"Hanoi Jane” apologizes for the picture of her in an NVA gun emplacement - has she EVER acknowledged her giving slips of paper, given by POWs in the Hanoi Hilton, so she could {ostensibly} let their families know they were alive, to the CO of the prison, who then ordered the beatings/torture of the POWs?
On Topic-sort of.
Mike and i are spending the weekend visiting a distant cousin of his who lives in Twin Cities.
His cousin has dual US/ Canadian citizenship because “D"-who’s my age-was born in Canada.
Why? Because his parents went there so “D“‘s father could dodge the draft!
“D"-a left/libertarian-doesn’t seem be bothered by the circumstances of his birth-but I AM!
My father was 4F-crohns disease-but he WANTED-in fact- TRIED to enlist.
A friend in Jr. high and H.S. school never knew her dad because he was a Marine who was killed in ‘Nam a few months before she was born!; all the while “D“‘s dad was giving his country the bird from north of the border.
I want to be a good guest, and “D“‘s not a bad guy but his late father’s draft dodging makes me see red!
Advice please.
1. get there and shoot him to put him out of YOUR misery (hehehe)
2. fake an illness and stay home
3. demand to be taken out to the shooting range to practice “air conditioning” gooks and sheetheads.” If he balks, see option 1.
4. go anyway but find the programming on the TV so interesting you can’t break away from it.
5. go anyway and “hog” his computer. Change his start page to BMEWS. Chortle loudly at all the articles we post and insist on reading it to him. If he protests, see option 1.
That’s the best I can do on short notice.
Anyone else?
ALT, I LIKE Vilmar’s suggestion #5 - as liberal as the Twin Cities are, #4 & #5 are the safest for you to consider ............... personally, as the daughter of a U. S. Marine mustanger {Korea & VietNam vet}, the wife of a former U. S. Marine Gunnery Sergeant {VietNam vet}, & former U. S. Marine myself, upon arrival, I’d suggest some ground rules with “D” - to keep the ‘family’ cool, NO discussions of his ‘dual-citizenship’ {which is a crock, anyway - he should have CHOSEN when he turned 18}, and NO discussions of his ‘father’, in YOUR presence, as YOU, personally, as an AMERICAN citizen, find such dialogue unproductive and leading to unnecessary ill-feelings - but that’s me .................. and remember, Mike CHOSE *YOU* - he couldn’t choose family ...............
From Amazon.com review of Jane Fonda’s ”My Life So Far (Left)”
In Fonda’s third act, she is prepared to do the work of a lifetime–to begin living consciously in a way that might inspire others who can learn from her experiences. Surprising, candid, and wonderfully written, Jane Fonda’s My Life So Far is filled with universal insights into the personal struggles of women living full and engaged lives.
Sounds great! And when I buy it I’ll jump to Amazon straight from the BMEWS link so Vilmar and Allan will get credit!
OldCatMan, there ARE folks who just ‘don’t fit’ in the military, which is one reason why basic training is as rigorous as it is - think about it - wouldn’t you rather root out those who would be more liability than benefit in a firefight with hostile forces, BEFORE you’re in a firefight?
As far as “anti-authoritarianism” precluding one from being adept at military service - MY spousal unit was given a choice - jail or the USMC - he served honorably for 18 years, serving as a Drill Instructor, fixing aircraft, and ultimately attaining the rank of Gunnery Sergeant - he’s a hard-headed Aries, who does NOT bow to “authority”, just because it IS “authority” - he’s a rather strict Constitutionalist {as are most former military}, who, to ME, is a big teddy bear - although the company he worked for chose him to train quality control types outside the U.S. {Mexico & the Czech Republic}, because of his size {6’ 2”, 275 lbs.} and demeanor - quality is kinda critical in jet engine parts - he doesn’t suffer fools or bean-counters gladly, when it comes to these things ..................
That’s funny - I’m 6 years older than my brother - but he didn’t want to KNOW from the military - when I joined, my Dad cleaned up his dress blues and swore me in - he didn’t seem to have TOO much problem with having a daughter who was a BAM {despite what others may tell you, that stands for Beautiful American Marine! } - nahhh, my Dad’s only complaint was that I was a Winger {aviation electrician} - as a retired Grunt communicator, he never ‘permitted’ me to wear “fluffies & buffies” {un-ironed/un-starched utility/camouflage uniform & un-shined (size 4) combat boots} - in fact, my utility cover would be starched to the point that you could use it as a hammer in a pinch!
BAM MA’AM! Sorry, I didn’t know you were a Sister. Or Brother-in-arms if you prefer. My photo is under the “Child Abuse” link. Love, OINK
If Berger does not do jail time, he must give the best/most head in Washington.
Spit, hack, urrrrp, spit, hork, choke, hork, spit, can’t say that bitches name, spit, choke, spit, hork, spit, Jaaaa, cough, hork, spit, Aw Fuck it. A curse upon that treasonous bitch and her progeny!
What Bergler did was FAR more serious than Nixon and Watergate, which involved no documents of national security. Bergler should be either shot or rot in jail for the rest of his life. End of story.
As for the other one, what’s her name?...Jane who? Like my Dad does (USMC, Vietnam, 1969-71), I have exiled her to a living death. She is persona non grata.
I bet Bergers $10,000 fine is Tax Deductible as a legitimate cost of business/standard operating expense.
His 3 year suspension of clearance?
If He has a need to see Secret/Classified documents, the suspension can be reversed.
Yep… that’s right.. suspension of clearance until you need a clearance.
Yea.. I see… just like it works for real people in the real world. Anyone else would be fired and never see a security clearance again. For anyone in the Military, they would see a reduction in Rank, Loss of pay, most likely Jail time and a dishonorable discharge.
I guess it is good to be the king, or on the kings court.
