Okay, third question: would you hit that?
Jean Harlow?
That’s Aunt Bea...Francis Bavier
Nice Job Smitty. You win a free lifetime membership to BMEW’S. Enjoy
Well done Christopher.
Questions.
1) What in the world made you think of her? Not a household name after all. I would never have guessed.
2) OK Smitty ..... how’d you cotton on to that? Good one.
For more outstanding eye candy from the era, Google Angela Lansbury, 1940s. In her 20s she was a Goddess! And even Helen Mirren early on was a looker. Funny thing about her. She always resented being told she was pretty, claimed she didn’t believe it and that it was sexist to suggest she was. Go figure. She is also VERY left.
Age sure does suck and have it’s way with us.
today’s image search engines make this task pretty easy. Oh, and I think Vilmar ran the same image a few weeks ago. Or Theo.
I thought it was Audrey Meadows (Jackie Gleason’s wife on “The Honeymooners” Guess not.
BTW, If you want to see Helen Mirren at her best, look for an old movie “Age of Consent”. Not bad as Morgan le Fay in “Excalibur” either.

not Aunt Bea.
Busted - Steve got this. It is Gloria De Haven
Here is some more detail. http://drewfriedman.blogspot.com/2013/02/aunt-bee-or-not-aunt-bee.html
Aint it great, the internet make liars out of us all eventually.
JimS, yeah. I thought it was her or her look alike sister but couldn’t think of the name.
Steve, thanks and well done. And thanks also Wes.
Wife and I looked at that photo and had doubts about Aunt Bea, but just could not place the lady. Like JimS, I thought it could have been one of the Meadows sisters. But to now learn it was Gloria De Haven. !! Wow. That is a big surprise.
I also want to thank all of you. This was sent to me in an email from an old high school friend. (No peiper, I didn’t think of it.) He expressed some doubts. There are some superficial resemblances, but I also had doubts. So I posted it here, and got an answer.
My first clue was searching Wikipedia for ‘Francis Bavier. No hits. Obviously. ‘Francis’ is the male version of the name. Looking up ‘Frances Bavier’ got her bio. Smitty got taken by someone who couldn’t spell.
Wes posted a link that actually has an early pic of ‘Aunt Bee.’ Yes, she was cute. I’m a sucker for ‘cute’ over ‘sexy’.
cute over sexy? you mean a lady can’t be both? for some tho, cute is sexy.
