Had me a 1972 (yellow) VW Bug.
Bought it brandy new from the VW dealer on Kinderkamack Rd.in Emerson, NJ.
However, don’t look for that dealer now. It went bust a few years later.
Unfortunately,it didn’t have a hood (bonnet) ornament like this beetle has.
However, she reminds me of the young lady (Patricia) who helped me break in the front passenger’s seat a week after I drove it off the lot. Yes, I didn’t think it was physically possible either since I’m 6-1 and Patty is 5-11.
The real funny part was we were parked in her parent’s driveway at 1:00 AM when we gave the shocks, tires and seat mountings a real test.
Small world - I bought my 1984 Capri from the Mercury dealer on Kinderkamack Rd in Emerson NJ. It may have been the same building. Right down by the railroad tracks, where the road takes that quick jog to the right and then to the left. I haven’t been down that way in ages
Yup Drew,
That’s the very same building. It became a Mercury dealer after Volkswagen left around 1976.
Just next door was a place called “Jack Robert’s Pub”.
What a meat factory the place was in the 70’s. It went out of business by 1980 and was turned into a sock/sweats retail outlet.
I was living in Hackensack at the time.
