  2. Had we given them a few weeks, the Japs would have nuked US. They were that close. (Of course, it would have San Fransico...but it is the principle of the thing that matters!)

    Not to mention what would have happended to our troops if they had invaded Japan. Or what would have happened to the Japanese themselves. If you thought that the Germans were desperate in defending Berlin from the Soviets (I don’t blame them), the Japs were positively insane.

    I do not regret for a second that we used nuclear weapons in WWII. Not one.
