  1. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The Sad Truth: My wife’s father died when she was about three.  Her only direct memory of him is that the bathroom smelled bad after he used it.

  2. Interesting (I’ve heard of the site before) - I think that for those who want something like that and don’t write - a good thing. My daughter is amazing on the few (minutes) really and little time, she has done research. My other daughter has really pressed friendships and favors to get military info - where basically none was to be had.

The real deal is that most people can’t take the time or effort to do it themselves. And many already have too much family history to bother.

I just found out (in 2006) that I was born in a home for unwed mothers (which no longer exists) - the research for this next step is not worth it to me at all. My husband’s real father died two weeks before he was born - he doesn’t even have a name. And finally my ‘moms’ family has many people in it who changed their name to protect their real ethnic heritage - and so you see - as I said, some people already have too much family history to bother.
