What a great photo, I have visited the place but failed to really appreciate the building. You are right about the people who built it, up to the end of the victorians the buildings and civil engineering were amazing, from the canals (all dug by hand) bridges (eifel built a nice one, so did Brunel) to viaducts and places of worship and castles, not to mention pyramids. With our wonderfull computers and tech can we build something that will last a hundred years or so?
Peiper, you are truly a lucky duck to have such a magnificent building within walking distance hobbling distance half a charge on your HoverRound your local bus route. It may be one of the more wonderful bits of architecture in all the world.
I would like to see the Hagia Sophia some day. Much older, much larger, but perhaps not as beautiful as Westminster, but awe inspiring nonetheless. And far fewer muzzies around at your place as well.
