  1. As a kid, we’d travel to Miami every summer and stay for about a month, visiting various relatives. Your definitions of Florida rain amounts are spot on.  grin

As of right now, I’ve got relatives in the following FL cities: Ocala, West Palm Beach, Flagler Beach, St Pete, and Miami. And my husband is stuck at NAS Pensacola for the next two months (Class A Aircraft Mechanic School)

Current track has the remnants of this storm heading for my home state of KY.

Anyone got a particular type of beer I should try?  tongue laugh cause I’m kinda new to beer drinking, and I could sure use a few (did I mention my youngest son starts kindergarten on Tues?) Current fave is Killian’s Irish Red.

  2. Well, your relatives sure know how to pick their Florida locations.  They are all going to get blown and drenched.

Beer?  For me?  Sam Adams.  mmmmmmmmmmmm!!

  3. gulp  This one is so big there no where to run....

My days been about like yours Vilmar. Looks like this one will get us all to some extent no matter where it hits.

I don’t know about your exact location but here in the Peoples Republic of Gainesville rains of biblical proportions means flooding of biblical portions.

I’m not too worried about us, but my neighbors neighbor has a tree that’s already put a huge limb through my neighbors roof. We got the tarps and chain saw ready.

I’ve developed a taste for some of the Microbrew Pale Ales myself ( Flying Dog"s Dog Bite). But on the mass market I kinda like the Michealob Honey Lager. Some good Mexican beers out there like Dos Yaquis (sp?). Localy we get good prices on Jamiacan Red Stripe which isn’t all that shabbie either.

Well huncker down Vilmar, good luck…

  4. Last Monday, we had 10” - 14” dumped on us in about 4 - 5 hours, and I had water in the basement for the first time in the 21 years I’ve been in this house.  It came in so fast that my shop vac couldn’t keep up and I opened the back door to let it run over the threshhold and out.  My normally fast-draining front yard had 4” of standing water for hours.  Around Richmond, normally well-drained streets turned into Class 4 rapids with 4’ to 5’ of fast running water, which carried away hundreds of cars, semi’s, roads, culverts and even a CSX/Amtrak RR right-of-way. At last count 8 people drowned.

Be careful Vilmar; don’t mess with rising water, and best of luck.

  5. cool smirk  I don’t know about the rest of you here in Florida, but I wish this storm would hurry up and get here and get it over with. Not like we can do anything about it.

I’m getting restless I got my viena sausage, beanies and weenies and a jug of water I’m ready. The chain saw is ready and I got tarps, rope and my tool kid ready to clean this mess up. So bring it on.

OK, hurricane trivia (winner will recive an e-mailed autographed picture of what’s left of my house); How many sausage are in a can of viena sausage? (no looking)…
