What? What? Speak Up Please!
Drew, when I was a young cavalry signal officer, I spent a fair amount of time on tank ranges (Graf and Dona Ana) and didn’t necessarily have earplugs in all the time. You think a .30-06 is bad? Try A 25MM Bushmaster or a 120mm main gun on an M1A1. Now, try to stand within 100 yards of one without earplugs. You develop “tanker’s ear.” Thing is, I can still hear better than a lot of these idiots who walk around with their iPods at maximum volume. And, I can hear my daughter before my wife can, most of the time. Some frequencies I can’t hear well, and there is a faint ringing in my ears. But, I gotta preserve what’s left of my hearing . . .
