Council to ban the word ‘obesity’ - so fat children don’t get offended
I have spent unnumbered hours today on the phone and on line making arrangements for flights etc. Some of my problems are I have to confess, of my own damn making. I knew a month ago that I needed to make plans for this and then instead of just doing it and relaxing, oh no. I had to do things the hard way by dragging my heels and now it’s down to the wire and another week to go.
I was so busy today I never got to read the two papers we get every morning. And tomorrow we have an appointment with our lawyer. Then I have to finalize the trip and tickets. Next time I will do it differently. I’ll be booked a month ahead of time. Maybe.
At this exact moment I have a ripping headache, sore chest and a damn scratchy throat. A bug? Nope. Just a damn fool inconsiderate neighbor two door away who decided to have a bonfire in high winds. The smoke came through our house like there were no windows or doors. That was hours ago and it still smells in here. The uncaring jerk was burning cuttings that were mostly wet. Huge clouds of gray smoke and ash falling like snowflakes everywhere. And that isn’t the first time they’ve done that. Bonfires are legal here but I have to wonder about a place that’s so worried about air quality allowing that activity.
Ah, rural living. COUGH-COUGH!
I took a quick break from looking at hotels in our area back home and went to the Mail to see what I’d missed in the hard copy. Came across this.
It figures. The pc touchy-feely crowd has found another word that may offend some folks and so ....

In an age of widespread political correctness almost any term can be deemed to offend someone at some time.
But one council has been condemned after it announced it would consider banning the word ‘obese’ because it could offend fat children.
Town hall bosses want to want to replace it with the phrase ‘unhealthy weight’ so children are not stigmatised.
The move has caused fury among parents and anti-obesity campaigners who have branded the scheme ‘ preposterous and laughable.’
