Why should we be wedded to the ideal of marriage?  Is marriage outdated ?

 

1. I think Heinlein was right. Marriage *as an institution* serves 2 purposes: 1) Conservation of capital, 2) stable environment for raising children. If neither of those reasons are sufficient for you, being married makes little sense. Yes, I understand the concept of marrying for love, and have no problem with it. But when it comes down to it, the lifetime commitment to be together is something that occurs in the hearts of those involved, and really has nothing at all to do with the paperwork and the ceremony.

2. Sorry I disagree, this outright attack at marriage is a way to weaken and dilute society, culture, country, and religion to the point that the ‘state’/government runs each and every aspect of life to begin indoctrination of the children at birth - it is a dangerous and destructive practice.

   Taking all aside - the case for marriage is to protect the individual (man, woman, child) from the control of the state. It is our main defense and protection against an out of control government.

   And in the rhelm of religion - once again it is the foundation to a strong faith, protection for the individuals and protects against the state/government from infringing on religion.

   Being married does make sense - even if you do not ever have children. You as the individual will always have an advocate on your behalf (or should, if it is a good marriage) in all situations. Again, it is the first line defense of the individual. And the individual is the first line defense of society, culture, country and religion.

   Once you breakdown and destroy the foundation the whole society will collapse.

   That is why the liberals/left are working overtime to destroy it.

   24 years today - and hoping for another 50. Wouldn’t trade a second for all the money or power in the World. Ever.

3. There is no surprise at all to read the support for marriage here, the points are after all plain common sense, just what I usually find here! I guess the left/liberals are really anarchists because, lets face it , they dont have shit to replace anything torn down with, assholes all of them, maybe envy has a role here too, a bottom feeder that cares only for themself and today is hardly going to make a relationship for more than a few hours!!
