  1. What about the drop ship!

  2. I should think at the speed this mother travels the impact would be not far off a small nuke! Impressive stuff and it makes me wonder what other stuff they have yet to reveal.

  3. Skip,

With a range of 650nm, it doesn’t need any more gas since it can be launched from a BUFF.  That alone gives it worldwide range...and I’m sure the BUFF drivers don’t mind that much standoff from the bad guys…

Also, the shock-wave riding concept for lift and engine compressor assist isn’t new, it was first demo’d with the XB-70 (RIP).

  4. Awesome. As a taxpayer, the part that I like best is that it just might be inexpensive to make. It always chaps my wallet seeing these guys drop a $250,000 bomb on a $5 camel.

I’d like to see some sort of comparison between this one’s kinetic effects and that of, say, a regular 2000lb bomb. It’s really hard for me to get totally aboard the Smart Rock concept - if we target one enemy there’s a strong likelyhood that he’ll have several more of our enemies around him plus sympathizers, so why not just blast them all at the same time?

  5. Drew can I use that expression “chaps my wallet?” what a corker! Oh and I agree btw dropping mavericks and cruise missiles on these pisspots is poor value for money but if it means we don’t have to risk boots on the ground then it’s worth the expense.
