Yeah, I live in the PRNY, and one of my co-workers’ wives works in Spitzer’s press office. He told me today that he wasn’t sure that he’d see his wife yesterday, because of all the ruckus.
If one looks up the phrase, “Unbelievably (expletive deleted) arrogant” in any dictionary, one sees Spitzer’s name.
Very true Peiper. There are always some exceptions. Maybe there is a popularity factor involved? Martha rubbed a lot of people the wrong way. So does Spitzer. But I’d like to think that any Republican would have stepped down yesterday. Even McGreavy (D-NJ) resigned when faced with his gay scandal, though I don’t think he had committed any actual crimes. Well, perhaps he showed some favoritism to his g-lover, but that guy was in and then out of the job of homeland security advisor so fast it hardly counts.
Point of Order!
He’s a Democrat. Therefore, he is subject to ‘Democrat rules’ for decency and outrageous conduct.
Do the names “Clinton” and “Lewinsky” ring a bell? Governor Spitzer may well be the next poster child for Puritanical Republican oppression.
Move along folks, nothing to see here.
The other point is that he currently has the State Attorney General and Albany County District Attorney investigating his staff for improper use of State Police to imtimidate the Senate Majority leader.
There is also, been whiffs of controversy with respect to improper use of State personnel, vehicles and Aircrafts.
Add in the driver’s license issue for illegals and the shear arrogance he has shown the People of the State of New York, I think its the totality of it all that is going to be driving the New York Assembly and Senate chambers.
For Spitzer it might be better to step down now, because it might help some of his pet projects receive funding in the next State budget which is currently under legislative scrutiny. If he stays, there may be less inclination to provide money for those projects.
