War Is Over, Troops Home By Christmas
I have no idea why the Wall Street Journal says 3525 troops killed and Fox says >4400. I seem to recall that the MSM was counting every last body bag and giving us those numbers, and nothing else about Iraq, every night and calling it news. I also recall the (no pun intended) “grave milestone” when the 4,000th soldier fell, bringing the death toll of more than half a decade of fighting almost up to the same number killed on D-Day in WWII. So I’m guessing WSJ can’t do math very well any longer.
And while the Fox article says 40-45K troops, I’ve read elsewhere that the troop count is down about 50% from it’s peak of 160-190,000, which would be about 80-95,000. So that’s a whole lot of troop ships or MAC flights to get completed in the next 10 weeks. Plus all our stuff, right? Planes, tanks, trucks, etc?
As soon as the last US Troop leaves that Godforsaken country called Iraq, the Iraqis will beak out the following chant of the Muslim National Anthem:

Honor The Fallen (Military Times) says 6262 as of October 19, 2011. The msm always hyped the numbers during GWB but have down played the numbers under BHO. More US Armed Forces have been killed in Afghanistan since BHO (2009-2011) took office than in the previous years (7, 2001-2008) when GWB was COIC. And now that Dear Reader is attempting a ‘peace with honor’ end to this - they are fudging the numbers downward. Pathetic and disgusting propaganda.
I saw a cartoon this am - Saddam, bin Laden and Qaddafi soaking in tubs of burning oil in hell with the devil. BHO, I think believes that this is opening the gates of muslim ‘freedom’ and control and here, in the US will get him cred on both sides of the aisle (’tough’ and gettin’ the job done while points for getting the heck out of Dodge (finally)). Except that the morons who support and vote for BHO don’t see that he has actually carried out exactly what GWB started back on Sept. 20, 2001 - BHO stayed the course in both Iraq & Afghanistan, and has insured that 3 of the stanchest leaders/supporters of ‘terrorism’ assumed room temp ("Our war on terror begins with al-Qaida, but it does not end there. It will not end until every terrorist group of global reach has been found, stopped and defeated.") For BHO to claim we weren’t doing anything in Libya but air strikes but also to claim that it was our polity that got him - he knows what he wants (foreign affairs cred). And it was the exact same thing as GWB - bring ‘em down, show the World that the US goes in, kicks butt, removes the leaders and finishes what it started. Now I grant he may have had a different motive - but the end is the same.
I’m choking on this but - bravo for Obama. It shall be interesting to see 1) how he spins it - we know he will babble about the Arab Spring - wonder how the death is Saudi Arabia will be spun in this mess and 2) if anyone else sees that he just continued and actually went the distance on the GWB declaration in 2001. It will also be very interesting to see how the ME reacts in the future.
I for one don’t see this as Democracy Rising but rather more a muslim takeover of the World Part 1.
We shall see.

Not trainers or civilian contractors or guards or specialists or ambassadors or ‘special embassy personnel’ or technical consultants or government advisers or so on and so on…

Yeah I noticed that too TimO - BHO said ALL troops out and almost immediately except embassy troops - and then the trainers snuck in and so it goes - sort of like BJ ‘Home by Christmas’ Clinton - there are still troops going to Kosovo - imagine that, an endless war.
BHO is a real lawyer as he fits the - How do you know a lawyer is lying? His lips are moving. To. A. Tee.
BTW - my 6262 is for OIF/OEF/OND - the breakdown is 4444 for OIF, 1796 OEF, 22 OND (seems to be BHO’s Iraq ‘non-war war’. I would hope that the media entity representing the military would be closer to the truth - but I’ve written them about how biased they’ve become - so media is media is a bunch of propagandist liars.
The History Channel had a show World War I, The Great War (we frequent the library about every other day now) and one of the episodes was Dear Home, Letters from World War I. I thought this was so telling as to how skewed the media has been - “like forever”:
