Thank you for having a memorial post up and ready this morning, Peiper.
I listen to some of these audio files every 9/11 as my way of remembering: NY Fire Department’s 9/11 Radio Dispatches
Also, here’s a chronology of the events of that day (Flash required): 9/11 Interactive Timeline
Been watching 9-11 documentaries all weekend - I just wish NYC would get their heads out of their *#!^@ and rebuild the Twin Towers and hang a giant sign that says - Come And Get US - We Will Rebuild Them AGAIN.
Between Ground Zero and the DHS/TSA debacle - the terrorists have won.
Such a shame that politicians have drug America down so far.
I’m having a pretty hard time generating support for the USA right now:
1-TSA is a complete disaster, NO terrorists caught yet, 5000 Grandmothers and little children molested.
2-FISA/Warrentless Wiretaps are a complete end run around the Constitution - and heavily abused by Federal Law Enforcement agencies.
3-Illegal Immigration still hasn’t been seriously addressed. Sorry, “We can’t do that” is a BS excuse, Eisenhower did it.
4-Still no budget passed yet. Our country is facing a fiscal nightmare, yet our congressional leaders can’t do their frickin jobs and pass a budget.
I honor the memory of those who died on September 11, 2001. I seriously wonder if our country would be better off had the passengers on United Flight 93 not been true Patriots - had that plane hit the Capitol Building, would we see more realistic efforts by our government to prevent terrorism, instead of the security “feel good” theater we have today?
Jackal ..... well said. Now if only one lonely politician could go public and repeat that,
but what am I saying? I really don’t see things improving enough to make a difference.
They pay lip service but really, they’re more concerned with power and perks and a damn good retirement pension. I’ve know I’ve said the following before but I really feel this way.
I don’t even trust the politicians I like. And I can count those on one hand and still have fingers left over.
Well done. Thanks for having something ready. My PC time today is very limited - someone else needs the machine today.
I would have just preferred a 50 megaton glass parking lot in Kabul but I guess we got the job done well enough.Saddam and Sons were just a bonus in my opinion.Peace to the Fallen.
Found over at Ace of Spaces HQ, where it’s described with one word: “Gripping”
What I’ve Learned: Michael Wright
This is a first hand account from a 9/11 survivor who barely made it out before the towers collapsed. Read the whole thing.
This 11th anniversary falls on a Tuesday.
The actual Event took place on a Tuesday.
Somehow that’s affected me all day. I couldn’t function. I was paralized once again.
On 9/11/01 I was living in North Carolina. I spent the entire day on the sofa not knowing whether to curse the terrorists or cry for the victims. Truth is I did both.
I never wanted to leave that beautiful State in the most beautiful country in the world, but my responsibility to my family and young daughter over-rode my desire to remain.
Yesterday reaffirmed my efforts to return to North Carolina and remain there for the rest of my days.
My legal responsibility as a father end on Feb 2 next when my only child reaches 18 years.
My moral responsibility as a husband ended several years ago.
So I’ll be off to the Tarheel State at the end of October looking for a nice comfortable mobile home in the Smokies......
OOH RAH!
