  1. “The police service is being outgunned on the streets of Britain day and night,” said police officer Norman Brennan, director of the group Protect the Protectors

Outgunned???? But how can that be???  There are no guns in England.  I am SHOCKED, I tell you SHOCKED that all of the criminals didn’t turn in their weapons like the law abiding citizens that they are................................Oh, Sorry I forgot.  Socialism at it’s finest.  Just remember that the police are there to protect you.......now who will protect them?

  2. And Home Office minister Hazel Blears rejected calls for the police to be routinely armed.

“It is important that the police have a very close relationship with the public and for them to routinely carry guns might put that relationship at risk,” she said.

Another socialist talking out of her ass arse.

That piece is just another tool on the belt like the handcuffs, flashlight or baton and it gives them, as well as the regular citizen, a better measure of protection than the other tools of the trade. It would appear that Hazel would rather send them to a gunfight with a stick. After all, it’s not her being shot at, is it?

Makes me wonder if she’s a Feinstein liberal. (Senator Dianne Feinstein carries a gun and posesses one of the very rare California Concealed Carry Permits and had the only one in San Francisco when she was the mayor. IOW, she’ll take guns away from everyone else but keep her own.)

  3. “Even if we armed every single police officer in this country that doesn’t mean criminals aren’t going to carry firearms”—Yeah but at least the police will be able to Return FIRE!  Instead of just ducking for cover and asking them politely to please stop shooting.

“...died from a gunshot wound to the chest, despite wearing body armor...” This after attempting to tackle 3 armed and dangerous thieves.  She must have taken a large caliber round at close range to her chest.  The lightweight kevlar vests are not designed to stop a large caliber round at close range.  You would need a military flak jacket with armor plate inserts but it’s rather heavy to carry around (yet our troops manage it in 100+ heat...).

“Beshenivsky had been a full time officer for nine months, police said. She was killed on her youngest daughter’s fourth birthday”—Oh man, if ever there was a good reason for a mother to not be a police officer that one tops the list!  I am not saying women should not be police officers, I am saying mothers with young children should not be police officers.  I have a good deal of respect for her bravery; to attempt to tackle three armed criminals with her only backup being a fellow female officer.  However, her four year old daughter now has no mother and a new anniversary to remember every birthday by.  Mothers are the foundation of our society and it has been so for thousands upon thousands of years.  Mothers with young children should not be working hazardous jobs or engaging the enemy on the front lines of a war.  Again, women are fully capable of being excellent police officers and even marines.  The female MP that took on 12 Iraqi terrorists when a convoy was attacked pretty much by herself with a machine gun and grenade launcher is a hero. Several of her fellow MP’s were wounded yet she and another managed to charge the enemy and literally take them out.  But was she a mother of young children?  No, if I remember correctly she was a young 23 year old who was a retail clerk before the war.  I would not want to get between an armed woman and her child either.  I just don’t think it’s appropriate for mothers with young children to put themselves at unnecessary risk.  Liberals for 50 years have been trying to destroy the family unit by making women feminists, sex outside of marriage acceptable, attacking Christians, glorifying homosexual lifestyle, turning children against their parents through the guise of education, etc., etc.

Well that’s my opinion and I will probably catch fiery hell for it, but there it is…

  4. The simplest of things could have kept her alive. In Germany they used to carry machine guns openly. The Polezi never seemed to have problems with raport.

  5. OCM: GENERALLY true, but that should not stop those that qualify. Good comments. I’ve criticized American gun psychology in the past—NOTE, not the same as gun ownership! I’m waiting to hear from our Brits.

  6. Thanks Skipper, guns don’t kill people, wolfs do.

Those Brits are damn lucky Americans with guns came and stopped them from learning German. flag

Hitler said, “If Germany doesn’t stop the Russian hordes, who will, the Brits?”

Without the US the wags of Liverpool would be speaking German or Russian.

The United States saved the English language with our favorite best buddy, guns.  machinegun

  7. “Even if we armed every single police officer in this country that doesn’t mean criminals aren’t going to carry firearms,” she told Sky News television.

Good example of missing the point entirely.

  8. Even if every person in the nation learned CPR, it does not mean that heart attacks would cease.

Even if everyone in the nation learned to swim, it doesn’t mean that drownings would stop.

Even if everyone in the nation voted the asshats out of office, it doesn’t mean some more would never get in.

    What a maroon!

  9. "“Even if we armed every single police officer in this country that doesn’t mean criminals aren’t going to carry firearms,” she told Sky News television. “

No, but it might mean that - like it tends to be in the US - people who shoot police officers at point-blank range generally won’t survive long enough to shoot anyone else.

  10. Let’s parse her statement.

Q: How can we control whether criminals carry guns?  Laws? Armed cops? Unarmed cops.
A: None of the above.  In fact, we can’t.

Q: Given that some lawbreakers will break the law, what is the best strategy for cops. Armed? Unarmed? Stay home? Dead?
    A: Unarmed AND dead.

    Q: WTF?
A: I feel comfortable knowing for sure that someone is unarmed.

    EXTRA CREDIT:
Q: People who own parachutes have been proven to be more likely to die falling from an airplane.  What is their best strategy?
A: To jump without a parachute.

  11. Bout time the Brits armed their policemen & women...............

  12. This has been said manytimes, but I will say it again.

“If you outlaw guns, only outlaws will have guns.”

  13. Well I hardly know where to begin with this one. It would probably surprise you the amount of armed police in Britain, there are a lot more than you think. The “bobby on the beat” has long since passed into history. The days of preventing crime have given way to trying to catch criminals after the event. In modern Britain we have a government and liberal intelligentsia that is horrified at the idea of citizens defending themselves. They compound this by lying about the true level of crime.

As to arming all policeman I am afraid I don’t see this happening and given the attitude of some coppers I can’t say I am too worried about that. Then again I often work with the French police who are all armed (as are their Customs officers) and these guys get respect, unlike their British counterparts. The problem in Britain as in most things is we always “play the game” the feeling is if they arm all the police then the bad guys are more likely to go out tooled up. Well from my experience it’s too late. The bad guys have guns and the intent to use them. Where do I point the blame. Well with the liberals (who else?)

There are two main causes of this, and they are linked. When we signed up to join the then “Common Market” it was a trade block like NAFTA, but the hidden agenda for these Euro fanatics is a European rival to the US. The process has accelerated in the past ten years or so. One of the things the EUrowankers signed up too (though Britain opted out)was the Schengen aggreement. This removed immigration border controls between EU countries. Now that Poland and Lithuania etc. are EU countries the border is with Russia. Once a criminal gets through this border there are no more borders to cross until they get to Britain. This has led to a flood of illegal weapons into the UK. To add to this Britain allows free movement to nationals the former Eastern bloc countries. Now most Poles, Latvians, Czechs etc. are decent hard working folk. However there are many who are downright gangsters and scoundrels. Many from Lithuania where criminality seems to be a way of life. After the trouble in Kosovo Britain was swamped with “asylum seekers” many of them Albanians. In Albania violence and murder is commonplace and now many of the criminal gangs in London are run by Albanians. You only have to watch the news to see stories of prostitution rackets run by Albanians though usually they censor the nationality to avoid offending the liberals.
The other strand to this is the power of the scumbag lawyers to prevent deportation of criminals. A great deal of drive by shootings are carried out by Jamaicans. Many of them are in Britain illegally. However when the police detain them they get legal counsel (free courtesy of HM Government) and if threatened with deportation the shysters drag out the process for months or even years claiming their clients “human rights” will be violated if the clown is sent back.

The former head of the Metropolitan (London) police Lord Stevens has decided after 40 years of opposition to the death penalty that maybe he was wrong. Well I hate to burst his bubble but even if the British government voted to restore hanging (as about 70% of the population agree) it would not be allowed because European law has taken precedence to English Common Law and it would unlawful.

One final note. A lot of British police carry CS gas sprays or pepper sprays. However this is classed as a “firearm” and if they use it they have to fill out reams of forms to justify it’s use. So often they don’t bother. I am afraid Britain is going to hell in a handcart and short of a revolution I don’t see anything improving. We have allowed ourselves to be overrun with the deadbeats of the world and now the people in power are stunned to find that crime has got out of control. Who’d a thunk it?

Oh and Z. re the “we saved your ass in dubya, dubya 2” comment I could debate that at length, but I think you should research the German and Russian losses to get a better appreciation of who did what in WWII

  14. Repeat by OINK:

The Brits said that WW2 Americans were oversexed, overpaid, and over-here. All true.

Americans responded, not as wittily, the the Brits were undersexed, underpaid, and under Eisenhower.  Only the second two were true.

LBJ: I love it when you talk dirty. And correctly, “scumbag lawyers”. More powerful in that you usually avoid Billingsgate. Let the Yanks Google that word.

  15. Oink I try to keep it clean! Sometimes though when the bloods up the fish market does come out! Oh and further to the above I read today that four of the (alleged) scumbags involved in the shooting of the policewoman are Somali, the other one is Asian.
