  1. Yes it bothers me, especially since I think that the IRS should be abolished and are evil incarnate. Even if they didn’t use the IRS, they could have used the credit card companies (which in my mind, makes the IRS look great and decent) as they can track anyone, anywhere, put any damn thing they want on your ‘credit’ report and stand back and harass you forever.

There is no ‘privacy’ anymore, perhaps Al ‘I invented the InterNet’ Gore was really behind the InterNet as a way for the Government to invade everyone’s life. They have definately been successful.

Can’t wait until my hubby gets his letter - should be some damn fine fireworks around here.

  2. I got the same letter today, and yep, that’s how they found me...LOL

  3. BTW, I have no problem with the VA having all of my current info, the IRS on the other hand…

  4. Yep...my husband and I got our letters today too. The first thing that caught my eye was the IRS helping the VA find everybody.  Of course it comes as no surprise to me. I work in the bookkeeping/tax preparation field and I’ve seen some of the things the IRS can do. Scary stuff. We really need a new tax revolution here, I’m beginning to like the Fair Tax Plan. I read the book several months ago and it looks pretty good.

  5. I got a medical discharge back in 1978 (in which case I am not a veteran), and I still got a letter.

  6. Heh, so that’s how the VA keeps finding me!  Right there with ya’ Skipper - never applied for benefits after discharge and I always wondered how they did it.  Now I know… smirk

  7. I was in Basic Training at Fort Dix (A-3-2) in July and August of 1969, they changed from the “Army” serial numbers to SSN about halfway through the cycle. We also switched from M-14s to M-16s at about the same time.

  8. The language of the Social Security Act strictly prohibited the use of the Social Security number as a universal identification number.

I’m so glad that the government is diligently following it’s own rules.

  9. Fireworks last night - hubby’s letter came. Yes, it is wonderful how temporary tax became permenent, having SSN as just for tax purposes and SS become necessary for everything. . .

A gazillion vets must have locked their credit reports - new legislation pending to make it so that ‘citizen’ American must have filed a police report on identity theft to be able to lock ‘THEIR’ credit report. . . what garbage

Congresscritters gone WILD - time to stop them and once again turn America into a country once again governed by WE THE PEOPLE. . .
