  1. Also they’re more appealing when they’re not so .. gynecological.

  2. Uh, Kim’s stuff is good. I like a girl who doesn’t cause bruises, at least outside of my krav maga class. Sure, put in a link to his and others who rate.

  3. I’ve seen Kim’s Weekend Women stuff. He goes for the classic beauty, and my experience is they are in good taste. I’m with Suidae, I don’t need a biology lesson.

    wink

  4. Allan wasn’t married. Sorting and sizing pictures of naked women might be hazardous to your health.

  5. Go where your conscience guides you. I gather from other comments you’ve made that you are a devout christian. Need more be said?

  6. Christian I am, but even if I were not, beauty to me is not in a close-in crotch shot.  I’m with Ag.—a little ass, a lotta class.  Maybe Allan sorted the photos using only one hand?

  7. How courageous of you to post as Anonymous.
My Mom used to say, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything.” Advice your mother should have told you.

  8. I’d not posted on the weekend eye candy posts much. After looking at Kim’s Weekend Women stuff, I’d go with something like that. Classic beauty in good taste, IMO.

Anonymous - It’s your opinion. You’re entitled to that opinion. But the idea of you calling a recently deceased man a narcisisstical asshole when he’s not here to defend himself seems to me rather tactless. You and Allan had problems, I get that. But I don’t feel it polite to speak ill of the recently departed. But that’s just me.

  9. .....especially when your statements are vague with no supporting information.  I find your use of anonymity disturbing.  Allan Kelly is dead, any threat that he posed to you is pretty much over, therefore, why anonymity?  I am assuming that the threat didn’t include a “dead man’s switch”, but then if it did, you’re toast anyway.

Oh yeah, as far as the “pornographic” nature of the Eye Candy, I seem to remember that you always had to click on an icon - viewing was strictly optional and the section was always clearly marked for what it was.  Can’t say that I remember anyone objecting much at the time, then again, I often skipped it and rarely checked the comments for the Eye Candy postings.  That it was included along with everything else here was actually more indicative of the inclusive nature of this blog than anything else.  Among the eulogies was the comment, that participating here was more like discussing current events with some friends over beers than anything else...and yes, when I’m with friends, pretty ladies often show up in the conversation.

I chose to stay here after the great “blow up”.  I checked around to try to find out what happened.  The perplexing part was how little hard information I could gather.  I checked related blogs did google searches and even queried some of the participants via email.  To this day, I still have very little solid information that was not previously posted on BMEWS.  The only additional information I received related mostly to the level of disappointment that some people had with Allan and/or the other commentators.  All in all, I felt pretty bad about the whole situation and ceased commenting anywhere for a period of time while I watched and evaluated the situation.  Frankly, I liked and respected all of the people involved and didn’t enjoy seeing people I considered my friends have such a bad time of it.  In the end, I decided that BMEWS was the most interesting forum that I had available.  As far as those who departed (voluntarily or otherwise), no one did any harm to me and I bear no ill will towards any of the participants.  As far as filling me in on what happened, at this point, I don’t see where anything is likely to change much and I’d rather simply leave the subject alone.

  10. well said Dr. Jeff.

Its pretty obvious to me after reading post #7, Skipper was a good judge of character.

Not only was Skipper a good judge of character, he also had impeccable taste in women.

Whether or not the eye candy feature continues is less important than carrying on the tradition of inclusion. BMEWS under Skipper has been an oasis of unapologetic conservative thought free of religious dogma. Hopefully as adjustments are made, the site remains true to that theme.

  11. Kuso JiJi, I hate to disagree with someone who’s agreeing with me, but I have to a little bit here.  Back in the blow up, 3 of the departed were people I really liked.  I doubt that Anonymous is any one of them, the style of the words doesn’t match.  Since I never did come to a good understanding of the root causes, I settled for staying part of the BMEWS community and privately wished the others good luck wherever they landed.  The only part that I was certain of was that the Skipper and several leading and secondary people here got into a grand donnybrook, with lots of name calling, fear and threats.  It was sort of like watching a good piece of my family suddenly detonate without warning. Overall, it was very depressing.  My involvement was pretty peripheral and it still hurt.

To more immediately important things.  I strongly believe in principle before personality and a concept that I call “Practical Reality”.  While there are certainly serious principles guiding much of the thought here, the lack of dogma is what I find refreshing.  The lack of dogma also allows creative solutions to emerge.  I really am an old radical - what sets me apart from the rest is that I actually believe in “Power to the People”, something that is seriously lacking on the Left side of the political spectrum.  Oh yes, I also believe in my country, the United States of America.  We’ve got lots of faults, but we’re also way ahead of anyone else.  Our faults we can fix as long as we remember and honor all of our heritage.  I’m a proud American and I like being at the top of the global food chain.  Free markets work way better than Communism or any other form of dictatorship ever could.  A lot of the principles here are certainly not conservative by my measure.  I’ll never forget when I told the Skipper that he was actually a lot more liberal on the subject of free speech and competing ideas than most liberals I know.  His reaction:  “I’ve been slimed!” He took it with good grace and a smile.

Last but not least is the question of the future direction of BMEWS as tended my Mr. Christian and The Navigator.  Obviously, personal taste will play a large role.  The Skipper could be quite eclectic at times, moving from serious Christian principles to the Eye Candy posting, to damning the Democrats, all without missing a beat.  It would be unrealistic to expect someone else to be a clone of The Skipper.  We will see what direction BMEWS ultimately takes.  For people like you and me, we must remember that we are along for the ride here.  We may have some influence on things, but ultimately it’s not our call.

  12. Dr. Jeff,

I am content to see the site change as new voices and directions are felt. I didn’t need the eye candy to want to come here. I came here for the same reason I visit several other blogs. I like the views and opinions. I makes me feel like I am not the only one thinking the way I do. It provides an antidote to the MSM.

However, we are not just along for the ride. I am always a mouse click away from leaving any site I am currently viewing. I left one well known site for a while when the blogger did away with comments. Being able to comment and read the other comments is an important part of evaluating the posts. In that sense, we, the visitors, steer the site and have direct input. By leaving, I choose to no longer allow the words, pictures, and opinions of that site influence me.

  13. As the good Dr. pointed out above, you had to click on a link, and there were always “Not Safe For Work” warnings.
That said, I prefer the “Weekend Women” format. What you don’t see is often more titillating (poor choice of words?) than what you do see.
