  1. If you are a reader and don’t mind graphic violence and sex - a western writer wrote a ‘mens’ series (not western)called The Ashes it started in 1983 with “Out of the Ashes” about a neuclear event destroying most of the world and goes to 2001 (pre- 9/11)when he ended the series having quite well predicted Islamic terrorists attacking in the US. But one of the themes running through the entire 36 book series is that there is an element of society that will roam around armed and preying on others, his solution was kill ‘em all and let God sort them out.

If you look at most ‘social’ experiments (i.e. deviations into making crimes against human nature ‘legal’) the societies that have adopted them have either repealed them or been destroyed. I fear if we don’t continue to be strong and use our brains and just plain common sense, the PC police, liberal whiners and feminazis will destroy America from within.

While I am not for public hangings and stonings - the other side of giving a guy who raped a 6 year old 60 days in jail and taking away guns from those who register them - is just as bad. What happened to reasonable laws that are upheld and the truely dangerous are either committed to mental facilities or prison or executed? Why should their ‘rights’ supercede everyone else’s right to be safe and alive? flag

  2. Sounds like the disarmed men of this village need to find their stones, and wickets (Great British for baseball bat) and clean house.  Apparently they don’t have to worry about the sissy little bobbies who won’t make any arrests.

Maybe I’ll buy a summer cottage in St. Day and start a neighborhood watch.  Iv’e been a little on edge since I gave up booze.  Wonder if I could use it as a tax deductable medical expense.  “Behavior correction therapy”.

I wanna be… (in no specific order) Governor of Kamchaka, Chuck Yeager, and Wyatt Earp!!!  Yee Haw!

Some great posts here this week - really gets the blood flowing.

  3. From time to time I hear stories like this about England being the country in which “only the bad guys have guns.” What say you, our British members?

  4. The British Socialists have created a welfare state that renders work and achievement meaningless to the youth of Britain.  The honest citizens have been trained not to fight back - my God, what a situation for violence and social disintegration.  How pitiful the Brits have become.  Didn’t they learn from Neville Chamberlain that appeasing tyrants doesn’t work?  Let’s see, the kids are offered skate parks and youth centers to stop the violence, pretty please.  How wonderfully futile.  The underpining of the welfare state has rendered most non violent solutions meaningless.  The kids know that they have no meaningful future, will not starve, probably won’t be punished no matter what they do, so they remain violent infants.  They are completely separated from any sense of belonging to a larger society (Who attacks their local church?) and have formed their own perverted society.

This is the end result of a welfare state where a safety net has become a suffocating blanket.

  5. Excellent post, Dr. Jeff.

It seems like Cuffy Meigs is alive and well in diverse small copies.

    confused

  6. Thank you Tannenberg.

It’s very important that we not go down the same road that Britain has.  After Mrs. Thatcher took office, I thought that they might turn it around, but obviously not.

Mr. Christian mentions the use of firearms as a possible solution to the problem.  This is partially true.  When citizens own firearms, they become more understanding that their safety and the safety of their friends and loved ones depends upon the responsible actions of each individual.  When an individual mishandles a firearm, the results are often dramatic.  It is a self enforcing lesson.

Ultimately, Mr. Christian has a strong point.  An armed village composed of citizens working together for their common safety would end the problem with the hooligans in a few minutes.  Even more importantly though, an armed village of involved citizens is unlikely to breed a generation of perverse and violent children.

All this being said, I should also state that I am a N.R.A. Life Member who believes that the 2nd Amendment should be construed as a national right-to-carry permit.

    btw Who is Cuffy Meigs?

  7. You’re dead on again, Dr. Jeff.  Glad you’re with us.

Cuffy Meigs was a key character in Ayn Rand’s Atlas Shrugged. An overgrown punk, basically, who was terrified at a world offering him no future.  He chose to compensate by the boots-truncheon-leather route.

If you haven’t read Atlas Shrugged, by the way, it will more than repay your investment of time and effort.  I think that several of us here, including the Skipper, would vouch for this.  I personally regard it as required reading for every concerned citizen.

    wink

  8. Just back from a weekend in Vancouver, BC (took krav maga training from the guy in Israel who is THE head honcho for the system). Went thru the Peace Arch boarder crossing at Blaine, Wa, and saw the tracks in the grassy park left by the contract killers who were caught at the boarder last week. Seems they were trying to get to Canada because, if caught, they would not be extradited to the US where they would face the death penalty. They did not make it and one, a Pakistani(!) was shot.

Now, the part of the story not reported; the Canadian boarder guards, instead of cowboying up to help stop two bloody murderers from entering Canada CLOSED AND LOCKED THE DOORS ON THE CROSSING BOOTHS AND WALKED AWAY, on orders from their union. Now, before we all hop on the union, listen to this - the Canadian guards are unarmed, and the union wants them to be armed! Thier action was, essentially, a protest against the asshats in Ottawa who make the rules in the first place.

Un-friggin’ believable. If these two killers had gotten across the boarder, they’d likely have disappeared into Canada and be long gone and hunting Canadians. What a collection of dip-shits.
