Okinawan politicians are very vocal with their opposition to hosting more than their fair share of US troops in Japan. Plans are underway to relocate a large group of marines to Guam in the coming years with Tokyo footing a large portion of the bill.
Stupid comments such as the one Murtha made in the end hurts US foreign policy. If he becomes the Majority Leader, what he says will get a lot more scrutiny and add to the difficulty of the United States forward deploying its troops around the world.
In the words of Reagan’s former Interior Secretary, James Watts, “there are two kinds of people in America.....Americans and Democrats”.
Re: the cartoon
The Donks will govern. They won’t give a damn about what the members of the Stupid Party say or do.
One of the problems with the Stupid Party is that it doesn’t know what to do once it’s in the majority. Forty years of being in the Minority corrupted the Stupid Party. Notice that when the iron hand of DeLay was absent, the House of Representatives collapsed. Hastert (spelling?) was worse than useless.
My hope is that either the Stupid Party learns its lesson from this loss, or a viable Conservative Party emerges from this disaster.
...and now the idiocy begins. The only problems I have with the current crop of Democrats are:
1) They don’t like democracy or trust the common man they claim to support.
2) They are essentially clueless about our position relative to the rest of the world.
3) They generally don’t comprehend the nature of either our allies or enemies.
4) They never give up on failed ideas and move on with new concepts.
Already as a result of the last election, we have jubilation in Tehran, Gaza and other cesspooles and increasing violence in Afghanistan - The wonders of the Democratic party at work.
Here’s something that stupid, old, aging and completely idiotic Murtha should think on -

Who better than the ‘boots on the ground’ troops - you know the ones actually interacting with the Iraqi people to know how ‘the mission’ is going?
These politicians in DC have been there too damn long, they have no concept of the real world.
Whatever happened to the concept of ‘public servant’ and ‘serving the country’?
We are in trouble
BTW, the perfect caption for the picture to go with the story is
‘If there is to be peace in the world, it must begin with the children’ Ghandi
