popping sound, said Fire Commissioner Sal Cassano, who described the sound as not quite an explosion.

The bomb appeared to be starting to detonate but malfunctioned, top police spokesman Paul Browne told The New York Times and Wall Street Journal.

Horseshit. At least the undie-bomber’s rig would have blown up if it had been put together right. This was a false flag operation from the get-go.

It does not take Dr. Evil levels of genius to design a hella effective bomb. The basic Electronics Project Kit from Radio Shack would do it. A simple little circuit with just one 555 timing chip, 2 J-K flip flops, 4 6 volt solenoid driven valves, a spoonful of black powder and 4 broken flashbulbs ... and what was in this truck, assisted by the above balanced equation in physical form, could have at least taken out the windows on the better part of a city block. Especially if the Pathfinder had window and door gaskets enhanced to handle a few atmospheres. Um, like epoxy, or silicon caulk!

And the paki-tali trying to take credit for it? Double doody. No way in hell, given their ability to make IEDs that can take down tanks, and our unbelievably porous border, that they could not smuggle in some real explosives. So again ... follow the money.

Not that very many people ever read this far down, but this blog was the creation of Allan Kelly and his friend Vilmar. Vilmar moved on to his own blog some time ago, and Allan ran this place alone until his sudden and unexpected death partway through 2006. We all miss him. A lot. Even though he is gone this site will always still be more than a little bit his. We who are left to carry on the BMEWS tradition owe him a great debt of gratitude, and we hope to be able to pay that back by following his last advice to us all:
  1. Keep a firm grasp of Right and Wrong
  2. Stay involved with government on every level and don't let those bastards get away with a thing
  3. Use every legal means to defend yourself in the event of real internal trouble, and, most importantly:
  4. Keep talking to each other, whether here or elsewhere
It's been a long strange trip without you Skipper, but thanks for pointing us in the right direction and giving us a swift kick in the behind to get us going. Keep lookin' down on us, will ya? Thanks.

Oh, and here's some kind of visitor flag counter thingy. Hey, all the cool blogs have one, so I should too. The Visitors Online thingy up at the top doesn't count anything, but it looks neat. It had better, since I paid actual money for it.
