frank, I feel for them too. Poor folk prefer food and electricity to insurance.
As for the carpetbaggers offering 10-20% --Vultures and maggots have their place in nature.
The free market sucks badly sometimes. What choice? The properties aren’t worth much more, when you deduct the cost of clearing away the rubbish. Still a shame about tight communities being destroyed for Starbucks and condos. The hurricane was Nature’s Kelo decision…

The carrion eaters are circling.
Did you expect anything else?
People are buying and selling for all sorts of reasons. But paying more for a destroyed house that it would have cost last month may be smart. Even very smart. It depends.
Some speculators figure they will be given money to rebuild, that the feds will end up paying for totally new schools and public utilities and workers will need houses to rent or buy. There will also be moves to have the feds payoff defaulted municipal bonds. There may be moratoriums on property taxes while special levies are put on the oil companies (who cannot evade them.) The state legislatures are certainly eager to screw the insurance companies out of bigger settlements by changes in regulation. If the La. congressional people have their way the federal money will never end. And they will have support from other damaged gulf states.
So, if enough money can be dragged in from others, things might be pretty good down there for the working man and the speculator.
I’m not going to give the link or name for this POS (You can use Google too):
I was wondering why is it that the people who don’t work or pay taxes are for the most part the one’s calling for the rest of us to pay for the ignorant roaches who lived below sea level and didn’t carry flood insurance?
“Hey! I’m ten feet below sea level and surrounded by a wall made out of dirt. It only has to hold back the entire Gulf of Mexico. You boys put that new flat screen over there and don’t scratch anything!”
What, they’re poor? Awwwwwwww damnit! I didn’t realize. I’m sorry.
How about this? Fuck ‘em and feed em fish heads.
Maybe if the zipperheads in question would have studied in school instead of being the assholes they were, money wouldn’t be an issue.
What do ya think? Maybe?
Well, you see,
people make bad choices & “poor people have poor ways” and so forth. I’m not for dumping the Federal Treasury into N’Orluns, but
if we all got just what we deserved who would escape a whipping? Or Hell? Whatsizname, commanded us to give to the poor, whether they be dumb jerkoffs or not
Oink, I was thinking just the same as you. Carpetbagging at it’s worst. However the people probably have little choice but to sell. Agreed the free market can be brutal, but given the alternative (and living in the Socialist Wasters Paradise of Britain) I know which I prefer.
