  1. How funny! Alan Alda as a Republican! That shows the utter lack of reality in the cesspit called Hollywood! But, they think that we will buy into the idea that low cost of production “reality” TV shows will be watched by the masses. They have steadily lost the ‘eyes’ and ratings continue to fall for the big networks.

I would rather watch reruns of old movies that the fair on the networks, when I watch TV at all.

  2. Or, for that matter, Donald Sutherland (whose former father-in-law authored Canada’s single-payer health care system) playing a GOP member!

  3. TWW puts Alda and Smits as very moderate Republican and Democratic candidates, each often sharing more ideas than not. One thing TWW often did is to explain the points of view of each side fairly well.

The thing that is killing TWW, and possibly other popular shows, is that NBC and other nitworks, uh, networks keep pre-empting them during sweeps months for these friggin’ “reality” shows! “Hey, our regular show is not good enough to get good ratings, so let’s put on a ‘Roasting Your Toes Over Hot Coals’ REALITY Show! That’ll bring in the viewers!”

    What morons.

  4. Naa, they finally figured out that bill was no longer the pres and they needed to make room for their new hit series.  The one that stars geena as hillery in “commanderess-in-chieftess”.  Anybody wonder how long that crap will be on if/when she loses? she

  5. I am proud to say that I have never watched “The West Wing” or any of the “reality” shows.  I prefer the little rectangles that expand your mind—books!

  6. Never saw the show, never cared to, and I don’t hate to think that I missed anything.

  7. Used to watch West Wing in the early years.............don’t watch much TV as late.........well I must admit to a couple of soaps when I am home during the day and some sports............always enjoy the winter Olympics - coming up in Feb.........My brother will be in Italy working for the network - he does the winter Olympics every 4 years - won an Emmy during the last Olympics for his cimemaphotography in the studio with Bob Costas.........If you watch the Olympics, the pre-Olympic profiles done with Tom Brokaw were filmed by my brother - he spent several weeks in the fall of 2005 traveling the world to do the pre-Olympic profiles.................

  8. Mr. Christian, that is exactly what we have...one TV hooked to a video machine and we watch maybe two movies per month.  Also, this TV is not in the main part of the house, so it is not taking up our living space.  Now if I could only get Dish network to stop trying to sell me a dish…

BTW, I feel the lack of TV has really improved our family.

  9. WW was good in the first couple of years after you got past gritting your teeth over the liberalism crap. I actually liked some of the characters and the sarcasm was pretty good.

I still watch too much TV, but its either because I like a particular character (the whole sarcasm thing again - I like CSI Las Vegas and Law and Order [original and SVU] or because there is some gorgeous woman on the show who I love to look at like “Without a Trace” (because Rozelyn Sanchez is the single most beautiful woman I have ever seen on the TV screen).

The rest of the time its the news (Fox, both because its good and because of Dari Alexander and Reena Ninan), the science channels (TLC, DISC, HIST, NAT GEO) or whatever crap my wife insists I cuddle to. Like cooking or some modeling reality tv crap. Yeesh!!

  10. I save my reading for the bathroom, thank you. I’m working on “Freakonomics” currently. I just finished Wallid Phares’ “Future Jihad”. It sounds funny, but I get thru 3 or 4 books a month sitting on my throne.

Sorry OCM, but no DISH for this dude. Satellite is pretty useless as I get Roadrunner Broadband thru my cable (at 5mbps). I can sit here and write this while watching TV. The national news drek is on and I want to know what the commie traitor media is vomiting upon the public. I have an All-in-Wonder video card so the TV comes thru the PC.

OCM, I wasn’t cursing the educhannels (far from it!!!) just the times when I’m forced to watch the stuff me espousa likes. Scary stuff - Filipina’s and their fascination with glitter.

Like I said I only watch “normal” (shudder) TV for a very few reasons.
1)A particularly interesting and sarcastic character.
    2)A particularly beautiful woman.
    3)Scouting out enemy intentions.

  11. Babylonandon.............I agree that bathroom reading is terrific - I usually read the “Everday” section of my local newspaper in the bathroom - it is just ebnough reading to get the job done!!!!!!!!!!! grin

  12. Amen to that, Badger. I don’t have TV or Cable either, and don’t ever want them again. I do just fine with books and movies (especially the Looney Tunes DVD collection)
