So two teenage girls are acting smart - I guess what you’d call cheeky - in front of the cops. One girl goes off on the other one, the cops try to contain it, the yob-mob reacts to the containment activity, and all hell breaks loose.
You’ll never get the straight story. Those traffic cams are your only chance, and they don’t have audio. Too bad the cops don’t carry VOX digital recorders. That would help.
On the one hand, you’ve got a crowd - maybe just regular folks, maybe “disaffected youths”, who shows no respect for the law.
On the other hand, you’ve got a crowd of citizens who are not willing to accept heavy handed practices from the police while they are happening (vs suing them later in court) and that sounds like a good thing to me. Two problems with activism like that a) that it leaves the judgment of ‘how much is too much’ up to the mob ... and the IQ and reasoning power of a mob is (IQ of stupidest member/size of the mob), b) odds that the person being subject to excessive policing is known to members of the mob which is right there. Small towns and all, right? So there’s an awful lot of built in bias. And this doesn’t even account for the crowd being 1)surly yobs out looking for trouble, or 2)a highly sensitive ethnic group who are usually on the edge of violent outrage anyway.
Anarchy descends when the populace stops demanding decent behavior. When the masses realize that they outnumber the cops 1000:1 and see this as an advantage ... it’s over.
Peiper my thoughts exactly. If a few of the ring leaders had been shot in the face it would hav ended pretty quickly. Croydon for those that haven’t been there is the rectum of Britain. It is where the Home Office has it’s headquarters, and where hundreds of bogus deadbeat asylum seekers are interviewed daily about their bullshit asylum claims. The population is to paraphrase a former head of Al-BBC hideously non white. The place where this happened though looks like any high street in Britain. I find it quite alarming that the mob can now see they can take the law into their own hands with impunity. You only have to see some of these police action shows to see that the average punk on the street has no respect for the law, or the persons charged with upholding the law. Trouble is on the horizon I fear.
