  1. As someone who got stuck riding the ‘little bus’ for a while, no offense to the young man-but who cares. In grade school in the 70’s and very early 80’s- while my special -ed teachers were fighting-in vain- to get me put in gifted program"She can’t be gifted and “retarded “ at the same time, why that’s impossible"-lesser versions of that lad were making my life hell on earth.
I’m sure most wonderkinds like him grow-up to be great people-unfortunetly I experienced some of the “not so greats"- and old wounds sometimes die hard-if at all.

  2. I care to know.  I would like to know if they end up in middle age having done wondrous things with their intelligence.  Or did they end up in some middle management position because they have no vision or people skills?

After all, the press likes top play this stuff up about these kids giving us some sort of false hope or illusion they may be the next best thing to happen to society.  Yet we never hear back.

Sorry about your treatment in school. I believe in karma and because of that I’ll bet those that treated you badly have been repaid in one way or another.

  3. 1.  Well, yes, but this must have been the new re-normed SAT where a 1600 is about equal to a 1400 on the old version.  Either way your point is well taken—academic success does not guarantee life success.

    2.  One of these 13 year old wunderkinds attended my freshman physics class at UCLA in spring 1980.  I think he did OK, you can read all about him over at volokh.com.
