4. In view of his record, it seems that Carter’s definition of a “fair election” has always been an election won by his favored side.

   I do not recall him pronouncing a “fair election” in any election that went otherwise, including a couple of our own.

   And I agree with you, Skip.  One beyond the peanut field, he is tragically out of his depth.

6. My IDF pal, who is here studying at UW, says he may be heading back earlier than planned. He has experience in Gaza and is part of IDF special forces (I could tell you which branch, but then I’d have to you all.

   He is pretty convinced both Gaza and West Bank are in for a major civil war and that Israel is going to 1) be vigilent to keep it out of Israel proper, and 2) exploit the crap out of the situation to settle some scores and do in Hamas, Palestinian Jihad, etc etc.

   Sounds like a plan to me!

What I remember most about Carter’s “administration” is the overthrow of the Shah and the installation of Khomeini, the Iranian hostage crisis, the signing away of the Panama Canal, double-digit inflation and unemployment, a drastic erosion of our military capability--and oh yes, a brat who publically admitted that she learned history and politics from the Oprah Winfrey show.

    I don’t care to remember any more.  This much is burden enough.
